Contact duplicate

Hello, I have all my contact duplicate 5 or 6 times... I don't want to sync anymore and even connect my q10 to my computer... How can I erase all those duplicate?
There is no option to select all contact and erase them all at the same time...basic command. I can even think to erase one by one...7.000 contacts
I might think it may come through my gmail account???.

TS4147 merging contact duplicates in address books

I tried merging contact duplicates in my address book thorugh the card- look for duplicates option but it does not seem to recognize any, althoug almost all my contacts are duplicates. Any other suggestions??

That command finds duplicates if they are in the Same account, it sounds like you have more than one account, my guess is that you have 2, iCloud and On My Mac, check.

Contact duplicates

I have double contacts in my address book. One under the title 'On My Mac' and the other under 'iCloud'. The same problem exists with the address groups. Can somebody help please?

Recently my phone was repaired at  service center and I had taken a total back-up on desktop
When I got my phone with new os ver . I restored the data . Which was successful
Now the problem is that when I start setting of google sync thru my email set up duplicates appear of all contact entries
I have gone and deleted these thru contact --> options --> rest and deleted the contact list. But when I enable sync then again 2 lists appear n the entries of contacts duplicate.....

How do I stop Address Book & iPad Contacts duplicates? Very annoying. iCloud still not ready for prime time?

Your phone is setup from default with iMessage turned on. Your friends phone obviously isn't. I have a friend that has an iPhone 3G[S] with an old phone plan that didn't require a data package and he's just been swapping the sim card for 5 years. When he's at home, his phone is on wifi and it sends over iMessage. When he's at work on 3G the phone defaults back to text message because he doesn't have a data plan to send iMessage over. The phone isn't actually sending 2 messages. You send in iMessage and if the other phone is off of iMessage, it will resend to that phone as a green text message. That person never got the blue iMessage you tried to send because their iMessage wasn't working.

Contact Duplicates Keep Reappearing.

I synced my iPhone with my Yahoo Contact list. I painstakingly deleted and modified all numbers/contacts on my iPhone. I went to re-sync with Yahoo to delete/modify. When I synced, I encountered duplicates on my iPhone. I thought I had read that the newer updates take. Did I do something wrong?

Contacts duplicate, crash, and wonky phone behavior

I have some exciting problems.
Problem 1: My contacts list duplicated a number of my contacts, such that (example) Joe Smith appears multiple times under "S", once or twice under "R", maybe once or twice under "T", once under "M", etc. Not all contacts are duplicated, just several. I cannot delete the duplicates.
Problem 2: The same time the duplication happened, the contacts list started crashing whenever I scrolled past a certain point alphabetically (usually around M or N). Mail will also crash if, when writing a new email, I try to go to my contacts list to add an email address, or if the first letter I type into the "to" field could be linked to an address from someone below letters M or N in the contacts list.
Problem 3: The same time 1 and 2 popped up, it also started doing this thing where if I dial a phone number from the keypad, the "phone" screen doesn't stay up once the call starts; instead, it goes back to the "home" screen with the green "touch to return to call" bar is up. In this mode, touching the green bar does nothing, and if the person I've called doesn't answer, I am unable to end the call myself -- no "end call" button. I have to power off the phone.
Cool, huh?
Things I have tried:

-- "Erase all settings and data", then restored my contacts
-- I've gotten a new handset, due to an unrelated issue that came up before this with the 1.1.1 update.
-- I've gotten a new SIM card, on the advice of the Apple Store Genius who said he had no idea why my phone was doing what it was doing. Calls to Apple Support have suggested similar things.
Anyone else have any advice? This is really frustrating.

Is the computer running Mac OS 10.4.11 and iTunes 7.5?
Click the Apple in the top left corner of the screen and then Software Update.
Are the contacts duplicated on the computer?
Have you installed any syncing software on the computer? anything used to sync a PDA or pocket PC?
If you have try uninstalling or updating it.
Try Resetting the Sync History from the iSync Preferences and then sync the iPhone again.

ICal and contact duplicates in my iPhone and MacBook

Hi,
I have seen other discussions related to this subject but I can't seem to fix it. I have duplicates in my iPhone and MacBook of both iCal events and contacts. I am probably doing something wrong because if I add an event on my MacBook it will appear (fast enough!) in my iPhone, but it will not work the other way. Same thing with contacts. It is a bit of a nightmare and I would like to be able to have things once and automatically synced... if possible, of course, but I assumed this is what iCloud was about.
Can anyone with this stuff under control give me a hand?

Your iPhone can take a screen-capture by holding down the bottom 'HOME' button
for 2-3 seconds, and then depressing the top 'RESET' button momentarily while
continuing to hold down 'HOME'. You will see a simulated white 'flash' on the iPhone
screen, and the screen capture will appear as a photo in your latest Camera Roll.

Outlook 07 synch to Palm Treo 650 Sync Conduit produces Contacts DUPLICATES in Outlook... Help!

