  • PlayBook Contact & Calendar Sync/Video Chat - can't get them to work

I love my PlayBook ((OS 2.1.0.1088) and as a BB9790 user had never bothered to try to use native contacts/calendar applications until recently when a couple of relatives bought PBs and asked me questions. I have a number of GMail accounts which work brilliantly for mail receiving and sending on the PB, but have failed totally to get contacts and calendar to sync despite selecting that option for one of these. In desparation created a new Hotmail account, imported some key Outlook contacts and tried to sync them with my PB. Nothing. If I try to create a new contact I always get the message after tapping to enter the contact information: "Application was interrupted. Please close and open it again to continue." If I do that and restart contacts, nothing changes. I tried deleting all my email accounts and starting again with a GMail as the primary email with sync for contacts and calendar, but the problem persists. This also impacts Video Chat as it uses the same contact application so is unusable. If I search Contacts it appears to do a remote lookup but never finds any contacts.
The Calendar application when opened just shows the Calendar app icon in the top left corner with 31 and no calendar. Swiping down to show the settings, indicates 3 GMail calendars from different accounts are in place and if I press refresh it suggests a sync is taking place but no calendar framework ever appears, let alone entries.
Would appreciate any suggestions as I have read all the related PB contacts' forums which haven't offered a solution to this particular issue. Thanks

  • BIS Contact/Calendar Sync Broken and Unreliable

I'm a Google Apps reseller in Canada.  Recently, making Blackberrys play nice using BIS has been an absolute horror story.  A quick breakdown of the recent history of the Blackberry:
-Originally, did not support any sync of contacts and calendars natively in BIS
-To combat this, a Google Sync tool would be installed on each individual phone to allow these synchronizations
-OS version 5.0 and above (I think?) began to support contacts and calendars natively in BIS.
This is all fine and dandy, except for two glaring issues.
1.) Whether or not a new or old phone with any given OS of 5.0 and above wil support this syncing through BIS appears to be completely random.  Some new phones directly off the shelf will not show this option in the BIS settings, and others have it right away.
2.) This sync service that is built in to BIS enables and disables on devices at random, with no warning or permission given or required.
We have experienced these two issues extremely consistently since this sync was enabled in BIS, and it has become an increasingly common problem for any of our customers (not only those on Rogers service.)
A quick example to display why this is far worse than it may appear at first glance (keep in mind these issues have occured several times to the point where we are reluctant to advertise any ability to sync with the Blackberry):
We begin with a user that has a brand new Blackberry (likely a torch or something).  We configure their email account and get things set up, but when attempting to enable sync through BIS we find that only deleted items is displayed as an option.  We install the Google Sync utility, and log in to sync contacts and calendar.  Everything is running smoothly.   One day, we receive a call because they are suddently experiencing an infinite number of duplicates on their calendar and/or contacts.  We check the BIS settings to find that the sync options are not only available but they are both already enabled, with no warning.  Because of this, the two sync tools had been replicating eachother's calendar appointments and contacts.  We decide due to it's unpredictable nature that it is best to sign out of the Google Sync tool, clean up the mess and let the BIS sync take over from here.  Everything is fine again.  A few weeks later, another phonecall.  Calendar and contacts are no longer syncing.  We check BIS, and the contacts/calendar options are no longer present.  WHAT THE HECK?!
So, as you can imagine, either the user lives with no wireless sync, or we have to perform cleanups every few weeks when someone flicks the switch on the back end with no rhyme or reason.
I would love to escalate this to RIM though that is being assumptive that is is somehow their fault.  It is possibly an issue caused by the service providers (Bell, Rogers, Telus) as far as I know.  Can anyone help me pin down this problem?
    Thanks!

The lack of a reply from RIM on this topic and several others that are similar is disappointing.
I replied to another entry that had a similar issue. Rogers was also singularly unhelpful (they recommended I downgrade from 6.0 B2647). In my case, the BB has wireless sync turned on but it doesn't actually sync. the DM won't let me backup the calendar or restore it because wireless sync is on (even when I've turned it off).
Fingers crossed that RIM will fix the issue or at least answer with a workaround. Current workaround is manually syncing BB and online calendar each morning. Not good!

  • Email / Contacts / Calendar sync with @live.ca account

One step forward Two steps back!!!
I am just about ready to give up on BlackBerry
Right from the beginning not ALL my @live.ca contacts would sync to my Q10,after 3 tries I typed them in manually.  But now after the latest update (10.1.0.4181) both contacts and calendar no longer sync at all!
    Beyond frustrated!!!

