Contact pictures in Mail

I like the fact that Mail shows you your contact picture for those contacts that contain a picture in Address Book.
However, I don't want the picture to print for certain emails.
Is there a way, other than removing the picture from the contact in Address Book, of not printing the contact's picture?

Actually, there is a way to print emails without the picture. However, it might not be just what you want....
If you open Mail's preferences and look at the "Viewing" tab, you'll notice a pull-down menu at the top of the window. This is for selecting what is shown in the header. You can choose "none" to remove the header from view altogether, thereby removing the picture. The email will print as it is displayed, with no header or picture.
Unfortunately, that's the only way to get rid of the picture: To remove the header entirely. If you can live with that, you can be rid of the picture.

Upgraded my MBP (most recent release) to Lion... I noticed my brother's Mail app now shows the contact picture in the message list (along the left of the message)
My mail app is not doing the same and I've been hunting through help and settings menus... Any help to turn it on would be a huge help.
I use MobileMe to sync my accounts, also my contact images come from the iphone FaceBook app syncing.

Mail is tied to Contacts. Whatever picture you have under that contact in Contacts will be presented in Mail. Delete the photo in Contacts and it will not show up in Mail. A very BAD feature and far to Windows-like, that one application would have control of another without the ability to turn that off, but even Apple comes up with some doosies that make you scratch your head once in awhile. I hope they correct it.

Wrong contact picture in Mail (both iPhone and MacBook)

Hi all,
Something strange is going on in Mail. On my MacBook I see my moms picture instead of mine, e-mail address and name are correct though. On my iPhone, I however see my mother's name and when I click on it, I get linked through to my mother's contact card.
Does anyone know what is going on and how I can solve this? Read some things about Time Machine messing things up but don't know what I can do to solve this.

Well, it's a bit of a disappointing answer considering one of the major things that made change to a Mac is that nothing is impossible, you just have to figure it out!
I suppose there must be a way to edit the template according to which the mail messages are printed... Isn't there a field or option in some configuration file that you can change to solve this?

This is very frustrating since I work very hard to keep up my contacts all up to date. Everyone seems to work fine, except for my own picture! Why???
I took various advice such as:
Try deleting the photo on each of your devices, once you are sure your photo is not attached to your card on any of your devices, re-add it on your Mac.
You might also check, if you have a user account on more than one Mac, that the picture used in system preferences >users & groups do not contradict each other.
Alas, nothing works. I chose my new picture in "System Preferences" but it appears blank in Contacts and in Mail. I kept my icon picture in my iPhone 4 clear and nothing yet has appeared their either.
I think that the most frustrating part about all of this is that the minute I try to Edit my own picture in Contacts, I add the same picture that in my System Preferences (Users & Groups) and as soon as I press "done", the picture dissapears and becomes blank/white again. To add insult to injury, if I go back to edit my picture in Contacts and choose "recent", there's a blank (white) icon that appears as the latest utilised picture. I'm not 100% sure what that white image is, but I'm sure it has to do with iCloud somehow.
Please help me, I would actually love to have an icon picture (Like all my other contacts!)

I have an iPhone 4 (4.2.1) which I sync my contacts, mail and calendar via hotmail (live mail).
Calendar and email works great.
But for the contacts, It syncs the contact information, but not the contact pictures. This works flawlessly with Windows Phone 7 phones.
Anyone have an idea of whats wrong?

on your phone go to the app store - then click update at the bottom - purchased - then you'll see two tabs

Thank you for providing the details of the issue you are experiencing with the Mail application on your iPad.
The first thing I recommend is quitting and relaunching all the applications on your iPad:
Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.

If you are still seeing the same issue after quitting all the apps, I recommend the following steps:
Restart your iOS device.
Delete the affected email account from your device.
Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.

But not sure how to do that. When I open iTunes it has a button that say "Back Up iPhone", but I'm not sure what that does. When I go into the sync options it say I have another user account and asks me if I want to merge of replace. I'm assuming it's trying to tell me I have an older iTunes Library, but don't know that. Geez, maybe people over 60 shouldn't have iPhones, iTunes just bafles me.

I want to be able to see my contact pictures whenever I text someone from my contacts list. How do you put your contact pictures on a text message for iPhone 6? I can see my contacts pictures when I send/receive a group text but not an individual text. Is this feature equip for apple phones? Thank you!!!

i have this beautifully huge screen and this tiny picture.. i dont want to revert back to ios 7, but the tiny picture is really a deal breaker for me. i dont understand why this was changed. i really hope this is changable and someone can help me change it.

You can transfer itunes purchases: File>Devices>Transfer Purchases
The iphone is not a storage/backup device. The sync is one way - computer to iphone. The exception is itunes purchases.
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer. Use your backup copy to put everything back.

Your old ID connects to an icloud account containing all your data (email, contacts, etc.) If you then use a different ID, you will connect to a different account, which results in losing all your "apple" data, like emails, contacts, calendars, etc.
However, Apple IDs are also used to connect to an itunes store account, with is different. You can keep using the old itunes store ID to keep all your purchases (but if you change to a different ID, you will lose all purchased items) and use the new ID for icloud (but losing emails, contacts, etc. from the old account).

If you plug in the iPhone to your computer, any contacts ect that you synced with your computer with sync back with the iPhone when it is selected in the iTunes menu under info. Anything that was added without syncing was lost, I'm sorry. A good future solution is to get iOS 5 when it comes out this fall, so you don't need to manually sync contacts, its automatic!

I updated itunes 11.1.5 and I accidently restored all my settings back to my old phone that was backed up onto my computer, I lost everything that was set up on my phone, contacts, pictures, videos, emails...etc.. how do I get my old setup back without doing a factory data reset?

Restore the device again using the most recent backup.
If there is no more recent backup and the pictures were not copied off the device prior to the original restore, they are gone. Same goes for videos taken with the device.
Contacts are designed to be synced to a supported application on the computer or a cloud service, simply sync them back.
Any content acquired from iTunes should be on iTunes on the computer, simply sync it back.
