Constant Resets on wireless, not wired

When connected wirelessly, my ATV began to reset every time I started up iTunes. The ATV would appear in iTunes, then freeze, disappear, Apple Logo and rset screen. Restart ATV and repeat. It tried power cycling the unit, no joy.
But, when I connected via wired Ethernet, it sync'd without a problem, AND now the wireless syncing works too.
The problem began when I soft reset the ATV because there was no audio out. At the time iTunes was running and the ATV was visible in . The reset fixed the audio problem, but appeared to corrupt the sync connection in a way that only the wired Ethernet could fix. Maybe switching networks forces a new port connection or new sync keys.
This is the second time connecting wired has fixed a wireless sync issue.
This isn't a question, just a point of interest for people troubleshooting their units.

Be prepared to be moving on to comcast then, I've had the same issue for 3 months now, 3 techs, 20+ hours of phone calls, multiple no call backs and been hung up on a few times, even here my topic gets locked and no help is provided Verizon doesn't seem to be willing to fix actualy problems with their service so by all means switch to a company who will

  • AirTunes works on wireless, not wired - same pc

    AirTunes works perfectly when my pc is connected to my router via wireless, but when I am only connected via wired lan, the speakers aren't detected. The Airport Admin Utility also detects my AE via wireless, but via lan I have to use the Other… button and enter its ip address and password (indicating that there is still some kind of connection).
    Likewise with my laptop.
    Turning off Windows firewall makes no difference. Wireless and lan cards are on the same subnet. Airport light is always green.
    I have Airport Express v6.3 configured as a client,
    D-Link DSL-G604T router (wireless + lan) with latest firmware,
    iTunes 7.02.16,
    Airport Admin 4.2,
    Windows XP SP2
    The forum has been great to get me as far as this (it's been a battle), but I haven't seen anyone with this problem.
    Thanks a lot.
    (In case you're wondering, I want to take the wireless network card out of my pc because it causes it to crash at random.)

    There will be no conflict at all. You can have as many A-TV's as you like.
    The limits for home sharing are 5 computers and unlimited devices. (A-TV is considered a device)

  • Constant disconnect for wireless and wired for the past two weeks...

    And it's becoming worse and worse. I don't understand and Verizon has escalated my problem - BUT NO ONE HAS CALLED ME BACK. It's been over two weeks. I've restarted, reset, rebooted, screen shared with tech support. They even sent me a new modem. Both modems behave the same way. I know it's an outside line issue. It has to be. This started after a bad storm. They won't listen though. Tonight - I ordered Comcast Internet. They are coming to install on Thursday. If Verizon can't fix by then they are done in my book!

  • My Canon MX922 will not print wireless or wired.

    My CANON MX922 printer will not print wireless or wired. I used suggestions in Community such as "MX922 not connecting wirelessly, 7-6-15, post 1362, 10-17-15". (No solution). I worked with a great rep., by phone,for one hour. (No solution). My MG6220 has worked wirelessly, for two years, on the same Lenovo computer with Windows 7. THANKING YOU FOR TAKING THE TIME TO HELP ME.

    I tried that and the computer still can not recognize the printer.  I used the CD that came with it to reinstall it and all goes well until the very end when the last window pops up and says it can not find the printer.I went and bought a new printer last night Canon MG5622 since it uses the same ink cartridges and I have a lot of of inkI didn't want to waste.  This printer installed easily and works great.Not sure what happened with the other one but perhaps I'll pass it to my sister with the CD and see if it will install onher computer.thank you for your help, you're awesome for trying!Diane

  • WRT54G2 v1 - Internet is Slow Wireless AND WIRED

    OK, so I get my internet from a ethernet cable connected to the wall (I dont know if its cable or dsl because I live in an apartment) . When I connect from the wall to my Macbook the internet is fast with Mbps around 30. But, when I connect the ethernet cable into my router and try to access the internet, wireless or wired through the router it takes 15 seconds to load a Yahoo page or a Facebook page
    Now the confusing part. When I use the wireless on my PS3 (set up with auto setting on it) it goes fast enough where it can even stream HD Netflix movies and fast enough to not get lag on Call of Duty or figting games. But, when I wanna look at a web page on my iPod Touch, Blackberry Phone, Macbook Pro, and 3DS it takes ages to load one. Interestingly enough I tried SpeedTest.net on my Macbook and these are my result when connected wirelessly (still takes ages to load a webpage, and it doesnt load hulu or youtube videos).
    Any advice will help!

