Consumption of Water & Power

Dear PM GURUS,
First of all i thanks to all the PM gurus for giving the good solutions for my questions.  I hope in future also i will get the same response from you people for my questions.
In my business scenario, Maintenance people note down the power and water daily consumption details in their respective logbook or reading enter book. after calculating the difference Sr.engineer enters the same data in Excel sheet and at the end of the month he makes one graphical representation to show the management. Now client asking same thing in SAP. How i can get this one SAP. Basically i did one thing I creates all measuring counters where ever he took the reading and updated in SAP , by using the IK17 i get the individual measuring counter details for the whole month. If i entered measuring counter from number to TO number i got the details but its not in proper manner. One by One sequentially its displaying. But user wants Bar or graphical manner. Please suggest me what ever i proposed is it right manner as per the SAP, if its right how i can improve the solution please guide me.  i hope i will get the answer very soonly.
thanks & regards
Jalu

Hi,
When you execute IK17 then list report will be display.then select columns  and small graphic icon is on menu bar
Then go to menu LIST >> GRAPHIC
or else you have option of ABC analysis and or download it to spreadsheet and generate graphic in excel

  • Power consumption with dual power supply

    Hi,
I need to know how dual power supply works, I mean, when you have two power supplies in a router if both of them are working at the same time, or if one of them is working while the other one only begin to work when the first one stops.
And if both of them are working at the same time, what is the power consumption, the same as if only one of them was working?
    Thanks

The implementation details can potentially differ per product category but usually the following is applicable:
The product provides configurable power redundancy modes and choosing a mode dictates whether load will be shared across supplies or whether a particular supply will be dedicated for redundancy.
If both (or more) supplies are working at the same time then both share the power load.
The actual power consumption depends on the power required to run the installed components and is the same whether you use power supplies in redundant or power sharing mode.

  • Actual power consumption on WS-C6509-E

    Hello everyone,
I have a WS-C6509-E with two WS-CAC-6000W power supplies. I have to determine what is the real power consumption of the whole device but I noticed that there is a mismatch between measurements and show power output so I would very much appreciate if someone could explain why is that so.
I did the following test to try figure out the consumption from the power grid.
Step 1. When both supplies are active, show power gives me the following output:

Step 4. I used the current clamp to measure the current on the remaining power input and it reads 4.9 A.
When I multiply the current with voltage I get
    P=4.9*230=1127 W.
So why does the show power output gives system power used = 2253.72 Watts, which is actually double value of measured 1127 W? What am I missing?
Thank you in advance for any help on this,
    Marin

    marin_otto.
Where are you located and what AC line voltage are you operating on (208 or 230v)?  I ran into your post and was wondering if you were operating on 208v which is line to line (two hots) and perhaps you are only measuring current on one line, effectively half the power.

  • C7600 power consumption

    Hello,
I'am trying to find out actual power consumption on c7600 routers.
When issusing comman "show power used":

router don't show actual power consumption, it shows sum of all power allocated for each of the module in router... Even for redundant SUP/RSP even if it is not in router.
On ASR9k, I can see exact power consumption on each power module:

  • 7961G and Power Consumption

    I have a 3750 with 48 ports.
I can only use 24 ports with 7961's. After that, no more power can be drawn from the switch.
I noticed that the 7961's are using 15.4watts of power.
    7960's used 7.7watts mode.
Can the 7961's use 7.7watts mode?
This is not configurable on the switch.
Is it configurable on the IP Phone??
I can't find any documentation on Cisco's web site in regards to 7961 power consumption (only 7960 power consumption).
    thanks,
    Paul

    Hi Paul,
Are these phones 7961G or 7961G-GE? The 7961G are a class 2 device (7.7 watts) and the 7961G-GE phones are a class 3 device (15.4 watts). These are not configurable settings.
Each Cisco Catalyst 3750-24PS or Cisco Catalyst 3750-48PS switch can optionally detect the PD Power Classification signature and budget the appropriate power. This reduces the maximum power that must be budgeted by the switch and provisioned in the wiring closet. The Cisco Catalyst 3750 PoE switches have **370W**(this is enough for 48 class 2 devices @ 7.7 watts 48x7.7 = 369.6 watts) available for Power over Ethernet, which is shared by all 24/48 ports. The switch allocates the maximum power a PD needs.
    Have a look at these Cisco docs;
    Cisco Unified IP Phone 7961G
Power Requirements The phone is interoperable with Cisco Pre-standard PoE and with IEEE 802.3af PoE (the phone is a Class 2 device); 48 VDC is required; it can be supplied locally at the desktop using an optional AC-to-DC power supply (part number CP-PWR-CUBE-3=).
    From this doc;
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/phones/ps379/products_data_sheet0900aecd802ff020.html
    Cisco Unified IP Phone 7961G-GE
Power Requirements The phone supports the IEEE 802.3af PoE (the phone is a Class 3 device) standard; 48 VDC is required; it can be supplied locally at the desktop using an AC-to-DC power supply (part number CP-PWR-CUBE-3=).
The Cisco Unified IP Phone 7961G-GE supports IEEE 803.af Power over Ethernet (PoE). It also can be powered locally with a power supply (part number CP-PWR-CUBE-3). **Note: The Cisco Unified IP Phone 7961G-GE does not support Cisco Pre-standard PoE.**

