Constantly getting "Do Not Disconnect"

Hi,
OK so I have a video ipod 60gb. I keep getting the DO NOT DISCONNECT thing flashing on my screen as soon as i connect it to the usb.
I have uninstalled the usb port, reinstalled it, same thing happens. I have erased itunes and reinstalled it, same thing happens. I have pressed the middle button and the menu button to reboot it, it reboots and then goes back to its "do not disconnect" thing again. I have restored the thing like 5 times, nothing makes a difference. Someone help me, I want to be able to use it again.
Thanks,
Liav L.

The answer could be as simple as you have your iPod enabled for disk use. If this option is switched on then the Do Not Disconnect will stay there until you manually eject your iPod.
Connect your iPod and in iTunes 6.x go to Edit>Preferences>iPod. Under the Music tab see if your iPod set to automatically sync (automatically update songs and playlists) with iTunes and also has a tick in the box marked “enable disk use". In iTunes 7 this option is to be found in the iPod preferences "Summary" tab. Remove this tick and your iPod should automatically disconnect after it’s finished updating.
If you have your iPod set to manual update, the box will be greyed out and ticked by default, in that case check this link: Safely Disconnect iPod

  • Connecting iPod to computer & getting "Do Not Disconnect" (not recognized)

I plug my iPod (40 gig, click wheel) into my computer and the screen goes to "Do Not Disconnect" and I can hear the hard drive turning. The problem is that it never pops up in iTunes and have tried to restore and since it keeps churning away on "Do Not Disconnect" it isn't recognizing the iPod.
I've read the forums and FAQs and I've seen similar issues but has anyone had this specific problem?
The iPod is trying to connect but never gets there.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have had this problem too and still do to this day - my computer won't recognize that the ipod is attached and basically just freezes up. Last time I loaded music from itunes, I found a very helpful post on this discussion board that told me how to change my USB speed from 2.0 to 1.1. After doing this, my computer recognized the ipod and I was able to load songs (of course it took forever but that is OK). However, I can no longer find the posting. Does anyone out there know how to do this?

  • Dock Ipod without getting "Do Not Disconnect? screen?

30 Gb U2 edition. Universal dock connected to PC, Line out connected to external apeakers.
I want to be able to dock the unit and then control the play, selection etc from the Ipod. Unfortunatley when I dock it, I get the "Do not disconnect screen" I have Itunes and Itunes helper are set to not auto start/ run in the background on PC boot up.
I know I can stop this from happening. I have done it several times by accident ,but it seems it is never the same way. So........ How can I dock the Ipod to charge and use the line out, without getting the DO NOT DISCONNECT screen?

It can be done. I have done it by accident 4 times, but I have not been able to intentionally reproduce it.
Why not control it through the PC? I do not want itunes on this PC. I can't use it when I am getting onto everyone else about having such programs on work systems.

  • Nano constantly displaying "Do Not Disconnect"

Nano is not being recognized when plugged into computer. Charges fine, but Itunes will not recognize it, and it can no longer be put to sleep by holding the pause/play button. Will not play music either, as it is constantly on the "Do Not Disconnect" screen, even when not plugged in. Tried connecting to computer and restarting, still nothing. Any suggestions?

  • Keep getting "Do not disconnect"

I just added a 2nd iPod (Nano + 20GB iPod). Everything seems to be synching fine and both ipods play their music. However, after a sync, I get the "OK" message in iTunes but the "Do not disconnect" on each iPod. It doesnt go away. I discovered if I double click on the ipod name in iTunes, the message goes away. Why is it locking up? Is the double clicking bad? Also, one time I disconnected the ipod despite the message, plugged it to power sourec, and reconnected to iTunes. It seemed to solve it then too. Neither method seems to be the right way.

The answer could be as simple as you have your iPods enabled for disk use. If this option is switched on then the Do Not Disconnect will stay there until you manually eject.
Connect one of your iPods and in iTunes 6.x go to Preferences>iPod. Under the Music tab see if your iPod set to automatically sync (automatically update songs and playlists) with iTunes and also has a tick in the box marked “enable disk use". Remove this tick and your iPod should automatically disconnect after it’s finished updating.
If you are using iTunes 7, connect your iPod and in when it appears in the source list click on it to see the preferences pane. In the "Summary" tab see if there is a tick in the box “enable disk use". Then under the Music tab see if your iPod set to automatically sync all songs and playlists. In Summary remove the tick from "enable disk use" and your iPod should automatically disconnect after it’s finished updating.
If you have your iPod set to manual update, the box will be greyed out and ticked by default. Manual update requires that the iPod is always enabled for disk use, in that case check this link: Safely Disconnect iPod

  • Ipod constantly displaying 'do not disconnect'

I just changed the options settings on my iPod nano, so that it is unlocked9i couldnt delete songs before) and now my ipod constantly displays the DND messga,e until I manually eject(ctrl+e)from itunes, whcih then allows me to charge my ipod.
Is there anyway I can revert to the old, DNC message for a few seconds, then everything is normal and operational?

Once you disconnect (manually), it should start charging normally, and if you hit a button, be in normal operation mode.

