Constant "Not Delivered" on SMS.

Sprint Service w/ iPhone 5.
A lot of times I send a text it will say "not delivered" so I hit the try again button.  The person on the receiving end tells me they are getting my msgs 2x.  What is causing this and what can I do?  I've done a reboot (press the home and power at the same time) that hasn't worked.

I am also having this issue.  Some text messages I have sent (not using iMessage) are being labeled as "Not Delivered" by my iPhone.  Picture attachments are also being not delievered.  I have done "Reset Network Settings", "Reset All Settings", even dialed ##update# to make sure my network updates are up to par, but it has not resolved the issue (it only seems to give a temporary fix).
However, the text messages (no picture attachments) DO GO THROUGH THE NETWORK.  I have confirmed with my contacts whether they have recieved the text or not, and the ones indicated as "Not Delivered" in my iPhone they do recieve.  The reason why they would receive duplicates is because I would force the iPhone to resend the "Not Delievered" texts.  The issue has become more of a nuisance not knowing if the messages do really go through, and I sure do not want to bombard my contacts with the duplicate texts.
I am not sure if this is a Sprint network issue or an iPhone issue.  Not too sure either if non-Sprint-iPhone users are having the same issue (Verizon and ATT).  I was really excited on finally getting a smartphone (chose iPhone 5 over GS3) but I'm a little disapopinted with this little bug.  I've also posted in Sprint forums, waiting to see what they say.

Not able to send IMessage through I phone 5 and as well as IPad Air. Getting a message stating that message not delivered! Can any suggest to set right this?!
    Thanks!

You need an active Sim with text message capabilities to send SMS messages as they go through your carrier. You need an internet connection to send iMessages to other iOS devices.
If you are connected to the internet and cannot send iMessages, I suggest you sign off iMessage on both iPhone and iPad and then sign back in again.
Make sure your "send from" in settings is appropriate.  For example if you have selected send from your phone number and your sim card is not on the phone, this might be a problem, so if you do not want to put the sim back on the phone, then select an iCloud account or other email account to send from.
Make sure the person you are trying to reach has "received at" properly selected on their iDevices.

  • IMessage getting "Not Delivered" error, Message Send Failure

I upgraded to ios5 on my 3GS last night, seemed to have no problems, no errors.  When I try sending a text another iphone users, it defaults to sending an iMessage, but then says "Not Delivered" in red, with a red exclamation point next to it.  My daughter, on the same network and same house can send imessages to me, but I do not receive them.
In my settings, I've tried turning iMessage on and off, tried setting "Send As SMS" both on and off, no changes.  "Receive At" has my phone number, and my apple id email address.  I've tried restoring and reinstalling ios, restarting the phone numerous times, nothing seems to work.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,

I'm in the same boat with my new 4S. I installed 5.0.1 last night and it was working fine until this morning. When I woke up, I tried to send a text message with no luck. iMessage works fine, and I can RECIEVE text messages. Just no dice on sending any. At all.

  • Text messages on iphone 5s getting error message not delivered

when attempting to send a text messages on iPhone 5s getting error message not delivered with a red explanation mark. I have filed cases with carrier and it comes back as device, some messages do go thru fine and then it will give the error for several message and then back to working again. Please Help.

    Hi
I am NOT trying to be mean or patronizing so my apologies if this comes across that way
    That said
SMS texts are sent on a part of the same carrier wave that carries voice calling and conversation as opposed to data - which is why even non smart phones can text - it is the unused portion of the spectrum that initially carriers were making money off of
    http://computer.howstuffworks.com/e-mail-messaging/sms.htm
In other words - to be able to text - one has to have a plan that supports that
Also that is why in some plans international texts have a cost whereas one can merrily iMessage from anywhere in the world and get away with it free
So - if the texts are not leaving your phone - chances are that they do not have a channel to do that - that is an AT&T issue

  • Why are i messages not delivered?

Why are some I messages not delivered?

Imessages is only for use between Apple devices that are registered for Imessages.
It is not a standard SMS/MMS system like on cellular phones.

