Constant shaking "iPod ads" concerns

I was wondering if shaking the first Video iPod(former name) like in the regular iPod,old colored nano, and old shuffle ads where the people are violently danceing would damage it? I'm going to be the "iPod ads" for Halloween and I wanted to know what would do no damage? I have a Video iPod(ViP) that has songs, videos, and all that good stuff you do with them and a blank nano (ones that are non-video and made in many colors). I know that running with ViPs is damaging to the hard drive but that is the results of you having it on while it is shaking. But what if I have it turned off would it cause problems and that goes for the nano too.
Extra note: for my costume I will dress in all black with a micro hint of color, spray my hair black, black gloves, and have my face painted black. I would carry around a ViP with the headphones on but no music (it will be off) and then switch my iPods to the nano and have this glowing stick (like a glow stick) and wave it around with the nano like the ads. All dancing to the party music, which is why both iPods would be off.

Dancing with and shaking the ipod will probably not damage anything, especially if it is off. Some other tips:
1. Be careful crossing the street.
2. There are probably neighborhoods you should avoid if you paint your face black.

  • Songs from the iPod ads

    Hey everyone,
I've searched the forums and found a few of them, but does anyone happen to have a list of all the songs that have been used in iPod TV commercials? Or know of a website that may have a list? Just curious.

  • MANY IPOD QUESTIONS CONCERNING REPLACING IT!!!

I realize that i have to send my mini ipod back to Apple to have it replaced becuase of problems that have occured with my battery not being able to stay charged.
And i also realize that it is my responsibility to backup my songs...do you suggest burning them from my laptop to a CD first?
I was also told that Apple would replace my ipod if i send it in to have the battery replaced. My ipod is personalized with my name on the back...will i still recieve another personalized ipod in return for the one i gave them?
And my last question..how do i make my computer "win" when i connect my new ipod (if replaced with my old one) to my library so my libray is not wiped out?

    Hi Beaner22,
I suggest burning the songs to CDs, yes. An external hard drive would work, as well.
Regarding the personalization, see the iPod Service FAQ. It states that any laser-engraving done by Apple will automatically be redone on the replacement unit.
The iPod will not have any data on it when you receive it, so it should take you through the set-up process (naming the iPod and setting it to automatically update or manually update) and not wipe out your library. However, if I am wrong on this, someone please correct me.
However, you can replace the battery yourself, or have a third party do it for you. These options can be much cheaper than Apple's method. • DVDs to iPod - Safety concerns

I just got a 5th G iPod and am hoping to put some of my DVD's on it. I have been reading around and see "many" ways of converting it. Does anybody know of any Apple endorsed converters because I am worried about these things loading virus's in my computer.

You may have to explain what you mean by "Apple endorsed" here. In any case, even if Apple elected to study the various converters currently available, perform any form statistical analysis/study, and then publish their results, I suspect you won't see it for several months yet to come. In any case, I doubt they will be anxious to promote other software over and above their own. You may do better to read the various reviews posted on the Internet by dedicated PC/Mac magazine sites or dedicate iPod sites like iLounge.

  • HELP! My brand new iPod touch 5th generation might be broken!

Hello, I recently got my Space Gray iPod touch 5th Generation that is 32GB and version is iOS 7.1.2. When I finally got it and was opening the package and trying to open it. I didn't know that there were 2 tabs on the bottom and top and I tried to pull the ipod out itself. I noticed I had to pull the tabs and then I got paranoid that I bent the ipod and it broke from the inside. Anyways, I set it up with no problem but when I went to sign in to App Store from my apple account and switched the keyboard to the numbers and other characters the keyboard got these weird short white lines and I got paranoid but when I switched the keyboard again and went back to the numbers keyboard the white lines did not appear. Now nothing strange is happening but I though that was a sign of my ipod was broken from the inside so I shaked ipod and heard nothing rattling from the inside so that gave a little relief. But I'm still VERY stressed out and paranoid because my mother got me this iPod from going to 5 stores to find the color I wanted and now I thought I was going to break it . Please help me apple community. Is the inside of my ipod ok? are there any other signs of the inside of the ipod broken? Please help, I'm only 12 and I'm going through so much stress .

