Constant flashing blue screen during operation?

I keep having the screen turn blue and then suddenly go back to normal. It's a quick flash, totally random, repetitive during operation, no noises, and nothing else is interrupted. It does not restart, log off, or try to. Is it about to die?

While she may be using the wrong hardware for this community, It might be a pertinent question for some folks.
I have a 2006 Mac Pro and I an experiencing the exact same problem. Random blue screens, I can still type and move the mouse (not seeing any of it on screen until the random blue screen goes away).

  • I5 17''MBP  gets blue screen during install windows 7 32 bit

    Hello all:
I heard that quite many people get classic windows' "blue screen" during using windows , whatever Windows XP, Vista or 7. But now i face the "blue screen" during install Windows 7, which means I even can not complete installation.
I bought my Macbook Pro i5 17'' one month ago, and I'm trying to install Windows 7 but I face the problem during the installation. After finishing first 4 steps the computer would restart and start to "finish installation", but at this time it gets "blue screen" and shows "error: 0x0000009c" and stuck there. I have to shut down the turn off button and interrupt the installation.
I don't know if there's any one else face this unlucky situation. I searched on the net and it says the problem could be from memory, graphic card (too new), or even overlocking the cpu, whatever it must be the problem of hardware. I thought it might be the problem of compatible.
If anyone knows how to deal with this problem??!! I do need to use some software under Windows system!

It is good to see that it is indeed a USB2.
The support software on the USB is used in the Pre-boot environment setup and provides drivers for Apple specific hardware, GPU, BT, Mouse, etc. You can verify that by looking at the USB contents. The DVD contains generic drivers when hardware is not recognized as defaults to use. Apple does enough 'secret sauce' to make them different. The following does not explicitly state the USB2 need when using the DVD Installer and mentions W8 (not W7).
From Boot Camp: Creating an ISO image from a Windows installation DVD - Apple Support
Insert a blank USB 2 flash drive that is a least 16GB in size into a USB port on the computer. Boot Camp Assistant uses this drive to store the Windows 8 install media and support drivers during installation of Windows.
Note: This flash drive needs to be formatted for the FAT32 file system and must use the Master Boot Record partitioning scheme. Use Disk Utility to check the format of the flash drive before proceeding, and partition or erase the flash drive if necessary.
I suspect the GPU is not getting the correct driver and the Installer fails. The Generic VGA should work. From the OS X side, can you see files in your BC volume? If yes, can you look for logs in the BC volume at the following locations.
    ./Windows/Inf/setupapi.dev.log
    ./Windows/Inf/setupapi.offline.log

  • Brand new iMac 27" i3 is flashing blue screen

My brand new Imac (one-day old) is acting very odd as it slowly flashes a pulsating light blue screen when I try to access Apple Menu (restart/sleep/shutdown) features. No matter what I do it will not turn off. I have since had to do a hard shutdown but now it stops at an error screen upon start-up that tells me to restart!
I am Mac savvy and this has never happened to me. Prior to this happening, I called Apple Tech Support because I could not use their Mac Migration feature to move my info off of a G4 running 10.4.11. Tech support could not help either as wireless, ethernet and direct Firewire attempts yielded no Migration results. I finally had to pull the hard drive out of the G4 and hooked it up to the new iMac. Everything seemed to transfer except when it was done the contents of what I just copied thru Migration was nowhere to be found. That is when I started experiencing the slow-flash blue screen phenom and is where I am stuck today.
I am ready to take this thing back. In all my years I have never had a problem like this with an Apple product. Any help or insight will be appreciated.

    ONE
Paul has given you good advice in that I would reinstall the OS from the supplied disks to get your computer working properly.
    TWO
Then re-install your old programs (only those you really need since they are likely PowerPC, not “universal” Intel programs) from their original disks.
    THREE
If you have the user data from the old drive backed up, then hopefully you can restore your user data to the new drive or buy an enclosure and access the old data as needed (which is what I did when originally migrating from a Power Mac G5 to the iMac (late 2009).
Alternatively, if step ONE is problematic and your machine is defective, you can likely return it to Apple within 14 days (or whatever the law is in your country) for a replacement or refund and purchase a new iMac just released today.  Steps TWO and THREE still apply in this case.

