Constrain File to Course

Hi,
I'm using a click box to link to a file and the file is opening in a separate window where it shuts down the course which would cause the user to have to log back in.   Can anyone tell me what I need to change in the properties to have the file open inside the course?  Here's a screenshot of the properties:

Hi,
Next to the Location where you inserted the URl, you can click the Drop Down and choose it show the "same window" so it would open it up in the same window.
Thanks,

  • Constraining file-sizes in iPhoto 6

Is it possible to export a file under iPhoto 6 such that it is constrained to a specific file-size? Such as, if I import a 1 MB file and I want to export a copy that is only 500K in size, does iPhoto have this ability? I see where I can constrain the dimensions of the image, but not the size of the file itself.
    Any ideas?

    HI Chris,
If you have no other image editing software, you can try this on PREVIEW.
Open images in PREVIEW and use the SAVE AS option > you'll see a dialog box, use jpg format, and you will also see a "Quality" slide, move more to left to make file smaller... and save to desktop with a NEW NAME. You will need to practice to get the correct file size you desire. After saving as, image will auto open again in PREVIEW, use the 'Get Info' for final file size, you can determine how much more or less you need...
This is you only option if you need orginal resolution size but smaller file size and you do not have additional image edting software... practice makes perfect...:-)

  • Export constrain file size

The lab my client uses doesn't like to handle jpegs larger than about 2MB. OK, that's their rule and I have to make it work.
In PhotoShop, when I converted to jpeg I could see how large a file it was going to produce. In LightRoom I don't know how to do that. I can choose a quality, which isn't measured in anything. And I can enter a dpi, which shouldn't make any difference if the pixel count is unchanged. There's no way to sort by size. So I guess and export them all, then check the sizes and go back again and re-export the files that are too large. Very Clumsy.
Can anyone advise me how to get these Canon 5D files to convert to jpegs at around 2MB?
    -wick

Through trial and error (no help from LightRoom), I decided to contrain the file size to within a 2K by 2K pixel rectangle. This gives me roughly the right file size. thanks to all for your suggestions. In the end, of course, I either have to downsize the image or raise the compression to around 60 (as Ian suggested). In the end, assuming a print size no larger than 8 x 10, do you think the better solution is to downsize or upcompress?
    -wick
PS: Has anyone else come across the bug mentioned in my second post, where exporting the same file over and over leads to the wrong file getting exported? Maybe LightRoom just got bored?

  • How can I organize my files in files panel;images, videos etc?

I am begining to have a lot of files in my files panel. I have a folder for images but when I put the images there dreamweaver does not know where to find them, even though I specified this when setting up.  I am now begining to get a lot of videos and would like to organize the files a lot better. any ideas?  thanks

If you already have links to your images and videos, etc., and you want to rearrange them, do it in your Files Panel, not your computer file manager system. Most of your links will remain appropriate, even if you make (in the Files Panel) new folders to store different types of files in. You can drag and organize to your heart's content in the Files Panel.
You will still want to check your links, as Gary states, but the actual reorganizing...when done with already linked files in the Files Panel...will make the checking less painful and require fewer re-linkings.
In fact, the only html file that actually NEEDS to remain at the root level is the index.html default file. You can safely store the rest in subfolders. If you have many, many pages, you might consider organizing them into folders and adding index.html pages to each subfolder. Not a copy of your main index file, of course, but 'departmental' default files. That system will also make applying javascript "breadcrumbs," such as those of Kaosweaver, quite simple, as it uses index.html filenames for breadcrumbs.
You will want to carefully keep files that are auxiliary to Flash and Video files with their Flash and Video files, and be sure to test the links and locations of those files thoroughly. But there's no real reason you can't move them.

  • How can I access a specific font face contained within a TTF font file?

I want to access "Avenir Medium", which is one of 12 faces contained within the font file named "Avenir.ttf".
CSS allows me to specify the font file (src:...), the family name (fontFamily), and the weight (fontWeight).
The file, of course, is the same for every face within the TTF file, so that doesn't help.
The family is Avenir. Am I supposed to use some version of "Avenir Medium" in the fontFamily param? Nothing I've tried has worked.
The weight is Medium, but that is not an option for the CSS param fontWeight, so this does not seem to be the way to do it.
In Photoshop the font is accessed via the Family pull-down (Avenir) and the Syle pull-down (Medium).
I have not found a way to split the TTF file into separate files for each face, though that would seem to be the simplest solution.

