Contact list is altered and partially deleted
I have recently run into a situation with my daughters phone. Her contacts, all in English, had been translated to Chinese, most of her actual contacts are gone, while many new ones added. The new ones are either in an international format or they are incomplete. Verizon says they can't offer assistance with this. Apple said it was user error...that was difficult to swallow. Since then we have ensure that nothing giving potential access is active. Blue tooth turned off, wifi with secure trusted sites only, etc..went great for a few days and then it did it all over again. Bluetooth isn't even on, and that is what the apple tech said was the doorway for someone to hack her phone. Any ideas on hw to fix this issue? Thanks
Now the entire tool bar is gone, the more I try the more I lose things. Thanks for trying. I cant even get it back the way it was. I am shutting down for the night now, and hope it corrects itself overnight. thanks but F9 didn't do a thing.. I had XP or years and at my age trying to learn a new one is NOT easy.. tks...

There is a checkbox on the 'info' tab in iTunes that will allow you to overwrite the address book on the phone with the one from the computer on the next sync.

I used my appleid on my husband's phone. Our contacts merged, both phones ring and he sees my texts. I deleted his contacts from my phone and they deleted from his phone also. How can I get my appleid off his phone and retrieve his contacts?

Bad mistake. You shouldn't have used your Apple ID on his phone. And you made it worse because now the contacts are gone, as you deleted them from your phone, they got deleted on iCloud. Your husband should have his Apple ID.
There is really no way of recovering the deleted contacts unless you backed up using iTunes and even then you will only be able to recover those contacts that were on a call list. Read here:

Did you tick the box in iTunes to sync with the Mac address book? Are you using the same user account on your Mac, with the same contacts in the same address book?

Are you looking of the previous history? If you have saved all the event log and auditing is enabled, you can go back and search.

On an iPhone 5s, how do you recover contacts that some how vanished from the contact list?
Sync and the cloud not available yet.To transfer your data and settings to a new device see http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2109. You can also use an app like My Contacts Backup to back up the contacts on your phone as attachment to an email that you send to yourself. If you need to, you can later open this email on your new phone and tap the attachment to import your contacts.

I have apparently wiped out my iPhone 4 contacts list, my apps, and my photos when I synced with iTunes. Maybe I clicked the wrong button, but I just wanted to download the photos from my phone to my computer. Is there any way to restore my previous information?
Did you sync to itunes from a different computer than the one you normally sync to?
syncing to itunes doesn't just wipe out all your data.
If you have a backup of your phone you can restore to that backup. -

If your contacts aren't on icloud.com when you check from your computer, and they aren't on your phone, you'll have to try restoring your last backup (or recover them from another backup source).

Use your back up on your mac/PC and re-add your contacts to Address Book or whatever contact software you use. -
What does it mean when someone in your contacts list is blue and has a person ign on it?
I updated my iPod yesterday to version 6.1.3 and then a few minutes later, I looked at my contacts list and I had all of my mom's contacts and mine. I deleted them from my iPod and then on her phone all of my contacts appeared, along with 3 of hers. I looked at her name in my iPod and it apeared to be blue. How do I fix this? How can I get my mom's contacts back? The same thing happened with our reminders and notes. I don't know if this happende to other applications.
I have logged in to manage my account, change password and i can do all of that.
Since you can access your account details and change your password try this...
Launch iTunes. From the iTunes menu bar click iTunes / Preferences then select the Advanced tab.
Click: Reset warnings & Reset cache.
Restart your computer and restart your iPhone.
Try updating your apps. -
I have an iphone 4. Strange contacts i.e 'EM. Yeeu, Kieu, Sep. Hai' keep appearing in my list of contacts. It is possible to delete the numbers attached to each of these but not the names. Also frequently my list of contacts disappears completely and I have to re-inseert manually each time. Can anybody explain how to stop both these things happening please?
@Naiks, having suffered through unsuccessful synching attempts for Calendar and Contacts myself, l would suggest you try the following:
UNINSTALL iCloud control panel from your PC. Seems silly, but do it.
Go into Outlook, and look at the very top menu. Click FILE, then ACCOUNT SETTINGS, then click the popup box.
You will see a list of all your email accounts. Make sure that ONE of them has a checkmark against it. If not, select the account your want as your default, and click "set as default.
Exit out of Outlook and reboot your machine.
Now reinstall iCloud, check CALENDAR and CONTACTS, and do as instructed when prompted.
Reboot for good luck and now launch OUTLOOK. All that remains is to locate your iCloud Contacts and Calendar files, and make them your default.
IMPORTANT: Don't panic if you can't find your contacts -- they're there. Click CONTACTS and you'll see you have several available contact files. Locate the one label "iCloud" in grey type. Right-click on it, select PROPERTIES, then click the Outlook Address Book tab. Check the box that says something like "Make this my default Outlook Address Book." Keep clicking "apply" and "okay" until you've exited out of the dialog box maze.
You may have to do something similar with your Calendar files. I dd not, but if you need to, do it.
Everything should now sync pretty seamlessly.

It sounds like she deleted them all from your icloud account. If you have an iTunes backup, try this to possible recover your deleted contacts. http://support.apple.com/kb/ts4108
If that doesn't work, you might be stuck as Apple doesn't usually have a backup plan for intentional user deletion. You can try to call Apple though and see if there is anything else they can do to try and recover that deleted info for you.

My email contact lists keeps disappearing when I go to another page like Face Book. When I come back to my mail my contact list is gone. Then I have to sign and out and sign back in again to get the list. What's wrong here?

Start playing a song, any song.
Tap on the album artwork area for the song playing to bring up the scrubber for the song.
The shuffle icon/selection is located at the right of the scrubber, and the repeat icon/selection is located at the left of the scrubber. If repeat is on, the color of the icon will be blue. Select the icon until the color of the icon is white, which means repeat is off.
