Constant name has question mark inserted automatically

I have placed a DBL constant on my Block Diagram with the name "PrevFlow_sccm".  As soon as I leave text editing mode, this is changed to "P?revFlow_sccm".  Note the question mark.  I know the software is trying to tell me something but I cannot understand it.
I thought it might be a duplicate name warning but nothing turns up in the same VI with that name.
Any ideas?

Where did the control inside the cluster come from originally. I wonder if it has some unicode in it.

  • Some contacts have question marks inserted

So I have been trying to find a happy solution for automatic syncing between my mac, my blackberry and google contacts.  I am trying to do this so that I can have two phones address books stay synced.  Unfortunately somewhere in trying to make this work a large portion of my contacts were changed.  The main change is that thy now have 2 question marks after the first name and after the last name of the contact.  Many of these also had question marks inserted after the street address, city, state and zip code.  I have gone through and edited out everything on my mac address book but I still get the question marks appearing on my blackberry when I resync.  I have tried missing sync, google sync, the blackberry sync program and they all end up transferring contacts with question marks

I have the same problem.  It's an issue with google sync and the blackberries.  I have yet to find a solution.  It's very frustrating because this makes voice dialing from my address book impossible.  I've tried editing the contacts, but that doesn't work either.  The only thing that works is creating the contact on the blackberry, but I am not going to do this for 150+ contacts, emails, phones, etc, etc...

    Clean Install of Snow Leopard
         1. Boot the computer using the Snow Leopard Installer Disc or the Disc 1 that came
with your computer.  Insert the disc into the optical drive and restart the computer.
After the chime press and hold down the  "C" key.  Release the key when you see
a small spinning gear appear below the dark gray Apple logo.
         2. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue
button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
After DU loads select the hard drive entry from the left side list (mfgr.'s ID and drive
size.)  Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.  Set the number of
partitions to one (1) from the Partitions drop down menu, click on Options button
and select GUID, click on OK, then set the format type to MacOS Extended
(Journaled, if supported), then click on the Apply button.
         3. When the formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed
with the OS X installation and follow the directions included with the installer.
         4. When the installation has completed your computer will Restart into the Setup
Assistant. Be sure you configure your initial admin account with the exact same
username and password that you used on your old drive. After you finish Setup
Assistant will complete the installation after which you will be running a fresh
install of OS X.  You can now begin the update process by opening Software
Update and installing all recommended updates to bring your installation current.
Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1. From here you can upgrade to Yosemite by re-downloading it from the Purchases page in the App Store.

  • Quicktime icon has question mark on it

    Hi,
When I click on some websites, not all, I cannot get in and the screen changes to a Quicktime icon that has question mark on top of it.
I use Mac G5, Panther, FireFox.
    Thank you!

For a long time now I'v been also plagued with the same problem Q w/?. until today!! after reading all your problems I figure it out.
I have tried Firefox, Netscrape, Safari and Opera and even an old copy of internet explorer and keep on getting the Q&?.
So I said, what the heck and went for it. Here is what I did. I have a G4 laptop running Mac OS 10.4.10 but I'v been lazy on doing up dates cause I only use it when I'm out in the field doing a photo-shoot. The problem machine was my Dual 2 GHz Power Mac G5 running Mac OS 10.5.
Heres the fix, try this. All I did was copy the folder in your system "library/Internet Plug-Ins" folder from the laptop to the G5 and restart Safari and now everything works with no "Q?" .

I am resurrecting my old iMacG5 for my grandson. Appleworks has question mark in dock and does not load from bundled software on original installation discs. Can anyone help?

I'm sorry no-one has answered you yet - I'm afraid I don't know the answer to the question: but I wanted to put into your mind that starting up with AppleWorks at this stage isn't a good idea. The program was 'end-of-lifed' years ago, it won't run on Lion, and some of the document types created in it - Databases in particular - cannot be opened at all by any other program whatever. Word Processing documents can be opened in Pages, and Spreadsheets in Numbers (with some reservations in both cases), but building up a collection of AppleWorks documents at this stage is going to lead to problems later on.
It's difficult to know what to recommend for a PowerPC machine that would still be compatible with modern ones. An older version of Microsoft Office, perhaps, if you can find one which will run on PPC; but most of the modern Word Processors are Intel only. This is something you would need to investigate.