Use this converter to convert ttc to ttf

  • Offline running - can "GetResources() for an embedded file ever work?

This question has come up in various guises in the past, but has often then become confused with other issues (see [t-5123126] ) so I've not been able to find a useful answer. I've tried to bring the problem down to the essentials, and just want to know if what I'm trying to do can ever work, or if I should just abandon Web Start for this particular need.
Our app is J2SE Swing and creates a Derby database locally on a PC. The application then captures keyed data and stores it on the local database. Persistence is via JPA (provider was Toplink, now EclipseLink).
The data capture is performed using laptops running the application "offline" with no network connection. This is because the location has no network access of any description. Periodically, each laptop is reconnected to upload its data to a central server.
To help with software distribution, we are using Java Web Start. All the jars are signed and the .jnlp file specifes offline usage is allowed.
When running the application while connected to the network, there are no issues - everything works fine.
When running offline, the application starts up so the Java Web Start caching is working and the code is obviously accessible. However, it throws a MalformedURLException within the EclipseLink code (which we do not wish to modify). The actual statement is:
Enumeration resources = classLoader.getResources("META-INF/persistence.xml"); META-INF/persistence.xml exists within one of the jar files specified as resources in the .jnlp file.
The classloader in question is the Java Web Start classloader ( com.sun.jnlp.JNLPClassLoader) which presumably retrieves classes and resources from the remote server or from the cache depending on how the app is being run. In online mode, the persistence.xml resource is found ok, in offline a MalformedURLException is thrown.
My question: is this a fundamental "restriction" of the Web Start environment in offline mode? i.e. it can't load resources such as this xml file from a cached jar using the format shown?. My feeling is that this is just the way it is, and I should move on and try another form of software distribution, but it seems a shame to abandon Web Start as it otherwise meets our needs.
Any relevent experience of this problem would be appreciated.
Edited by: GrayMan on Aug 21, 2009 8:20 AM

A system we're developing make use of a similar setup. I'm not sure if you run into this problem, but the classes in our app uses persistence annotations and do not rely on the orm.xml mapping file. After solving the persistence.xml show stopper, I could see that the application had really slow startup times in offline mode. By looking at the access logs in online mode, I could see that the app was requesting META-INF/orm.xml and META-INF/eclipselink-orm.xml. In online mode, the web server simply returned HTTP 404 with much delay. In offline mode, this resulted in really slow startup times due to timeouts for the mentioned requests.
Creating valid xml files bundling them into the jar file of course didn't help.
I successfully disabled lookup for eclipselink-orm.xml by specifying the following entry in persistence.xml:
    <property name="eclipselink.exclude-eclipselink-orm" value="true"/>
To disable lookup for orm.xml, I modified the method loadStandardMappingFiles(String) in org.eclipse.persistence.internal.jpa.metadata.MetadataProcessor.MetadataProcessor (eclipselink 1.1.0).
Perhaps this is useful for someone else also.

  • News files shared on Windows 8.1 PRO 64b PC are not visible by XP SP3 32bits

    HEllo all,
I am sharing a directory with subdirectories on a PC running Win 8.1 (workgroup type) .
In subdirectories there are some videos files. I add regulary some files, but all my other PC running Win XP don't see the new files.
    (of course F5 doesn't work)
I put a guest account in the share and security properties with read/write autorizations , then  i put Everyone account with the same autorizations.
I used the ICACLS the grant inheritance to Everyone for the directory , and didn"t work too .
To make my new files to be visible by the other PC , i have to put the Share off, and share again the directory ...
    And so on ...
Please can you help me ??

    Hi,
Do Only PCs running Win XP have the issue? When you give guest account in the share and security properties with read/write autorizations and Everyone account with the same autorizations, please check if the new files inherit the permsisions.
You could check if Include inheritable permissions from this object's parent check box is selected.

  • Should I use .INI or .XML config files on cRIO?

I'm looking to make a configuration file for an application running on a cRIO-9022. It will contain a small amount of configuration data (like numeric offsets, file paths, and IP addresses). I have 2 questions:
    1) Which file format should I use (.ini or .xml)? I have used .INI in the past because it is human readable/configurable with notepad, but it seems like .xml is becoming the new standard
    2) I would like to be able to modify config parameters on the PC that connects to the cRIO. What is the best way to modify the config file if it is stored on the cRIO hard disk (FTP the file to PC, make changes, FTP back? Network Streams?)