I downloaded the Sync Conduit from Palm, ran a synch from Treo 650 to Outlook 2007 (Vista 32) and it created duplicates for most of my CONTACTS in Outlook 07, not all but most, wierd.
Treo 650 (Cingular) - ( Palm Desktop 6.2 ) - Outlook 2007 (Office 2007) - PC Dual Core Vista Home Premium
Can anyone help get Palm Conduit Sync to not create dups? I deleted all and tried it twice. There are no duplicates in the Treo or Desktop, never had a problem syncing to Palm Desktop, only to Outlook (I am converting from Windows Mail to Outlook)

Te hotsync manager does not create duplicates.
You will need to clean up the contacts database in Outlook, hard reset your Treo, set the hotsync conduits to desktop overwrites handheld and then sync.

There is a 3rd party app. that will remove duplicates in Outlook.

One thing you may not be aware of is that Palm desktop 6.2 has the Outlook 2007 conduits already installed, you do not need to install the Outlook 2007 conduit update.
You may want to remove the 2007 conduit update using control panel.

Calendar and contact DUPLICATES

I use Mobile me on my I phone for both calendar and contacts but why when I go into groups it shows duplicated of both my contacts and calendar events, when i update my contact on mobile me it doesnt update it on the "My Iphone group" I dont want duplicate of my contacts and calendar...I only want one....how can i change this....i tried on settings on my Iphone, or do i need to do it on my I Tunes when i sync it?

Sorry, but I'm a little lost by your response, so I'll ask again.
Do you have Sync Contacts with the Outlook address book selected under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes in addition to syncing contacts over the air on your iPhone with your Gmail account that is being accessed as an Exchange account on your iPhone?
If yes to both, doing both is not required and will duplicate the contacts on your iPhone.

Where are Contacts' duplicates stored?

Whenever I do a Spotlight search for a Contact and then open the found contact from Spotlight, Contacts reports there is a duplicate. It will show it to me if I select show old and show new.
However, I can't find that duplicate in Contacts if I launch it separately.
How can I find these duplicate contacts or purge them or do something to clense the Spotlight Contacts file?

I continue to have this problem when doing a Spotlight search for a contact.
I will find the contact, select it in Spotlight, and then Contacts will open with a report of Duplicates and thus not take me to the selected Contact.
However, if I stop there and do a search with Contacts for Duplicates, none are found.
There must be other copies of these Contacts hiding somewhere on my hard drive. I can hover over the different finds in Spotlight and there are in fact different versions of the Contact but no Duplicate when I run Find Duplicates in Contacts.
Any help appreciated.

Many many many contact duplicates

I've had a severe problem with Apple creating many, many duplicates (734 to be exact) of a single contact on my iPhone. Other people are having this problem as well. Although my computer Address Book only listed the contact once, my iPhone had a ridiculous amount. iCloud syncing didn't work, iTunes synicing didn't work. My husband was able to fix this problem and here's what he did.
BEFORE you do anything though, make sure all your contacts are on the computer in your Address Book or else they'll all get erased.
On your iPhone & your Apple computer uncheck the "Sync with iCloud" for contacts only (selecting the "remove/delete from phone" when it asks what you want to do after un-syncing).
Go into your computer address book and delete the one(s) that's repeating.
Use a web browser and log into iCloud and delete all the repeating ones (delete every one of the duplicates, don't even leave one of them or it will start creating many, many multiples).
Wait a moment and make sure the contacts don't magically start reappearing again (if they do, then good luck!)
Check and make sure you have no synced contacts on your phone.
Go back to both your phone and your computer and resync with iCloud (now the contacts you saved on your computer will go onto your phone).
Then you *should* be able to add the one contact that was the crazy repeater.
I hope this works for any of you that have had this problem, and hopefully your contacts don't get erased either! Good luck!

If you are syncing contacts with iCloud you should not be trying to sync contacts with iTunes too, if that's what you're doing. This may help you resolve your problem with duplicates: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4147.

Check in the Contacts app to see if they are all in iCloud or through various other syncing services. If you see that they are on your iPad and on iCloud, then turn off Contacts in Settings > iCloud. If they are all on iCloud, then you will need to delete them one at a time.

ICloud Contacts duplicates first name

I list my family and close friends by their first names only in my Contacts, leaving the surname field blank.
Contacts has now started to duplicate their first names into the surname field, so that my wife's entry reads "Fiona Fiona" and my daughter's entry is "Sophie Sophie".
No matter how many times I change the entry, either on my iPhone or on my Air, the first name keeps appearing in the surname field too.
Is Contacts unable to deal with entries containing only a first name?
Has anyone else experienced this?

I fixed my problem with it. I went to my Mac and it was in the Mail app.
Open Mail
From the menu bar select Window
Select Previous Recipients
I found the culprit in there. I don't know how the name got to be the way it was in the first place but I took it out of there and it fixed it. It stopped messing up my contacts.

In Address Book I have set up a number of "groups". Some contacts are in more than one group. When I send an email out by adding more than one group to my email, how can you ensure that contacts aren't going to get the email twice because they were in two different groups?
