Constrain same regardless of orientation

Is there a way to use the constrain check box when I export a batch of images so that all the images are 4x6 inches - regardless of their respective portrait or landscape orientation?
I just tried this on a batch of images that had a mix of orientations. When I checked the constrain box and specified the size to be 4 x 6 inches I was really hoping it would understand that I wanted 4x6's of everything and that this meant it would resample the longest side of the image to be 6" and the shortest side to be 4 regardless of the orientation. Unfortunately what I got were horizontal pics that were correct (1800 x 1200) and vertical pics that were (800 x 1200).
Seems like it should be a simple thing to determine which is the long side of each image before resampling.
Can this be done in Lightroom?
Thanks,
Tom

Ok, that makes sense although I never would have guessed at that. Thanks!

  • IWork '09 same regardless of which country it's purchased from?

    If I buy iWork '09 from an Apple store in the United States, will it work on my MacBook Pro purchased in Canada, where I live and want to use it?
    And would the answer be different if I purchase the iWork somewhere else around the world, such as France for example?

    iWork is the same everywhere other than perhaps the packaging and labeling of the disk being in a different language.

  • Creating the DDL -- the SQL is the same regardless if the 1 side of the 1:M

    is optional or not.
    Example:
    Entity STUDENT has Student_ID as UID and a Student_Name. Entity LOCKER has LOCKER_ID as its UID and a location.
    I created a sample 1:M relation between STUDENT and LOCKER where each STUDENT may have zero or more LOCKERs and each LOCKER may be owned by one STUDENT.
    The logical model in the data modeler looks like this: STUDENT - - - - - <-LOCKER.
    The DDL generation in the data modeler created this SQL:
    CREATE TABLE Locker
    LockerID NUMBER NOT NULL ,
    LockerLocation VARCHAR2 ,
    Student_ID NUMBER
    ALTER TABLE Locker
    ADD CONSTRAINT Locker_PK PRIMARY KEY ( LockerID ) ;
    CREATE TABLE Student
    Student_ID NUMBER NOT NULL ,
    StudentName VARCHAR2 (20)
    ALTER TABLE Student
    ADD CONSTRAINT Student_PK PRIMARY KEY ( Student_ID ) ;
    ALTER TABLE Locker
    ADD CONSTRAINT Relation_6 FOREIGN KEY
    Student_ID
    REFERENCES Student
    Student_ID
    ON DELETE SET NULL
    I modified the relationship so that each STUDENT MUST have one or more LOCKERs so the logical model now looks like this: STUDENT--- - - - <- LOCKER but the DDL generated the exact same SQL.
    Is this correct or did I forget something in the model?
    Edited by: user2014134 on Jan 16, 2011 11:37 PM

    I tried both version 2 and version 3 of the Oracle data modeler with the same results.
    I'm using the Barker notation for the logical model in case you were thinking that was an arrow pointing to student -- it's actually crow's feet.
    The logical model looks like this when the relationship is not mandatory (e.g. a student may or may not have one or more lockers)
    STUDENT - - - - - - - - - - <- LOCKER
    and the logical model looks like this when the relationship is mandatory (e.g. a student must have one or more lockers)
    STUDENT -- (solid line) -- - - - - - - - - - <- LOCKER
    Should I expect the relational model to be different for both of these? And the DDL as well? The data modeler is showing me the same thing for either (in versions 2 and 3).

  • Location address is the same regardless of page

    Since iOS 7 every web page Web address (URL) is the same in iOS Safari in the Location Field at the top of the device screen.
    Example: website.com - which is typical for the home page, but changes as you surf to different pages.
    instead of showing the whole web address like: website.com/about.html
    unless I tap the location field. Then the whole address displays.
    Is this a pref to truncate the URL, that we can turn off to show the whole URL?

    Thanks Ralph. I assumed same. Is there a pref setting for this so you can see either the short or regular address? If so, I'm not finding it. If you do, please advise,.