  • Audigy 4 gives blue screen during install of drivers on Windows XP SP3

FAudigy 4 gives blue screen during install of drivers on Windows XP SP3! Specs
    Asus a8n-sli
    GB RAM
    6600 GT
    Audigy 4
    LC Power 550 W PSU
I put in the installation CD that comes with the card. I want to install everything (full install), and mid-install I get a blue screen.
I then uninstalled everything and tried only to install the updated drivers from the website in safe-mode and still a blue screen. Should I get the dump file and send it to Creative?
How do get this card to work like it should? I also have a remote control that came together with the card.
Im currently using the onboard AC97 Realtek ALC850 soundcard.
Whats the whole procedure to make this work? Detailed please. How do I eliminate all traces of the audigy on my PC?

Re: Audigy 4 gives blue screen during install of drivers on Windows XP SP38 Perhaps you'd want to read this old thread of mine about my misadventures with the same exact card you are trying to use. IMHO that card was not worth the time and money I spent on it (even even less the time and money it caused me to spend afterwards to repair the damage it caused.

  • Getting light blue screen during startup for 3-5 Seconds

I get a light blue screen during start up for about 3-5 seconds. It shows the spinning image for loading, once its done that goes away and then it goes light blue for couple seconds then back to the white page with the apple logo then brings me to the user login page. It also takes longer then usual to start up, load dock and the menu bar. I've read around and it seems people are saying its normal? but this just started happening.

Which model Macbook Pro do you have?
It also takes longer then usual to start up, load dock and the menu bar.
How large is your hard drive and how much hard drive space do you have left?
Go to your Account/Login Items and get rid of all you do not need.

  • What would cause a prolonged blue screen during start up?

I have an iMac desktop.  Recently I've had trouble with a prolonged blue screen during start up (approx. 10 mins) before it finally takes me to the login screen.  Any ideas why this is happening?

    Hi Jeff,
Open console in Applications>Utilities, check the system log for the date/time of the last problem Startup for clues.

I have not researched further in solving this issue for a couple of months.  Still using my iPhone 6+ 128GB with around 64GB free space, not dare to load more stuff at the risk of reboot loop.  I am still at iOS 8.1.  Anyone know would 8.1.3 solve the issue?  Thanks a lot.

  • My iMac is frozen on a blue screen during an update software for snow leopard. What do I do? Turn off my imac?

My iMac is frozen on a blue screen during an update of software for snow leopard. What do I do?  Should I turn off the computer?

do a hard shutdown of the mac (holding down the power button until it shuts off) then do an SMC reset, the following article tells how to do this:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
after doing this reset and restarting the mac, try again to install the update.

  • Imac Flashing blue screen

23" iMac from 08 or 09 suddenly started flashing a blue screen in early January. Took it into to the apple store they said they couldn't emulate the problem but they did some software updates "so hopefully that fixed the problem". It didn't. I ended taking it again, still they couldn't find the problem. I really frustrated now. Here are the things that I've tried on my own:
I updated all my software and reset permissions.
I used chrome, but at the apple store while running test they only used Safari. SO I thought Chrome might be the problem. I un-installed it. But still have the same issue.
I also noticed at the apple store they use their own power cord, I knew it might be a long shot but I bought a new power cord, didn't work.
Ive completely cleared and re-installed the operating system and didn't put any of my old file or programs on it thinking they might be the culprits, but no still flashing blue.
I've tried looking through post with other people that have the a similar issue, but they all seem to be connected to an external monitor which I do not have.

My Apple care just expired in February but I'm in contact with apple trying to figure something out since I took the computer to them twice before it expired but they couldn't figure it out.
I don't understand why at home it flashes like crazy but at the store it's fine. I downloaded the istat program, I'm not really sure what is normal but I feel like the room where I keep my computer is relativley cool and I don't think that's the problem. Here are the stats on my computer it has been running for about an hour with video running in the background while I browse the web (and yes it is currently flashing):
After doing some more research I also think It has to be the graphics cards, i'll talk to apple about it this weekend and see what I can do.
Thanks for the help guys! and sorry for all the typos in my first post, yikes!