  • Converting DVDs to iPod format

Someone please help me! I have done this same search on google and on this apple discussion site, but can not understand much of what is said. I am just not a very technical person. Would someone be able to tell me, in layman terms, how to convert a dvd, like pirates of the carribean or skeleton key,to ipod format.
    iPod video-30gb black   Windows XP

    Hello Justin,
Can't really speak for the software personally as I'm not all that interested in video on the move. All I can say is that there have been numerous posts on the iPod forum concerning difficulties with Videora. Whether that's a user problem or a software issue it's hard to say, it seems to have it's advocates and detractors as do most things. Good luck anyway and I'm glad the article was of some help.

  • Ipod loses artwork from random albums

I have a black 160GB iPod Classic with the 1.1.2 software synced to a Macbook Pro running iTunes 8. All ~60000 tracks in my iTunes library have artwork that I have manually added, and I sync about 9000 of these tracks to the iPod. All the artwork can be seen in list, grid, and cover flow views in iTunes, but after upgrading to iTunes 8 I've noticed that some albums show up with the generic "gray square with a musical note" image on the iPod, suggesting they don't have artwork. After reading through this forum I tried unselecting the "Display album artwork on your iPod" option, syncing the iPod, reselecting the option, and syncing again. While this didn't fix the problem, it did change which albums were missing artwork. Some that had been missing were now back, while others that used to have artwork were now blank. I've also tried rebuilding the iTunes artwork cache by selecting "Get Album Artwork" from the Advanced menu, but this did nothing as far as the iPod is concerned. One other fix I attempted was to switch to manually managing the iPod and delete the ArtworkDB file on the iPod via the terminal. Upon rebuilding the artwork database the iPod still had missing artwork. I've now restored the iPod and am in the process of copying all the files to it anew.
I've seen other posts that relate similar experiences, but haven't noticed any reporting this seemingly random loss of artwork. The issue is specific to the iPod, as iTunes displays all art properly. I've spoken with several friends who have had similar issues since upgrading to iTunes 8. Any hints, or am I stuck waiting for iTunes 8.1?

*Why is artwork not showing on my iPod when it's there in iTunes?*
iTunes will display a cover in many of it's views provided at least one track from the album has embedded artwork. The iPod appears to load only the artwork from track one to create the cover flow and album views which means that it can sometimes fail to display art for albums even when you can see the art in iTunes. Further, when tracks are played on the iPod, artwork is displayed if and only if it exists in the currently playing track, so track one may show art while track two does not.
*How to find tracks without artwork*
To find all the tracks without artwork so that you can update them you can try http://www.stum.de/itunes-find-tracks-without-artwork/ for Windows or http://dougscripts.com/itunes/scripts/ss.php?sp=trackswithoutartwork for Macs. Use Google, Amazon, Discogs etc. to locate relevant jpeg images. Ideally these should be square, 320x320 pixels or above and borderless to give the best results in the various menus. If you have artwork for some tracks of an album, but not others, find the album in the main music folder, select a track with artwork, right-click (Option-Click for Macs) on the art & click copy, then select all the tracks of the album, use CTRL-I or Command-I to *Get Info* and then paste the image into the artwork box.
I say 320x320 because I believe (from using TouchCopy) that it's the size used in the iPod cache so if you're going to crop or resize you might as well work to that size. Otherwise 200x200 is probably good enough.
    *Rebuild artwork cache*
Sometimes the artwork cache becomes corrupt and fails to show correct artwork, even when this is properly set up in iTunes. To rebuild the artwork cache, connect your iPod to iTunes. Locate the iPod in the Sources pane on the left-hand side, then select the Music tab. Remove the tick from *Display album artwork on your iPod*, sync the iPod, reselect the option & sync again.