  • Bridge Rectifier Power Consumption

    Hello,
I am having trouble with multisim when it comes to power consumption involving AC power sources and bridge rectifiers. Even with a simple load the power source is supplying kilovolts to the circuit which should not be drawing so much power. Can anyone help me figure out what's going on here. Thanks. Attatched is the circuit in question with nodal some nodal voltages.

I do not know how you are doing your calculation. This is actually not a trivial excercise for this circuit because the bridge experiences in-rushes of current when it passes current to charge the capacitors. The waveform is far from sinusoidal. You would need to analyze and perform some analsis on waveforms.

  • 100% reduction in standby power for DVR, etc. Who do I contact?

Our company is CSI Assoc. (we perform direct certification assistance and product homologation type approvals for electronics and telecommunications products). One of our strategic business partners has invented a circuit chip. It will eliminate the standby power consumption in all electronics equipment. Please note - NOT REDUCE standby power but ELIMINATE standby power. This will work on all electronics that have vampire or standby power. TV, DVR, DVD, microwave ovens, X-box, etc. Also chargers of all kinds for power tools, personal hygiene products, cell phones, etc.
The Environmental Protection Agency plans to strengthen its Energy Star standards by 2013. Some of today's boxes have obtained the Energy Star seal and do not possess standby or sleep modes. But according to Noah Horowitz, senior scientist at the natural resources council, many of these boxes have an on/off button that just dims the clock and doesn't significantly decrease power use. Also, he noted that cable boxes are not designed to be turned on and off entirely, but adjusting the software over a cable could greatly improve energy efficiency.
As of September 1, average electricity consumption of Energy Star qualified products are to drop to 97 kilowatt hours a year from about 138, and by the middle of 2013, they must decrease to 29 kilowatt hours per year. Cisco says it plans to offer new box models this year that will comply with the new regulations by cutting energy consumption by 25 percent. It will do this by adding a standby mode, but not a sleep mode.
To combat the problem of phantom load consumption (aka standby power), the engineers have invented a unique power circuit which uses zero standby power. We are currently in the initial process of designing the circuit into chip form and for a limited time we are strategically seeking a select handful of companies interested in providing test verification assistance.
I am not sure who at Cisco, or other companies if you have contacts, that I should contact to see if they are interested is working with us on this trial program. Our business partners stated any participant would be in an advanced market position with a contractual period of exclusivity.
As you know the hardest part of this process is figuring our who to contact. Any assitance you could offer would be appreciated.

Try customer service http://www.apple.com/contact and see if they will straighten this out.

    2) How i will track it the system that how many jar i got form the customers and how inventory should we maintained.
    3) How the Purchase & sale process should we map in the SAP, so that it will work fine.
    4) What are customization & configuration needed in the system
Kindly suggest me the full details and help me
    Thanks in advance

you qty update only  or qty and value update for Jar ?
what you have give here it indicates you are interpreted in qty update only
    Now
    1) What material type i will use for the JAR.
Follow Jurgen given Link and decide the things
    2) How i will track it the system that how many jar i got form the customers and how inventory should we maintained.
create customer as vendor and got jar inside through movement type 501  or create free of charge goods indicator in PO
    Po-GRN
while taking jar back you are paying to customer against it? not clear yet
how inventory should we maintained.: You have to ans what you and your client want ,business is your
    3) How the Purchase & sale process should we map in the SAP, so that it will work fine.
as you said you are saling jar with water so you have create material code with material type FERT
and one material code for Jar without water
How the Purchase:- you have to provide details what you are procuring to make char ,you are not given it
    4) What are customization & configuration needed in the system
    1) Material type for Jar with water material code
    2) material type for jar without water