  • MBP flashing blue screen after software updates

This morning, my 2011 MBP 17" 2.2GHz i7 (running 10.6.8 with all updates) suddenly started flashing between whatever I was doing, and a light blue screen every few seconds. (The same light blue screen that you get briefly when switching users and starting up). If I restarted, after a random period of a few minutes, the problem would return.
Things kept going during the blue periods (ie keystrokes worked, downloads continued etc)
I tried repairing the disc and permissions. I kept getting certain incorrect permissions coming up, which were related to coreimage IIRC. They were reported as being fixed, but as soon as I ran it again, the same errors came up.
Tried numerous restarts and repairs to no avail. Zapped the PRAM. Ended up reinstalling OSX from the original install discs (10.6.6), and the problem went away. I then did the first software update that came up, which was the 10.6.8 combo and a few other bits and pieces. Used the machine for a few hours with no problems.
I then ran software update again, which was:
    Thunderbolt update 1.0;
    Safari update 5.1.2;
    Security Update 2011-006;
    Java 10.6 update 6
The problem reappeared almost immediately, so I'm putting it down to one of those four updates. I'm leaning towards Safari, because on each occasion I got the blinking blue screen, safari was open (although in the background at least once). I'm also pretty sure that I updated Safari (alone) the night before the problems started.
    Anyone else having this issue?
EDIT: I should add that my MacPro isn't having this issue, and it has all the same updates installed except for Safari (still running 5.1.1).

I turned graphic card switching back on and ran the latest Safari off and on using youtube etc. with no problems. It used the HD 3000 card all the time for me.  I have all the latest updates for 10.6.8 installed on my Early 2011 15" Macbook Pro.  I've updated all my applications to eliminate the need for Rosetta.  If the problem returns, do a safe mode startup (shift key and power key) and then a re-start to re-built your startup cache.  You may have a startup item that's giving you a problem or one of your applications may be running in the back ground even after you quit it.  Also, the permission errors never seem to go away no matter how often you run the repair permissions. This doesn't seem to mean anything.  These "blue screen" problems probably have to do with with the Apple updates required to transition to Lion.  Lion doesn't use Rosetta and you can't run power PC apllications.  We had something that worked and Apple screwed it up.

  • Help MBP with flashing blue screen on start up!!!

hi, i have a macbook pro 2.4 with leopard on it, i was doing this little experiment with my mac mini which is G4 and leopard upgraded already. I was trying to set up the file sharing, screen sharing, and remote management with both of my MBP and mac mini G4. from the beginning everything seems fine and i only used the screen sharing on my mac mini (using mac mini to access MBP) after a while, i tried to quit the screen sharing and tried to restart my MBP as i feel its getting slow, after the restart thats when the problem occurred!!! it wont boot!!! after showing the apple log, it goes blue, then keeps flashing with blue and light blue screen and scrolling wheels! tried to do safe boot which is holding shift key, it just keeps the spinning wheel in the apple logo
so i ve tried to pop in my installation disc to do the disk utility, everything seems fine, during the process of verify permission, seen like 10 lines of saying group 0 should be 80 in library etc etc cant be sure, and the last line is ACL found, not expected in library, does ACL means Access Control List here? i know this is for networking terminology, but seems weird for the mac...
oh yeah forgot to mention that i tried to set up user account for the sharing system, like file sharing, only "Me" able to access with password on it, so in mac mini, using screen sharing, i input "Me" on my username and password to access screen sharing, everything works as expected except after the restart. i know my last option would be archive and install, but i would really like to know whats the main cause of this problem!! as i dont wanna repeat this again, and figure a solution for this. im not even sure if archive install will clean this mess up! luckily, thanks to time machines, my stuffs are back up, hopefully everything will be smooth by then, please help guys!!! thanks

Hold c, boot off the installer disk for your OS version and simply install OS X on top of the version your using.
Your files and programs should be fine.

Does the Time Machine back up Windows files/directories, also?
Windows is just a file in a virtual machine, so yes.
    Bootcamped needs the free WinClone.

