Daily i receive contact requests off so called generals from the USA armee i dont like that at all becouse ofcourse i know its fake in my privasysettings only my contact persons can contact me but stil it happen. I block them ofcourse and report abuse. But nothing seems to help

Unfortunately, the Privacy Settings in Skype can only prevent/stop unwanted calls/instant messages from non-contacts, not contact requests (which now also appears in the IM box/window).

I keep getting contact requests from unknown people

Ever since I created my skype account, which was a few months ago, I've been getting a bunch of contact requests from people claiming to be in the army, and wanting to hook up and date me? I have absolutely no idea who these people are or why this is happening, or if someone has put my skype name onto Craigslist or something like that. But, if anyone knows how, I would like to know how to make it so that people can't sent me contact requests, meaning that I would have to send them one, if possible. I had been getting a lot more contact requests from these supposed soldiers in the first month or so after creating my account. So if anyone has any ideas on how to fix this, that'd be great.

Not in any particular order, try these pro-active tactics:
Check your privacy settings to ensure your account is set to receive calls and IM's from people on your contact list only. Remember to click Save if you make any adjustments. If you happen to sign on at another location or device, check the privacy settings immediately! I found this out when I signed on using a new operating system I am learning; much to my horror, my account privacy settings defaulted to settings I never leave "open" on my other locations.
Clear your profile of any details - scrub it clean. Leave all settings as "blank" or "not specified," particularly the Gender setting.
Post a bland, neutral picture or avatar rather than a snapshot or "selfie."
Remember to Block and Report as Abuse all of these rogue, unwanted contact requests. Ignoring them makes them go away temporarily; they will return and probably bring their so-called "friends" with them once they know they have a lead on a working, active Skype account name.
Despite the popularity of it, consider disassociating your Skype account from your FaceBook account.
You may also contact Skype Customer Service to request your account be removed from the search directory.

On restart of Skype I get contact request from a known contact

Hello allmighty Skype Community, A strange thing has happened with one of my contacts on Skype. This is a person I know and he has been on my contact list for years. A couple of weeks ago the following happened: Whenever I restart Skype I get a contact request from that person and no matter what I do (decline or accept), that person stays on my contact list and I get a new contact request. I asked my contact something has happened on his side, but he couldn't recall anything particular. Any ideas on how I should solve this?

It is possible that there is a problem with the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.
Delete the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.

If you see files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js then delete those as well.<br />

I get contact request from people I don't know - ...

Where are people getting my skype name from, because I keep getting requests for contact. Out of curiousity I added a contact, and in one day of corresponding (could not connect video, I worked out that it was the basis work of a scam.

Contact Requests from Folks Already On List

So my Skype just automatically updated to the newest version, and for some reason, two of the folks on my contacts keep cropping up every time I sign in saying they've "sent a contact request." The thing is, I've had one on my list for about 3 years and the other since last month, nobody else is displaying this problem. I'll close the conversations and it'll prompt me to accept or decline their contact request. No matter what I click, they're still on my list (which is fine), but whenever I open up the conversation with them, they'll still apparently have a "pending contact request." It isn't impeding my ability to message them, which is nice, but it is interfering with my message notifications and it's just a hassle. Is there any way to resolve this? I've reset and even re-installed Skype to see if that fixed the problem, and nothing doing.

I'm having the same problem! I can't seem to find a way to get rid of it. It's just really annoying, but not hurting my ability to contact my friends and family.

UNWANTED SCAM CONTACT REQUESTS

PEOPLE SKYPE's acknowledgement of an ongoing problem and lack of action is total **bleep**.
At present any user can be sent a CONTACT REQUEST from any scammer, regardless of a user's privacy settings. This is WRONG, SHOULD NOT HAPPEN and is contrary to what we users expect of you SKYPE when they are CHARGING us for using SKYPE.
I don't want to be contacted by General **bleep**ing or his sister, do you understand me Skype admin ? Neither do any of the other users who've written and posted to this site : WITHOUT any action being taken by Skype to FIX THE PROLEM.
I am sick and tired and fed up of getting these contact requests, every single friggin day and having to delete them and block them. You do it, why should I ? STOP these scammers for once and for all.
Come on how much money does Microsoft have behind it, to do so ? now get rid of the scammers.

