Constant "System Overload" messages on one song only

All my other songs work fine but I keep getting the
"Core Audio 'System Overload'" messages on one
particluar song. I have four audio drum tracks, and
one vocal track. I have two instances of Stylus RMX,
one Stylus Trilogy, and one EVB3. I also have a TBO
piano track which is admittedly a very large sample
and broken down into three EXS instances. I did have 2
instances of Space Designer but I ditched them in an
effort to get this song working.
i've been working on this track for longer than i care
to admit and i never had such problems but lately the
only way to get through the song is to have everything
frozen. I can get by with the Kick or the Snare
unfrozen but if i try to listen to them BOTH unfrozen
i immediately get the above message. Makes it nearly impossible to line the tracks up.
I run Logic 7.2.1 on a G5 2x2 w/ 4.5 gig RAM.
Any suggestions?
Thanks, JP

somethings corrupted, yes.
to migrate: if all midi/Vis are perfectly the way you want them - use export in the file menu to render them.
if they aren't yet, make these into basic midi files and export the midi to the songs folder giving it a unique name.
all other live type audio files - vocals, etc. if cut up into small regions would be better off as one file starting at bar1. make these.
if using a tempo map, take a snap of it (jpg) for reference and take one of the original arrange page as well. just to be sure.
get one of the standard templates that come with the app and use it to start this new version off. there should be no file corruption there.

  • Core Audio Disk too slow or System Overload message

Hi, I hope somebody can help me. I've seen the topics about this already posted, but my situation is a little different. I'm only playing back three tracks of recorded audio and two EXS24 sampler instruments. I have the Logic compressor on my bass track and thats it! My Disk IO meter shows no load at all as well as the audio meter. However, I'm still getting the core audio disk to slow or system overload message. I figure with a dual 2.7 G5 and 2.5 Gigs of ram I should be unstoppable. What's happening?
By the way I'm using Logic Pro 7.1, and my sound card is a Delta 1010 from M-Audio.

  • System Overload Messages

I have 8 tracks running MIDI, 6 of which have the EXS24 running, mainly for drums. I cant get through more than 2 mins of the project before the CPU goes mental and i get the 'system overload' message.
Do i Have to bounce the MIDI into audio? Why cant i have this many MIDI track running?
    Any help greatly appreciated.

The MBP i was using shortly after this Q was posted had new RAM, 2 weeks later, a new motherboard + graphics card, then a new screen, battery and again RAM!!!!!. Apple gave in eventually and gave me a new MBP, which, after only 1 month, had 2 new sets of RAM and a new logic board???!!!. I don't know anyone that has paid nearly £2000 for a computer, let alone, a mac, and had so much sh&t. Working out the repair and replacement cost came to over £1700!! The worst thing is, being told to "come collect your machine tomorrow, we'll put it through on priority", only to get there and get told, "sorry mate, can you come back tomorrow?"!!! AAAARRRGGHH!!!
Got messed around for nearly 6 months until they admitted that the MBP was F*&^%d. Even then, I was in the store until 10pm!!! They took the old machine, and have probably sold it on to some poor SOB......not good.
appreciate these forums only respond to valid Q's, but felt that this needed to be said. I use my MBP for work and having to travel countless miles to an apple store that is A, available, and B, not in russia, has cost me an absolute fortune in both lost custom and travel. will always advise people to buy mac and use Logic or Pro Tools.......just cross your fingers and hope it never happens to you. Cos if it does.........

  • Suddenly system overload messages

    ahoy all.
have been using logic express 7.2 for over a year now, love it, never had to freeze a track. the other night i completed a project and did a bounce, closed it and went to bed. nota huge project, around 8 audio, 5 audio instrument tracks. ran the whole sessions with no overloads (in fact, i have had about 3 overloads in all my experience with logic). a few days later, i open the project again and now system overloads constantly. it also occurs now on other similiar sized projects that before had no overloads ever.only thing that helped was freezing tracks. i searched the forum and tried all the various suggestions, no luck.
i am wondering what could have happened (to logic, macos, macbook, etc) that would cause the sudden system overload messages? the only thing that happened in those few days was that i drained my macbook battery and now i have the infamous macbook x on battery problem. but i am not sure how that could effect logic.
    thanks.