Syncing with cloud-based databases has been problematic for me too. I synced to my Apple iCloud account to get my contacts on my new Q10 but after that initial sync it stopped working. I set up GMail contacts and it never worked. I've also tried Live/Hotmail contacts and got nowhere. BlackBerry Link doesn't sync my contacts on my Mac either. So I'm back to maintaining two contact lists - on my Q10 and on my computers. It wasn't so bad because I had to do that with every phone I've owned until I used an iPhone. As a Mac user the iPhone is a dream as far as syncing contacts and files with iCloud.

  • Hangs forever @ Contact / Calendar Sync

    Hello..
I have a MBP 13" running Snow Leopard and iTunes 9 and an iPod nano 3rd gen. All are the latest versions of software.
Now I've tried 'restoring' the iPod nano, but no difference -- after syncing music and playlists, iTunes continues trying to sync contacts and calendars forever. I'm asking it to sync all contacts, and only sync a couple of my most important calendars. (Those calendars do go back quite a few years to when iCal was first introduced; there doesn't seem to be an option to only sync the past '3 months' or something, and I'm not willing to set iCal to delete events older than a few months).
It's not the end of the world to check my calendars on my nano, but it's just annoying to have to stop the sync manually each time I connect it to iTunes.

    Try this ,
    Open the itunes ,
Click on the left-side on ur ipod icon ,
Then click on the top on summary ,
Then click on the manual selection , an
option will appear if u click on the
any left side icon on the library ,
Then click on apply on that option
then u can select ur items by 1 by 1
    manually.
NOTE : IF U CAN'T SLECT THE MANUAL SELECTION
THEN TRY TO FIRST DESELECT THE OTHER
OPTION ON THE ABOVE AND BELOW OF IT ,
THEN SELECT THE DESELECTED ITEM IF U WANT
    OK
    HAVE A NICE DAY

  • How can I get my contacts/calendars sync'd properly on Mac and iphone?

I've set up WIFI sync and finally can see podcasts on iphone etc but my contacts and calendars are not syncing between these two. I have to sync my ipad 2 with all of this but don't want to do this until the sync'ing is worked out between iphone and Mac. Any help is really appreciated.

  • Contact & Calendar Apps that sync without Lion & iCloud?

I love Snow Leopard and no offense Apple, but I don't see anything so compelling in Lion that I need to spend the amount I will to get applications like Adobe's Creative Suite, Filemaker, Office, etc. to work on Lion, when the versions I have work just fine now on SL.
That said, the only reason I will be upgrading to Lion is because MobileMe is going away and I MUST sync my calendars and contacts between my Mac Pro, iPhone and iPad.
It is nuts to me to have to spend $1500 to $2000 on all the other apps, just because I am about to be forced to use iCloud versus MobileMe.
So.. can anyone recommend contact/calendar syncing apps that don't require iCloud?

ymcneil - thanks for the work around. But isn't it amazing Apple forces us to do this to maintain our privacy.
I live in Australia where there are good privacy laws protecting  citizens. I do not want to be forced to use iCloud when the data sits in  the USA with weaker privacy laws and also able to be seen by the US  Government under the Patriot Act. Further I suspect Apple will  interrogate my contacts and calendar for commercial purposes and I do  not want that either.
I  chose to synch my calendar and contacts with my iphone and ipad. I have  relied for years on carrying around my phone with my diary on it. I can  no longer do that.
Whoever  made this decision at Apple has to be someone who knows little about  the world. I can actually see EU regulators getting very annoyed by  this.
I too woud like the itunes mac to iphone/ipad local backup given back.
In the meantime - thanks for the work around

  • I have two email accounts sycned with my iphone and each account has seperate contacts also synced. I am closing one email, but I would like to merge the contacts from this account with the remaing account. Does any one know how this can me done? Thanks

I am currently running two email accounts on my iPhone 4s.

I now have to close one of these accounts due to work but I would like to keep all the contacts on the account I am closing, on the iPhone.
Does anyone know how to save these contacts to my phone so I dont lose any?
    Much appreciated.

Sorry you get only one notification sound for all email accounts.  you can send a suggestion to apple here http://www.apple.com/feedback/

  • Why doesn't my iPhone calendar sync with my Mac-neither ICloud or USB connections work.

My iPhone calendar will not sync with my MacPro either by iCloud or USB connection.

Let's compare the settings on the Mac, I'm also using iCal on my MacBook Pro OSX10.9.5.
iCal/Settings/Accounts -> iCloud CalDAV selected and activated, set to "push"
    On the phone:
Settings/Mail, contacts, calendars: Syncing all events in calendar.
And in calendar app "iCloud"->"All calendars" selected.
I have no calendars selected in "On my iPhone"
Are you also syncing contacts via iCloud? If yes, does it work between the Mac and iPhone?

