Contact can only send iMessage to my email, not my phone number
Since Apple released iMessage my friend and I have been iMessaging. As of yesterday, I can still send my friend iMessages as usual, but she can only send iMessages to my email (I have "Receive at" set to my phone number and email, Caller ID set to my phone number). If she tries to send an iMessage to my phone number, as she did before, it will only send as a Text. All of my other iPhone contacts can still send iMessages to my phone number. We've each tried rebooting and switching iMessage on and off (we both have iPhone 4, IOS 5.1.1) without any luck. I realise that iMessage is still technically working with her sending to my email, but we just don't understand why sending to my phone number has suddenly stopped working. Grateful for any suggestions.
It sounds like something has changed on her end...
Is she sure she has iMessage turned On? Because that scenario usually occurs when you get an email text from a regular cell phone, i.e. iMessage may be Off on their end.

Message thread with mixed iMessage and SMS participants, but I can only send iMessages
So I have a long running thread with a group of friends, some of us use iPhones and others do not. My phone used to understand this and would automatically just send SMS messages in the thread. However, now my phone will not do anything but send iMessages in the thread. It still automatically sends an SMS if I send a text to someone who doesn't use iMessage if its not in the thread. I have tried everything to get it to recognize that it needs to send SMS in this thread, but the only solution I have found so far is to completely turn off iMessage.
I had an iPhone 5 and updated to a 6 and everything was still working fine. This issue started immediately after I set up text message forwarding to my macbook and iPad. I would prefer not to delete the thread itself and start a new one with the same people but it seems that may be the only option i have left.If you have Send as SMS enabled on your phone, your next step is to contact your cellular carrier to troubleshoot with them.

IMessage sending My ID as email instead of phone number
I've been texting someone through Imeessage, and for a while, when they received my messages, it would show my phone number. Now, my ID comes up as my email address. I tried going onto the message settings, and tried selecting my phone number on the "Send & Receive" option. I tried removing the email, but it won't allow me to remove the email. Any ideas what is going on and how to fix it.

It will not allow to select my mobile number to send an revive message only lets me select the email
Go to Settings/Messages and log out. Do the same for Settings/FaceTime. Then go here: https://selfsolve.apple.com/deregister-imessage and deregister the old number. Finally, log back in to Settings/Messages and FaceTime.

I want my number, not my email to show up to the recpiant. How do I change it?
In regards to iMessage - Settings > Messages > Receive At > Caller ID.
What is selected for Caller ID?
This has nothing to do with regular SMS/MMS. -
Is there a way I can get send iMessages from my Macbook Pro?
I just got My first Macbook Pro and am still trying to figure out how to use it. I have seen that m friend can send and recieve his text messages on his Macbook Pro and I cant figure out how to get that. When I tried using messages it send it from my email not my phone number.
First you need to determine what laptop model you have; then we can help you. A Mac Book Pro cannot run OS 9.1.
With your Mac booted up, click on the at the far left of the menu. Then click on About This Mac. It will show what version of OS you are running. What is the version?
A MBP will be running something like version 10.x.
If you are running version OS 9.x, you don't have a Mac Book Pro.

Send and Recieve in iMessage only shows my Apple ID and not my phone number and I can't send nor receive messages from any other phones except iPhones. How do I get my phone number to show up so that I can send and receive SMS text messages and not just iPhone iMessage texts between only other iPhones?
Where is the Start new conversations from??? When I go to Send & Receive, there is no where to add or set to receive at my phone number. There is only a setting to Add Another Email and my Apple Id is already there. No place or way to add a phone number to receive at. I also have a lasting Waiting for activation... under iMessage ON but no place for my phone number although it shows up as My number under Phone.

IPhone only send iMessage using email address
help please!!!
Greetings ,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that your iPhone is only sending iMessages from your email address and not your phone number. There could be a couple of different factors causing this situation.
First I would suggest checking to see if you phone number is listed on your iPhone under Settings > Messages > Send & Receive. If it is not, please follow the attached instructions.
Update to the latest version of iOS.
Verify that you're using the same Apple ID that you're using on your iPhone.
On your iPad or iPod touch, sign out of your Apple ID in the following locations:
Settings > Messages > Send & Receive. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
Settings > FaceTime. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
Sign in to your Apple ID with FaceTime and iMessage.
If your phone number still isn't listed, follow these steps:
Sign out of your Apple ID on all iOS devices, including your iPhone, in the following locations:Sign in to your Apple ID on your iPhone.
Settings > Messages > Send & Receive. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
Settings > FaceTime. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
Sign in to your Apple ID on your iPhone.
When activation is complete, your Apple ID and all verified email addresses should be visible in Settings > Messages > Receive At and Settings > FaceTime.
Sign in to your Apple ID on your other iOS devices.
If the phone number is there but still not sending, make sure that your phone number is checked marked to Start New Conversations From.

Can you send iMessages from one iPad to another? If so how can I do this? Thanks
I have just got a new iPad and I'm wondering if you can send iMessages from one iPad to another? We are currently trying this out and can only send iMessages from an iPad to an iPhone is this correct? Thanks
You can use the Messages app to send messages to any iOS device or to a Mac running Mountain Lion. So yes you can send a message to another iPad.
Both iPads have to have Messages set up and you need to contact the other iPad using an email addresses as the "you can be reached at" email address.
Do you have it set up correctly on both iPads?