  • Launch pad has question mark in icon and won't launch

    Hello,
On my intel mac with lion the icon for launch pad has a question mark over it and wont launch. Also when I hit f4 it wont start launch pad. Any help would be appreciated.

Somehow you've managed to delete it.
    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
    2. Download it from the App Store to reinstall It's on your Purchases List* there.
For older versions that have been installed from Disk you'll need these additional steps:
2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
    /var/db/receipts/
    2c: on 10.7 or later they're at
    /private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
    3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
*Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4928
One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?
iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.

  • My MacBook has question marks on all folders and won't run ANY program. Help!

A week ago I was editing some photographs in Photoshop CS 5 extended. My computer has been running slow for a while so I thought that I would finish these files and then clear it of some photos since I know I've recently uploaded several gbs onto it.
The next day it was frozen. I had to shut it down and restart. It came on and now every folder has a question mark on it and none of the programs will open. They just bounce up and down and then the menu bar says Application not responding.
I have no idea what I need to do. I was going to update to Lion but I'm unsure if that's what I should do or if it needs some TLC from the apple store.
    Help?

A professional will image your drive and attempt a bit by bit file recovery method directly from the drive itself.
You see when you delete something, it's not quite erased yet, but the space the file took is available to be overwritten, so it's only a matter of time before that occurs and the file is really gone.
So they will recover what they can, and then restore your machine and it's software and return the recovered files.
The TimeMachine is certainly going to assist, good thing you got it.
The trick is to hire someone and quit using the computer until they rescue you, show you in person how to rescue yourself .
    Good Luck

  • Sent Mail shows as "Delivered" but has question mark in icon

I have a user with a few sent emails to multiple parties that are listed as "Transferred" in the mail properties but have the question mark icon next to it. The definition of the question mark icon reads: "The item couldnt be delivered to the destination post office or it failed to transfer to the Internet."
Am I right to assume that these emails are successfully being sent out but are receiving the question mark icon due to an error on a recipient's end?
    Thanks!

  • Application Pinned to Dock has question mark

    Hi-
I have Firefox & have pinned to to the dock. When I switch users & come back to my screen (the administrator), the Firefox Icon is in the dock with a question mark & will not load. I always have to do a Spotlight search for it to start it again.
Any suggestions? This is becoming an irritation.
    Thanks.

    Hello,
First, try trashing the Firefox preference file. Here's the name of the file:
org.mozilla.firefox.plist It's located here: /Home/Library/Preferences Open the Preferences folder, locate that file and drag it to the Trash. Empty the Trash and reboot. Now, go to Firefox in the Applications folder and double click to open it. After it launches, go to the Firefox icon in the Dock, select and then click: Keep In Dock.
Also, trash this file also: com.apple.dock.plist. Navigate to the same Preferences folder. Drag that file to the Trash... same drill.
It's ok to trash a pref file, your Mac will create a new pref file for you. They can get corrupted and cause the problems you are experiencing.
    Hope this helps,
    Carolyn

  • My macbook has question mark flashing on a grey screen and no functions, my macbook has question mark flashing on a grey screen and no functions

    Hi
My MacBook has a question mark flashing on a grey screen and no functions, help?

That folder with the question mark icon means that the MacBook can't find the boot directory. That can either mean it can't find the hard drive or the Operating System data on the hard drive is somehow corrupted.
Put your install DVD into the optical drive and reboot. As soon as you hear the boot chime, hold down the "c" key on your keyboard (or the Option key until the Install Disk shows up). That will force your MacBook to boot from the install DVD in the optical drive.
When it does start up, you'llsee a panel asking you to choose your language. Just press the Return key on your keyboard once. It will then present you with an Installation window. Completely ignore this window and click on Utilities in the top menu and scroll down to Disk Utility and click it. When it comes up is your Hard Drive in the list on the left?
If it is then click on the Mac OS partition of your hard drive in the left hand list. Then select the First Aid Tab and run Repair Disk. The Repair Disk button won't be available until you've clicked on the Mac OS partition on your hard drive. If that repairs any problems run it again until the green OK appears and then run Repair Permissions.
If your hard drive isn’t recognized in Disk Utility then your hard drive is probably dead.

