Constantly vibrating iPhone

My iPhone 3G vibrates even though I've turned all sounds and vibration off.  It contiues to vibrate for long periods of time but eventually stops.  I just upgraded my OS to 5.0.1 but this did not help.  How do I stop my iPhone from constantly vibrating?

That is the most current version for my phone and just loaded it last week.  However, the version did not make a difference for my vibration problem.

You make an appointment at the genius bar of your local Apple Store and get it serviced/replaced. You broke it. If you can't even force a reboot, there's nothing much more you can do.

  • Iphone 4s won't turn on a constantly vibrates when plugged in

Hello there, I dropped my Iphone 4s today and now it is being unresponsive with a black screen. At first if I held down the home button I could hear siri but not see the screen. If someone tries to call it will ring on their end but not on mine. I tried pressing the lock screen key and home key at the same time for at least 20 seconds to reset it and nothing would happen. I plugged it into my computer and the computer recognizes it but the phone will just constantly vibrate every 5 seconds. I tried doing a system restore through itunes which also didn't work. Seems fairly hopeless to me, but does anyone have any other ideas for what I can do before I go replace it?
    Thanks a bunch.

You have hardware damage.  Get it replaced.

  • What does it mean when ipone has white screen and constantly vibrating

My iphone is turning on and off then constantly vibrates whats the problem

Sounds as if it got wet. If so, it's pretty much done. But, have you tried resetting your device by pressing and holding the Home button and power button until the silver apple appears?

My phone is constantly vibrating, what can I do?

Try resetting your iPhone by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.

  • My iphone wont turn on and its constantly vibrating

just over a week ago my iphone screen turned black and started vibrating...
when it stopped i plugged it into the charger, and it started vibrating again, i'm not sure what is wrong, i have looked at the things that have helped this such as trying to restart the phone by holding the lock/sleep button and the home button... it just hasn't worked for me
i also tried plugging it into the computer through the usb cable but itunes didnt reconise the device.
if anyone could let me know how to fix it i would really apreciate it.

  • Iphone constantly vibrates?

My iphone 3Gs has suddenly stuck on vibrate. I've tried re-boot etc. Any clues? This happened as I was walking by a bank of fruit machines, could be interference? It will still operate as normal but has a constant buzz/vibrate which makes it unusable, any help much appreciated.

I assume it's vibrating like you were receiving a call. Anyway...
Have you tried rebooting the device?
If that doesn't work, I would recommend you try resetting it.
Note: this will erase everything on the iPhone.

  • HELP!!! "Charging is not supported with this accessory" suddenly happening CONSTANTLY with iphone 4

Suddenly without warning my IPhone 4 has been giving me a "charging is not supported with this accessory error" every time I plug it into ANY charging device.  That means my car charger, USB to the PC... USB to a macbook pro... Directly to the wall with the included charger, etc.  It doesn't matter.  I guess I'm past the 1 year warranty so Apple is not any help.  Essentially I'm supposed to accept that my $200 (with a contract) phone has a 1 year life span and that I should be completely fine with it becoming useless out of nowhere.  Here's some facts.
#1 - It has nothing to do with 3rd party accessories.  One day it was working... one day it wasn't.
#2 - I cleaned lint out of the charging port on the phone.  That was the first thing I tried. I used compressed air to blow it out, I used a soft bristle tooth brush...  It's lint free.  It has nothing to do with lint.  I understand this is the most likely cause of the problem.
#3 - When I plug it into a PC or macbook via USB, I'm able to access the IPhone 4 like I ALWAYS have.  In other words, I can see pictures, I can back up the phone, I can restore the phone, I can transfer music, sync, etc.  So this would presumably rule out the idea that it's the dock connector, right?  Why would USB work, but the charging function will NOT work?
#4 - On that note, I was able to update the software to the latest version 5.1.1.  That was one of the first things I tried.  No dice.  I still get the "charging not supported with this accessory" error literally every time I plug it in with a yellow triangle icon... Seen here for example: http://tapatalk.com/mu/4c5f44af-af20-d86c.jpg .
#5 - So since it's not charging, the phone inevitably dies.  Here's the weird part... if I leave it plugged into the wall/pc/mac/car when it's dead... eventually it will charge enough to turn back on.  But once it's back on... that **** error will pop back up, it will stop charging... and inevitably die again.  So then... that would suggest that it actually IS capable of taking a charge... it's just that something in the software is preventing it from charging when the software is active, no?  Am I off base here?
#6 - So I decided I'd take it to the genius bar to have them look at it.  Right before I did that, I got the brilliant idea to try using an alcohol swab on the dock connector just to make sure it was super duper extra clean.  Oddly enough, it suddenly started working without the error.  It was working on every charger I tried.  Wow.  I thought I had fixed it.  A day later it started happening again, though.  Bizarre.  I've tried the alcohol swab thing again and it didn't make a difference... maybe it was just a fluke.... the one day I take it to the Apple genius bar and it works.  Go figure, right?
#7 - The only helpful thing the tech at the Apple Genius Bar was able to tell me was that the phone did NOT have any kind of water damage.  That rules that out.  No water damage in the charging dock OR the headphone jack.  So there's that.
#8 - Since it's no longer under warranty... I took it upon myself to buy a replacement battery via Amazon.com and installed it myself.  Didn't make a difference... still the same error.
What, if anything, can I try?  Could it really be the dock connector?  Should I try replacing the dock connector?  Is there any software-related thing I can try?  Has this happened to anyone else?   Apple has essentially told me it's my problem.  From my perspective... any product that randomly stops working a little over a year is a faulty product.  I'm not pleased at all.

