That one sounds familiar as well. My feeling on several of the more common glitches is that they are tied one's AppleID's DB record - some datapoint gets a 0 when it should be a 1. I most recently started failing to get email notices. It took AppleTechs 3 weeks to find and fix. Fortunately, there is often a workaround if one understands what parameters are involved - mine was the parameter "Following". The workaround amount to the digital equivalent of turning the switch on/off/on - i.e., it wasn't the bulb it was the switch.
Others are likely the result of client-side computing that is so popular these days - supposedly "lightens the server loads" - when a several hundred line JavaScript gets the hiccups on the client side, strange things happen. We have learned just to push on and deal with the things that we can.
TextEdit is a best practice for lengthy posts, although the auto-save > Restore is generally reliable. Note that there is NO auto-save/restore on Original Questions, just replies.
BTW, your searching skills are better than most - finding similar threads is definitely not a great strength of the JiveWare (my term for the software that runs these forums - JiveSoftware(dotcom) - I use Google Site Search - try out [ contact moderator site:discussions.apple.com ] (no brackets). This thread comes up #2 hit.

Once you have changed your Apple ID, you need to set it up for use in the various systems such as iTunes, the App Store, etc so it can be used as intended. This article shows how to do that -

I keep getting emails for another user; can't seem to contact Apple support about this
Hi there,
I keep receiving emails for someone called Amanda to my email address. These are not spam emails; it seems like someone called Amanda is signing up to reputable websites using my email address. So far, Pinterest, Educreations and a women's magazine have sent me emails to confirm my membership. There doesn't seem to be anything suspect going on: they're all respectable websites, and they're always addressed to Amanda. I was also receiving confidential emails from a legitimate business with invoices etc. a while back.
I'm confused as to what would be the cause and/or point of this. It seems like a very benign way to spam/scam somebody. Is it possible (I feel ridiculous even asking this) that emails can become crossed like telephones? I know, I know, it's a stupid question.
I'd like to contact Apple Support about this, but I seem to be going round in circles on the website. Unless I have AppleCare (mine is expired) I can't seem to get in contact with anyone. Can anyone help me or point me in the right direction?

Trying to make a purchase on itunes and keep getting prompted to verify account information. I've done this and when i click done, it says to fix errors; i repeat the process then it says to contact apple support. Any ideas or other experiences with this? I've had this happen before and it got resolved after i called them and it took a few days, not very convenient. The same thing happened when I was just trying to update my account info with a new billing / account address.

Hi! My name is Nazım . I live in North Cyprus. I’ve got Apple Ipad 2 and Iphone 4. My ıpad2 is iPad 2 Wi-Fi + 3G: Serial number: DQTFFVC1DFJ3., IOS 5.0.1 (9A405), model MC775LL .my itunes is last version. I bought my ipad from America.
I’ve recently bought Philips DC390 from Apple Store in Oxford Street. Althouh Philips dock 1 seemed to work properly (charged and player). The second dock isnot compatible with my ipad2. It didn’t work(play),It charges though.
I sended e-mailed to Philips.uk for assistance. They recomend met o reset my ipad2 to see if this clears any issue, but it does indicate a fault with the unit. It didn’t work either.s(everal time Ireset my Ipad2)
In addition to this, I contacted Apple support.UK on 22nd December 2011-12-23. I informed about the problem was likely to be with the apparatur.However I tried my father’s Ipad2 last night.software is the same my Ipad2’s IOS 5.0.1 (9A405), to my surprise it worked properly. I’ve already reset my ipad2 several times but it didn’work.
I would be grateful if you could make me some recommendations to sort out the refered my problem.Hi Nazim

HT5621 can't contact Apple support because it's product related
I wanted to start using iCloud so I clicked on it in Preferences. This led me to having to change my Apple password since it's years since I signed in. I can actually sign in though because my keychain remembers the password, even though I don't. However, when I tried to change the password it sent me an email. I can't get this email though because it's been sent (I think) to my .mac email address (never used it). If I open Apple's Mail programme (instead of my usual Outlook programme) it DOES open the .mac account but the most recent emails are from 2012, when Apple closed the MobileMe service.
So... I tried to change my primary email address in the Apple ID settings but I can't (of course) because it doesn't have the edit button next to it (something to do with how it was originally set). The advice on Apple's support pages is that it can't be changed and that I have to contact Apple Support. I tried to do this but (of course) I can't because support is PRODUCT related and not SERVICE related. My Apple products (two iMacs, two iPads and an iPhone) are al out of the support window.
This is extremely unimpressive and frustrating. I'm actually trying to buy another service from Apple (iCloud) but it won't let me.Glad to hear it's resolved, for future reference all support related to an Apple ID is free.
Contact AppleCare (or Apple ID Support), upon speaking to an operator you should explain that your problem is related to your Apple ID, this way you will not be charged for assistance, even if you don’t have an AppleCare plan. -

I'm getting a contact Apple Support message when trying to purchae in itunes. Unable to buy anything. Live support says "read terms and conditions". No place to confirm acceptance. No additional help available. Seems crazy - All I want to do is give them my money....Anybody?
This is a follow up. Finally, after almost 72 hours, I recieved another email from the original iTunes support representative. According to her, the problem is that one or more of my songs on the account are either not eligible for the upgrade or the file is corrupted and can not be upgraded. In short I cannot use the "Buy All" feature because I will always hit this roadblock. The only way to resolve this, is to upgrade each song individually or select a few songs at a time to upgrade.
I will have to do this until I get the song or songs that is causing the problem. Once I have identified the song(s), I can chose to repurchase them and get a refund. All songs today are at the DRM free format so repurchased songs will automatically be the upgraded file.
So I'll now begin the upgrade of the 314 songs. I guess it could be worse.
Okay, I got an answer and an offer of a refund, but this answer certainly could have been provided three days ago. Am I being unreasonable? -

I'm from VietNam, i have some problem to be solved and i will tell you detail.
I have got help from my friend to create ID iTunes US for me because my computer notified error "please contact apple support to complete transaction". Then he gave ID to me and i want to edit some information but it notified that message again. So i use VPN to done it. Few days later, i have earned gift card for my ID and i have to purchase coin in-app (clash of clan) but the message repeat again. I try to use VPN to purchase it but useless. I have contacted to apple support (he is Kretz) 2 times but it isn't fixed. I hope that time will be success, it will be fixed by you or you can guide me how to fix it.