  • Images sent by iMessage always come back "Not Delivered

When I try to send images from Photos via iMessage, nothing works.  I've tried being connected via LTE.  I've tried being connected by multiple different wi-fi connections.  I've tried sending to the recipients phone and to multiple Apple accounts.  Nothing at all works.  I send, and a few seconds later, it bounces with a "Not Delivered" and no explanation as to why.  Text iMessages work fine.
I'm using an iPad with wi-fi and LTE, on AT&T.  I get a notification reading "The message to [person's name] failed to send
I've tried sending it from a Verizon iPhone 5S as well, and the exact same thing happens.  I'm completely puzzled.

    Hi Obscuranta,
Welcome to the Support Communities!  The article below will help you troubleshoot the issue you are having with images not being delivered in the Messages app.
    iOS: Using Messages
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3529
Messages lets you exchange text messages with other SMS/MMS devices using your cellular connection, and with other iOS devices using iMessage.
iMessage is an Apple service that lets you send unlimited messages over an active Wi-Fi (or cellular data*) connection to other iOS devices using iOS 5 or later or Macs using OS X Mountain Lion or later.
How do I enable SMS/MMS for use with Messages?
SMS and MMS messaging requires an appropriate plan from your carrier for use on iPhone. Contact your carrier for more information.

  • IMessages not delivered on Mac

I have an iPhone 6 and MacBook Pro 2001 - everything is up to date. My iMessages stopped sending on my Mac showing a red error "not delivered" every time i try to send any iMessage, but SMS works for those without iPhones. I have read so many posts and tried just about everything and nothing is working for the past 2+ month. I haven't had the time to get help from apple because I am in grad school and need my laptop most of my time. If anyone has any suggestions please help!!!

    Back up all data.
Quit Messages if it’s running. Force quit if necessary. Relaunch it and test after each of the following steps. If the problem isn't resolved, quit again and go on to the next step.
    Step 1
Make sure you know the ID and password you use with iMessage. Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
Select the login keychain from the list on the left side of the Keychain Access window. If your default keychain has a different name, select that.
If the lock icon in the top left corner of the window shows that the keychain is locked, click to unlock it. You'll be prompted for the keychain password, which is the same as your login password, unless you've changed it.
    From the menu bar, select
Keychain Access ▹ Keychain First Aid
from the menu bar and repair the keychain.
From the Category list in the lower left corner of the window, select
               My Certificates
Look carefully at the list of certificates in the right side of the window. If any of them is marked with a red "X" as expired or invalid, delete it. Also delete all items with "iMessage" or "com.apple.idms" in the name, whether valid or not.
    Now select
                Passwords
in the Category list. Enter "ids" (without the quotes) in the search box in the toolbar of the window. Delete all items of type "application password" that have a name beginning in any of the following ways:
                ids:
                IDS:
                com.apple.ids:
Quit Keychain Access. Log out and log back in.
    Step 2
Hold down the option key and select
              Go ▹ Library
from the Finder menu bar. Move the following items from the Library folder to the Trash (some may not exist):
              Containers/com.apple.corerecents.recentsd
              Caches/com.apple.Messages
              Caches/com.apple.imfoundation.IMRemoteURLConnectionAgent
              Containers/com.apple.iChat
              Containers/com.apple.soagent
              IdentityServices
Leave the Library folder open. Log out and log back in.
    Step 3
Go back to the Finder and move the following item from the open Library folder to the Desktop:
              Messages
Note: you are not moving the Messages application. You’re moving a folder named “Messages.”
If Messages now works, delete the Messages folder on the Desktop. Otherwise, quit Messages again. Put back the folder you moved, overwriting the newer one that may have been created in its place.
    Step 4
In the Preferences subfolder, there may be several files having names that begin with any of the following strings:
              com.apple.iChat
              com.apple.ids
              com.apple.imdsmsrecordstore
              com.apple.imessage
              com.apple.imservice
Move them all to the Desktop. There may also be a file with the name "com.apple.imagent.plist". Move that to the Trash.
Also in the Preferences folder, there's a subfolder named "ByHost". Open it and do the same thing.
Log out and log back in. Test again. This time Messages should perform normally, but your settings will be lost. You may be able to put back some of the files you moved to the Desktop in this step. Relaunch and test after each one. Eventually you should find one or more that causes Messages to malfunction. Delete those files and recreate whatever settings they contained.
If the issue is still not resolved, quit Messages again and put all the items you moved to the Desktop back where they were. You don’t need to replace the items you moved to the Trash. Stop here and post your results.
If you later decide that you don’t like the results of Steps 3 and 4, you can undo them completely by quitting Messages and restoring the items you deleted in those steps from your backup.

