Hi,
today and without warning my contacts have been completely wiped out!
The only thing i was connected to was the charger - which wasnt to a computer.
i went to txt someone and every contact i had was completely wiped clean!
i have just connected to my mac and my iphone has wiped the contacts on my phone clean as well.
what the f. is going on apple!
The other day i was working on iweb and the application crashed and wiped out a whole days work.
For the first time in 3 years im really starting to lose faith in these products. At least microsoft have a "recovered" featured....where is this with Mac?
now even thses updates aren't working!!
The only thing that has changed for me recently is that i took on a mobileME account. Today, my phone was connected to nothing...nothing other than the charger - which was done through the mains adaptor...not a computer.

yeah this happened to me too lucky i had the spare laptop in bedroom with all contacts onit so i copied them as v cards and emailed them to myself then downloaded them to desktop and dragged them back into my empty contax list i did the same as you i plugged my iphone into the computer and when it synced it deleted all the contax too! after i reinstated the contax to the computer i plugged the iphone back in and voila they all went back into my phone phhheeew I dont know what caused this at all all i can say is if it has happened to anyone else then give a shout because it may be something wrong with mobile me or something apple has done....

What the heck is wrong with mapped instruments?!?

I'm working on scoring a piece I wrote for marching band. I used the orchestral percussion instrument included in L8. I need to work with mapped instruments so that the score for the percussion part is readable, instead of having the bass drum 8 ledger lines below the staff, the crash cymbal 8 above, etc.
Mapped instruments should let me do this, but I think there is a bug. I don't know, I've never done this before.
My bass drum is played on D0, so I've mapped that to the drum group "bass drum". However, when I add the "bass drum" voice to my score style, nothing shows up, just rests. Other drums groups I've created do show up, although not all pitches I've assigned to them (for instance, I have a snare drum roll and a snare drum hit both assigned to the "snare" drum group, but only the hits show up in my score.

I see your point, you're looking at it from score to MIDI. instead of MIDI to score. Mapped instruments DON'T change the note that is played they change the designation on the left side of the hyper editor from a key # to a drum name.. And on page 435 they say it is ideal for custom drum kits.
Where I get lost, and it seem implied to me in the manual that these custom drum hyper sets could be displayed in Score format.. I have tried to make drum score styles, but I just get stuck.
Lately I have gotten into the practise of making full orchestral scores of songs (but doing pop music). I've found it extremely helpful in arranging to be able to see 6 - 10 tracks of instruments and exactly what they are doing in every measure. It's easier to thin things out, fix note conflicts, see where sections or phrases need doubling, re-inforcement, or cutting. Also by doing this, I already have things fully scored out, and I need to make use 'standard music and drum notation'.
You can't change any notes on the DRUM MIDI track , because BFD2 or Superior drums will not play the correct articulation anymore. BFD hats have 9 articulations (different midi note for each hit). Yet you want to still display those in standard drum score as two different note heads on the line of the staff. And a lot of the other kits have a lot of articulations also. The point of it for me was that I could look at the score and fix things from there as song was playing.. And a drummer could look at it and see an accurate drum representation of what the file is playing.
You can easily edit regular instruments from score page, by sliding bass notes, cutting out grace notes etc. But with the drums you have to go back to the midi edit page.. Looking at a drum performance on the piano roll is hard (it's spread out over 5 or 6 octaves). A lot of times they create variations by using a lot of different articulations.
I can easily detect kick, snare, hats, toms on the piano roll, but the alternate articulations are a B*tch. I often drag a lot of the BFD 1 bar MIDI loops into Logic, then arrange those into a performance. But then you need to sometimes go in and 'even out' the hats, or snare hits, etc. Trying to do it on the piano roll, is time consuming, and you want to make sure you don't have two kick notes playing at same time etc, when you are in the midst of cutting, dragging, and pasting sections, of drum data.
I do on occassion make individual one line percussion staves to show congas or exotic percussion. But in general I want to use standard drum notation (kick, snare, hats, cymbals and toms on one drum percussion staff)
Another great reason to understand and use Drum Hypersets, is that you could switch drums midstream. Say you start with BFD drums but then want to move over to Addictive Drums.
I thought it would be possible to create a drum Hyperset to accomodate that. I started to look into it but got too bogged down trying to work it out

I have 2 tables. Primary table "resease" and secondary table (containing the foreign key) "kunden".
Selecting a release (dropdownlist), will show you the corresponding entry of kunden (datatable).
I added buttons to the datatable for deleting certain rows. This all works fine so far.
But as you are going to delte the last entry of table kunden, I want to delte the corresponding entry of the table release as well. And by trying to do so, I get an exception telling in line "dataTable1Model.commit();"
"java.sql.SQLException: Lock time out; try later."
The exception disappears by deleting the inner try-catch block.
So what is wrong with this code?

just a guess - perhaps call pkRowSet.close() at the end of your try/catch?

WHAT THE HECK IS WRONG WITH SAFARI?

I am using Version 2.0 (412) which came with my Powerbook G4 12" mac (current model). It seems to freeze or quit all the time, especially with ebay.
I used to always send the 'report' to Apple. What exactly does Apple do with these anyway? I'm not sure what my problem is? I have 512Mb of RAM and 80Gb HD. I don't have many other programs open - just itunes and iphoto.
Can anyone help or suggest anything? Many thanks.