I know you said you drained your macbook battery - but here's a thought that came to me - When is the last time you shut down your computer/restarted it? The RAM could be clogged. As ridiculous as that sounds, it does happen. Little artifacts of garbage and leftovers of tasks your computer has been performing over the last few days between your session and now could have somehow not cleared itself from the RAM. Restart it. Or shut it down for a while or something. Unless you've already done that. Then, we'll work from there . . .

Purchasing iCloud storage will not help your issue. Also, if you want to upgrade, do it via iTunes rather than OTA - it doesn't require as much available storage to do it that way.
To check to see what is taking up so much of your storage, go to Settings>General>Usage>Manage Storage, and you will see a list of the items on your device and the amount of storage they are taking up.
T-mobile's offer of the 64GB iPhone 6 to new or additional line customers has nothing to do with Apple. You need to take that up with T-mobile.

  • Solution for "Error while trying to synchronize Audio and MIDI" and "System Overload" messages

Article for those who hate Logic error windows
Seen in Logic Pro 9.1.7 on Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4
and Logic Pro 9.0.0 on Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.5
    Logic Pro:
    System Overload.
The audio engine was not able to process all required data in time.
    (-10011)
Error while trying to synchronize Audio and MIDI.
    Sample Rate xxxxx recognized.
Check conflict between Logic Pro and external device.
The search in the help given as follows: overload occurs when you use a lot of tracks and a lot of effects on them, and the synchronization is lost when the selected MIDI track for recording or playback. Yes, this is all that is written in the resources. And here are useful tips that have been found:
The Bounce function allows the entire instrument track to be recorded as an audio file. This bounced audio file can then be used (as an audio region) on a standard audio track, allowing you to reassign the available processing power for further software instrument tracks. For more details, see "Bouncing Your Project."
You can also make use of the Freeze function to capture the output of a software instrument track, again saving processing power. For details, see "Freezing Tracks in the Arrange Area."
These tips - about the timing. About overload - there are no tips, except as "reducing the number of plug-ins" and "increasing latency". Zero useful tips - I got two errors in the test project with a blank audio track with no effects, MIDI drums and standard synthesizer, it was no aux buses, and the entire project was only a single plugin in the master track.
Here is the configuration of my computer:
    iMac12, 2
CPU: Intel Core i5 3,1 GHz
    Memory: 4 GB
And here's a project that almost immediately stops Logic, all instruments and plug-ins with the init-patch, ie not the most demanding settings:
    It's sad.
When this happened the first time, I could start the project only if the empty audio track has been selected, a track specially designed so that you can at least start the project. Then, this problem has evaporated along with the changing conditions of work and I forgot about it until the last case.
I was looking for the cause of the problem in the console and the system monitor for two days, and finally I found that Logic ping to the network frequently. I remembered the exact time of occurrence of the problem, and system logs revealed that the problems began immediately, as soon as I deactivate the service of the Internet.
Solution: enable the Internet, or add a new network service on a computer with no Internet. I just created the Ethernet connection to the ip address 1.0.0.0
    Logic immediately began to sing.

    Hi gabaghoul
Yes, it worked for me on four different OS and Logic versions (10.6 - 10.8 and 9.0 - 9.1.6)
It does not work in some cases, hard enough to tell in which one, but you can try, it very easy: go to the net settings and create new Ethernet connection to the ip address 1.0.0.0 and connect LAN cable to the port.
Also you can try to figure out what happens in your system while Logic error occured - fot that you just start Console and search "logicpro"
Pay attention to repetitive events in a console and events with suitable timing, not so far from error
The problem may be related to the GUI or system memory, sometimes turning off Safari (or Chrome, others browsers) might help.

