Constant FCPX Crashing on Multicam

Question

I'm running FCPX 10.0.8 on an iMac late 2012 3.4 i7 680mx & get repeated crashing when editing MULTICAM clips.
The clips are 1080/50p AVCHD (does not crash if I use Proxy - but a: why should I? & b: I'm concerened here that I have a HW issue)
Each time it crashes the issue is.....   'com.apple.helium-render-queue-exec-unit-gpu'
I've also had several Kernal Panics (System resets) over the last few days, but these only ever occur in Final Cut Pro X
I'm worried that this could be a graphics hardware issue?????

Update:  I now beleive this is an issue/bug in FCPX's handling of multiple streams of 1080/50p AVCHD content as I have tried it on 2 different iMacs (identical specs) & a Macbook Pro using both an external G-Raid Thunderbolt Drive & internal HD's.  On all Machines the crashes still occur & the crashed thread is ALWAYS   com.apple.helium-render-queue-exec-unit-gpu
If the FCPX playback quality is set it 'High Quality' the crash happens every 2-3 minutes
If the FCPX playback quality is set it 'Best Performance' the crash happens every 5-10 minutes
If I use Proxy Media, I have yet to see a crash - which leads me to believe the issue is with the decoding of multiple streams of 1080/50p.
Normal Editing of 1080/50p footage seems fine.
I've reported this to Apple & hope this info helps someone else with the same problem!