  • Installed Yosemite. QT Has Question Mark When I launch An Inbedded Video

    iMac - recently installed Yosemite
I have videos embedded on the site Actors Access. I always use Safari. All the videos except the latest one that was upload through Actors Access work fine. The last one uploaded when previewed launches the box with Q and the question mark inside. Is this problem with the people who uploaded it? Is this a Safari issue? The video in question works fine on other Macs I own, including another iMax. But they are running on Mavericks.. Works fine on Firefox on my iMac with Yosemite. If 4 videos work on the Actors Access using Safari with Yosemite installed why does this particular video launch the QT Question mark. How do I fix i?  And I thank you for any answer.

Can you share the URL so we can test the page and its code?

  • IMac  has question mark on screen

My 17" iMac running Panther is usually kept in sleep mode but today I walked by it and it sounded like the fan was racing. I rebooted it and the fan racing stopped. Unfortunately when it rebooted the screen came up blank with a an icon of a folder with a question mark on it. Is this a software or hardware issue?
    Thanks for anybody's help.

    Could be either or both.
You can start the computer up from the Install disc DVD and see if Disk Utility
ran from there, can verify and/or 'repair disk.' You can also see about booting
up in SafeBoot mode and if the machine does respond eventually, see about
checking the choice in System Preferences> Startup Disk, if it's still the Mac HD.
The hard disk drive could be failing; or the Directory on the hard disk drive.
If the drive is original equipment and the computer more than 3 years old,
there is a possibility the drive could be failing; or there are read/write errors
on the drive, or bad sectors, etc. And if you have a full backup of the Mac HD
contents, you could consider seeing if Disk Utility can be used to Secure Erase
the computer's hard disk drive (over-write with zeros, one or more passes) and
then choose the partition map, and reformat the drive; then reinstall the OS X.
However, the simple things are obviously best tried first; even if you do have a
means of restoring from a clone, & have a clone on an external hard disk drive.
Or, if you have a retail copy of Disk Warrior on DVD or CD for your OS X, it may
be a good idea to see if it can find fault & repair hard drive Directory issues.
Of course, there are other possibilities, depending on your skill & means.
Perhaps other readers will have quicker ideas on this topic?
{Which iMac build version (specs) do you have this issue with? Is there an a copy
    of the original Apple Hardware Test on CD or on the boot DVD? If so, test with it.}
    Good luck & happy computing!

These are the downloads and the settings you need in order to view/hear pretty much everything that the net can throw at you: The setup described below has proved repeatedly successful on both PPC and Intel macs, but nothing in life carries a guarantee!
It is known to work in the great majority of cases with Safari 3.0.4, QT 7.3 and OS 10.4.11.
Assuming you already run Tiger versions OS 10.4.9 or above (this has not yet been verified with Leopard) and have Quicktime 7.2 or above, and are using Safari 2 or 3, download and install (or re-install even if you already had them) the latest versions, suitable for your flavor of Mac, of:
    RealPlayer 10 for Mac from http://forms.real.com/real/player/blackjack.html?platform2=Mac%20OS%20X&product= RealPlayer%2010&proc=g3&lang=&show_list=0&src=macjack
Flip4Mac WMV Player from http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/wmcomponents.mspx (Windows Media Player for the Mac is no longer supported, even by Microsoft)
    Perian from http://perian.org/
    Adobe FlashPlayer from http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1ProdVersion=ShockwaveFlash
(You can check here: http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/ to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS.)
In Quicktime Preferences, under advanced, UNcheck Enable Flash, and under Mime settings/Miscellananeous only check Quicktime HTML (QHTM).
In Macintosh HD/Library/Quicktime/ delete any files relating to DivX (Perian already has them).
Now go to Safari Preferences/Security, and tick the boxes under Web Content (all 4 of them).
Lastly open Audio Midi Setup (which you will find in the Utilities Folder of your Applications Folder) and click on Audio Devices. Make sure that both Audio Input and Audio Output, under Format, are set to 44100 Hz.
Important: Now repair permissions and restart.
The world should now be your oyster!