  • Outlook 2013 iCloud 4.0.2 Calendar Sync Issue

I am attempting to share several of my shared iCloud calendars to Outlook 2013.  Before the latest updates to iCloud for Windows and Office 2013 I was able to do this but now it doesn't work.  Outlook can still see the Calendars but new events created on either icloud or outlook aren't shared between the platforms.
I uninstalled iCloud for Windows from my computer and then checked to make sure the calendars had been removed from Outlook - which they had.  I then rebooted and resintalled iCloud.  After logging in with my AppleID I received a message confirming that I wanted my calendar and contacts put into Outlook.  It went through the process of copying everything across but when I went back into Outlook, instead of my iCloud calendars being listed under 'Shared Calendars' they were listed under personal calendars.  All the events were in there but it was not shared.  This means that once again my calendar events aren't being shared between iCloud and Outlook.
Can anyone explain how to resolve this?
    Thanks
    Steve Preston

I had a similar problem to @steve_proto's. After an update to iCloud for Windows, my iCloud calendars no longer appeared in Outlook 2013.
I tried following the iCloud troubleshooting instructions on Apple's support page https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203521 but when I installed the latest iCloud for Windows, the check box for Mail/Contact/Calendar sync was missing, replaced by instructions that I should access mail and calendars via icloud.com. Outlook 2013 calendar sync with iCloud had worked before, but now my iCloud calendars were completely missing from Outlook 2013.
My setup: PC running Windows 7, iCloud for Windows 4.0.2, Office 2013 installed over Office 2010.
I think that the fact that I had installed Office 2013 on top of Office 2010 contributed to the problem. When I installed Office 2013, Office 2010 was not automatically uninstalled. Another issue was that Apple has apparently renamed "iCloud Control Panel for Windows" to be simply "iCloud for Windows." Most of the posts I found referenced the "Control Panel" app but all of the links sent you to an "iCloud for Windows" download page.
Here's what ultimately fixed the problem for me.
Sign out of iCloud for Windows
    Uninstall iCloud for Windows
    Uninstall Office 2010
    Control Panel->Programs and Features->Microsoft Office Standard 2013->Change->Repair
    Reboot Windows
    Install latest iCloud for Windows
Sign in to iCloud for Windows
=> Now the check box is back, and iCloud for Windows prompts you for which calendars to sync with Outlook.

  • How to transfer contact/calendar information from storm to Incredible?

I will be getting my INcredible in a week or so, but need to know if there is a way to transfer contacts/calendar sync with my current storm when I get the Incredible.

Download google sync for blackberry.  http://www.google.com/mobile/sync/

  • Outllok contacts/calendar -- iPhone

Sorry if the answer's here and I just can't find it (I've tried, really I have)...
I'm about to take the plunge and buy an iPhone 4. Is there a reasonably easy way of transferring my Win7/Outlook2010 contacts and calendar to it without paying a lot of money for MobileMe?
And then keeping them in sync?

Contact & calendar syncing with Outlook 2010 is supported on the iPhone.

  • Gmail contacts / calendar to the cloud???

OK....Got all my GMAIL contacts and calendar on the iphone.  Now how do I get them to the cloud?

Thanks but that is not what I'm looking for. All I need is contacts/calendar sync so I don't see any point in paying for a software with a lot of features I wont use.
Contacts/Calendar is a iTunes/iPod feature so it should work. Apple has to do something.

  • How to Sync iphone 5 contacts/calendar with Outlook 2007

I used to have an iphone 3gs and upgraded to a 5 recently. Since then I can't sync outlook contacts/calendar like I used to.
All I want to do is sync outlook with the iphone so that I have the same data on my Windows7 PC as on the iPhone. I used to just hit sync in itunes and presto it would sync both ways. i.e new phone entries would be copied to outlook and new outlook enteries copied to the iphone.
Now in itunes "info". I  only see an option that sync's to the cloud only. I don't want to sync to the cloud because the old way was better for me.
Besides the cloud doesn't seem to work. The phone information gets uploaded to the cloud but the outlook information doesn't get updated? When I open up the cloud in Win7 using icloud I can see all the contacts on my phone but how do I get them to sync with Outlook and vice versa?
I've read so much information on the subject I'm blue in the face but have not found a solution.
Your help would be appreciated, Thank You.

If you have [accidentally] enabled iCloud sync on your iPhone, note that you first need to turn that off in order to be able to sync again via iTunes instead. iCloud sync and iTunes sync when it comes to contacts and calendars, are cannot be run simultaneously. Settings > iCloud > toggle the switches to OFF
You can alternatively read this for another offline method of syncing iphone contacts to outlook without needing to switch off your iCloud sync in first place.
