Contact Pictures on iPhone

When I place or receive calls with some contacts I get a full screen image of the contact, but with others I see my background image and only a small picture of the client. What causes the difference. I would like to see the large contact image for all contacts

Assuming you are syncing contact info with the Address Book on your Mac, when assigning a photo to a contact with the Address Book on your Mac, the contact's photo will appear postage stamp size when calling the contact or when receiving a call from the contact - just as is shown in the iPhone commercials. When assigning a contact's photo with your iPhone, with a photo captured by your iPhone or from a photo in your iPhone's Photo Library transferred from your computer, the contact's photo will appear full screen when calling the contact or when receiving a call from the contact.
Long story short, if you want a contact's photo to appear full screen, you need to assign the contact's photo from a photo on your iPhone.

  • How to get contact pictures off iPhone

I saved a picture with most of my contacts on my iPhone. Now I'd like to get those pictures off of the iPhone and onto a computer. Can someone help?
So you know, I took the contact pictures from directly within the contact editor. I've tried sync'ing to my computer, but I only get thumbnails on my computer when I want the whole picture (I'm going to transfer the pictures to another iPhone).
Thanks for any help or suggestions.

I have no clue, but don't think resolution is all that crucial.
Even a low-res picture can help preserve an important memory. Or something that makes a good phone contact picture may likely also make a good avatar for flickr, twitter, etc, and it would not need to be full resolution for such purposes.
Nothing taken with the iPhone is all that high-res anyhow. IIRC, pix assigned on the phone show up full-screen, so it's probably not as low-res as the teeny photo assigned on the desktop and transferred via sync.
Incidentally, google turned up this method of retrieval, using the Mac:
If you click "edit" on the contact's entry in Address Book and then double click inside their picture, it will appear as a somewhat bigger version, which you can copy with command-C. But it's a far cry from full-resolution.

I can't test it, though, as I don't sync contacts, and really have no clue whether the iPhone sync contact pictures to Outlook on Windows, which I assume the OP uses.

  • Full screen contact picture lost iPhone 6 plus

upgraded my iphone 5 to ios8 and i was so pleased to see the return of fullscreen contact pictures for incoming calls. After getting an iphone 6+ today I am disappointed to see this return to the small round picture at the top of the screen. Am I missing a setting somewhere?

Hello everyone. No one is missing a setting or need to do a bodoo ritual to get a full sized photo on incoming call in an iphone. The answer is simple since the phone in his original position has an aspect radio of 9:16 to the phone display a picture in full screen at the incoming call the picture needs to be in the same aspect ratio so there is no blank spaces anywhere and the software proceed to display the contact picture.  Also the picture has to stay in your library.
The procedure to do this in iOS 8:
1- Go to Photos>Camera Roll> Select the picture you wanna set as contact.
2- Touch "Edit" in the right superior corner.
3- Inside Edit mode touch the tool to resize.
4- Set the grid to a position taller than wide.
5- Touch the scale icon in the lower right corner of the screen. Is the one above the "Done" button.
6- Select the last option that reads: "9:16" that is related to the aspect ratio for the selected area.
7- Adjust your image zooming or moving until it reach the desired one.
    8- Hit done.
9- Now in Camera Roll set the image to the contact desired. It's done.
    Enjoy.

  • Doesnt sync contact pictures to iPhone 4

    Hi,
I have an iPhone 4 (4.2.1) which I sync my contacts, mail and calendar via hotmail (live mail).
    Calendar and email works great.
But for the contacts, It syncs the contact information, but not the contact pictures. This works flawlessly with Windows Phone 7 phones.
Anyone have an idea of whats wrong?

on your phone go to the app store - then click update at the bottom - purchased - then you'll see two tabs
all or not on this phone.  Choose either one and then select the app to download by clicking on the cloud.

  • Contact Picture on iPhone not the same as on Computer

I recently changed the picture in Address Book for my own contact information, but when I sync my phone the old picture remains in the phone. I've tried erasing and restoring the phone but every time I sync it still uses that old picture, even though I've deleted it from my computer as far as I can tell. Help?

I'm not sure if this will make any difference but try resetting the sync history on your Mac which is done via iSync preferences with the iSync application located in your Applications folder.
After resetting the sync history, restart your Mac and try syncing again.
If this doesn't work, have you also tried restoring your iPhone as a new iPhone or not from your iPhone's backup? This will require changing all iPhone settings manually to the existing but worth a try as one of the last steps since it seems you have tried everything else.

  • HT1386 I have an older iPhone (3gs) and need to upgrade to a newer phone (4S).  I need to get my NOTES, CALENDAR, CONTACTS, PICTURES, etc backed up on iTunes so I can get that data loaded onto the new phone.  But not sure how to do that.