  • System crash (blue screen) during CD burn

    Hello All,
I need your advise due to serious problem with my PC. Per technical specification located in the following site CPU support: the motherboard supports 133/266 MHz FSB and Ratio 12.5.
Unfortunately, I found out that my recently purchased computer doesn’t work at such frequency(FSB=133, Ratio = 12.5), namely, all operation related to the DVD-ROM (Pioneer DVD-120) or Samsung CD-R/RW eventually caused system crash. I tryed to reinstall the OS, however it has not solved the problem. Only frequency decreasing allows to avoid the crash(blue screen of death). The proper volatages and temperature value are as follows: Vcore = 1.74V. PS_3v = 3.25V, PS_5v = 4.95V, PS_12v = 12.24V,  Tcpu = 48C, Tsys = 33C.
    Please advise,
    Thanks, Raz Noam
    Here is my configuration:
    Athlon XP 2000+
    KT4V MS6712 motherboard
    256 Mb  DDR 333 Smasung
40 Gb IDE master on IDE1
60 Gb IDE slave on IDE1
    Samsung SW 248F master
    Pioneer DVD-120 slave
    Windows XP Home Edition

System crash that I have experienced occurs only during CD Burner or DVD activities. It is very random, however I have notice that when I am burning CD (test mode only) the system crash occurs quite often. I attribute it to the fact that this mode is perhaps harder than only play. However, system crash occurs also during play mode. The crash is actualy stop mode with different error core, I mean, stop 0xd1, 0x0A, 24, 77. BTW, I dissabled autoreboot option. So far it was no problem with reboot after crash. So, I suspected some problem with mainboard, however, perhaps, that PSU can impcat as well. Unfortunately, I have no experience with PC hardware, therefore I need your advice based on rich experience. What I dare to assume that the problem rather in hardware than in SW.

  • Lenovo 3000 N200 - Blue Screen during Startup

I have a 3000 N200 laptop running Windows XP which has begun showing a blue screen error then restarting during startup.
When turned on, it shows the Lenovo logo page then a page saying Windows did not start successfully last time. When I choose to start Windows in both normal and safe modes, the XP startup screen comes up then a blue screen flashes up for 1/2 a second then it restarts. I disabled restart due to system failure and read the error code, details are below:
    UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME
    Technical Information:
    *** STOP: 0x000000ED
    (0x86F5F030, 0xC0000006, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)
Choosing to start with command prompt loads files up to...system32\drivers\mup.sys,  then freezes and restarts.
I have tried to enter the rescue and recovery using the LenovoCare button and F11, but this begins to load then freezes on the first screen.
I rang Lenovo and they sent recovery discs but these have not worked, bringing up the Rescue and Recovery first screen with the Boot CD and freezing as with the LenovoCare/F11 buttons.
I will be ringing Lenovo again tomorrow but any advice in the meantime would be much appreciated.

  • Blue Screen during Windows install on SATA Raid1

    Hi Folks!
I have a BIG problem with my brand new Eclipse SLI.
I can't install Windows (tried Vista and XP x64). It crashes already in the beginning!!!
I'm not an OC,yet so all my settings are like default or AUTO. Only my memory I set to 1600 through automatic settings.
Flashed in a brand new 1.6 BIOS.
Now, anytime I start the Windows setup if crashes with a blue screen when it comes to the point it tries to access the hard discs.
I was already able to set up a new partition and then Visat was extracting files. But after a few minutes (1% finished) it crash.
The blue screen indicates that it had problems to write a file.
Thing is ... it's always at different times, but still at the beginning of the setup. Sometime it don't get the setup even running.
I tried the Drive Booster RAID and the JMicron. Always created a new RAID1!
Sometimes the board freezed even by entering the BIOS.
I already figured it my be to hot.
Here my temperatures.  CPU: 28- 35C, IOH: 50-68C, System: 35C
But I already read that IOH temperatur seems normal.
    So what's the problem?
    PLEEEEEAAAASSEEEEE HEEEEEEEEEELP !!!!

    Thanks!
Found myself a solution. Deactivated all additional features in the BIOS. Now it'S working even with 1600 RAM frequency.
Trying now to still do some OC without getting into the same trouble.