Any clever ways of accessing and changing the Config File data from a LV application running on a PC that doesn't require manually editing the file? I want the operator to just be able to click a button that says "cRIO Config", open a dialog, and change the values from there.
    uhm.... Yes!
In This Post I show a bit of my hand on just exactly what I keep in a ini.config file (wel,l 1 section of a config file)  It would be nearly idiotic of me to not provide a Config editer since there are numerous Enum type defs in the delimited value for each key.  so since I, as the developer, know what sections (and possibly keys) are there I can read the file and load them to indicators on a config editor GUI.
I've actually done this two ways-
    1) a seperate app that only "admin Engineers" know the location of "Launch Config editor.exe.
    2) In the application referanced above I have a button that opens a MODAL panel to edit the file (remember- I know what is in the file).   Users need permissions (Users- Passwords and permissions are kept in a config file, of course!) to even display the "Edit Sequence" button. but the "super user" can edit the step parameters.
HINT: one of these "Steps" loads a xml file to expose telnet commands and config for the uP on the DUT.   I expect the firmware on the Linux DUT will change in the future and did not want to rebuild my app whenever a typo was fixed in a command line tool.  BUT, since there are "special characters" that do not fit nicely into a .ini I exposed the telnet commands and line ends IP address and the login script  in a xml file.
I know this did not directly answer your question!  but It should provide some food for thought.
If you can share your data structure- I can be more specific.

  • Opening CC project file on second machine fails

    Hello!
I believe I´ve read most or all of the matching topics here but I am still stuck, so here´s my situation.
On my primary Workstation I´ve created a project of medium complexity (150GB, approx. 200 files, 5 sequences).
Here everything is working just fine.
On my laptop I also installed Adobe CC. I copied the whole projects' folder from workstation 1 onto my external HDD and connected it to my laptop.
Opening and cutting works fine here too.
Now, when I save and take the project (project file only) back to workstation 1, here Premiere Pro CC fails to load it up.
The loading bar proceeds to about 75% and then freezes. If I give it some time (10-15 minutes) it finally finishes loading, but Premiere isn't showing any reaction to mouse or keyboard, there are no panels at all visible. Basically it is crashed, allthough that´s not being indicated by the task manager.
I´ve tried all the tips from in here as well as the "usual stuff":
Saving a new project file, nothing.
Deleting preview files, then saving a new file, nothing.
Importing the project into AE and exporting a new project (on my laptop), nope.
Deleting all dynamic linked comps from the old project, saving then taking it to laptop 1, opening and saving it again, taking it back to the workstation, no.
Completely deleting everything Adobe on my workstation 1 and re-installing CC, "great" experience, but to no avail.
I also followed the solution of the similar problem on another thread here in the forums, with unzipping the xml and deleting certain lines of code and so forth, still nothing.
Then I went ahead and installed CC on my second laptop (not at all to be considered a workstation). Here the projects saved on laptop 1 opened just fine (asking for media files of course...).
    EDIT:
I forgot to mention that a new and blank project from the laptops opens just fine on the workstation...
So I have to consider that something's wrong with my primary workstation. Right?
    Any ideas, anyone?
It´s a fresh installation of Windows 8.1 with 24GB of Ram, GeForce GTX 570, i7 950, WD drives only, Windows on a seperate hybrid disk...
All CC installations are up to date.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as my deadline is on monday...
    Thanks!

Try assigning the same drive letter to the laptop's external drive that you have assigned to the media drive on your workstation.  That way, any project saved on the laptop will have the same absolute media file references that the workstation has.
NB: If Task Manager still thinks that Pr is responding by showing you that it's using memory and CPU cycles, then Pr probably hasn't crashed.  It's just busy and taking its sweet time about whatever it's doing.  (Emphasis on "probably")
You mentioned deleting preview files, but you didn't say anything about cleaning your media cache.  Try that.  A good cleaning of your user and Windows temporary files might help.  You should also run chkdsk on your workstation's drives to help you diagnose whether or not hard drive failure is imminent.
    Cheers,
    Jeff