I never ever post on these forums! But this is getting simply ridiculous!
It used to just be General Napoleon-complex or whoever, and that was once or twice a month; I could live with that. Then it got to be random people at least once or twice a week. Then it built to at least one or two a day.
Today it was 5, and one of them was pure porn. ACK!!!! Totally not acceptable!!!
And I am required - note: REQUIRED!!! - to use Skype for work. Just how is one expected to use Skype for work when one is bombarded with useless, senseless requests, some of which are porn?
And what about our children, who also use Skype? I do believe that subjecting minors to porn is against the law. If you knowingly don't fix the problem and a minor is subjected to porn, that is a FELONY.
At this point, if you can't fix the problem, the result is going to be that we all start to use something else. Some of those inexpensive little webcams come with nice PRIVATE chat systems on a CD that you can install anywhere. Perhaps we should migrate to those, guaranteeing we only have people in our networks that we know - because they won't have the CD, and won't have our usernames, and someone won't allow them to find us.
Wake up, smell the coffee, and fix it, before you lose everyone. Or is that the idea?
Or does anyone from Skype or MS even read these?

GHANA CONTACT REQUESTS

I keep blocking and reporting, but they don’t seem to be discouraged. J
I’ve been receiving for a while now contact requests from Ghana.
It curiously happens that all of them (mostly female) are from other countries and doing “something” there.
Can someone to confirm that is part of an organized scam? If so, can the requests be prevented?

Can Skype send contact requests without your knowl...

My daughter received a contact request from a man that I know. He is denying any knowledge or that he sent it. Does skype ever send contact requests without your knowledge? For example, could it access your email contacts and then search for linked skype accounts and send them contact requests without you knowing? Need to know if this is possible before reporting this person. Thank you.

2. No. These are private to the users. You should consider reporting this matter to the Police without delay.

Contact request - no notification

I removed one person. Then when I next time logged in Skype, there was in Recent category a contact request from that same person who I removed. But there was no notification. Why is that? Is it now hoax or just and old ghost?

Now I got answer from live support chat. Person get only one notification per/user.

Contact request invation

I am bein envaded by contact request from what pretends to be girks with sex pseudonymes. How can I block this?

I would like to know this answer too. My Skype at hme is on a Windows XP and it doesn't have Decline option but my Skype at work on Ubuntu does. I would rather Decline rather than block a lot of the requests I get.

Unknown Contact Request

I recently received a new "Contact Request" from a name unknown to me and which I was not expecting.
I checked the profile which provided no additional relevant information.
Is there any danger, either directly or indirectly (getting on Spam lists, etc.) of accepting such a request? Is this a frequest occurance on Skype?

Suspicious contact request

I got a contact request from someone who claims to be a skype lottery agent named "skype.userlottery2012(JAMES HEROLD)" saying that I have emerged as one of your lucky winners for the year 2011 skype user's lottery. Is this a scam or do I need to add to contact and proceed with this? Please let me know. Thank you.

Spam with contact requests

So a while ago like a month ago I stopped talking to this one person. He started to get kinda strange acting wierd so I blocked him, but ever since then I have been getting contact requests from him. It is so bad every day it's a diffrent person today it was "Jennifer". I'm wondering is there a way to stop this can I contact skype to have this persons IP banned from my account? Any form of help is appreciated thank you.

Contact requests can't be blocked. Even if they were blockable by IP, people would just use a proxy/VPN to get around that block. It's similar to getting spammed by an autodialer with phone calls. For all you know all your Skype names were posted in an online forum and harvested by spam bots ot make the situation worse. The only solution available is to create a new account and be more selective of the people you choose as contacts and the groups you create/join. I'm part of groups but the ones I'm a part of everyone behaves like a grown adult and wouldn't stoop to that level. The alternative is to contact local law enforcement and see what type of cyberbullying policies/laws there are to see if you can hold that person accountable for their actions (harassment).

Receiving unsolicited contact requests.

I only use Skype for chats & video calls to my relatives in Australia. Normally I do not receive unsolicited contact requests. I have had them before and they seem to follow either new Skype updates or my Skype activity. I video called OZ last week and I am now receiving 6 or 7 unsolicited contact requests from young women in Africa/Asia each day now?Yes my settings only allow my contacts to contact me and yes I block all the unwanted requests; but it is annoying and upsetting because I do not know how & why it happens and I cannot stop it.Apparently neither can/will Skype?My apologies for being repetitious, I'm just blowing off steam.