  • Power Saving is Fake

i just want to tell every1 here that the power saving mode doesnot saves your battery.
i have tested it for the last 4 days.
i put the my n8 on power saving mode for a period of 24 hours and during which i jst receive 2 calls and used wi-fi for 15 mins only. These are the most appopriate figures i'm telling here.
and my battery was showing last bar after exact 24hours.
then i put my cell phone on profile "Meeting" with i have disabled the ringing vibration only.
and i was expecting that i'll no longer last for 16 - 18 hours .. and i received and dialled 15 calls instead of that 2 calls on power saving mode and used the wifi for 30+ mins. But surprisingly after 24 hours i still had my battery showing 3 bars..
this really made me surprise that if the phone is showing me 3 bars of battery under normal conditions then what the heck is Power Saving Mode is doing ??
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

This is hardly a scientific analysis. Power saving mode doesn't switch off any particular features, it simply puts various functionalities on a mode that consumes less power when not being used during normal operation. Only if the phone is in offline mode with all types of radio signal disabled is it truly doing "nothing".
Switching to a profile with no audible ringtones will only make a significant difference to overall consumption if your power unless you receive literally hundreds of calls, the maximum any incoming call will ring is 30 seconds which even at highest volume is not going to make a dent.
Your WLAN usage is not just down to surfing, certain home screen widgets or other apps may be making connections at other times. Personally, I only use widgets to give me quick accss to phone features such as my contact, calendar, music player etc. - I never have any of the downloadable widgets or widgets for TV/Radio services etc. active.
By far the biggest impact on your consumption is likely to be your network connection, firstly you need to be aware that power consumption is different if the phone is on GSM or 3G, talk time is significantly lower on 3G than GSM, though standby (ie: completely idle) time is marginally higher on 3G. If you are in an area where your network operator has a lower quality 3G service, it is possible that your phone is having to hunt more often for signals (if 3G drops out, the phone aurtomatically picks up GSM until it can find again a good enough 3G signal). If this is the case, you might benefit from switching to GSM-only mode (Menu>Settings>Connectivity>Network>Network mode>GSM) to see if this makes any difference. I live in an area where my operator only offers GSM services, so with no network switching the battery life is fantastic. I work in an area where I can usually get 3G and sometimes 3.5G, and I do notice a difference in battery life due to network switching.
I recently travelled by Eurostar from Brussels to London, during which I watched a film of almost two hours on the N8, then spent the afternoon in the city with friends during which time the phone was frequently roaming between different networks, and by the time I got to the friend's house where I stayed the night (around 8 o'clock), I stlll had three bars. Power consumption is a minefield because there are a myriad of different factors, many of which are external to the phone, which affect performance.

  • Is there any Utility industry company is using PP-production planning & exe

    Dear All,
Is there any Utility industry company is using PP-production planning & execution module and CO-PC product costing module ??
Meaning.. any Power generation/Transmission/distribution or water production/Transmission/distribution company is using SAP PP or APO for their operation business processes.
Our client is actually an integrated Utility having very much integrated product lines like Processed Sea water for cooling, Process water for Industries, Potable water & Power for the communities/ industries.
Please let me know.. as we are planning to implement the PP and CO-PC for product costig..
As I know Tata chemical, Gujarat-India is using SAP PP module for their captive Power generation.(I have worked there as SAP CO consultant). But there is no transmission and distribution as such.
But production processes are covered by PP and product costing CO-PC is also implemented and it is giving very accurate cost per unit both for plan side and actual side.
    regards,
    George

    Dear Pavan,
    Thanks for the reply..
Yes, as you rightly mentioned..It is not very simple...Utility production is bit complicated than normally believed by majority.
But for captive production of power & water, we had used PP/CO-PC successfully for may be more than 12 years(in tatas)..
What was done in Tatas, power as a material(finished good) and BOM/ recipe for it in the PP.
(because we had used PP-PI there) and Power's BOM water is an input material and in Water production BOM power is an input material..i.e recursive BOM and system (PP/CO-PC) will take care this iteration or this give and take.
And main product was input for itself in its third stage.. And steam is input for itself and input for power/water and opposite also true..
And we got 5 different steam, like 50 pound, 100, 250 pound ..Still with all these complexities PP/CO-PC is able to give actual cost per unit accurately. So for production/generation standard PP/CO-PC will work fine...we are 100% sure...but for transmission and distribution is there any better way or solution model ??
But the main thing or the question is that whether you are able to get the actual qty of production consumption in process.
Then system (PP/CO-PC) will take care this iteration or this give and take.
And on the actual side of product costing, we have to use the material ledger functionality, wherein we can use multilevel settlement by which we can settle the actual cost variance at each stage of production to the next stage of production.
But the first reaction, when people hear about utility...it is very very simple...you are only producing one 2-3 final products..only 2-3 technologies involved...
But reality is quite different...and currently all the major utility company's production processes are outside SAP system, even when they are using SAP for all other functions/departments...but their main function is to produce water/power is outside the system..and like any other company production/generation processes are the most repeated activities in their company.
And if you see..even two repair works in say SAP PM module processes are different to each other..(still we are using a SAP module-PM for that to have historcial data and to learn from our from experience)
But production of desalination water from desalination plant is same today, tomorrow...day in ,day out...it is same..
And if we are saying we cannot co-relate input quantities with output quantities..we are essentially saying we have no control over production processes and we don't want to standardize our most repeated  activity(production)
Anyway, since production processs is out of the system means, no quantitative data-production related  is available in the SAP system and most of the organisation using excel for reporting of quantitative data-production related..
    regards,
    George