  • Broken Links in iTunes - files have not been moved

    Hi,
I'm running iTunes on my XP machine. I have about 10,000 tracks in my library. Every so often (well quite often nowadays) I get a load of tracks that have the exclamation mark next to them saying the file can't be found. I have not moved any of the tracks. When I double click ont he first offending track it asks if I want to locate it. I click OK, and it presents the folder where the file actually is (and always has been!) I then have to go through the rest of my library - each track with an exclamation mark just needs to be double clicked and it miraculously remembers where the file is!
    OK, so the questions are:
    1) Why is iTunes forgetting the locations of files that haven't moved? I'm guessing there might be some issue with the iTunes Music Library.xml - but I ahve no idea what.
    2) Can I stop it happening? Obviously the best solution is to dump windows and buy a mac - which will be happening in a month or so...
    3) If I can't stop it happening, is there a way for iTuens to just show me the broken links so that I can go through the double-clicking process easily?
    4) If I delete the library and recreate, will iTuens remember things like bespoke artwork, ratings, etc?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    X.

+"4) Absolutely not; the ITL file holds ratings, playcount, date added and other metadata that will be lost. And you can't get it back by rebuilding your library from the XML file."+
Actually, this is exactly what you can do with the XML file. Prior to iTunes 5.0, importing the XML did not capture rating, playcounts, etc. even though the data was written to the XML file. Since then, you can recreate your Library completely by importing the XML file.
A while ago I performed two tests:
    a) One where I deleted the total song references from the Library, then 'imported' the XML file (from a previously saved iteration)
    b) The other, I opened iTunes with no Library database to start, forcing it to act like a new install, then imported the XML file
In both cases, the XML file was completely read, including Ratings, Play Counts and Last Played attributes. All playlists (both Smart & Static) were recreated in their proper folders. It seems to have recreated the Library almost as well as the ITL file would. Looks as if iTunes v6.0.1 (and later) now reads and uses the complete XML file upon 'import'.
I say 'almost', as there were settings differences when starting from a 'virgin' iTunes. Also (and this is important), the create/load time when using the XML file was severely long. iTunes needed to read, interpret, and act on the information within the XML file and that took a long time. At that time, I had close to 12,000 song references and over two dozen playlists. Using a 'good' backup ITL file is an almost instantaneous fix.
Bottom line: Either file will work in recreating the Library. A backup ITL file, in my opinion, is still the easiest and fastest way to recreate your Library if one has a choice. In some cases, where one cannot place the music into the correct path for the ITL file to work properly, one can globally change the XML file to reflect the new path and use that for a very close approximation. I would suggest making and archiving legacy copies of both files a big part of your backup strategy (along with the music files, of course).
Hope this clears things up for you.
    Best of Luck

Is there a way to set this up?

Good morning.  I was researching this same issue and found a solution for Adobe 9 Standard.  I went into File > Properties > Inital View tab.  On the first line, it says "Navigation tab:"  I selected "Bookmarks Panel and Page" from the drop-down selection.  Save your file, of course.  Now, whenever someone opens this file, the bookmarks will show on the left side of the page and the document to the right.

I am using labview 6.0. I need to be able to insert information into the middle of a file without disturbing the data before and after

It's hard to give more specifics without more detail, but in general you're going to need to read in the entire file, split it into three pieces (everything before the record of interest, the record itself, and everything after the record of interest), modify the record, reassemble the three pieces in proper order, and write the whole thing back to the file.Of course if the file is very large you might not want to actually implement it this way, but conceptually at least, this is what you are looking at.If this file some sort of proprietary format?Mike...PS: this type of issue is why I really like databases...

  • Audio/Movie Files Open in QuickTime Rather than iTunes

I work with online classes at a college, and we have been posting m4a and m4v files in our online courses. we put the actual files on our Mac server and post the links to the files on course webpages.
Question: In the past, when students clicked on an audio/video link, they got the option to "Open/Save/Cancel" (on a Windows machine), or, if they had the files associated with iTunes, clicking the link would trigger the file to open in iTunes. Now, all the links are automatically launching with QuickTime with no options given.
We really need files to either open with iTunes or have the save option. Any ideas about how to stop QuickTime from grabbing the files?

I download alot of planes into my flight simulator. After I

    Rich,
The issue is that both AIR and your flight sim want to use
the .air extension. Your best soultion is probably to map the .air
extension back to the flight sim (using the File Types pane of the
Folder Options window -- this is Windows correct?).
After you make this change, AIR applications can't be
installed by double-clicking an AIR file, of course. To install an
AIR application you will have to right-click the AIR file and chose
"Open with > Adobe AIR Application Installer".