  • Office 2010 and Office 2007 on same machine

    I am currently running the following:
    Xcelsius Engage 2008, service pack 4
    Windows 7, 64 bit
    Office 2007 Ultimate, 32 bit
    Everything working well
    I purchased a version of Office 2010 Home and Student - it has both 32 and 64 bit versions.  My plan was to keep Excel 2007 on my machine so that Xcelsius would still work.  Then,  I loaded the 64 bit version of 2010. It seemed to work for a session, Xcelsius seemed to pull on the Excel 2007.  Then I restarted my machine and Xcelsius could not launch excel.  It seemed to occur right after I tried to import an xls that had been created in Excel 2010.
    My question is: is it possible to successfully run Xcelsius with Office 2010 Home Student 64 bit?  Should my strategy of keeping Excel 2007 have worked? Or should I accept 32-bit is the reality for the next few years?
    Also, I see that Xcelsius does not support the Home and Student version of Office.  Why is that?  Isn't excel, powerpoint, word, the same regardless of the version?

    Hi,
    As soon as you restart your system office version is updated to latest version of office that you have installed(64 bit)
    Go through the following link for supported platforms and versions :

  • Bug with workflow that creates a folder and sub folder with the same name.

    Hi,
    I've found a possible bug in SharePoint 2010 workflows. I only have access to SharePoint 2010 and SharePoint Designer 2010 over my companies intranet, afaik I don't have access to to logs or anything server side so sorry for the any missing information.
    I had some problems with a workflow in one list that needed to create some folders and subfolders in a second list. The production version did a lot more so I setup a test area with 1 list and a workflow that only does the folder creation part and have managed
    to consistently replicate this problem.
    The test list has two columns, [title] and [sub folder title]
    The workflow starts by getting the values for [title] and [sub folder title] into variables.
    It then creates a folder in the same list with the same name as [title], and then creates a sub folder under this with the name from [sub folder title]
    So the resulting structure would be:
    Test List:-
        List item with fields [title] and [sub folder title]
        [folder: title]:-
            [folder: sub folder title]
    If both folder names are different (e.g Folder1 and Folder2) then it works perfectly fine, if both folder names are the same (regardless of character case, e.g. samefolderName and sameFolderName) then the workflow fails.
    As part of the test i made the first action of the workflow to log the message "Workflow Started" to the history list. When the workflow fail there's nothing logged in the history list other than the error: "The workflow could not update the
    item, possibly because one or more columns for the item require a different type of information."
    Creating a sub folder with the same name as it's parent works fine manually but for some reason a workflow can't seem to do it in one action.
    As there's no history list entries before the error it looks like the workflow is just failing to start but if i do something like add an if statement to check if [title] and [sub folder title] are the same, and only create the subfolder when they are not
    then it runs fine doing what it's set to.
    The function of the workflow in our office was for convenience so were just working without it. Just wanted to post to see if anyone else has come across this/could try to replicate or explain this  and see if it's a SharePoint bug or something specific
    to our setup.
    thanks,
    Martin

    not sure about the specifics of your workflow, but if you're querying the list for the folders... keep in mind that a list lookup will only ever bring back ONE item... even if there are several items that meet the filter criteria... example: if i search
    a list for an item assigned to "john doe", there may be 15 tasks that meet the criteria, and it'll only grab one... this is why SP Designer WARNS you when your list lookup may exhibit this behavior.

  • How to get page orientation in acrobat plugin?

    Is there any method in acrobat SDK or PDFLibrary to get the page orientation from the plugin
    the way we have PDPageGetRotate?
    Other doubts are:-
    - is it manually possible for the user to change the orientation of a page or its fixed at the time of creation of a PDF?
    - does the word quad changes when the user changes the rotation of a page?
    - does the word quad changes when the orientation of a page is changed?
    Also, is it possible to convert the word quad coordinates across the PDF page orientations??
    Let me know ASAP.
    Regards
    Anagha

    Hi Bill@VT, do you mean to say rotating a page changes the orientation of a page in PDF??
    Also, i observed that when a PDF page in portrait mode is rotated, the word quad's remain the SAME; however if i recreate the same PDF in landscape orientation, then the quads of the words CHANGES. I clearly want to know the difference between the two for every aspect like will the word finder and word quad's work the same for both orientation as well as rotation? I think the XY axes gets changed when orientation changes which makes the word quad change. Let me know your suggestions and detail explanation on this.
    Also, please address the questions raised in the 1st post.
    Thanks.