    As the previous poster suggested do a hard reset by holding in the reset button for at least 30 second then reconfigure the router if needed. You can also try the 30-30-30 reset where by you hold in the reset button for 30 second, then while still holding in the reset button, remove the power and wait 30 seconds, then while still pressing the reset button, reapply the power and wait another 30 seconds then release the reset button and reconfigure the router if needed.
    It isn't clear if you are using some kind of broadband modem. If you are not using a broadband modem, have you tried to connect the Ethernet cable that comes from the wall to one of the four networking ports on the back of the router rather than the router's WAN/Internet port? Its possible your building all ready is using a router/hub. If this is the case and your computer gets an IP address from the building's router then log into the router and on the Basic Setup page disable the router's DHCP server to avoid conflicts with the building existing DHCP server.

  • 327W wireless not working

    I have a 327W that is having difficulty with wireless. I configured it for wireless, applied the changes, and wireless worked fine. My laptop and my wife's laptop both connected. The next day, neither laptop would connect. I could see the signal excellent strength, but the connection would not complete.
    I checked the 327 via wired connection, and all the settings were the same. Re-verified laptops matched the settings and no connection. Re-booted a laptop and it won't connect. Checked all settings, everything matches. Turned off wireless, applied, re-enabled wireless then laptops connect again but will not reconnect again without resetting the wireless settings in the 327W.
    I have tired this with and without WEP security enabled. Each way I get the same results. Initially, the laptops can connect, but if the connection is lost (reboot, leave area, etc) they ill not reconnect. The same laptop connects everyday with my work wireless with no issues in 2 years, so laptop is good.
    Does my 327 have a hidden wireless lockout or something? Should I just get a new one?

    I did not change the SSID. The laptop still can see the wireless router with excellent signal strength. I can select the router and click connect, but the connection will not complete.
    If WEP is off, the computer tries the connection for several seconds, then returns to the connection window without completing the connection.
    If WEP is on, the computer asks me to verify the WEP pass key, which I then enter in. After that it does the same as above, finnaly returning to the conneciton window without completing the connection.
    Ok, I think I know what is going on and what to do.
    #1 It sound to me that you are connecting to a another wireless network that has the same SSID.
    #2 Your directions are to
    a) have a computer connected by a wired connection and go into the router change the SSID.
    For example if the default SSID is Linksys, you could change it to Linksys1.
    b) And connect to that SSID (the one that you changed it to) using wireless.
    #3 If you need any help with changing the SSID (once you have a wired connection and you are logged into the router), please post..
    #4 If this does not fix/resolve the issue, we can continue to trouble shoot to see what is wrong...

  • The best way to connect wireless and wired for a WRT160N.

    It took me about 4 hours to find out how to connect wireless and wired to a network using model WRT160N.  Here is what I have done.  First install the CD when it says there is not connection connect your PC, Modem and router Andy any wireless are wired products, after that do what the linksys advisor tells your which is default.  When it gives you the security key write it down because you will need it for your wireless and wired Products.  Under security mode  type your SDD name and where key 1 is type your security password with was given to you.   Remember all you wireless products have to have the same SDD Like Linsys and all your wired products have to have a different name like Linsys2 but your Key 1 numbers has to stay the same.  That is all you have to do.  Remember that wireless and wired has to be in sequence.  That should do it.

    Hi David Hamilton1;
    I guess that all depends on how critical your data is in relation to how much time you want to spend doing the erasure. Those higher level erasure options can take a significant amount of time to complete. Personally I don't have anything on my Mac that I think is worth more time then a simple erasure even if that does leave it some what recoverable. To me it seems some people are going overboard on this issue.