Tried at least 6 different cables.  It isn't the cable.  All of them worked one day... then stopped working the next day.  My girlfriend has an identical Iphone 4 and all of the cables still work for her.
Interesting point on the data and power using different pins.  So your suggestion would be to replace the dock connector?  Found this on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Apple-iPhone-dock-connector-cable/dp/B003UGVOO2/ref=sr_1_1 ?ie=UTF8&qid=1338277549&sr=8-1 ... and found a tutorial online:  http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Installing-iPhone-4-Dock-Connector/3147/1#.T8SG_sXWu -o  ... Sounds like that might be my best bet here.
It's just odd to me that the phone gives me that error and refuses to charge... then inevitably dies.  But once the phone is dead, it starts charging enough to actually turn back on.  Isn't that slightly odd?

  • Randomly vibrating iPhone 4

Why does my phone randomly vibrate every few hours?
I'm not receiving a text, email, or any kind of notification, and it doesn't matter if my phone is plugged in to anything or not. It will just vibrate once, like if I had just recieved a notification but nothing new pops up. This will happen at basically any time of day and I have no idea why. It keeps making me think I have mail, but nothing actually happened. When I acutally do get mail/text/notification, it buzzes just like normal.

No. The vibrations happen at very random times (like 5:39 in the evening), and my phone only vibrates once whereas what reminders I do have set play a tune as well as vibrate. And they don't happen every day at the same time either.

  • New C2D Macbook constantly vibrating

I just bought a new black macbook at the apple store and noticed a strange vibration coming from the palm rest area. It was actually quite distracting as none of my older macs ever had any issues like this. The vibration is constant and at a low level but definitely noticeable to anyone and my friends who have seen the laptop have all agreed to it being "weird".
So I finally got an appointment at the genius bar and took the laptop in and was told by the technician that it was "normal". I was taken to the floor and was shown that some of their floor display ones vibrate as well (some did not). The lady explained that it's simply something I have to accept as being part of a more "powerful" machine - that vibrations are unavoidable. But - some machines on the floor didn't vibrate so this doesn't quite make sense to me.
Has anyone else experienced something like this? I'm really disappointed after spending so much money