  • Project Server 2010 - Different Schedule Dates for Different Users -- Same File

    We have an issue regarding users viewing the same schedule, different machines.
    The PMs have a schedule that was built in 2007 by the offshore team.  We are running Project Server 2010 corporate, and they the PMs here on site have Project Professional 2010.  Within the last couple of weeks, the PMs have noticed changes in
    the dates.
    When I open the schedule, I see the expected dates rendered in both PWA and Project Professional.  Both draft and published versions are the same regardless of where the schedule is opened for editing.  There are two PMs managing the schedules.
    One sees what I see--the expected dates.  The other sees differences in dates--months, in fact.  Scheduled end date is 10/22/2013.   When the second PM opens the schedule, he sees a scheduled end date of 2/17/2014.
    I advised them that the offshore team needed to upgrade to 2010 due to the differences between 2007 and 2010.  Additionally, and I could be wrong, having the server run in compability mode for so long (the upgrade was done in May 2013), is not ideal.
    (Offshore team has since updated to 2010.)
    Any thoughts on what could be causing this issue?  Corrupt version of Professional?  Settings askew?
    Thank you,
    L.D.

    My bad, I didn't know that you were not using Project Server.
    Then the file might be corrupted.
    Try the
    XML export and the
    save for sharing method to repair it.

  • SD and HD in same project

    Can you use HD and SD clips in the same FCP project?
    More like ... can I use HD image and use the SD audio format from a Panasonic HVX 200?

    David,
    As I said. I understand that SD is always going to be SD.
    My question:
    Will changing SD to HD make SD any worse.
    Why would you want to reduce the HD footage to SD quality rather than keeping the HD at full-rez and uprezing the SD?
    If your final output is anything better than SD then at least you'd be retaining the image quality of the HD stuff.
    Even if the final product is SD DVD wouldn't the SD footage look the same regardless of which approach was chosen?
    Personally I'd rather handle the uprez myself at the software level rather than letting someone's cheap 42 inch LCD do the uprez and de-interlacing for me. My experience is that SD footage looks pretty horrible on anything larger than a 32" TV.
    Hopefully BluRay delivery will become less of a dark art very soon.
    There are boatloads of very expensive SD cameras out there that aren't going to simply be put in the trash.
    I suspect that during the next year or two this is going to be a very topical and valid discussion.
    The heading for this thread is a little misleading so I'm sort of off topic. Maybe I'll just bring this up again on another thread.

  • Dynamic proxy, several instances, same name, diff ids?

    I'm using a dynamic proxy with a simple invocation handler. Using the proxy for several instances of the target object should yield multiple instances of the proxy. In the debugger, each proxy instance is named $proxy0 with different ids. Can someone please elaborate on this? Specifically, the Proxy instance is created using the target object. Thus, how can each proxy instance have the same name, when different target objects (of the same type though) are used to construct the Proxy object? Is the Proxy instance the same regardless of the target object?
    I : interface
    T: target class
    pseudo thing:
    <code>
    T t1, t2, t3 ... new ...
    I i1 = (I) Proxy.newInst...(..., ..., t1)
    I i2 = (I) Proxy.newInst...(..., ..., t2)
    I i3 = (I) Proxy.newInst...(..., ..., t3)
    Each i has name $proxy0 with different id. For instance: i1-> $proxy0 id=68, i2 ->$proxy0 id= 32, etc.
    </code>
    Insight is appreciated!

    is it the same proxy that is instantiated three times (obviously)?It is the same proxy class that is instantiated three times. Obviously. Because that is the only meaning for 'instantiate' in Java.
    But how can that be when the target object for each Proxy instance is different?Because they are three different instances of the same class, each with a different target object.
    What's the problem here?

  • Drill down drawing lines regardless of number of records

    I am trying to design a report so that every report looks the same regardless of the number of records that are in it. For example, I have a grid drawn up with 20 rows in it and I would like these to be shown on every page even if the last page only has a few records on it. Is this possible?

