Contact "GROUPS" won't sync via MobileMe "over the air"

I am having a problem. I just bought an iPod Touch (the latest model). I have upgrade to the latest iOS version. When I use MobileMe over the air syncing to sync my Address Book contacts, I don't get my groups. When I choose "Groups" it's empty and I can't get back to "all contacts." It does sync all my contacts though.
However, when I turn off the MobileMe sync, and sync it manually, by checking "Sync Address Book Contacts" in iTunes, I get my groups back. I have an iPhone 4, and this isn't issue present. Maybe it's an iPod issue?
I only see groups if I "check" sync. Any ideas? Again, iPhone 4 works fine.
Bryan

Who knows what the problem was... I removed groups in Address Book, MobileMe had different ones, iPod different ones, etc... MobileMe needs some work. After an hour, I had to delete the groups then recreate them, then everything seemed to work fine.

    Hi,
I have and iPad and iPhone running os5.
I have an iCloud and Gmail Mail (imap) Mail accounts.
Looking at the sync options (info)  in iTunes show that for my iPad,
contacts and calendars are being synced:with a Microsoft
    Exchange account over the air!
I don't have Sync Address Book or Sync iCal Calendars checked.
This message does not appear with the iPhone.
At one time I did have an exchange account but that was

  • How to install an STK applet on SIM via OTA (over the air)?

    Dear All,
What I am trying to do is to load and install an applet by sending (over the air) the same sequence of direct GP apdu commands wrapped in envelope commands.
The sequence of direct sequence involves selecting the issuer security domain, initialize update and external authentication before load and install. However, 03.48 does not specify these security management steps. Does this mean that load and install commands can be sent without prior authentication?

I looked at the GP spec 2.1.1 amendment A, but it's mentioned that this pseudo random is being used for EXPLICIT secure channel not implicitYou are correct that it was for an explicit secure channel. This is useful if the security level of C-MAC only do not meet your requirements. I have mentioned two separate ways of getting a secure channel without needing a response from the card to calculate the cryptograms.
    Cheers,

  • Sync from phone (over-the-air NOT PC/Ovi Suite) - ...

Everytime I initiate the Sync command from my phone (N86 8MP 21.006) it comes to the part where it says "Sending..." and then freezes somewhere in the middle of that with a Connection Error!
ALSO... after a few failed attempts, APPARENTLY it DID Sync something!! HOWEVER........... I only have 823 Contacts on my phone.. on the Ovi.com website (when I log in with my account) it says I now have 831 Contacts!! I am utterly terrified to Sync again and mix up my Contacts with old ones that I had deleted or something ;-S
    Any help would be appreciated..Thanx
    Mido

Normally I would advice to just sync with using the Ovi Suite, but I suggest you go over the settings for sync on the Ovi Site.

  • Birthdays again/Exchange sync over-the-air

    Hi all,
I have a problem while I sync my contacts with Exchange 2007 over-the-air. Some contacts on iPhone have incorrect birthdays (they appear off by one day). The solution described here http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2456 doesn't work for me because I have no ability to reset sync history when I use over-the-air sync.
If I try to sync my contacts with iTunes (over-the-air sync turned off in iPhone settings), everything is ok - birthdays have correct dates.
Is there solution to get in iPhone contacts with correct birthdays when sync with Exchange over-the-air?
    Thanks!

Roy, no, I have no indication that Notes are being sync'd over the air, by Mobile Me. That is why I made that comment, that Apple needs to clean up the Notes sync interface so that it is consistent with the other MobileMe sync aware apps. To me It appears that the Notes sync was just added in, so my guess is iOS 4.0.1 will clear that up a bit.
Are you sure you have Push turned on? Without that, OTA syncing will not occur. Also check in your Mac's System Preferences under the Mobile Me pane to make sure Notes are being sync'd. Not sure that affects the iPhone, but it affects the syncing in the cloud, so that could be an issue too.
I can suggest one other thing to try.
That is to do a hard reset of your iPhone (home button/and power button) This will clear your caches. Don't know if it dumps the Notes database, but it may.
Then immediately upon restart, do the Notes replacing procedure that I outlined. The key is to remove the confusion. As I said, once I cleaned up all my Notes and consolidated them in one place, then reset them all on the iPhone, everything worked as expected.
I am a heavy Notes user, and use them extensively on the road on the iPhone and in my office on my Mac and at home on my MBPro and another iMac, so I expect them to be all the same and always updated. This procedure worked for me.