  • IPod shuffle files

I am using an iPod shuffle(1GB) originally bought in 2005 as memory stick. Its been fine but whilst away recently I plugged it into a PC and downloaded some pictures from Photo Album. Whilst doing so the PC hard drive (Windows 2000) of the old Dell machine started clicking, upon which my friend pulled out the iPod suddenly, concerned about the hard disk. When replugged onto newer laptop many strange files came up on iPod looking like little windows applications, upon which I panicked and starting deleting them. Some deleted, others came up with a window saying cannot be deleted due to unfound something or other... Now returned home and plugged into my iMac upon which these files (I have 6 of them left) are shown in this format:
    +NNN2NN3NN
    __UUU UUUû UU
I want to know if this has corrupted my iPod. My remaining files seem OK and open fine but I'm worried if it could be a virus etc,. These strange files also oddly disappear when I click on them only to reappear when the iPod is replugged in or icon double clicked to reuse. What shall I do? Please help.

Just copy off those files you put on there. Restore will erase the shuffle. The shuffle's internal files will be replaced when you do the Restore. If there were any music files on it, you can re-sync those from your iTunes library.

  • Problem loading videos to my Ipod Touch

    Hi
I wonder if there is a possibility someone could point me in the direction of a step by step tutorial on loading videos to my Touch.
I've already successfully loaded several albums of mp3s.
However I just cannot get videos on there at all.
I have converted them to the correct format ( mp4) yet cannot either drag and drop them, nor load them by using the options add new folder / add to playlist.
If someone could advise of the process step by step I would be grateful.

OK, first a few questions, because not all mp4 files are the same, at least as far as the iPod is concerned.
When you have iTunes up, and you click on Movies in the upper left hand corner you should get a list of movie files (these files should be located in My Documents at that level, not in subfolders). Do you see the name of the video there? If not, try under File to "Add file to library ..." Does it do it? If not, you don't have the right type of mp4 file. If it does, but when syncing it complains it can't find it, you need to click on it and then under Advanced select "convert to ipod."

  • Greek language support for ipod touch?

why the greek language is not included in the supported languages for ipod touch?
why there is no greek keyboard nor a speller?
is it so hard to do it?
the greek language is not important?
as fur as i know apple has also a market for ipod in greece as well as other products...
but no greek language support in the ipod... why?

    yes this is also true,
as fur as it goes for displaying text in greek  the results are pretty good.
but when it come to writing...this is a totally different scenario...
unfortunately you have many other options apart from writing greek of curse.
to conclude and this is something that keeps bugling me,
    maybe I am wrong,
but i think that the OS the ipod touch runs is based OSX 10.4 (tiger),
if not mostly the same OS.
if the above assumption is correct in some whey..and by having in mind that the support for many languages is already realized for the above OS
is interesting to notice that the support of this already realized languages is limited in the platform of ipod touch ( concerning writing and spelling).
    how knows...

  • Ipod makes weird sounds when the hard drive runs

my ipod video is making weird click clak sound when the hard drive starts running. Is this normal?? HAs this happen to anyone before?

HEY!!!!!! I wasnt alone. Amazing. I had the same experience with my new Black 30 Gig iPod 5 Gen. It had a 3 second delay, made lots of HD clicking noises. And worse after a few hours of usage, forgot 240 of my 270 songs that had been transferred onto it. This was all happening on the first day! Wow.
Im sure glad to hear I was not alone. The sad thing is, Amazon is going to take 4 weeks to return my money to me. I will never again by a hardware product from Amazon.com. It simply takes too long. As far as Apple iPods are concerned, I believe they need alot of design renovation to put it frankly. Here are my complaints about the 5 Gen:
    1. No Screen Brightness Controls. A major no no.
    2. 3 Second Gaps between songs. What?
    3. The trackpad on the iPod is far out of alignment. Not sure who supplied these, but the Mini was far superior to the 5 Gen trackpad. The traction was severly off kilter.
    4. 284$ for an iPod that forgets 240 songs in a blink of an eye? I don't think so Apple. Get a grip. Woz was correct when he stated you all use crapy supplies for your parts.
    I thought he was kidding?!
This was my first and by my choice, last iPod experience to be had with Apple. They are cute, but software/user level wise, they need alot of work.

  • Shake iPhone to death?

