Contact for Ipod Battery Replacement (UK)

I sent my ipod to get a new battery over a month ago and when I check online all it says is 'unit received'. I've emailed them twice but get an automated 'we are busier than usual and will reply to you asap' email and still haven't heard back from them. The contact number in the book that you receive is not a valid phone number 0870 0876 0753.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get in contact with them, thanks.

I have a dilemma.
I bought my iPod from a well known highstreet chain with a 3 year coverplan. It is about 11 months old.
They have said that they will replace it but will just swap it for the new 5G model.
Ordinarily this would suit me fine, however I have no USB2 so therefore it won't work with my Firewire eMac. I need an iPod photo as a replacement.
I spoke to Apple who confirmed it is covered as in warranty and that they would replace it for free. (BTW out of warranty would cost £40 + £29 postage)
If I send it to Apple I think it would invalidate my Coverplan and if anything else goes wrong during that time I wouldn't be covered.
What to do!?!

  • How do i get a shipping box for out-of-warranty ipod battery replacement?

i have signed up online to have my ipod battery replaced. the pod is out of warranty. the email reply only tells me to pack it well because apple won't deal with it if it is damaged in shipment. the only instructions i have found in my search at the apple site seem to deal with apple automatically sending the shipping package for in-warranty pods.
    can anyone help?
    thank you in advance,

Usually, it takes about a week from the moment you
request the box till you have the iPod back.
gee, apple acknowledged my request for a replacement on 0905, but i don't have a box yet.
i called my apple store, and they also said that apple would send me a box.
i just noticed that you said "from the moment you request the box." how do i request a box? i have only "ordered" the replacement battery -- apple terms it an "apple product replacement request."
i guess i am impatient, but i'm beginning to feel that i am in the middle of a kafka novel.
chris, can you think of anything else?
    thanks.

  • IPod Battery Replacement Service Chan

As of 7.8.05, Apple changed its iPod battery replacement service charge from $99 to $59.
Darn.....now i feel some regret from getting a Zen Micro, seeing as how the only reason i bought it was cuz its battery was only $40.

There is also a company named iPodResQ that for $64 will cover the cost of overnight shipping of your iPod, replacement of the battery and then overnight shipping back to you. This is well worth it. Having just bought an iPod one month ago, I don't plan on this service for at least two years or better. With this service you get your original back. If you opt to send it to Apple, they do NOT necessarily send you the same unit back.

  • Suggestions for new battery replacement for 1st gen Ipod?

    Hello all,
I recently acquired my brother's 1st gen Ipod mini. I love the thing. As with others, I think I'm having troubles with battery life. I have played songs on it for around 2 hours today. At 1.5 hours of playtime, the battery life indicator was nearly empty (NOTE: I have read this article: http://www.vsa.cape.com/~danh/ipod.htm and I understand the "lying" battery life indicator). A half hour after this, the unit shut itself off: the battery's charge had been depleted.
I have been looking at ebay and there is one company selling a battery for under 10 dollars with shipping. They seem to be fairly reputable, claiming to be a top supplier of Ipod products and that the batteries it sells are superior to the ones that originally came with the 1st gen mini Ipods. They claim the batteries they are selling are " Internal Li-Polymer Apple Mini iPod Battery
    - 600 mAh (High Capacity)
    - 3.7 V "
I have ALSO seen a replacement battery for the Ipod mini claiming the following:
    " Voltage: 3.7V 550mAh "
    Yet another claims:
...our battery which is made and tested to the highest international standard gives you a capacity of 650 mAh which is 50% more than the original Apple battery. The original Apple iPod part number is EC003. This is a brand new high-quality generic (non-OEM) battery."
My question is has anyone replaced the battery on their 1st gen mini Ipod? What voltage and mAh readings should I get for the battery I buy?
    -Phillip

Anyone correct me if i'm wrong here but AFAIK:
Ok, the main thing to look for is the 3.7v rating. the mAh refers to milli-Amp hours, i.e. the amount of charge the battery can hold, not the current it outputs.
As long as it's 3.7v, it's cool. And the bigger the mAh, the better.
    Good luck in your replacement.

  • Won't charge after ipod battery replacement

    Hi,
I hope you can help me.
Battery replacements for iPod generation 1 (5 GB) and iPod Photo generation 4(?) (60 GB) did not work:
I bought replacement batteries from OWC (MacSales.com). Below is the invoice data from OWC for theses batteries. Since the swapping didn't work the first time, they sent me new batteries for free, but to no avail.
    NWTBIPOD1350MPH
Apple iPod Photo 1350mAh High-Cap Battery
    S/N: 5818602, replacement for S/N: 5554860
    NWTBIPOD2200M12
    Apple iPod 1G/2G 2200mAh High-Cap Battery
    S/N: 3761061, replacement for S/N: 3761112
Neither the iPod Photo nor the iPod 1G would work after installing new batteries. The batteries were replaced by OWC, but even a new install with the new replacement batteries did not work. Both iPods worked fine after each installment with the batteries as long as there were some power left in the new batteries. As I recall, that would be about 2 hours. After the first complete charge of the batteries, the iPods seemed to work as expected, but after the second charge they both appeared completely dead. The charging was done with the chargers that came with the iPods. This is very odd, and it is hard to tell what the problem may be. I find it strange that this happens to both the 1. and 4. generation of iPods, as they are quite different, and so are the batteries, and the same thing happened after trying to swap batteries twice on both units.
Do you have any ideas as to what it may be that causes this?
If you know how I can get the iPods to work with the new batteries I would appreciate it. It is no option to buy new iPods. Economy doesn't permit it for the moment.
    Best regards from
    Guttorm Kittelsen
PS. The iPod 1 (5Gb) was bought at Office Line Mac & Carry (now Humac) in Oslo
The iPod Photo 4 G (60Gb) was bought at the Apple store. (not the App Store)

    - See:
    iPod touch: Hardware troubleshooting
    - Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use.
    - Try another charging source
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. I suspect a hardware problem  due to the hotness. If iTunes can't see the iPod then uor only hope if to contact a data recovery company for getting data off the iPod. If you have an iPod backup you can restore another iPod, iPhone or iPad from the backup to get the data that was in the backup

  • Apple iPod Battery Replacement Program Experiences.