  • Do you need to sync the iPhone through iTunes if you sync over the air?

Do you need to sync the iPhone through iTunes if you sync over the air?
My MacBook Pro and iPhone 3G with OS 4 synchronize with each other over the air through my Snow Leopard Server. Though when I connect it to iTunes I see that it allows me to checked "Synchronize with this computer" type options and I'm confused as to why that would be if they're synchronizing over the air.
Can someone help clarify when those should be checked? Because I do want everything that's on my computer synchronized with my iPhone and vice versa, but if I add the accounts on my phone manually that seems to work too.

In regards to syncing contacts and calendar events, if you are syncing this data over the air on your iPhone and the contacts and calendar events synced over the air on your iPhone match the Address Book and iCal data on your Mac, there is no reason to sync this data direct with the Address Book and iCal on your Mac via the iTunes sync process.

  • Contacts and Caendar won't sync - how to turn off "over the air" syncing?

I have an 2nd gen 8GB Touch, a Macbook and use iTunes 8.0.1. I do not have Wi-Fi at home. I also have a dot-Mac (or Mobile Me, I guess) account.
When I first got the Touch, I opted in the iTunes Info section to sync both calendar and contacts, and everything came over fine. However, all of that somehow disappeared, and no amount of re-syncing will help. Now, my Info tab indicates that my contacts and calendars are being synced with my iPod over the air - I do not have the option of checking any boxes there. I have tried every permutation of settings in the iPod, but this doesn't change anything. I also cannot find any helpful help screens anywhere (including on this forum, where I have already searched).
Could someone please advise me how I can regain the checkboxes so my contacts and calendar information syncs when I connect to the Macbook and use iTunes to sync everything else (photos, music and movies all work fine).
    TIA
    BobF

This sounds like a MobileMe problem; or, rather, the solution will be found there. Try this page:

  • Another "my contacts & calendars won't sync" guy

My iPhone was bogged down and doing some strange things so I decided I'd reset it in an attempt to refresh things. After resetting it, my contacts and calendars will not sync over the air with Mobile Me. (Mail and bookmarks are fine)
I can switch them off in Mobile Me on the phone and they'll sync fine over the cable, but of course they won't update until the next cable sync.
I've tried deleting the Mobile Me account from the phone and building it again but this did not fix anything.
I've scoured many posts in this forum and found several people suffering a similar type of problem but no one has the definitive fix.
    Any more ideas?

Since you've already performed the most drastic step in this article http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1672
    10. Delete the account from your iPhone or iPod touch. From the home screen, tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, and Calendars, and then tap your MobileMe account. Tap Delete Account. On the Mail, Contacts, and Calendars screen, tap Add Account > MobileMe, and set up your account again.

  • Your contacts are being synced with your iPad over the air from iCloud

tl;dr: iPhone works properly with iTunes 11.1 and iPad does not. Can't sync with both iTunes and iCloud to separate, distinct Calendar/Contact/Notes groups.
    Explanation:
Ever since iTunes 11 was released (I'm on 11.1 now) I'm unable to sync Contacts, Calendars, and Notes via iTunes because I'm using over the air syncing from iCloud. As late as iTunes 10.7, this was okay, because "On My PC" groups would sync perfectly with iTunes, and iCloud groups would sync perfectly with iCloud.
In fact, this still works, today, but only on my iPhones.
However on the iPad I get the message "Your contacts are being synced with your iPad over the air from iCloud." (Well, yeah, I know that. My iCloud contacts should continue to sync via iCloud. I don't want to turn off this behavior.)
The "workaround" used to be sticking to iTunes 10.7, which had correct behavior for both iPad and iPhone. Of course iOS7 nuked that option.
Is anyone aware of another workaround? (Merging my professional Outlook stuff into my iCloud stuff is not a workaround.)