    Hi Arg,
    What version of CR you are using though?.
    For CR 2008 Insert Subreport in a section and right click the section in which the subreport is placed, got to the section expert and click on Suppress(No Drill Down) formula (X+2) sign and write a formula.
    This will work as a conditional suppressing of a Subreport.
    Let me know this works for you.
    Thanks,

  • Resultant calculation but result not same

    I found one issue when I calculate the Resulatnt from head x, y, z acceleration data when I process the crash test data.
    one computer XP system the result channel name  is : ResultantXYZ,
    one conputer Win7 system the result channel name is : Res_from_XYZ
    Who know why I have the different result channel name?

    Hi woshiyun,
    That looks like a difference based on the DIAdem version.  We harmonized the standard resultant channel names many years back so that they would be the same regardless of whether they were created with an English operating system or a German operating system.  You can branch your code based on the ProgramRevision variable.

  • MY THUMBNAILS APPEAR DIFFERENT IN BROWERS. HOW DO I MAKE IT THE SAME?

    Hey Friends,
    My thumbnails for my portfolio page are links to the actual designs. They are placed in a table and the table is divided up into columns and rows for the thumbnails.
    The problem is when I view the thumbnails on different browsers for example Opera and Safari it looks different. In Safari it looks the same as I designed it in Dreamweaver but in Opera it spaces the thumnails out. All I want is to have a border around each thumbnail that is equal on the top, left and sides but cant figure it out and to make it the same regardless of browers..I HAVE ATTACHED A SCREENSHOT OF HOW THE THUMBNAILS PREVIEW IN THE DIFFERENT BROWSERS. I have tested other sites in both browsers and they get it right. What am I doing wrong?
    Is there a step I am missing when I insert thumbnails and adding links to a thumbnails. I have taken all the borders off of the links. Is that right?
    HAVE A look below...
    Can anyone please help me? Any help would make me so happy
    regards
    Wesley

    Bemdesign is right.  Web design is nothing like print design. There is no reason to lose sleep over this slight rendering difference.  But you could style your images with CSS borders & padding.
    This CSS code will add 15px of uniform padding & 2px borders to ALL images on the page.
    img {padding: 15px; border: 2px solid silver}
    Or, if you wish to style thumbnails only, try this in your CSS:
    .thumbs {padding: 15px; border: 2px solid silver}
    And add the thumbs class to your HTML image code like so:
    <img class="thumbs" src="some_image.jpg" >

    Just got my new phone, but the switch from landscape to portrait and back. NO the orientation button is not locked. On phone with Apple now...this *****.

    Just got my phone yesterday as well and I am having this same issue. the orientation worked fine yesterday in every program (text, email, safari, etc.) and today i opened up safari and it would not turn. What was strange is when i went into email it was already turned to landscape mode and would not turn back. I tried a series of things to fix it and it is still not working.
    - rebooted using home button + lock
    - reset all settings under general preferences
    - tried turning orientation lock on and off
    still nothing. Ill have to call apple when i get off work. waiting to hear if other people are having this same issue.. ive been searching the web and this was the first post I came across that was having the exact same problems.

  • Generate key or filename basedon strings, regardless of order

    I have a fundamental question that seems like it would have a simple answer, but I'm just not seeing it.
    I need to generate a key from two strings, and the key must be the same regardless of the order of the strings, so long as they are the same strings.
    E.g. consider the following method:
    public static String generateKey(String s1, String s2);This method should return a key based on the two strings passed in. If the strings are in a different order, but are the same, it should generate the same key.
    A simple answer seems like simply using the lexographical order of the strings and appending them. E.g. "foo" and "bar" would always retury "bar-foo" - which is easy enough by simply comparing the strings.
    I'm looking for a more elegant algorithm to generating this string, such as hashes or th e like.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

    [code[
    public static String generateKey(String s1, String s2)
    int h1 = s1.hashCode() ;
    int h2 = s2.hashCode() ;
    return (h1<h2) ? (s1+s2) : (s2 + s1);
    [code[
