Constant 'unable to download items' pop up

After updating to iOS 8 and downloading some suggested free iBooks (I believe that's when the issue started), I've been getting a randomly timed but constant stream of system alerts, saying 'Unable to download items - Please try again later'. They seem to get a lot more frequent during app use.
AAs far as I know, nothing has failed to download.

Wonder if this might be fixed when the U2 album is officially released on Oct 13, 2014?  I too am receiving the Unable to Download Item pop up.  I have done everything possible to try and correct this issue. Spoke with 2 different people at Apple Support Services and they did not know of this problem nor do they know the fix at this time.  Not sure how to get rid of the Album and the download.  Tried that too and still receive this error.  More people need to call Apple Support to notify them of this problem so that they can fix it quicker.  For now I am stuck with this error.

  • Unable to Download Item pop-up iOS8

    ipod touch 5th generation
    iOS8
I had recently download a free album from itunes and for some reason or another, this pop-up keeps popping up throughout the day. I've tried toggling with the setting on both icloud and itunes, and it won't go away.
I am willing to try anything to get this off.
    Thanks.

I guess I've never heard of that one before.  You might need to contact iTunes store support, explain the problem and ask them to look at your iTunes store ID to see if there is something stuck in your download queue that is causing the prompt even though the download has completed.  If so, they should be able to delete it for you.  You can reach them by filling out this form: https://www.apple.com/emea/support/itunes/contact.html.
I'm hesitant to keep guessing at other things that you might try as I would just be shooting in the dark.

I have the same thing happening on my iPod Touch 5th gen. Been happening for at least a month. I have updated to the most recent version of iOS which hasn't solved the issue. Must be a bug that they didn't get around to resolving yet, a year later. Really annoying to have it pop up when you are in the middle of a game though.

  • "Unable to download item. Please try again later. "

Hello. After updating to iOS8, whenever i turn off and power my phone, I receive a pop-up "Unable to download item. Please try again later. " at first I thought it was an app gone rogue but in the appstore I did not see anything suspicious. After resetting and restoring my device the pop-up kept appearing. By mistake I discovered that if I open the iBooks app the pop-up appears every time. I hace never bought or downloaded any book from here, ever. Did you encounter this error? do you have any suggestions for Me?
    thanks

A few potential possible problems I see (just thinking along all the bases we have to cover so far):
    1)  It might not be related to iBooks.  (I haven't even used iBooks on my new phone and rarely used it on my previous phone.)
    2)  It might not be related to the U2 album.
    3)  It might be related to something we have not thought of yet.  (About the only thing we all have in common is the problem and that we've either downloaded the U2 album or fiddled with iBooks, but the amount of people who have downloaded the U2 album and/or fiddled with iBooks is huge.)
    4)  There might not be enough of us experiencing this problem for Apple to even realize it exists.
I guess it must either happen because of the U2 album and/or because of iBooks, and/or something else entirely.
    Did I miss anything?

Usually the web mail server and the IMAP or POP server are two different things. Have you contacted your provider and ask them why their server is giving you this message.

  • "Unable to download items" error message on iPhone Music App

On my new iPhone only some of the songs from my itunes song list would download to the "Music" app.  All the Albume covers and titels show in the dowloads section of my itunes app but underneath the song title it says "Download error. Tap to retry"?  When I do I keep getting the error message "Unable to download items"?  Funny because about 10 of the songs from the itunes app moved over to the music app but the rest won't?  Anybody run into this?  Thanks!

I am still working on this problem and I just noticed that when I go back into itunes on my computer and then go to "File" then "Devices" all the tabs under devices are greyed out so I am unable to sync or transfer purchases?

I have not contacted Adobe. I am using acrobat pro CC, and haven't noticed any problem with the software itself. The only problem I have had so far is when I try to download.

  • Error message unable to download item

I Keep getting Error message "unable to download item try again later" on my iPad. I don't know of any item I don't have downloaded. I have the latest iOS 8 installed. On my iTunes purchsed list I have one song with a red square with a white E that I don't know what it means.

I Have the same error message. It all started after I downloaded the U2 album free from iTunes. Seems like I got more than I bargained for! I have done all the ios8 updates, including 8.1, but still getting the message. It makes everything run so slow while my iPad 2 tries in vain to download. Doesn't happen on my work iPad mini where I didn't download the U2 album. So go figure...

  • I cannot download past purchased on my iPad.  I'm getting error "unable to download item"

I cannot download music on from ITunes for past purchased on my iPad.  I'm getting error "unable to download item"

I removed the sim card, reset the phone by simultaneously pressing the power and the home keys then turned off wifi. Put the sim card back in, it asked for the Apple ID password and I just hit cancel and the phone worked fine after that. Come on Apple, get your stuff together.

  • PS4 unable to download items in the download queue in standby mode

My PS4 use to be able to remotely download items purchased from PSN web store but not anymore. Items remain in the download queue and only started to download when I turn on my PS4. Game patches are downloaded automatically while in standby mode without any problem. I double checked the setting just in case and everything is as it should be. Much appreciated from any assistance provided. Edit: I have followed some suggestion posted in other forums, including delete all notification message and set my PS4 as primary. Still not working.

Same here. This is annoying. With updates it's random. With purchased games, it doen't work until I get home and turn on my PS4 from rest mode. The Download List says that it will start once my PS4 is turned on. It's in rest mode, that's the point of rest mode, right? I have everything enabled, so it's defintely not the system and I'm definitely not the only one facing this issue.

  • TS1702 Unable to download items message

Everytime I download a new app it tells me that there are at least 15 things that it was not able to download, including music and apps. I really don't think there is anything that hasn't downloaded but how do I get this message to stop popping up or check to see if it's true?

I am still working on this problem and I just noticed that when I go back into itunes on my computer and then go to "File" then "Devices" all the tabs under devices are greyed out so I am unable to sync or transfer purchases?

  • IPhone keeps saying Unable to Download this item when i'm not trying to download anything.

My iPhone 4S keeps coming up with a message saying "Unable to Download Item" and I don't know what app / music it is talking about so I press done but it keeps coming up like every 10 or so minutes.
Here are some screenshots of it:
It would be really helpful if someone could give me an answer to why it is doing this.

Go to Settings > General > Date & Time, make sure it's correct.
