Contact Photos in Messaging

Apple needs to add the ability to see contact photos in messaging, email and notifications. This is smartphone 101. I switched from android & still can't believe this isn't a standard feature. Why does Apple even allow for photos if it doesn't use it for anything but caller ID?

I'm having a similar problem. For one contact, the facebook photo suddenly disappeared. All I have is a white square in my contacts list and messaging, and a black screen when they call me. I haven't changed anything for this contact, and their facebook photo is still the same as it was before it stopped appearing. All my other contacts are fine.
I have restarted the phone numerous times, but it hasn't helped.

IF you set up a photo for a contact you should see their photo when they call you.
You won't see pictures in single imessage unless they are in a group imessage assuming those contact have been associated with a picture.

If someone using my user and password on their iphone will it notify me on my iphonr that someome login using my account? will they see my messages ? my old deleted messaged? will it synce my contacts photos and messages on their phone using my account?

My girlfriend just got an iphone 4s and she might sell it bc she doesnt like it so i gave her my information to login to her new iphone so she can just test it out so she doesnt have to set up a new account... anyways once she signs my user name and password on her iphone will it notify me on my iphone that someone is signing it? Will it allow it? And will she see all my text messages even from imessage and phoTos? Will it show her all my deleted text messages?? once she setups her iphone using my account information and she synces everything will it synce all the contacts and messages and pictures ?? Just curious to what all will happen i dont want it to lock my account or anythin

Only received iMessages, depending on how she sets it up. No SMS or MMS

Yes, if she restores your iCloud backup to her phone, and sets up the same iCloud account

You sound a bit more that that... I don't understand why you gave her your account info just to "test it out" - creating her own account is quick, easy, and free. If you have even the remotest concerns, you don't have to "lock" your account - just change your password.

I plugged my iphone into my desktop today because i wanted to download photos, followed prompts for upgrades and icloud. next thing my contacts, photos and messages are gone, instead i have my sons photos contacts, messages! interesting but want my stuff

The first time an iPhone is connected to iTunes that is used to sync with another iPhone or iOS device, you are prompted to transfer the backup for the other iPhone or iOS device or to set up the iPhone as a new iPhone.
The former does as provided - it transfers the backup for the other iPhone or iOS device to the iPhone replacing all data on the iPhone that is included with the backup being transferred. The latter does nothing allowing you to make your various selections for the iPhone sync preferences with iTunes.
This is designed to be done right away with a new iPhone.
If you don't have a backup for the iPhone with iTunes on your computer and don't have an iCloud backup that hasn't been updated since choosing to transfer the backup for your iPod Touch to the iPhone, the data that was on the iPhone is gone.

Contact photos are not showing up in Mail message list, even though the message will link to the contact card in Address Book with the photo in it.

ITunes does not recognise iPhone 3G (version 4.2.1) and need help with how to transfer photos, contacts and/or messages PLEASE??

Try this one and see if it helps:
Close your iTunes,
Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
(Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
netsh winsock reset
Hit "ENTER" key
Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes, Sync and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

Cannot send photo or contact as text message

Running the newest update 8.1 (10/22/2014) on a iPhone 5S. I STILL cannot share a contact via text message. I STILL cannot send a photo as a text message when I select a photo directly from my camera roll/photo albums. I can send a photo in an EMAIL directly from the camera roll/photo albums, but not in a text message. I can start a text message and then click on the camera icon and attach the photo. I haven't been able to do this since iOS 8 came out.
Sharing a contact and a photo via text messages were things I could do with iOS 7. Anyone else having this problem?

With iOS 7 you would open your camera roll or album, select the photo you wanted, click on send as a message, then it would take you to the text screen where you could see the photo being sent as it asked you for the recipient's phone. Now when I click on send as a message it takes me to the text screen, but as you can see, the photo is not attached. Same thing with a contact…I can click on "share contact as a text message" but when it takes me to the text screen, nothing is attached.