  • Constantly getting Stuck Midi Notes w/ LP & Digi 002R

    Running LP 7.1 & Tiger on a G5 DualCore 2.0
I'm constantly getting stuck notes (hanging) with using a Digi002R's midi ports going to a Roland XV5080, the other is going to a Motif ES. It's happening more than just once in a while. Any ideas on what is causing it?

    Crazyhorsestudios wrote:
I don't have 8.02 installed just what came in the box 8.0. Yes I am using the DAE Engine as it activates because I am playing audio through the Digi002R.
That may be it. But I have to believe I am not the only one using MTPAVs as they are extremely popular. They all can't be using Unitors?
Completely legal I have the box any everything. I wouldn't even know would you even get a cracked version. Too problems taking me away from music to add bootleg software to the mix.
You should be able to upgrade to 8.02 via Software Update or in Apple's download section. The initial release of Logic 8 was terribly buggy.
Choose an external MIDI track. In the "Inspector" on the left hand side of the screen you will see the Port: designation. Do all of the MTP's show up there, whatever you do don't set it to ALL. You should be able to choose the correct MTP and underneath that, the channel.
You might try disabling DAE and see if the problem persists.
Here's another idea. Are you using MIDI Clock Sync on any of your external synths.
    Go to Settings/Synchronization/MIDI Tab
If you're not using MIDI clock sync.. set all "Destinations" to off and then disable every checkbox, same for MTC and MMC.
If you are using MIDI clock sync activate the Send MIDI Clock checkbox and select only a single MTPav as the destination.
Remember, Settings are on a per song basis, Preferences are Global.
Thanks for answering the bootleg question, lately there's been quite a bit of that around here.. these are user forums and it makes it difficult to try and help people when they're using old dodgy version of plugins and programs they shouldn't have in the first place.
p.s. you aren't using rewire for anything, are you?

  • Ipod never changes from Do not disconnect when attached to Laptop

I have been having issues with my ipod nano. I have gone through all of R steps, I have reset my ipod, updated my ipod, re-installed i-tunes and the ipod software, checked to make sure my PC is updated.. everything. I am about at wits end.
No matter what I do, when my ipod is attached to my computer I am unable to get Do not disconnect to go away, and i-tunes never recognizes my ipod. I am able to see it from windows explorer.
Please help. Let me know if you need any additional information for clairification. I miss my ipod!

  • How can I go back to Firefox 5, the 6 update is terrible, constantly get 'not responding' when navigating.

I want to know if I can go back to Firefox vs 5 until vs 7 comes out? I am constantly getting 'not responding' from the browser when navigating through tabs and sites. (ie. if on say facebook, after maybe writing a comment or viewing a picture, I'll click on a second picture or other comment and I have to wait for the browser to 'respond'. This happens on multiple sites and multiple tabs.
I thought it was my internet connection at first but after trying Chrome and explorer browsers I do not have this issue.
It is really irritating and annoying. I did not have this issue with vs 5.

Have you tried the steps at [http://www.roboform.com/support/faq/roboform-v7#faq_firefox http://www.roboform.com/support/faq/roboform-v7#faq_firefox] ?
Firefox 5 is not recommended for security reasons, but if you don't want 6.0 you can try 3.6.x: [http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all-older.html]

  • IPod connected to MacBook, getting nothing but "do not disconnect"....

I've been searching the forum, manuals, troubleshooting, etc., and haven't come across any solution yet. Or even this particular problem described or experienced. I wonder if anyone might have an answer, or steer me the right direction. I am new to this stuff, please bear with me.
My iPod nano has power, the screen lights up, battery icon shows fully charged, but one second, or maybe less, after it's connected to the computer, the only thing I get is the 'do not disconnect' warning message. No action, not even a pulsating battery icon. (It does that, right, when it's charging?) Even after 20 minutes, with the battery icon on the 'pod screen showing a fully charged battery, I don't get anything on the iPod screen, just the 'do not disconnect'.
I did many resets with the hold and menu and center buttons, and even a restore for the iPod, losing the little music I had on it, and still, the 'do not disconnect' is all I get. I have been closing iTunes and ejecting safely (I believe) via the finder. Remotely, it turns on, though I have nothing on it to listen to now. A few more tries at connecting to the computer, but still all that shows is the 'do not disconnect' message, and I can't do anything.
I've had the computer and iPod a little over two weeks. A few days ago, I did update the latest iTunes software, and today was the first time to connect the iPod since then, if that might have something to do with this and maybe solving it. Everything was fine up till today. Now, I'm kind of stuck here.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

It's perfectly normal behaviour. When the iPod is connected to the computer you will always see the "do not disconnect" screen.
If you have your iPod set to transfer your music manually, then that “do not disconnect” message will continue to be displayed on your iPod until you manually eject it.
You can do this by clicking on the iPod 'eject' icon in the lower right hand corner of iTunes or the eject icon to the right of the iPod in iTunes. With a Mac, you can also drag the iPod into the trash.
If you have your iPod set to automatically sync with iTunes version 7 or later, connect the iPod and when you see the summary screen, uncheck the box marked "enable disk use".
If you are using an earlier version of iTunes, right click on the iPod in the source list, select options and uncheck the same box.
In future your iPod should automatically disconnect after it’s finished transferring music.
