Constant need to reboot powerbook

After applying the updates (battery, bluetooth and 10.4.4) which became available this week, I have needed to reboot the powerbook at least three times every day.
Here is a rundown:
Battery=> no need to run update
Bluetooth=> update did not work. Never finished.
10.4.4=> updated fine.
It would appear that I need to reboot more frequently when I close the lid and open it later. Though I have also seen it work fine for about 10 minutes after the lid was opened and then I get the message that I need to reboot.
Anyone else having this problem? The computer ran GREAT before I did the updates.
Also, anyone know how I can fix it? I don't even know where to begin to trouble shoot it.
Thanks,
jason

yes, it does look like Kernal Panic!
I don't know if this helps anyone, but here is the panic.log file entries: Note. Previous to these entries the last entry was Sept 5th.

  • Constant need to "reboot"

I am now on my second Curve in less than 30 days and am on the Sprint network.  The issue is, with the first phone and now the second phone, that I have to pull out the battery, put it back in and let it reboot every day before I can begin receiving e-mail or accessing internet.  I thought it was a phone problem so exchanged for a new phone yesterday but the same issue happened this morning.  Once I reboot, the phone is fine until the next day.  I have tried leaving it turned on all night and that didn't work either.  This is driving me nuts.  Is it Sprint or the phone?

If the first step did not help, do the following:
Make selective backup as it is described here:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/rim/board/message?board.id=8100&view=by_date_ascending&message.i...
    Backup only data you need.
After that on your device go to Options - Security Options - General Settings
Open menu and select "Wipe handheld"
After that restore saved information to the device.

  • Constant need to reboot AppleTV *AND* restart iTunes for Home Sharing to work

    Environment:
    iTunes Host Computer:
AppleTV's: Three. All Model A1469, All currently running latest version of OS, [7.1 (7003)]
Network: Wired Ethernet (1000MB) using three D-Link Green DSG-1008G dumb routers, one Apple Airport Extreme (running 7.6.4), and one  AT&T DSL Gateway directly connected to the Airport Extreme WAN port.
Situation: Since the latest updates to OS 7 on the AppleTV, and 10.10 - Yosemite on the iTunes Host Computer, I've had issues with Home Sharing NOT being able to hold a connection between the AppleTV and the iTunes Host computer. This disconnect shows on up as a "...turn on home sharing in iTunes..." screen on the AppleTVs. (I should also note that you can't access Home Sharing during this interruption via another computer either. I've tried this, thinking it was an issue with the AppleTV, however, the computer just will not see the Home Share. Once iTunes is restarted, the Home Share shows up in the iTunes shared list.)
I actually think there are TWO problems here; 1) the AppleTV loss of connection to the Home Share, 2) The need to refresh the iTunes Home Share.
Problem 1 is demonstrated by this example: IF I restart iTunes, then wake an AppleTV to view content, I get the "...turn on Home Sharing..." screen. If, however, I do nothing else BUT reset the AppleTV, the Home Share works perfectly.
Problem 2 is demonstrated by this example: IF I wake an AppleTV, then reset that same AppleTV without restarting iTunes on the host computer, I get the "...turn on Home Sharing..." screen.
The ONLY way I don't get the "...turn on Home Sharing..." screen is when I reset the AppleTV, AND restart iTunes. Somehow I don't think this is the way this should be working.
NOTE: In all of these scenarios, I've never had to re-login to Home Sharing on the iTune host. The credentials are working.
NOTE 2: I've completed ALL of the Apple recommended troubleshooting steps, and a good number of other ones suggested by this forum, including renaming the host computer, changing the Home Share Name, reissuing IP addresses, rewiring the network, opening or shutting off of all firewalls, etc.
Any assistance with this issue would be greatly appreciated.

  • Tab very slow and in  constant need of restart

I just bought this tablet from a friend who finished out her contract. As soon as I got it I did the reset, and started downloading apps that i knew i would use, not very many only 3 or 4 is all that i had gotten to.  The tablet started getting really slow when i would use the kindle reading app that came preinstalled.
I tried clearing the memory and it still slowed down and just froze on me after while. So I did another reset, and this time I didn't install anything. I mainly use the tablet for the kindle reading app that came already installed on it, every once in a while i browse the internet and check email, it's still it's incredibly slow after I read for half and hour or an hour, and I have to restart it again.   I've checked the updates and it says the system is up to date, when i check to see how much ram is being used it's just about all of it, and I'm talking maybe 100 MB of RAM is open when I have no applications running. I tried to clear it out a few times to to see what would happen, it doesn't even really help how much RAM is in use, the meter never goes down more than 10 or so, and or if it does it immediately rises right back up to where it was before, i have no idea if that's normal or not, just an observation I made.
The only thing I've really done to it is take out the 16 GB micro SD card that came with it, and replace it with a 32 GB. Everything else is exactly the same I just can't figure out why it slows down so much then freezes on me.