I'm assuming it's trying to tell me I have an older iTunes Library, but don't know that.  Geez, maybe people over 60 shouldn't have iPhones, iTunes just bafles me.

  • My computer crashed and I have to get my data from my old drive to another computer, to ensure I get all my data what do I need to get.  I have and ipad and an iphone.  I need to get apps, contacts, pictures, etc.  Is there a way to do this?

My computer crashed and I have to get my data from my old drive to another computer, to ensure I get all my data what do I need to get.  I have and ipad and an iphone.  I need to get apps, contacts, pictures, etc.  Is there a way to do this? It was a vista pc and the new is win 7. I can grab the backup files, and music, but what about my apps? I do not want to sync on the new pc since the apps aren't there.  Were are the app files located in itunes? Can I just copy them to the new computer?

You can transfer itunes purchases:  File>Devices>Transfer Purchases
The iphone is not a storage/backup device.  The sync is one way - computer to iphone.  The exception is itunes purchases.
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer.  Use your backup copy to put everything back.

  • My iPhone has my old email set up throught iCloud. How do I reset my new username with the device without deleting everything. And if I have to delete my old account, will everything (contacts, pictures, games, apps, etc.) be erased from my phone.

Your old ID connects to an icloud account containing all your data (email, contacts, etc.)  If you then use a different ID, you will connect to a different account, which results in losing all your "apple" data, like emails, contacts, calendars, etc.
However, Apple IDs are also used to connect to an itunes store account, with is different.  You can keep using the old itunes store ID to keep all your purchases (but if you change to a different ID, you will lose all purchased items) and use the new ID for icloud (but losing emails, contacts, etc. from the old account).

  • I erased everything on my iphone and lost all my contacts pictures and everything how do i get all that back from my itunes account??

I erased everything on my iphone and lost all my contacts pictures and everything else how do i get the contacts and pictures back from my itunes account?? ive tried restore its like it gave me a whole new iphone thing.

If you plug in the iPhone to your computer, any contacts ect that you synced with your computer with sync back with the iPhone when it is selected in the iTunes menu under info. Anything that was added without syncing was lost, I'm sorry. A good future solution is to get iOS 5 when it comes out this fall, so you don't need to manually sync contacts, its automatic!
    Best Regards

    - You do have iTunes version 11 on the computer, right. Saying the latest is not sufficient.
    - Have you tried everthing here:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    - You should
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
Your library/media will not be affected.
    - Does the iPod charge?

  • IPhone Contact Pictures Fully Explained

    Hello Guys,
Just wanted to explain fully how the iPhone contact pictures work and why some are large and some are small etc.
In the very beginning if you added a picture to a contact on the IPHONE when you made a call it would show up as a LARGE image. If you added the picture via the Mac contacts app, when you called it would be a small image in the top right corner.
Then what happened if you added a HD/large in data size image to a contact in the mac app, it would show in your iPhone (during a call) as a large image. This was because there was enough picture data to show the larger size.
Now we come to Yosemite and iOS8........
In iOS8 if you now view a contact on the iPhone and actually finger tap the contact picture it actually opens up the full image in the screen. This didn't happen before.
Before if you tapped the picture nothing would happen.......now you can view the image and save it to the camera roll if you wish........
Now.....in Yosemite if you add a picture on the Mac this is where is gets interesting....... It doesn't matter on the actually data size of the image. It could be 40kb or 4mb. What makes the difference between large and small when calling is the HEIGHT of the image.
If you resize ANY image to 960px, when calling it will show the image as blurry LARGE!!
If you make the image 959px or less in height it will show the image as small top right.
So you have have a 5mb image thats 959px high and it will show as a small image when calling.......
I hope that clears everything up for you guys!

    ckent007,
What version of the iPhone software are you using?
Are you saving the contact pictures (by tapping done in the edit contact screen) before you go to the home screen and use another application?
    Hope this helps,
    Jennifer B.

  • I have an iPhone 4s iOs 5.1.1, I want to update it to iOs 7, if I've backed up to iCloud will my contacts, pictures and text messages be saved and able to be restored if lost?

I have an iPhone 4s iOs 5.1.1,( I know I need an update!) I want to update it to iOs 7, if I've backed up to iCloud will my contacts, pictures and text messages be saved and able to be restored if lost? I recently backed up to the iCloud as recently as this morning at 2AM.

    OCD with good reason
With a second backup, as you now have, you are well protected.  The update makes a backup to use for restoring after the install but with another you should be in great shape.
Just take you time and be patient, these can take a while to complete depending on server load, connection speed, etc.

  • Contact pictures not showing on iPhone in iMessage