  • HT4528 iOS 7.1picture won't send to another iPhone user. It says "delivered" then goes to " not delivered" with red !. Does this on iPad and iPhone

So I have been trying to send my boyfriend pictures from over the weekend. He has an iPhone 5s as do I. When I go to send him a picture from either my iPad mini or my iPhone 5s it says "delivered" then a couple seconds later says "not delivered" with the red ! . This is very irritating. I am sending photos via SMS or email and they keep saying not delivered.  So i try again and then the person gets them several times but my phone still says NOT DELIVERED.  Then i send photos to another person and it said the photo was delivered as SMS but they didn't get it...
    Any ideas ???
I have iphone 4S and just upgraded to IOS 6

I have been having this issue for the last two weeks, too. I've rebooted my phone a number of times, reset my network settings 3 times, reset my entire phone once, removed my Sim card twice... I've feel like I've done everything I can based on the troubleshooting I've found online. Seems like an aweful lot of people are having this problem. Constanting getting the "not delivered" when people are actually getting the message. I'll send it as a text message becuase it says not delivered and they will get it twice. Same thing happenes on their end and I'll get stuff twice. I'll send something once and the other person gets it multiple times. Just happens with pictures, and just over the last two weeks or so. This is happening with several different contacts, all of us have updated software. One has an iphone 4S, a couple of us have a 5 and the others all have the 5S. It's driving us all CRAZY.

Yes I have turned imessage off a number of times and that does not seem to he doing the trick, and it is not delivering them then I have to press on the photo and either chose try again or send as text message, I have had the setting on to not allow sending pictures as texts (so they can only send as imessage) since I got my phone in January and it has always worked until now, I have turned that off to allow me to send them as picture messages now but it's still not working over iMessage, I have also tried it using 3G and not wifi

  • IPhone "not delivering" text to one number - all others seem fine

    Hi,
A friend of mine is in China and has encountered a bizarre problem.
He had a China Mibile SIM card but on Sunday , bought a China Unicom card so as to get 3G.
Everything works fine, except that he cannot text (SMS) one particular friend who lives nearby him.
Phone calls are not a problem and he can receive texts from her, but my friend tries to text he just gets the red exclamation icon and it says "Not Delivered".
Other numbers he has tried have no problems.
Anyone know what might be causing this?
    Cheers

I've just switched SIM cards with someone else who is on P&G o2 and has an IPhone 5 running 6.1.2. My sim in their phone still won't send texts to the problem number yet their sim in my phone will? Think it might be a network issue?

  • IMessage regularly 'not delivered'

I've done searches on here and the web in general but cannot find a solution to this. Someone please help if you can...
Most days, when I send the first iMessage to anyone who I KNOW is on an iPhone with iMessage enabled, it says '! Not Delivered'. I try again, still fails. I then use the 'Send as SMS' function - it goes (green), they reply via iMessage (comes up with the heading 'iMessage' before their message) and then it works for a bit. If there's then a gap between messages of a couple of hours or more, same thing all over.
This is driving me mad and I CANNOT find a way to fix this. It happened on my old iPhone 4 with iOS 5, 6 and 7 (in fact I ended up switching iMessage off and relying on SMS for a couple of years) and it is still happening on my new iPhone 6 Plus with iOS 8.1.3...

    Hello tsphipps,
I know you have said you have done some searches but what kind of troubleshooting have you done on your end. Have tried out the troubleshooting below? It will have you check the settings on your iPhone to deleting conversation threads and starting news ones. Let me know if you still have issues after going over the article.