  • CoreAudio System Overload Messages

    Hello,
In the attempt to create my first song, I have come to a major roadblock. I am not able to continue with my work because the sound breaks then stops. I then recieve the following message: CoreAudio: System Overload. The audio engine was not able to process all required data in time. (-10011).
When I purchased Logic, I believed that I had equipment that would be sufficient to run the software. I have an iMac with an 800 MHz PowerPC processor, 1 GB of RAM, Mac OS 10.4.8, Quicktime 7.1.3, and 36.4 GB of available disk space (according to the system profiler: devices: IDE (ATA-4) Bus: Macintosh HD) (I list that information because I am not entirely sure that that is where I should have gone to find out how much available disk space I have, so I could be wrong and if I am then that may be a contributor to my problem). Anyway, this meets the requirements listed on the back of the Logic Pro 7 box.
I am using the midiman uno interface for my kawai MP9000 which I use as the midi controller and the edirol UA-5 audio capture as my audio interface for recording vocals.
I am very surprised that this is happening to me because I only have 2 audio instruments and 1 audio track running (and only seven measures of it at that).
The two audio instruments are from the Evoc PS and Sculpture. My audio track contains vocals.
I don’t have any plug-ins directly on the tracks. However, I do have gain on my bus 1 which contains the audio track and Evoc audio instrument.
Still, when I look at the system performance window it is very close to reaching the ceiling on the audio side, sometimes it does reach the ceiling and turn red, but it mostly stays in the upper part of the orange yellow color and into the plain yellow as well.
I went to the Logic Pro Support webpage and found an article that addressed my problem.
I have combed the article and carefully followed it’s instructions. Here are the things I have done to try and remedy my problem:
    1. I have turned off all applications other than Logic.
    2. I have made sure that my drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled).
    In Audio Drivers Preferences
    3. I have set my I/O Buffer size to 1024.
    4. I set my Max. Number of Audio Tracks to 4.
    5. I have unchecked 64 Busses.
    6. Since the Audio meter in system performance is peaking, I disabled Larger Disk Buffer.
    7. I set the Process Buffer Range to Large.
    8. Rewire Behavior is in Playback Mode.
    And
    9. The songs sample rate is 44.1.
    10. I have tried highlighting an audio rather than an audio instrument track during playback.
    11. I have frozen tracks that I am not currently working with (which actually does help alot but not as much as I hoped it would).
    Under Logic Pro>Preferences>Audio>General
    13. I have set Sample Accurate Automation to Off.
In addition to that I read some postings in the Logic forum and got the idea that perhaps it is because I am using an aggregrate device that I am having this problem, so I switched over to only using my Edirol as a driver in my audio preferences. This did not help either.
The article said to make sure my computer has plenty of RAM. Since the back of the Logic Pro 7 box lists 512 MB of RAM I thought 1GB would be plenty. But perhaps it is not.
For only three tracks it seems that I would have enough memory for the moment at least, but maybe I don’t. I upgraded my computer and gave it as much memory as it could take and I don’t think there is a way for me to give it more. However, it would be extremely helpful if someone could tell me if I have adequate memory to run Logic.
The article also said to use a disk maintenance utility to regularly check and repair my drives’ directory structure and to make sure that my files are not fragmented. When I went to apples website to find information on defragmentation, I found article number 25668 that says that because I use Mac OS X, then I probably won’t need to defragment at all. But maybe I do need to defragment because this program is so taxing on my computer. Will someone please tell me whether or not I need to defragment and if so any tips on going about that process would be helpful.
Unfortunately, I do not know very much about computers and sequencing software. I would feel much better if there were some local classes available for this type of work but I haven’t found anything. Everything I have learned has been from the Mac Pro Video’s (extremely helpful) and this forum, and a little bit from the manuals.
Anyway, I have told you everything I can and I hope that someone can help me figure out how to overcome this obstacle. I am really trying to avoid having to purchase a new computer so any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
    Sincerely,
    Zelda

The two audio instruments are from the Evoc PS and Sculpture. My audio track contains vocals.
There you are...it's the Sculpture plugin.it is a PROCESSOR HOG.
I have an iBook with the same 800mHz processor, and it can only run 1 instance of Sculpture when it feels like it.And not much else.
    Good luck...