Recently I've installed a car mount for my iPhone. Although it holds the phone in place well the mount shakes a lot while I'm driving. The vehicle is a jeep (which aren't known for their plush rides). I'm just wondering if there is any danger of breaking the phone because of all the shaking? Not that it's super violent thrashing but I'm concerned about steady constant shaking over time. It is not a windshield mount but one that is adhered to my dash. I assume all mounts shake some especially those with flexible arms. Please help my peace of mind.
    Thanks

I get constant shaking if I use mine with the windscreen mount. What I usually do is attach it to the windscreen but keep the part that holds the phone in contact with part of the dash. This keeps the phone completely stationary and makes a big difference.
Not sure if you can do something similar with a dash mount but see if you can find a place where it can rest against another solid part of the dash - if it can be moved.

  • How Can I Learn To Develop Flash Games For Under $50.00 USD?

I am completely new to anything Flash. I have never written a
single line of Actionscript. I don't know the difference between
Flash and Flex. I don't know in what forums Flash developers hang
out. I don't even know what kind of coffee they drink, or if they
    drink tea instead.
However, I have developed games and have been thinking about
developing some casual games and have heard rumors that Adobe is
"pushing" causal game development with Actionscript 3 and their
latest releases. So I went to adobe.com expecting to see a link for
something like "learn how to develop games in flash" or some such.
I poked around the developer related pages and didn't find anything
    I thought useful.
What I did find were plenty of stuff for *existing* flash
developers. Links to articles and HowTos for specific topics and
information about products that cost a minimum of several hundred
dollars. I can't learn how to develop games and create a prototype
    with a 30-day trial, and I am not going to buy a $1000 pro-grade
tool when I am an indie developer without a budget or a pre-funded
project that would justify such expenditures.
I have seen some open source stuff, but don't know if it can
do anything more than build some annoying shaking banner ads.
So let me introduce myself as a possible use-case for Adobe
Marketing and the Flash (Game) Developer community.
I am an educated experience software developer who has a day
job doing "enterprise" software stuff. I want to *play* in my free
time (evenings and weekends) with "Flash Stuff" and learn enough to
be able to build a simple game that I can put on my personal
website and have my friends download. I am not a student, so I
can't get student discounts. The money I have goes toward
toys^H^H^H^H tools for my other coding habits^H^H^H^H^H projects. I
am not interested in 30-day trials, as I may go 45-days or more
between the first and second weekends I get to play with this. I
know OOP so I want to start out learning how to do the "advanced"
stuff from day one and not have to start with dragging and dropping
PNGs w/o any coding and then "relearn" how to do it in code so I
can do anything beyond having the image appear and rotate.
I *am* willing to put time into this endeavor, but only after
I have a few things spoon-fed to me by "advocates" who's job is to
get me "hooked" and willing to invest my time to go beyond Hello
World. At the same time I am download and playing with GarageGames,
TGE/TGB, Game Maker, Dark Basic, Blitz Basic, etc. and many
complete development environments that are full-featured and
completely free if I limit myself to releasing only freeware games,
or cost me less than $50 for the "professional" version with all
    the bells and whistles.
I have heard rumors and rumblings about some open source
tools being available and Adobe maybe open sourcing some of their
previously pay-to-play tools, but also understand that Adobe can
probably provide a better "comprehensive" package of tools,
documentation, tutorials, and support, *if I can find the right
    place to ask/start.*
And, most of all, I don't know where to start my search as I
have no personal contacts to bug about stuff like this.
So, where can I find the big red button to push and get
everything I want handed to me on a silver-platter.
[please understand I have written this with some attempt at
self-mocking humor and am not some clueless n00b]
Thank you for taking the time to read my lengthy posting. I
hope to find some helpful replies and start down an interesting
    learning path.
    --Chaim

Just saw your post. Better late than never. You may want to
consider GameBrix.com, where you can create Flash based, casual
games using your web browser. No downloads are required. You can
create a game from scratch using a library of images, sounds and
game mechanics. You can also upload your own. The online script
editor will allow you to view and edit the ActionScripts associated
with each game mechanic. In short, a great way to ramp up on game
design and build your own game without investing a lot of $
    upfront.
BTW I am associated with GameBrix so any feedback is
    appreciated.
