Contact names are no longer showing in "Messages"

Yesterday I updated the software for the iphone 4s, and now when I look at my messages it is only showing phone numbers and not names. How do I get the phone to show contact names again? Even if I hit the number to make a call, the contact name still does not appear.

There will be a couple different steps we want you to try having a 3G device. I recommend you first call *228 and select option 1 for the programming. Wait until the programming is successful and verify the device power cycles. Once this is done, if your contact names are still not appearing I want you to check the numbers you are contacting. When using text messages does it show a 10-digit number (area code 7 digits)? In the contact list, do they show 10-digits or 11-digits. Is this happening with all of your contacts or just some users? If it's only some, can you confirm if these were contacts manually entered or synced through another service (Gmail, Facebook or another service)? I look forward to hearing back so we can address this.

I don't know when it happened but I suddenly started seeing phone numbers instead of my contact names when I received a text message. When I go to my contacts, they names are there, but the addresses and birthday or notes information is all missing.

If you are syncing contacts with iCloud, go to icloud.com and see if the missing information is in your contacts there. If it is, go to Settings>iCloud, turn Contacts to Off, choose Delete from My iPhone when prompted, then after 30 seconds or so, turn Contacts back on.

I have this identical problem. For a while my group texts didnt show up on my ipad. Then one day they did, maybe everyone in the group started using the same os version or something. Ever since my first reply to the group there have been complaints of multiple threads. I can not find a pattern for when my group text's decide they want to create a new thread. (it doesnt happen every time) Everyone in the group has deleted the thread, we've all toggled imessage on/off etc. There still hasn't been a solution.

When I changed my sim card to a Spanish one in messages app's contact names are gone. My contacts are in iphone not in sim card i can see them in contacts but the problem is number are showing in messages not the names.

The SIM is not involved. The iPhone does not save contacts to the SIM. Most likely when you restored the phone as a step in unlocking the phone you did not restore your most recent backup.

I am also having problems with a site I am building. No matter what websafe font I use it displays as New Times Roman in FireFox. The correct fonts show in both IE9 and Chrome.
In addition, text shifts in FireFox. I have to position other text objects farther and farther apart as I go down the page or they start to overlap. Nav buttons and other images also have to be positioned in the wrong place for them to be in the correct place when the page is opened in FireFox. FireFox should display pages correctly by default. I can't expect th average user to have to tweek his/her settings to display my site.
I have been recommending FireFox on my website as the best browser. I might have to change that and abandon FireFox myself.

Phone numbers are no longer showing up on my email and text as links to call

Phone numbers are no longer showing up in my messages and on my emails as links so that I can call the number directly.

I too am having the same problem, and use the *228 then killing all my open apps solution to bring my numbers back to the correct format. However, as just a one time fix, I keep on getting the same problem again after a few weeks, and last week, after a few days of doing the *228 fix. Does anyone know what is causing this problem on Verizon iPhones? As a point of information, I was previously on AT&T with my iPhones until my wife transferrred me over to Verizon (on her business account because she wanted to surprise me with a new iPhone 4S).

My folders are no longer showing up in Mail

Since early this morning, I have had issues with my iCloud mail account. As of now I am able to send and receive mail fine, but the folders I used to organize messages are no longer showing up on Mail and my iPhone. Has anyone else been having issues similar to this?

I have a macbook pro 10.6.8, that cannot upgrade to Lion. My folders are gone, and now I cannot send or receive email I've tried doing what this page recommended to no avail. So far, mail is working on my iphone and my ipad, and imac, just not my old macbook pro. I keep getting a prompt to log into my mail. When I put in the password it says it doesn't recognize the password even though I'm putting in the correct password. Somebody help.

How did you rebuild?
Try these in order - from best option on down...
1. Do you have an up-to-date back up? If so, try copy the library6.iphoto file from the back up to the iPhoto Library allowing it to overwrite the damaged file.
2. Download <a href="http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/"><b><u>iPhoto Library Manager</b></u></a> and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
3. If neither of these work then you'll need to create and populate a new library.
To create and populate a new *iPhoto 6* library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Rolls and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Roll Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.

Rewire bus names are too long.

Hi. Logic Pro 10.1 - Mavericks - Rewire inputs on Aux channel strips.
Many rewire bus names are too long to see the channel numbers so the lists end up with no numbers (e.g. "RW:Reaper Outp" repeated over and over for all the inputs). I can't see a way to edit the names or apply a name mask (even in the environment) in Logic like you can in a lot of other DAWs. Is this possible in Logic?

I re-booted my desktop and now the files are transfering. Not sure why the difference? I looked around on other posts and tried their suggestions.
I am very careful to not use illegal file names and have taught classes at our Camera Club on proper file naming conventions because of all the issues members have had submitting digital photos for various projects. As a webmaster, I have to be very careful with my file naming on Unix/Linux/ Apache servers too.
The error wasn't any speficic file as I was transfering a folder for a whole year of photos.

In the above example, as the both 10.240.160.33 and 10.240.160.32 are wired and they are in same VLAN, their multicast packets reach each other even though AirGroup is there.
So they are acting as sleep proxy server for each other. However, It should not cause any issue for mirroring application. When user selects a ATV(Confern-room-6/ios200-2) from his iPad for mirroring, it should be getting displayed on the ATV which ever he has chosen.
2. When the option sleep proxy is enabled.

Did you change your sim card? I had this same problem because I moved countries and had to add a 1 before the number and area code.

TS2755 all of my contact "names" that appear on my text messages have now become contact numbers. I prefer the history to show the name rather than the number. how do i convert this setting back to names?

Hello, my phone has just changed a setting and I am unable to figure out how to change it back. Historically my text messages are saved and stored by "contact name". Now they appear by "contact number". I prefer contact name and would like help with how to restore or return to the original setting.

This happened to me too, and my pictures dissapeared. If you click the number, a drop down menu will appear and you can choose add to exisitig or create new contact. 50% of the time I am able to see the contact in my list the other %50 I have to create a new contact. When you do either of these the name will show versus the number. I think this is a bug with the latest update.

How do I get contact names to appear in the Verizon Messages browser version?

I just got the S5 and was giving the Verizon Messages app a shot since Mighty Text is acting a little wonky with Kit Kat and won't sync outgoing browser texts with the phone. With the VZW Messages app sending and receiving texts from my phone and browser works fine but I wanted the contact names to show up in the browser window. I figured Verizon was pulling the data from the cloud storage and not directly from the phone so I synced my contacts with vzw cloud but it only synced 35 out of my 350 contacts. They all originated from Google Contacts and seamlessly imported to my new phone from my old one.
Any ideas?

Having the ability to access your contacts via Verizon Messages is very important JoeVoorhees. I am happy to inform you that with Verizon Messages, you do have the ability to import your contacts. To do this, simply sign into your Verizon Messages online>on the upper right hand side>click on menu>manage contacts>import contacts>on the top right hand side of the page you will see a picture of your phone and sync. Click on sync.
