Last week i had a big problem with my Nokia N81 8g (screen fracture...phone still worked but couldnt see any screens) I managed to copy the contents of my phone to my pc via My Computer-NokiaPhone Browser-Copy-Paste into a new folder....
I've now been given a new Nokia N82 but have no contacts. which folder contains my saved contacts from my Nokia N81 8g ?
Heres a picture of the files i have:

Always you can try to swap folders, but with phone is like with pc, you must install some applications, to they work. There is some applications, which allowe to recover files from backup files, you didn't make such one.
But system files are hidden in phone memory (not in mass storage), to this memory you have not full access even in a USB mode and in those system files are contacts and rest of your private data.
Sorry, maybe someone knows more in this case.
This way, you did, you can copy e.g. pictures, maps, installing versions of applications, videos, music any attachments, everything what acts standalone. Contacts, calendar entries are inner parts of other applications and they are hidden. You can only import to and export from these apps.
I suppose, that  after you copy all your files to mass storage you will restore your maps if you downloaded before, they should be in folder Cities, music, images. You have to copy contents to adequate folders on your memory card.
