Constant white screen and inability to reset ipod nano

Hi all,
I just purchase my ipod nano from singapore and I realise that my ipod nano hangs often with a white screen and even after resetting. Can you pls advise me on how to avoid this problem?
And I am now in Paris studying, does the warranty covers worldwide??
Thank you.

Just bought a new iPod touch and I got a white scree and cannot turn it off. I have tried reset via the power and home button but still have the white screen.
Is there a quick fix or should I just return it under warranty?

I have a bright white screen when turning on my nano 7th gen. Have tried resetting and restoring settings - no change. Any ideas please?

    Hello pipworms,
I would be concerned too if my iPod nano's was just showing a white screen.  I recommend following the steps below:
    Display shows a white screen
Try putting the iPod into disk mode:
Reset the device (Reset the device by pressing the Sleep and Home buttons simultaneously until the display shows the Apple logo. This should take about eight seconds).
When the Apple logo appears, press and hold the Volume Down and Volume Up buttons simultaneously until the device enters Disk Mode.
While the device is in disk mode, sync it to iTunes and try to restore.
I got this information from the following article for the 6th generation iPod nano.  The steps are the same, except I updated the reset steps with the reset for the 7th generation iPod nano:

  • I have a bright white screen on my Gen 4 ipod nano. I can still see text if I look hard enough, and it still plays music and stuff, but it's really hard to see.

As described above, my screen is bright white, but it still plays music. It's really hard to see, and I've tried everything. I manually restarted it like 20 times, I updated software and reset it, and I've just waited. It's happened once before, but after I waited 20 minutes it worked, and that was 6 months ago. But this time, it seems to just stay with a white screen.
If anybody knows what to do to solve this, and what caused this, please answer.

Water damage is not covered, and I guess Apple tech will find out about it as soon as they open the device.

  • Constant White Screen and Only Recognized by iTunes in Disk Mode

My 5th Gen iPod fell out of my pocket and even though it was in a case all I get is a blank white screen. No matter what I do, it remains that way. The battery still holds a charge and the white screen will last for hours. I've noticed that if I hold the Menu and Select buttons, the iPod turns off and I can hear the clicking noises when I push a button. It does reset, but only to the same white screen. If I put the iPod in forced disk mode, it is registered perfectly by iTunes and Windows, but it remains non-functional otherwise. If I try and connect the iPod to the computer without being in disk mode, it is registered by Windows but does not show up in iTunes or Windows Explorer.
I have restored the iPod several times, however, no matter what I do, it always returns to the blank white screen. If I run a diagnostics in iTunes in forced disk mode, I get an error and iTunes shuts down.
    I would appreciate any help!

This is the only support document with information on error 4005. It seems to be a disconnect error, and can happen for any reason. The diagnostics they use at Apple do not always provide the information about why, just that there is a hardware error. Any number of things can go wrong with electronics. I'm sorry I could not be any more specific, but then, neither could Apple.

  • My ipod touch 4th gen froze! blank white screen and doesn't respond when turned off, or connected to my laptop

my ipod touch 4th gen froze! only blank white screen and doesn't respond when turned off or connected to my laptop!

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
Finally, if the Restore doesn't work, let the battery drain completely.  Then recharge for at least an hour and Restore again.

IPOD touch has a white screen and is froze.  Will not connect to computer to start factory settings.  How do I fix this?

    Hey Woolley13!
I have an article for you here that can help provide you with some further troubleshooting steps for this issue:
    iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting

    Display shows a white screen
Try turning iPhone off and then on again.
If the iPhone will not turn off, try to reset it.
If that doesn't work, try restoring the device.

  • My ipod 4g has a frozen white screen and will not turn off, any advice?

My daughter's ipod 4th gen (only 4 months old, bought direct from Apple) suddenly has a frozen white screen and will not turn off. We cannot reboot it by pushing and holding the two buttons, even when held up to one full minute. When we plug it into the computer, the computer does not recognise it nor does iTunes, so we can't even do a full system restore. Help! Any suggestions of how we can reset to factory settings without using iTunes please?

    - Let the battery fully drain. After charging for at least an hour try :
iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