Move photo from message and add to contacts

A friend sent a photo as a text message, now I would like to add it to her contact information. I saved it to the "saved file in the text message app, but still can't see how to move it to the contact photo. When I open the contact edit screen and choose the blank photo, it gives me only two choices, Camera or Photos. I choose photos but I can't find the "saved text message photo on my TREO 680.
The other choice is to "add to contact" which creates a new contact and then I would have to move all her information over. I would think there would be a simpler way.
Any hints?

Those two fields should not be flashing. Do they flash on every contact?
Also if you turn on Airplane mode does it still flash?

I have 5 devices all on one itune account.i have not activated icloud because i dont want it to sync all our information together. is there a way to set it up to only sync the music together and not the contacts photos messages etc

Unless you subscribe to iTunes Match, iCloud doesn't sync music. Just set up every person's devices on a separate iCloud account and your iCloud data and photo stream will remain separated. Each iCloud account will need a separate ID, but it does not need to be the same as your iTunes ID. You can continue to share the same iTunes ID and maintain separate iCloud accounts with separate IDs for iCloud.
You'll also want to use separate IDs for each person for iMessage and FaceTime. This will keep your text messages and FaceTime called separated as well. The easiest way to do this is to have everyone use their iCloud ID for these two services as well.

Will Updating my iPhone 4 to iOS 7 Erase my Messages,Contacts & Photos?

Hi, I own a iPhone 4, Well my dad owns an iPhone 4 for 1 year now and iOS 7 Just came out. I am very excited to update my dad's phone to iOS 7 But the only thing i am afraid of is, will his iPhone be fully erased? Will Updating the iPhone wipe the whole phone out? I don't want to mess my dad's phone up because he needs all his data on his phone. My dad has important messages and contacts that he doesn't want erased. He also has photo's that he needs. Is their a way i can retrieve my dad's Photos,Messages and Contacts after Updating to iOS 7, what is the process of updating and retrieving my dad's data from his phone. Someone please reply with a answer!

Okay, But i will first Backup with iCloud then i will backup my iPhone to itunes wirely and then download the update and then when i update the iphone througgh itunes i will choose restore frm backup after updating to ios 7 and i will choose my latest backup, is that right? But why is it, the last time i did it, i backed up my iphone and then restored the backup, everythign was restored bt not the contacts and my messages?

Contact photos wrong then search for unread messages

When I search for unread messages in apple mail, every contact photo is my profile photo instead of the contacts profile photo. Any ideas how to fix or is this a bug?

Thanks - I understand the read flag is set on the server, but I don't think that's the case here. Mail is not incorrectly reporting some messages as read when they aren't - it just has the count of unread wrong (in subscription folders, not in the inbox)...
Also although I do access mail from other machines/web client it happens when I haven't...
Ie
send mail to myself at address that gets filed into a folder by the server
no log on to mail from web or other computer
mail arrives in folder, reported by Mail as 2 unread messages
click on folder, resyncs very quickly, unread count revised to 1 (correct)
In fact once I was watching while a mail came in - the count first showed 1 (correct) then quickly changed to 2.
I'm not sure what extra info I can provide - I had imagined this was a common problem since through google I found many others observing the same behaviour (but no solution).
The IMAP account is with Fastmail, who I believe run Cyrus.
I have letterbox and IMAP-IDLE plugin, but this problem was happening before installation of both of those.

as a side note - my drafts folder (on the server) reports 2 messages unread (there are two messages in there) - is this normal? (drafts to be reported as unread) - I must admit I'd prefer they weren't.

Hi. Both myself and my wife are on the same account meaning same credit card. The problem with this is we both receive each others contacts and see each others I messages.
How can my wife have a different name so we are separate on such things as contacts and I message but she can still purchase items on the account.

You entered your wife's seperate AppleID? Check you can login with the same AppleID here: http://appleid.apple.com/ on a computer.
Some of the photos in that link apply to setting up iCloud on a device from new, not when setting it up later. It won't look the same (the dark gray background) for you as you're setting it up now.