  • Using a WRT54G as a second wireless and wired router on a LAN

    I have setup a WRT54G as a second wired and wireless router on my local LAN.
    The WAN wired side of the WRT54G is setup completely DHCP. It gets IP 192.168.1.104 most of the time. (I have used a PC with DHCP on theis ethernet wire and it gets to the internet OK).
    The LAN side of the WRT54G is setup as 192.168.20.1 and all wireless and wired devices connecting to it get ips of 192.168.20.xxx and communicate between them selfs perfectly.  However, none of them can get to the internet through the WRT54G.  What have I done wrong?
    Thank You

    I guess your WRT54G is not connected to Internet directly, but it's connected to another router that has Internet access.
    If this is the case, you can configure this device as access point/hub only in order to get Internet access from the other router. Ignore the WAN connection on this WRT54G, just connect both router's LAN port with crossover cable.. After that configure the WRT54G's wireless setting. You can get more detailed info on how to do it in following article:

    I have a HP Photosmart6520 e-All-in-One. I have had it for about 6 months with no problems until today I am trying to print a document and it wont print. I tried it both ways from my Dell laptop, wireless and wired this document will not print. So I used HP Print doctor and was able to print a test page twice. I am assumming it is the document but for the life of me I can't figure out why.I even turned off my firewall and tried to print again with no luck and there is nothing showing up in the Print Que. Thanks for your help in advance

     Hi heather13,
    Welcome to the HP Support forums.  I understand that you are unable to print to your Photosmart 6520 from your Dell laptop.

    If you are close to your router, wired is always the fastest means of connection...and the most secure since there is not a radio signal being broadcast.

  • Renaming typedef file caused constants reset

    Hello!
    Here's a short description of the problem I encountered:
    I renamed the filename of the typedef that was used in my state machine for state coding (see for example State Machine template shipped with LV). As result I lost values of ALL constants that coded states in my state machine, i.e. they were reset to value of the first value in state enum.
    Note: when opening state machine that used the typedef
    I got the message something like "VI was changed in memory. Reload from disk or view from the memory?". And 2 buttons: View and Discard. I clicked "View".
    Then after restoring all constants manually, I saved my work to archive and tried to rename typedef file again, the result was the same - all constants reset to first value of enum.
    I restored files from archive, again renamed typedef file,
    then closed my app WITHOUT saving state machine that used typedef. After opening my program I got the message "Searching for my typedef", pressed "Browse..." and loaded typedef from renamed file. Constants were left without any change (uh-r-r-a!).
    Before posting this message to forum I tried to make an example to show the problem, but o-o-ps I failed to do it.
    It didn't repeat even with my program.
    This post can't be considered as bug report, as I can't repeat the problem. But I think the problem exists as I lost values of all constants after renaming typedef file, and this is the fact.
    So my advice (that old as the world) to everybody is to save work even when innocent actions are made such as renaming typedef file names.
    Probably somebody encountered this problem and knows how to repeat it.
    Thanks for attention.
    Any comments appreciated.
    Rashid.
    Using LV 8.0 (LV Run Time Engine 8.0.1) on Win XP with Russian locale, all VIs used in my programs have names in cyrillic sometimes mixed with english letters, e.g. "russian name (typedef).ctl".

    Hello, Charlie,
    I can say absolutely sure that I always used LabView to rename my typedef file. I never use Windows Explorer to rename typedef files (or any other LV files) in my practice.
    Besides, when the values of my constants were reset there wasn't any broken wires. The block diagram wasn't corrupted. Everything was fine except default values of my constants. Due to that I noticed this error a little later - after renaming typedef file I ran my program and couldn't understand why it fails to act as should. When debugging this problem I went down to my state machine and only then I saw that all my state constants are reset to default values.
    I never used "Substitute copy for original". I used only
    "Rename" when renaming my typedef file.
    I didn't add any items to my typedef. The only things I did are:
    - renaming my typedef enum label in the *.ctl file;
    - and "Save as.." -> "Rename..." - renaming my typedef file.
    Besides, when I did try renaming 2nd time to reproduce such behaviour: I left typedef enum label without change and the behaviour was the same.
    So, such behaviour (loosing constant values) I get TWO times.
    But after I worked around this (see 1st post) I couldn't already reproduce this behaviour.
    If I'll succeed in this one more time again, and be able to reproduce this behaviour, I'll certainly post to you my steps.
    Thanks for attention.
    Rashid.
    P.S.
    1. As to broken wires if I get it right - in your case you added new items to typedef but your case structure in state machine was not updated to contain new states handlers. If so, then it's obvious why you got broken wires. But as I didn't change the typedef itself (only renamed it), I didn't get broken wires.
    2. I wouldn't be surprised if I'd have done something in the weird way: I mean renaming by Explorer or saving, closing and so on. I was doing everything from the LabView environment. As far as I remember I didn't rename the state machine vi file at that, only typedef file. And my state machine was always opened. The only file I was opening/renaming/closing was typedef file. And as far as I remember I opened it by "File -> Open..." and not right-clicking at constant and "Open TypeDef..".
    3. I understand that my description is foggy :-) and that it's difficult to find this weird set of steps, but who knows. Anyway I appreciate your help.Message Edited by Rashid on 06-13-2006 12:03 PM