Livia, in addition to Jwall's great advice
there are a few other things I'd suggest:
1. Trash your Icons Folder:
HD>Users>Home>YourName>Library>Safari -->Icons
Restart Safari and a new folder will be automatically regenerated.
(This folder saves favicons of all the sites you visit. Needs cleaning periodically -- or you can change that file's preferences to "Read Only"
rather than "Read & Write." This will keep it from growing in size.)
2. You might want to check all three "auto" preferences in Safari. Sometimes those lists gets very long and need pruning. (I turned all autofill boxes off, and have no problems.)
3. If it's been a while since you've shut everything down . . .Shut down your computer . . . unplug the computer, modem, and router, if you have one. Let everything sit for 2-3 minutes. Plug everything back in, start up your modem & router, then restart your computer.

What the heck is wrong with AS 3.0?

I'm having a whale of a time with rollovers in AS 3.0. In
this app:

The bottom buttons are simple movieclips with an up and over
state.
When you rollover and out of them they are very buggy. They
have listeners and that is is. myButton.gotoAndPlay("over");
The button to the left of the one with the green arrow. This
is for the visible elements on the application. When the pop-up
comes up, "MOUSE_OVER" doesn't work at all!!!! Why?
"ROLL_OVER" is extremely buggy. Try it, works maybe half the
time.
I've been programming in AS for 5 years and 2.0 was perfect
with the rollovers of movieclips. Should I be doing something
different, or is this AS 3.0, for now?

I may not have understood what you were after at first. In
my initial
reply, I was thinking you wanted the icon buttons along the
bottom to
continue to respond when the blue swatch was obscuring them.
At this point, I can see what you mean about the OK and
Cancel buttons:
it's easy to fool them by rapidly shaking the mouse. From
what I'm seeing,
I have the following thoughts: your events may be firing more
than once,
because the interior elements of your buttons (the lettering,
the curve
shape) may be active child objects of the buttons themselves
-- for example,
if your text fields are dynamic or of the shapes are movie
clips. So you
may want to set those buttons' mouseChildren properties to
false ...

I realize you just said you did that -- and I believe you --
but since
your earlier code samples don't show as much, I wanted to
cover all the
bases. I'm also noticing that the hit area of these buttons
seems to extend
past the edge of the button artwork itself (just for the
OK/Cancel). That
might be another mouse child culprit.
The overall framerate of your movie may be an issue here,
too.
Since these buttons don't seem to tween, by not bypass movie
clips for
the time being and use button symbols? That may rescue you a
few headaches
for the moment and buy you time to experiment with movie clip
event handlers
later.
Your code looks fine, so I'm interested to know if the same
code
succeeds for you in cases where the artwork is flat-out dull.
Start a new
FLA and whip up a quick movie clip-based button whose artwork
is simply
comprised of identical squares (graphics or simply shapes).
Use the
MOUSE_OVER event. Should work as expected. Now introduce text
(dynamic and
static) to see how the event handling changes unless you
specify
mouseChildren = false (use trace() to test). If mouseChildren
is true
(default), you'll see your trace() get triggered every time
you mouse away
from the dynamic text "back on" to the simple square
background. This isn't
the case for ROLL_OVER, regardless of the mouseChildren
setting.
So you can see that granularity and subtlety have increased,
at least in
this scenario. Conceptually, event handling is still the
same, but some of
the finer details have changed a bit.

What the hell is wrong with my n86???

hi, i started a contract on december 23rd 09, had my n86 a few weeks, earpiece went, no volume, distorting etc, virgin send me a brand new phone, a few weeks later the same thing, this time they told me to keep everything except the battery and handset, and they supply me with a reconditioned phone (i know this as there was all links to some girls facebook page in the web history).
so now after 2 days ive got more problems than before, when its left overnight to charge its switched its self off by morning, it regularly freezes then reboots, and today its been extremely warmer than i think it should be with hardly any use and no apps open and more or less discharged a full battery in 7 hours, is there anything that i can do myself to sort out any of these problems?? if i have to phone virgin for a 4th replacement i think i'll just ask for a different handset, either that or tell them where to stick the other 15 months of the contract. thanks for any advice

What you could try:
1. Update the fw if possible: http://europe.nokia.com/support/download-software/device-software-update/can-i-update
2. Soft reset and format of mass memory. (remember to back up your content - contacts, messages, pics etc..)
- If this does not fix it, I would do as you wrote - try to get it replaced with some other device perhaps...?

What the heck is up with my macbook pro

I just got it back from being repaired by apple because my mbp would not charge. It came back from the repairs with full battery life so i have been using that and now im down to 15 % and i go to plug it in and it won't charge. The charger is brand new as my other one melted and had to be replaced. The computer was just "fixed". brand new charger and supposedly repaired macbook pro that won't charge. any ideas as to what the heck is wrong with it, and will apple keep sending it back for repairs or will they give me a new one?

well it turned out it wasn't the computer, the charger that i had when i received my repaired laptop had been shorted out somehow when i plugged into the laptop before i had it repaired, so apple gave me another charger and it's all good now

Never heard of that. I suspect it thinks that's an email address and you're seeing that screen b/c you don't have an email account setup on your iPhone.
Assuming the number is valid, try a reset by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.

Have you activated iCloud on your Mac? Have you configured iCloud to sync Contacts for to your Mac in System Preferences?

Out of curiosity how much data per month are you using? Another factor could be if neighbors have all done the same thing as you and the node is being overloaded on home internet use.

Did you tick the box in iTunes to sync with the Mac address book? Are you using the same user account on your Mac, with the same contacts in the same address book?