Hello, as you all know apple offers the battery replacement program for 99 dollars (now sixty something dollars). For any of you that have tried it, can you please tell us all a little about how was your experience? did you get a better ipod or a worse one? a refurbished, used or new? scratched or perfect?
please leave a comment on how your experience was with Apple's battery replacement program even if it is a very small one.

I just received my refurbished iPod back yesterday. It looked like new! The engraving was on the back, just like the unit I sent in.
However, the reason I am on the forums today is that when I plugged it in to charge the new battery before synching, I received the familiar "battery with exclamation point" screen. So now I seem to have a clean, new or refurbished unit with the same old problem. Frustrating to say the least.

  • Ipod battery replacement

I have a 1st gen 2Gb nano and the battery is well under the 50% and I would like to participate in the battery replacement program. If I take it in to my local store will they give me a 2nd or 3rd generation nano, or would they be able to find a 1st gen.

They won't replace it with a newer model that's for sure.
They'll likely send it away and you'll get another iPod of the same model.
You can do that on-line. Is it out of warranty?

  • IPod Battery Replacement Program

    Hi Everyone,
My green iPod mini is now in need of a new battery. I read over the Battery Replacement FAQ, but I'm not sure how the condition of the iPod mini I recieve will be. So I guess I have a few questions.
Has anyone participated in this program that has had success getting a good iPod back?
What do they do with my old iPod?
Do they test it when they get it to see if it needs a new battery?
What do they send with the iPod? Or is it just the iPod itself?
    Thanks,
    Brian

Personally, I wouldn't recommend sending it to Apple for an out of warranty battery replacement.
You can get a new battery and do it yourself for ~$20.
    Go to www.ipodjuice.com.
There are other places also. Google "iPod battery".
What do they do with my old iPod?
They repair it and use it as a replacement.
Do they test it when they get it to see if it needs a new battery?
    Yes.
What do they send with the iPod? Or is it just the iPod itself?
    Just the iPod.
They charge $$59, plus $6.95 shipping.
If the battery is good or the iPod is bad, they will return your iPod, refund the $59 and keep the shipping.

  • Ipod battery replacement worries

I am having my old battery replaced at an apple store. What are the chances that I will lose my songs??? Appreciate a reply!!! Thank you. Jeff

Are the really replacing the battery in your iPod?
The usually replace your iPod with a refurbished one.
    This
Apple - Support - Service Answer Center
    says
Will the data on my iPod be preserved?
No, you will receive a replacement iPod that will not contain any of your data and songs. Before obtaining service, it is important to back up your data. Apple is not responsible for the loss of information while servicing your iPod and does not offer any data transfer service.
In any event I would backup the iPod and all media on the iPod

  • DIY iPod Battery Replacement on G3

I've had my G3 iPod for a few years now and shockingly the hard drive still works perfectly. But, the battery on the other hand, holds less charge than a candle. I bought a very cheap battery replacement kit online, but the tools included are so cheap they don't do a **** thing. How the **** do I open the iPod? Is there a good guide on the internet? I've seen a couple but they really don't go into any detail with photos and what not about how to really get the iPod opened up.

    see if these help

  • Is iPad 1 eligible for the battery replacement program?

Our Pad 1 battery is dead. Apple offers battery replacement for $99. Do they replace with refurbished iPad1 or newer iPad?

All iPad models means all iPad models..... I copied the text below from this website.
    https://www.apple.com/support/ipad/repair/battery-power/
Your Apple One Year Limited Warranty includes replacement coverage for a defective battery, and there is no charge if your iPad is covered under warranty or an AppleCare product. You can check your coverage by entering your iPad serial number.
    Out-of-warranty battery service cost:
    All iPad models: $99
Plus a $6.95 shipping fee. Fees are in USD and exclude local tax.

  • My battery is screwed. May I be eligible for a battery replacement?

    Hi everyone.
My brother brought me from the U.S. a MCP 15" dated mid 2007. The battery is completely screwed up. I can't get it to stabilize calibrating it (sometimes max charge is 2800, sometimes 1800) and the computer keeps on shutting down without warning. I read there have been some problems with MCP batteries. Do you think I might be able to have it replaced, or maybe have a discount on the new battery?
    Bye

I hope you are luckier than me.
I'm from Italy, I have a Macbook Pro I bought in February 2007, and since a month ago I had exactly the same problem you describe in your post.
I called the Italian Apple customer support number and after the PRAM reset attempt, and based on my MBP serial number, they decided I was not eligible for a free replacement of my battery. I could not get them explain why, since all symptoms were the same as required in the Apple Support web page.
I ended up buying the replacement battery, after a second attempt in an official Apple Care support shop in Milan, were they confirmed I was not eligible for a free replacement, but were not able to explain why...
So probably Apple sets additional requirements not described in the Apple web page for a free replacement (Apple Care Plan required ? - purchasing date ? - Macbook Pro serial number ?).
    Piero