Just wanted to thank the two people who responded to the post; and give an update, I think i have finally fixed the problem. One of the things I said in the original post was that the replaced the 16 GB SD Card with a 32 GB SD Card. Just because I wanted to trying completely undoing everything I changed with the tablet, I put the original SD Card back into the tablet and did another reset. Strangely enough it seems to have worked, and I say strangely because from everything I've read indicates that the tablets are supposed to work fine with a 32 GB card. Previously the tablet had gotten to the point that I could only use it for about 20 minutes before I needed to reboot it. After putting the original SD Card back in this morning I have not needed to reboot it at all today. There is no longer a lag in moving for one screen to another, and when reading the tablet is perfect. For whatever reason the 32 GB SD Card seems to have been the problem.

  • I Beta tested 4.0 RC1 and now can not upgrade to 4.0. Error message is need to reboot to complete prior instalation. Have removed all previous versions of Firefox, rebooted and still same error message.

I Beta tested up to and including 4.0 RC1 without major problems. However I can not now upgrade to 4.0. Same error message time and again, "need to reboot to complete prior upgrade instalation". I rebooted several times, then tried first removing all previous versions of Firefox using both MS Add/Remove and then iolo System Mechanic, then again downloading 4.0. Even after rebooting same error message. I can not therefore install/use Firefox.

    Do a clean (re-)install:
    * Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    * Firefox 4.0: http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html
    * Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
    * Don't remove personal data if you uninstall the current version.
    * It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere (not in the Firefox program folder) and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

  • HP Envy m6, Updated for Windows 8.1, hard drive needs to reboot

    Hey,
I've just updated my software to get the new Windows 8.1. On completing my updates, I recieved a message saying my hard drive has changed and that I need to reboot it. How do I do this? Do I risk losing my files? HELP
    HpEnvym6beats

Hello hpenvym6beats. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums. I understand the computer provided a message, indicating the hard drive has changed. It shouldn't become a huge issue, as it does occur sometimes, after completing updates. Just turn off the computer and turn it back on. Your files should not be lost, after completing this task.
Please respond if you have any other questions or concerns.

I downloaded Firefox 4 Beta and everytime I tried to open up the browser, I get a message stating I need to reboot the computer in order to complete the upgrade; I've rebooted the computer at least 4 times. I even tried to download a previous version of Firefox and I am still getting the same message that I need to reboot the computer in order to complete the previous upgrade.

I completely uninstalled itunes and reinstalled and it worked then when I ejected unplugged and plugged it back in it had the same problem over again.. I have no idea what to do?

  • I need to reboot my HP Elitebook 6930p hard drive but no F11

I need to reboot the hard drive on my HP Elitebook 6930p. I'm using Windows 7. I hit escape upon turning the computer on and then F9 and chose the hard drive reboot option but then after hitting escape again there is no F11 option to take me to System Recovery. The F11 key does nothing and it's not even listed as an option. Does this mean I need to get discs to reboot and if so, does anyone know where I can buy them low price? If not, is there a step here in the reboot process that I'm missing? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you. Paul

    Hi:
Yes you can get any version of W7 that the product key on your notebook is good for at the link below.
Use the applicable SP1 Media Refresh ISO file as they are the latest ones.
    http://forums.mydigitallife.info/threads/14709-Windows-7-Digital-River-direct-links-Multiple-Languag...
After you download the ISO file make sure you got the whole advertised file size.
Then use this tool to transfer the ISO file to a 4 GB USB flash drive or DVD.
The tool will also make the media bootable.

After a download update 4.0, I cannot launch. Message says I need to reboot to complete a previous update. I rebooted 5 times to no avail.I have tried searching for xpicleanup.dat to no avail as suggested. What now?

I was able to get live chat support to solve the problem in my post. It worked immediately. Here is what I was told to do. I needed to perform a clean installation Hopefully, it will work for you, too.
"To perform a clean installation, first close Firefox completely. (This chat window
must be closed if it's in Firefox) Then, rename "Mozilla Firefox" to "Old Firefox".
(On 32-bit Windows, this is C:\Program Files\. On x64 Windows, this is
"C:\Program Files (x86)". On Mac, Firefox is in /Applications) Finally, re-install
    Firefox normally from http://www.firefox.com"
Since I had already downloaded 4.0, I just went to my download file after renaming the file and ran it.