  • Passive graphics card for 2-monitor setup

I am looking for a graphics card for use with 2 monitors in a dual monitor configuration that has:
    Passive cooling
    1 x DVI port
    1 x DisplayPort
I'm aware that CS6 can  make use of some of the more advanced graphics card features, such as Open CL, but I don't understand the technicalities of this, nor what this implies when choosing a card.  I will not be doing any video-editing, video playback or gaming.
    My questions are:
Would a card such as the Sapphire Radeon HD 6670 Ultimate provide full support for CS6, without being overkill? (http://www.sapphiretech.com/presentation/product/?cid=1&gid=3&sgid=1088&pid=1240&psn=&lid= 1&leg=0)  -  I thought that the "low active power consumption and Dynamic Power Management" features seem a good idea, since the card will never be used very intensively.
Or would the much cheaper Zotac Synergy Edition GeForce GT 210 be just as good for my needs. (http://www.sapphiretech.com/presentation/product/?cid=1&gid=3&sgid=1088&pid=1240&psn=&lid= 1&leg=0)
Or are there other types of cards that would be more appropriate?
And finally, can you connect a single-link DVI device to a dual-link DVI port?  (If so, I would like the DVI port to be dual-link, for future compatibility.  If not, it will need to  be single-link, for my current hardware.)

For the benefit of anyone searching on this topic in the future, a posting of this question on Silent PC Review (http://www.silentpcreview.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=65413) yielded some extremely helpful responses.

  • LMS3.1/RME: inventory report

    Hi,
I would like to get an information about gigaStack port on switch inventory.
I have generated an Detail device Report but I didn't get this information.
I can find this information by show interface status | include GigaStack on switch :Gi0/1                        connected    trunk      a-full a-1000 1000BaseCX Gigastack
    Gi0/2                        connected    trunk      a-full a-1000 1000BaseCX Gigastack
So, I try with RME -> Tools -> Netshow. see file attached.
I get the information but I prefered to get it in with a report because I need to get thoses informations for 150 devices.
Is there a way to get it on a report ?
When I look at RME->Admin-> Inventory-> Change Filter,
I think that there are more port information compare to report generator.
    Status
    Parent Relative Position
    Port Interface Index
    Operational Status
    Manufacturer Name
    Field Replaceable Unit
    Alias Name
    Slot Configuration
    Port Model Name
    Port Vendor Type
    Power Remaining
    Port Serial Number
    Power Consumption(%)
    Description
    Power Consumption
    Component Type
    Power Available
    Port Index
    Power Allocated
    Maximum Power
    POE Admin Status
    Physical Entity Name
Custom report, port attribute, I can take only thoses attributes:
    Maximum Power
    Power Allocated
    Power Available
    Power ConsumptionPower Consumption(%)
    Power Remaining
    POE Admin Status
Why there are more infiormation for change audit than inventory report ?
    Thanks, Elisabeth

Do you think that there is an attribute or an snmp variable for GigaStack information like I can get with show status ?

  • Costing for material for which no accounting document generated

    Dear Gurus,
I want to have the cost of raw water used in manufacturing product X to flow in the cost of product X.
But the raw water should not be posted to FI.
The cost of raw water should come in the standard cost estimate as also in the process order..
    Thanks and Regards,
    Amit Dhanurdhari

    Dear Amit Dhanurdhari,
There are 3 posibilities basically for this problem,
    1.  Creativity of the Activity & following through the Work Center .......
    2. Create a Material Master Rerocd, and maintain the Proce of spefic for water power charges
    3. Maintain the O H key and Assign to the Cost Sheet etc...........'
These are the points already discussed above.
    Regards
