General Outlook synchronisation question...
I was used to working with the Siemens CX75 so I can only speak of how it was done there.
In general I'm missing the following functionality. Which fields in Outlook contact objects are mapped to which Nokia phone fields.
Some contacts are personal, business, friends, VIP, customers etc... It is very nice to have some personalized ringing tone when somebody who belongs to a certain group calls. In the past with my Siemens phone I had the possibility to map the Outlook COMPANY field to a GROUP field in my phone. If I filled out OFFICE in the company field of my Outlook contacts, my phone records could immediately map that contact to the GROUP OFFICE with all personalized group settings applied.
How can I do this with my Nokia phone? It can't be that I have to adapt this in my phone each time I add a new contact to my Outlook contact folder... there has to exist some automated way?
If somebody knows a direct or indirect automatic way to map an Outlook Contact item to a Nokia phone GROUP id it would be a great help.

They also sometimes appear with a dash or minus sign infront of them.

  • Contact fields mapping

I am working with an Imagio that is connected to an Exchange Server for email
When the contacts are listed, the persons name is blank, but it shows that there is a contact
If I drill into the contact information, it shows all the pertinent information, name, address, email address etc.
But the listing does not show the name, only a blank entry it looks like.
I spoke with Verizon tech support and they seemed to think it was a mapping issue.
However, there are some of the entries that are in his local Outlook contact listing that ARE showing up.
I'm not sure why some show up correctly and some don't.
Any ideas on how to resolve the mapping of the fields coming from Exchange?
    Any ideas are welcome!
    Thanks

  • No contacts showing in PCSuite for Nokia 6230i

    Hi
I have a Nokia 6230i and I downloaded the specific version of PC Suite from the Nokia website in order to back up my phone. When I back it up, everything seems ok, but when I open the contacts folder there are no contacts visible.
It backs up my text messges, gallery, tc, but not my contacts..even though the view log says it has..
If I go into the phone Contacts menu, it confirms that the memory in use is the phone memory.
What I am doing wrong ??

Does your phone's SIM card include any contact?
And open that backup file e.g. notepad and try to find there your contacts -> can you find those??
Also check this PC folder: C:\Documents and Settings\"username"\Phone Browser\Nokia 6230i\Contacts\
-> can you find there any vcf file ?

  • Where is the Nickname contact field stored in Outl...

On the N80 you can add a nickname field to a contact which is used by the voice control system instead of the full name.
If i syncronise then view all the contact fields in Outlook, I can't find a nickname field.
    Where is it stored?
The same applies to the contact group info.
My reason for asking is it would be much easier to edit this info on a pc.

  • Pictures from Nokia 6230i

I have only owned this phone for a few days but am delighted with it apart from the fact that I cannot download any photos. I had no trouble with a previous Nokia but with this one I either get an Error message or a refer to Microsoft message.
Can anyone help please? I think I have follwed the istructions correctly, but must have done something wrong somewhere.

No joy I'm afraid. All I can think of is give you a description of what I do and what happens.
    1. Connect phone. "Use as storqge device?" "no" (as in the manual). "Data enhancement connected " appears.
2 Just over task bar "Nokia 6230i connected by USB"
    3. Go to Settings/Connectivity/"use USB"
    4. Click on File manager. Error message "The operation could not be completed". Click OK and screen shows desktop folders with two Nokia browser icons, one for new contacts and the other asking for a Microsoft report.
    6. Try Store Images. Correct phone shown as is connection by DKU-2. Screen shows "Getting info about images and videos" - and there it stops for as long as I care to leave it.
So there we are. I have a new phone, the latest Nokia software and the correct cable, but it doesn't work.
The only thought that comes to my mind is that the software download may have been corrupted by one of my anti-malware programmes - ZoneAlarm, AVG, PestPatrol and Ewido are the main ones. Would switching any or all off and then reinstalling be of any help?
I am grateful for your patience and hope for a solution soon!

You need settings for MMs and GPRS sending to your phone. Check out here http://www.nokia.co.uk/A4222200 , you may be able to send them from Nokia website. Failing that if you contact your network provider they will be able to send you the settings

  • ActiveSync Outlook to iPhone contacts field mappings

With the iPhone 2.0 release, is the mapping of the contact fields between Outlook and iPhone when using over-the-air ActiveSync published anywhere?
It feels to me that the mappings are different for over-the-air ActiveSync versus in the old way of syncing via iTunes.
For example, I can not find any "Other Phone" field any longer on the iPhone. The iPhone 1.x releases had this field.