  • Bridging wireless and wired network interfaces

    Hi,
    Is it possible to "bridge" the airport and ethernet network interfaces on a macbook pro using Leopard (10.5.7) ? I do not mean Internet connection sharing. That results in NAT.
    I recently got a desktop in my room which doesn't have a WiFi interface. I wish to connect its wired interfaced to my mbp's wired interface and give it access to the wireless network my mbp is on. To do this I would need to bridge the wireless and wired interfaces on my mbp. All the results I find online to do this only talk about Internet Connection Sharing ..
    thanks,
    regards,
    Puneet

    You can turn on IP Forwarding to achieve most of what you're after:
    sudo sysctl -w net.inet.ip.forwarding=1
    This will have the Mac forward packets from one interface to the other without NAT.
    However you still need to use separate subnets, and may need to play with routing to get everyone to talk to each other.

  • UML295 constant reset and blue led

    So I've tried 2 UML295's now and having quite a bit of trouble.  At first I thought I just got a busted modem the first time around.  But after the 2nd one I'm wondering what is possibly going wrong.
    The first time I used either of them, they worked fine.  Connected, got online, got good speed, etc.
    Now they just appear to be in a constant reset loop over and over.  Device manager keeps chiming in that devices are getting plugged/unplugged over and over again.   On the UML295 itself the light is red for a bit, I see the devices start popping up in device manager, then the light turns blue for a while and the devices go away.
    I've searched all over the place for the meaning of the blue light, but every doc VZ has on this thing describes. red, green, white & amber lights. Never does anything mention blue.
    Any ideas?  perhaps firmware updates failed on these??
    I've tried 2 different laptops (win 8.1 on a surface pro 2,  Win 7 on a Dell laptop and Win 7 on a homebuilt desktop) and all have the same results.  Card powers up, red led, DM chimes in, led turns blue, DM chimes out... rinse repeat.

  • [Solved] Preferencing Wireless over Wired

    Hello,
    I'm wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction. I'm doing some work with an embedded device that I need to access by ethernet. The device is configured to sit on 192.168.10.1 (at the moment). I've configured my laptop to sit on 192.168.10.23. At the same time, I have my laptop connect to a corporate guest wifi connection - which gives me access to the internet.
    My problem is that I can bring both the wireless and wired interfaces up, but as soon as the wired interface comes up, I can no longer access the internet through the wifi connection. What I want to is have any connections outside of 192.168.10.x routed through the wifi.
    What is the easiest/cleanest way to accomplish this?
    Thanks in advance.

    Excellent, I completely understand now, thanks guys. I know enough to sort this out.
    For anyone else who might have the same problem -
    There are two issues here; the priority of the network and the default route.
    The metric parameter listed in the routing table determines the priority of the network. The network priority determines which networks gets to go first. The lower this number is the more important it is.
    The default route is the 'fall-through' rule. If your destination address does not match any other rule, it will fall through to this.
    In my situation, I'd need to set the metric parameter on the eth0  route rule higher than the wlan routes, and then remove the default routing rule on eth0 and ensure it exists for wlan0.
    In the event you want to make this automatic, you can add routing commands into your netctl profiles with the 'Routes' or alternatively the 'ExecUpPost' commands. See https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=1360955
    Edit:
    Now I've had time to fix this I'll add an example
    Description='A connect to Jetbox'
    Interface=eth0
    Connection=ethernet
    IP=static
    Address=('192.168.10.23/24')
    Routes=('192.168.0.0/24 via 192.168.10.1')
    #Gateway='192.168.10.1'
    8 DNS=('192.168.10.1')
    For me, commenting out the gateway prevented the default route from being added and ensured that it gave preference to the wifi connection.