  • WRT54G Ver 6 Constant Need To Reset!

I purchased a WRT54G Ver 6.0 Router in April to bring to Iraq with me.  I have it connected to my iDirect 3000 Satellite Modem, with the static IP config input into the WRT54G.
I have two computers on my desk, my personnal XPS 1710 with Vista and my Work D600 Latitude with XP.  Both computers exhibit the same problems at the same time.  I have even had other computers connected and have had the same problem.
My problem seems to be a constant need to reset the WRT54G Router.  I was connecting wirelessly.  The system seemed to operate fine for a day or two.  I started to have problems with the connection to the internet dropping.  When it did this, I could not connect to the WRT54G setup page either.  I figured something locally here at the Camp in Iraq might have been interfering with the wireless, so I ditched the wireless and have been using wired connections.  The problems have not stopped.  I am constantly having to unplug and reset the router to reconnect.  When it hangs up, I cannot even connect to the setup page.  Occasionally, it will find itself without reseting the router, but most times, I have to reset.
I have tried factory default reseting and manually reentering my settings.  I have just updated the firmware, but it didn't seem to solve anything.  In the past few minutes while trying to search for this problem here on this forum, the router dropped the connection twice.  The networking icon on the computer still indicates a connection, on the Vista is shows that a local connection is available only (during the problem).
I have read a little online and this seems to be a common problem for Linksys.  I have 2 more of these routers, one at home and one at my office in the States.  Both have had the problems, just not as severe.  This router requires reseting at least 15 times a day during my 12 hour shift.
I bought the Linksys Routers because they did have a reputation for reliability and quality.  Boy, I guess I should have researched this one a bit more.
I have 5 IP addresses from my Satellite ISP, so I am considering configuring the Router as a Switch or HUB, but I am unsure on how to do this, or of it will even solve my problems.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Vincent

I am having the almost exactly the same problem. It started about a week ago, (just like alot of others I have read on here recently) and I too will have no access to the set up page once it drops the net. I can still acess other computers on the router, but no net and no router set-up page until I reset it. I'm running the same router, without the firmware update. I have 4 desktops directly into the router..and one laptop wireless. Most of the time, the net will stay on for all the computers for surfing and email. Maybe once or twice a day it will drop access to the internet. a simple unplugging of the power cord resets it and everything is peachy. BUT....try to start a download.(usind DAP *download accelerator plus* or a bit torrent)...WHOA! it's anywhere from an instant drop to maybe ten minutes then drop. Most assuredly it will drop. we have had this router since January, and until a week ago, it worked just fine. no problems. Last week, our ISP upgraded their equipment and increased the bandwidth. (we have to use a cellular connection with a static IP being out in the boonies far enough that cable and DSL are still not available) The problems started at the same time and I thought it might be a problem with them. After testing one of the computers with a direct connection to the internet modem, everything, including a major download, worked just fine. It is definately a router problem. I spent quite a lengthy time on the phone with Linksys tech support, and the nice lady had me change the MTU rate from 1500 to 1300. It seemed to work, but about an hour after being done with the support call, things started to go wonky again. I am just about at my wits end!! Nothing has been changed on the router settings except that one thing that tech support instructed me to do. I am kinda leary about upgrading the firmware because I have been seeing a ton of *my router wont work with firmware update* or *now my router is frozen* posts. I have to type in a ton of settings because I am using a static IP and I really don't want to do all that again!! lol PLEASE, somone have a solution to this problem! It is driving me mad!! I would really hate to have to buy a new router, but my roomate is about to that point if this doesn't get fixed soon.

  • Need to reboot my device to receive mails since An...

I have four mails accounts in my N8, i use push mails. Since Anna, several times a day, i can see my phone starting to sync one mails account (the white circle on top left is turning) but will never stop sync and will never receive email for all my accounts. It can last hours.... always sync and no mail! I need to reboot my phone to keep on receiving mails. Do you have it too? Thnk you.

Yes, I have the same issue since installing Anna too (and many more: /t5/Nseries-and-Symbian-Smartphones/N8-auto-restart-after-updating-Anna/td-p/1122125/highlight/true/...).
But who is left at Nokia to help us?
Or at least acknowledge that these major issues are under investigation?