I can place a bounty. $20 USD to your Paypal account for a fix.

  • Can I manually sync new contacts & calendar items: laptop - over the air?

Sometimes I enter a new contact or calendar item on my laptop and dash out the door hoping it shows up on my phone. Often it's not there. Is there a way to manually push an over-the-air sync between my laptop and iPhone?

Apple recently updated the sync time interval between the Address Book and iCal on your Mac and the MM cloud to be faster than every 15 minutes.
After entering a new contact and/or calendar event in the Address Book and iCal on your Mac, you can select Sync Now.
Go to System Preferences > MobileMe.
Under the Sync tab for your MM sync preferences, select show status in menu bar.
After entering a new contact or calendar event, if you don't want to wait select Sync Now from the sync status in the menu bar. This will manually sync the Address Book and iCal on your Mac with your MM online address book and calendars, which should push the change to your iPhone's address book and calendar.

  • Bookmarks syncing issue - 'over-the-air from MobileMe'

    Hi,
Just bought a new iMac running Mountain Lion so I've now got iCloud capability back. My Safari bookmarks on my iPhone 4 are a mess and I can't delete them or get them to sync properly with the iMac Safari bookmarks.
When I connect my iPhone and look in iTunes>Devices>Info>Other, it says that 'bookmarks are being synced with your iPhone over the air  from MobileMe. Over-the-air sync settings can be changed from your iPhone'. There's no option to change this default and I can't find anything on the iPhone that lets me change over-the-air sync settings. I used to have a MobileMe account but thought that was all dead and buried now.
What do I need to do to make sure the bookmarks are synced from the iMac and the current ones on the iPhone are deleted?
    Thanks,
    Pete

Before doing a whole restore, try adding the account again without the on air syncing turned on, then sync. It may not authenticate if you have cancelled the account but if you continue to tap "Save" it will accept it with a message stating that it may not be able to connect to the server.
After, then sync so that iTunes gets the updated settings.
Nice, thanks, that did the trick.
I had to tap "save" twice (first time, then the alert pops up, dismiss the alert and hit "save" again) and accept to add the account although it could not authenticate. Then I synced and afterwards deleted the account again *on the iPhone*. Syncing again and iTunes now lets me sync contacts and calendars again.
    Thank you!

  • New iPhone 5 syncs contacts to Microsoft Exchange over the air?

Just got a new iPhone 5. It's not syncing my contacts. I've tried everything I can find here. However, there's this one little difference. In iTunes, I'm being told that my contacts are being synced with Microsoft Exchange over the air. ***? I don't have Microsoft anything on my comptuer!
This is a new iPhone 5. I've imported all my contacts from my previous phone which has never been synced with anything. (Syncing didn't exist when I bought the phone.) I've switched all of the contanct information on, and ... nothing. I've tried syncing via iTunes. I've tried sycning via iCloud.
Any new additions I make will sync via icloud (or iTunes), but none of the old contact information will sync to my comptuer. I know it has something to do with the "syncing with Micorsoft Exchange" message, but I have no idea how or why it defaulted to that setting. How do I change it? How do I get my contacts to sync from my phone to my computer?
    Thanks.

    randers4,
Thank you for your reply. Strangely, the offending email account was the account set up at the store (not Apple store) for an iTunes account. I have no idea why they would have turned on the exchange sync in the fisrt place.
I now know how to turn off the exchange sync. However, I'm not given the option of keeping the contacts on my iPhone if I switch it off. It will delete all of my contacts. Is there a way to avoid this? I'm sure I read something in the discussions here, can you point me back in the right direction? The same thing is going to happen wiith my emails. Unfortunately, I have dozens of emails already...
    Again, thanks for your help.