Here is what we have found through testing. The following lists the names displayed in Outlook 2007 and the corresponding name on the iPhone running 2.0.1. We did not find that any fields from Outoll overwrote any other field on the iPhone, even though the field might have a duplicate name, like "work" and "home". In the case of the Home and Home 2 numbers in Outlook, we ended up with two (2) "home" entries on the iPhone. If there is only a "-" under iPhone it is because it did not sync:

    Business 2 work

  • Usb cable for nokia 6230i

Why does the cable DKU-2 not work with my Nokia 6230i

    @vinceb56
    Welcome to the forum!
Firstly, is it a genuine Nokia DKU-2 cable or clone?
Secondly, PopPort connector at base of device is notorious for failing; it may be worth trying cleaning "gold" contacts with a pencil eraser.

  • Nokia 6230i/Bluetooth/NokiaPCSuite/Vista

    Hello.
I'm using NokiaPC Suite (on a Vista computer) since version 6.6 with a bluetooth connection to Nokia 6230i. There were no problems but after the last update 7.1.18 it's impossible to connect PC and Nokia again. Everytime I click on "Connect device" the three choices (Bluetooth, Cable, Infrared) are not enabled and so I can't click on them or on continue. The contact between Nokia and Vista is alright, but I can't use it with NokiaPC Suite.
    Cheers

I have a different bluetooth problem which is really annoying. I cannot connect to my Halfords ProWave car kit. It is a great kit and my other 2 phones worked perfectly. Get in the car it connects to the car radio, get out and you are disconnected.
But when I got the 6230i a few weeks ago when I tried to connect, it did everything, and connected. Then when I got in the car it would not connect and each time I tried it said that it was unable to connect.
I changed the unit in the car, and have since had 2 new phones, and it does the same thing. Once it has been through the process with the car kit, then it is totally screwed up and will not connect to anything. It finds the other phone or computer, but then says "Bluetooth connection failed".
Anyone else had this problem and how do you get anyone to do anything about it?

  • Nokia 6230i - problems with voicemail

on my nokia 6230i it is saying that i have an un-listened to voicemail. It is giving me no signal to phone my voicemail and i am unable to contact it through a landline. Any ideas???

yes, but orange could only tell me that no transformers were down in my area.

  • PC Suite and Nokia 6230i no supported

I cannot down load the contacts folder names from my upgraded Nokia 6230i either by USB bluetooth or through a USB DKU-2 cable. My previous Nokia 6230 shook hands and transferred with ease in either connectivity. In the present set up, PC Suite refuses to download (though it recognises that the phone is connected) and puts up an error message saying the phone does not support the PC Suite software. I have downloaded the latest version of PC Suite, rebooted everything often, and even been give a replacement phone by O2 who thought (wrongly) that it was a 'one-off' error in the original phone. For information, the widows browser allows data, music and photo files to be downloaded but, of course, gives no route into the contacts folder which I seek.

This is exactly the problem I've been having with PC Suite. I'm glad to find out it's the same with a cable connection before I go out and buy one in an attempt to get some connectivity.
It looks like the only option 6230i users have is a re-flash, which I understand is going to blank the data already stored in the phone. Nice.
This is irritating as hell, because the only reason I stayed with Nokia when it came to upgrading my phone was the 'ease' in moving data from one phone to another. I was offered a Motorola RAZR (which comes with a data cable...) but thought this would be easier.
I guess it shows that the free software supplied by Nokia is worth every penny. Buying a 3rd-party solution seems to be the best answer and will certainly give me better options for my next upgrade.

  • Ovi maps and Nokia Maps

I have recently downloaded the ovi maps update for free navigation on my 5800 however now I seem to have 2 programs in my installed apps menu, Ovi maps and Nokia maps. This is causing me some problems as my phones built in memory is now completely full and I am unable to do some things as I have ran out of on phone memory space. Which one is the main map software? And also can I uninstall one? If not then can it be installed on a MSD card and if yes how?

As far as I can determine Ovi maps is the mapping software (program) which installs to C (phone memory) and Nokia maps is the map data that you have loaded which I believe are installed to E (mass memory).
I can confirm that you do need both installed.
The problem as far as I can see is that the previous maps versions 3.01 is built into the current firmware (v20 for N97 - not sure for 5800) and installing maps 3.03 does not remove or overwrite the earlier version so you end up with both versions installed and thus the extra memory footprint.
This will remain a problem until a newer firmware is released which will hopefully have maps 3.03 (or later depending when next firmware is released) thus reducing the extra 9 megs or so used.
    Hope this answers your question