  • "Disk is too Slow or System overload" message...HELP!

    Hello,
I am using a MacBook Pro and recorded an Audio track last night with my guitar (plugged directly into my Motu audio interface) using the the "tape delay" effect/plug-in. After recording ONE track, I was playing it back and simply playing my guitar for practice over the track while monioring through my speakers when I get the message "Disk is too slow or system overload (10010)."
What is this? I should be able to record audio tracks with my MBP, right? What am I doing wrong and how could my system possibly be overloaded and unable to continue with ONE audio track? Please help. Thank you.

you can also try typing System overload in the search discussions field on the top right of the discussions page, make it specific when you get the results to Logic 7.
there's millions of posts about it....
also check your buffer,(low setting when recording editing ,increase it at playback)
and in case you recording/play from an external drive make sure it's power supply it's connected.

  • Constant system overload errors

Since yesterday I can't play any project anymore. When I hit play the projects plays for two seconds, slows down and a system overload error pops up saying 'system overload or disk too slow'. Logic crashes after that.
Nothing on my system has changed, no new plugins, no system changes. Many of the project files are on an external drive but it's working nicely and is not in sleep mode or anything.
    Any tips?

I am not having system overload, but I do want to comment on the CPU meter. I noticed last night that running 3 tracks rewired through Reason 4, and an EXS instrument, my Logic 8 CPU meter indicated one core (second one) at 60-70% at times, with the other core (first one), barely being used. While running this, I launched Activity Monitor, and then hit "CPU" to watch the activity. Guess what, Activity monitor showed no perceptible difference between core usage, with both running at maybe 20-25% for the whole system, including Logic 8. I wonder if Logic 8's problem with system overload is simply a bad monitoring scheme. It is clearly wrong. I can imagine that if I had one or two more tracks running, I would have hit a limit, even though Activity Monitor would have shown my cores at less than 50% usage. Lame, Apple. Take care of this.

  • Newbie can't figure out how to play one song only.

So I just got up and running with my new iPod 80GB Video. I ripped 3 CDS of tunes to mp3's with iTunes and loaded them into the iPod and it plays but I can't figure out how to just play a single song, it always continues to the next song alphabetically. I've looked in the online manuals and couldn't find where you set "single" instead of "play all". I'm in Songs menu, not Artists or Albums. Please help.

The iPod isn't designed to work like this, and I think the only workaround is to create a playlist with one song in it.

  • Click wheel ipod & One song only puzzle

    Hello to all
Sorry for newbie question, but "search" was not my friend...
Recently acquired a 20GB click wheel. Wonderful piece of kit.
    But:
Whenever I connect it to a car charger, or to a third party speakers, it will only play one song (i.e. will not go through the playing list).
If I unplug it, it will go to the next song, and play that song when re-plugged. And stop.
Also, will not respond to speakers command or remote.
    Model is M92448, version is 2.3 ...
What am I doing wrong ?

The Logitech site says they are compatible with any deck ipod, and any gen if you have an auxilliary input.
I think "auxiliary input" means the mini-stereo jack or maybe the red/white RCA connectors, so you could always buy a cable at Radio Shack and use the speakers through that connection instead of though the dock connector. I have an old Bose clock radio, and I use its auxiliary input (RCA type) to connect my iPod through a cable with the RCA pair at one end and a mini-stereo jack at the other.
only a fraction of the songs in the ipod are left in itunes, so I never sync
Then you should not Restore, unless you are able to reload those songs. You should get an external FireWire drive so that you can store the songs in iTunes as your backup. An iPod can break or be lost (or need to be restored).

  • Play one song only? How to?

How can get iTunes to play just one song then stop? It wants to go to the next song, then the next.

Uncheck all the songs in the library or the playlist you are using. Unchecked songs will be skipped when playing songs from the library or a selection. They will only play when individually clicked on. Just be aware though that unchecking does other things so you might not want to keep the library unchecked all the time:
Smart Playlists have an option that unchecked songs won't appear.
Unchecked songs will not be burned to CD.
The iPod has an option to only update checked songs