The "genius" bar solution doesn't make sense to me, either.
One excellent source for tracking down these issues (and perhaps even getting a repair), is from this great link:
    http://www.appledefects.com/wiki/index.php?title=MacBook
    The specific text is here:
    *Vibrating Cases*
*This is due to an improperly sealed Hardrive. To fix the problem simply pull your hard drive out and put it back in.*
*Since the vibration is obviously coming from the hard drive (check to see if the vibration disappears when the hard drive spins down to verify) re-seating it would be the first thing to try. How to do this is found here:[7]. In my case this did not help. There are a few workarounds, though. If your vibrations are noticeable only when the MacBook is placed directly on a hard surface you can probably make it disappear by placing a credit card or something similiar under the front right foot or at another position under the MacBook (you may need to experiment to find the place that works). Placing the whole laptop on a few sheets of paper may also work. Others report success when changing the hard drive to another brand (no clear cut combination seems to work for everyone). Running without a battery when plugged in to AC also seems to make the vibrations less noticeable. Unfortnuately I have yet to hear about a repair solution to the problem. Most people seem to get a replacement with the hope to get lucky, since some MacBooks vibrate and some don't. It seems to be the luck of the draw really and some kind of unknown assembly problem.*
As it's an assembly issue, there's little any of us can do here. Put up a bigger fuss at the Apple Store, since clearly this problem has happened more than once.

  • Iphone 5 Screen is black and keeps vibrating on charge

Hi, the other day I replaced my iphone 5 screen and it was working up until last night when I noticed a gap between the glass and the housing up the top of the phone, i opened the phone, thinking that I hadnt put the screen in properly, I repositioned the screen and closed the phone but now for some reason the phone wont turn on with a hard reboot or normal turn on. When I plug the phone into the charger it just constantly vibrates, would you have any idea what the cause is? I think I may have damaged one of the screens flex cables but I cant find any damage

Did you found a solution yet?

  • HT4528 iphone doesn't vibrate

My iphone does not vibrate any more.. any suggestions

    My vibrator is broken!!!
Just wanted to add my story to the list of non-vibrating iphone users.
Two or three times it vibrated as if something was loose inside, like a honda civic with too much bass in the sound system. (You know... sounds like the car is going to vibrate itself apart... liscence plate rattling, that sort of noise.)
Then this morning... no vibration at all.
I will be taking it to the apple store with applecare warranty in hand for a brand new unit.
First, I must sync it at home and erase all data. When you hand in your phone remerber to erase all data. We keep way too much important info on our devices nowadays.

  • IPhone won't make or receive calls, among other issues

So I've been having a lot of problems with my iPhone 3GS. About 80% of the time it won't make calls, and about 50% of the time it won't receive calls. I'll only know if someone called me if they told me they called or left a voicemail. Every single time this happens I have full service. It's also started getting really picky about sending texts.
I'm basically fed up at this point. I'm on my second sim card, I've taken my phone to the Apple store three times, and I've been turning it off, resetting it, and switching airplane mode on and off as a last resort. I kind of need my phone to make calls, which it for some reason does not want to do. Any suggestions anyone has about what to do are appreciated.
Also, my phone has been having issues when it's been plugged in. I've been using the wall charger that came with the phone, yet I've gotten the message after plugging it in that it is a device that doesn't support charging. It constantly vibrates while it's plugged in as well, as though it's being unplugged and plugged back in and takes a really long time to actually charge (I had it plugged in for about 20 minutes and it went from 52% battery to 53% battery). I don't know if this is an issue with the phone or if the cable just died on me.
Either way, this is really obnoxious. I can't wait until my contract is up so I can get an Android.

Try cleaning the connector on the bottom of the phone. A dry toothbrush is a good tool to use. Also inspect it with a magnifying glass to make sure there are no bent pins.
You might also have a bad cable.
For the other problems have you Restored the phone and set it up as a new phone?
And I have to ask, just to confirm, the phone is not jailbroken, correct?

  • IPhone 5 not charging - second apple cable not responding

Hi, Ever since the ioS7 upgrade I have had problems charging my iPhone 5. The first apple cable I was using kept giving an error message when plugged into the macbook and then when plugged into the wall it was constantly vibrating and initiating the charge but not actually charging. I started using a brand new iPhone 5 charger and it worked for a few weeks and now I have exactly the same problem. An error message on the mac was that the usb was drawing too much power. Does anyone know how to resolve this, it seems I cannot charge my phone at all now! Thanks.

Hi - you don't have to go the Apple store, you can start by going online at the following link - http://www.apple.com/support/contact/
