Contact resolving call/sms

Hi all,
Usually I store my contacts internationally like +61xxxx, or +41xxxx and now I have the following problem on my phone when i receive a international call (+41xxxx) the number match with the contact and everything is fine. But if I receive a local call the number arrives without +41xxxx and the phone don't match with the contact who is stored in international format.
Okay now we can say store the local numbers in a local format, without international dial code. If I do this and receive a sms it comes internationally (+41xxxx) and didn't match with the contact.
Any ideas?
thanks
p

The main reasons for caller ID not working are:
1. Duplicate entries in contacts - by FAR the most common cause and unfortunately, the most awkward one to fix.
If the phone finds the same number against more than one name, it doesn't know which to use so, perfectly sensibly, it defaults to showing the number.
The only way to fix this is to remove duplicates from your contacts. Best way to do this would probably be in Outlook on the PC, but assuming you can't do that, then you have to find the numbers that aren't working a use the LATEST version of the Nokia Search tool to find the duplicate entries:
NOTE: when you search, use PART of the number to avoid problems with formatting: searching for +441234567890 will NOT find +44 123 456 7890 whereas searching for 789 would.
2. Using your international dial code instead of '+'
Not sure if this applies to all phones, but if you store your number using your county's international dial code (eg: 004412345678990 - WRONG) instead of the '+' sign (+4412345678990 - RIGHT), it can cause problems.
3. "(0)" area code prefixes
Only a problem if you synch with MS Outlook. When you specify a country in MS Outlook, it will insert "(0)" into your phone number after the country code - while somewhere in Redmond, Bill Gates cackles - so +4412345678990 becomes +44 (0) 12345678990.
You need to remove the (0).
4. 9 and 10 digit numbers
There has been one report of problems with 9 and 10 digit numbers where one size doesn't work with SMS and the other with calls. Not sure that anyone else has ever come across this.

  • FREE Call & SMS Blocker for Curve 8900

Is there anyone know an application for blocking unwanted call & SMS FREEWARE for Curve 8900???
like black&whitelist... but i don't want the shareware...
    Thanks a lot.

I don't know of a free one. You can also look at iCallManager.
Meanwhile if you want to block ALL SMS messages, you can do that at Options > Security > Firewall settings and check the items you want blocked completely.

  • Call/SMS Profiles

On Blackberries you can setup phone profiles such that a (manually set) night time profile would allow for some contacts (family, etc) to always be able to call/sms you but all others would remain silenced.   Is there an Andriod app that provides similar?

Yes there is. My phone is DOA right now, but I believe it is called, Silent Time Lite. You choose times for your phone to be silent for emails, texts, and calls, but can set up exceptions for people.

  • Set default contect details for call, SMS, e-mail ...

You can set the default detail to use for calls, SMS, e-mail etc.
If you do not do this phone will ask when selecting a contact to write a message.
But to set this you have to edit EVERY contact!
And the list pops up to the first contact each time (so you have to scroll down).
Is there an easier way to do this (can't be set i OVI Suite either).
Also when I transferred my contact from one phone to the new one, these settings were lost :-(
So now I have to set all the default details over again. Annoying :-(

None that I know of, since it was not added after year on the old iphone I wouldn't count on it. You should get used to just checking the iphone once in awhile for new messages, they will show up the home screen (sms and calls will). Since I use my cell phones as my watch that is what I do, but a simple beep or something indicating a new unread message would be nice when I am at home and don't check it as often while its sitting around some where.

  • I cannot recieve phone calls, SMS after 3.0 and credit is being eaten

On wednesday, like most iPhone users, i was waiting for 3.0, finally when it came i downloaded and everything seemed fine. But since then, i cannot recieve phone calls, nut sometimes i get the odd random phone call, SMS are extremely delayed or they dont even come at all. I've been looking at other forums for help. I have changed settings numerous times and i can recieve calls and SMS but i keep getting this message saying that i need 17p for internet roaming. I have never had this before. Long story short, got my iPhone for christmas, i used my old sim, mum used the other sim. Can anyone help me please?

yes. I've tried to reset and reboot 4 times since updating. Although, i've just posted in another thread a bit more relevant and it mentioned Push causing problems. Although mine was on (and always is) but is set to manual, (so you'd think it was like having it switched off). Anyway, i've switched Push to OFF (Settings> Mail, Contacts Calendar > Fetch New Data) and it seems to have solved it for now. How odd. The thread i mean is here http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=9661558#9661558

    Hello everybody,
I need a call & SMS blocker app for my 5800. I have Handy Blacklist but it deactivates itself a few hours later after I activate it. So I need a better one.

hi mate, what is available in the Nokia Store is all you are going to get unfortunately, as support for Symbian has ended.

  • Call - SMS - e-mail warning software

Looking everywhere for app that will warn me about missed call, SMS or e-mail. Most of other phones have LED or short beep as reminder until you check the message or call log. It must be something like that for iPhone.
Hope programmers take notice of this. Yesterday i missed important SMS for half day and that one was one too many I missed so far. Never happened to me with Blackberry.
    Thanks,
    Zack

  • Call+sms filter not work numbers are not blocked

    Lumia 530

What do you mean "Not blocked"? First of all, they are not technically blocked at all, they are "filtered" - texts are moved into a separate folder visible from the Call+SMS Filter in settings, likewise calls won't wing and you won't see the incoming call on screen, but it does come into the phone so that you can see who has called.
If you mean that you are still hearing the ring and seeing the incoming call on the display when a number is on the filter list, check how you have entered because that may impact on how the filter works. If you entered the numbers in the normal "national" format, try putting them in the international format "+[country code]", most of the world's networks always treat numbers in that format.

  • Call+sms filter on wp 8.1?

A question for folks running Cyan or WP 8.1. I rely heavily on the call+SMS filter. Is this option still present in the 8.1 upgrade?
We just got the new HTC One with WP 8.1 and found there is no call block option. Before we go trade for an Icon I need to make sure it is still there for WP 8.1

It's an add-on for Lumia, not part of the OS. So unless HTC creates an app it won't have this functionality.

  • Reminder sound for missed calls, SMS or voicemail????

I would like to find out whether the iPhone 3G has the capability of generating a reminder sound or vibrate when a call, SMS or voicemail was missed. Right now, I have to "wake-up" the screen to see. My old phone had that capability, and I thought it was very useful. If the phone itself can't do it, is there an application that can compensate for that missed feature? Thanks for your help.

I was just thinking about that the other day. On my former phones (treo, samsung flip, well ANY other former phone I've ever had) there was at least an led that would blink to tell me I missed a call, had a voicemail, etc...
With the iPhone I have to wake up the screen to see if I've missed a call. Pretty annoying. I love the iPhone but this is just one more thing on the list that makes it stand out from all the other phones out there (and not in a good way!)
    Oh well.
