Contact Ringtones not working
Does anyone else have this problem? All the downloaded ringtones wind up in my "music" file not in the default ringtone list. When I go into the music file and find the tone and say attach to contact, it says it did but when they call only the default ringer works. Also when you go into the contacts link it does shows the name of the ringtone I chose, but it is not in the list and nev

I had the same problem. I even returned my phone and got a new one because we thought it was the phone. VZW even placed a call to HTC with me on the line, and they had not heard of the issue either and suggested either repairing or replacing the phone.
What it turned out to be was an app killer I had installed on the phone. I forget which one, but its icon is the little green android figure with the red X next to it. Once I uninstalled the app killer, removed the battery from my phone and then rebooted it, I have had no further problems with my ring tones not working.
In the end, I bought the extended battery (3150) from www.seidioonline.com and now do not even need an app killer.

I have set different ringtones for some of my regular contacts. But somehow, the global/default ringtone always rings when those contacts call me.
Any idea why this happens and how this can be rectified?If the calling party supresses its phone number, the phone will not recognize them.
If they dont suppress - then it should work and I cant be of any help -
Custom contact ringtone not working correctly
Hi all! I have an iPhone 4 through Sprint. Yesterday I purchased a ringtone through iTunes on the phone, and assigned it to 1 contact. It shows as being assigned to that contact, however, when I get a call from that person, the default ringtone plays. I've since synced with iTunes on the computer, but I can't figure out why the assigned ringtone won't play. Can anyone help?
Does no one know how I can fix this?

the settings are gone, i guess. But even worse, I cannot get the iPad2 to play Full HD thru the Apple digital AV adaptor using apps that support (and advertise this), like AVPlayer HD. This definiteley used to work before one of the last iOS upgrades. (I am now at 5.1.1). -
I had somebody work on my OS 10.9.2 to speed it up. He failed and now Preview, Textedit, App Store, Mail (crashes) and Contacts do not work anymore. I can still use Safari, Firefox, Word, Photoshop and iPhoto etc. How do I get the Apple programs fixed again?
Try these in order testing your system after each to see if it's back to normal:
1. a. Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
b. Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
2. Restart the computer in Safe Mode, then restart again, normally. If this doesn't help, then:
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the
COMMAND and R keys until the Utilities menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the
computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager
screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
3. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
Reinstall the 10.9.2 update: OS X Mavericks 10.9.2 Update (Combo).
4. Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks: Reboot from the Recovery HD. Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks from the Utilities menu, and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
Reinstall the 10.9.2 update: OS X Mavericks 10.9.2 Update (Combo). -
For incoming calls ringtone not working
My incoming calls are only identifiable with display to ANSWER or DECLINE. I. Can get vibrate to work but ringtones not working. I am missing many calls
because of no ring. I did shut down my Bluetooth earpiece so unsure what happened.These are a couple of articles that might help.

Try a reset first then if that does not work, you might want to restore. -
The specific ringtone I assigned to a contact is not working. Only the default ringtone sounds off.
I'm using an iPhone 5s. The app I'm using on my iPhone is simply titled Ringtones with an orange music note inside a grey circle. I have assigned certain app created ringtones to specific contacts. However when one of those contacts calls me ONLY the main / general / default ringtone sounds off. I know the tones work because if they are assigned as the default ringtone that specific tone plays. I have tried other ringtones that were included on the iPhone (NOT app created) and those work when assigned to contacts. So it seems it's only the app created ringtones are not working when assigned to specific contacts. So far I've tried to correct the problem by:
1) Removing ringtones from phone and then downloading them again.
2) I've tried rebooting or performing a soft reset (pressing and holding the home button & power button until the apple logo appears).

Assigned ringtones not working
I have a 3gs (AT&T). Assigning a specific ringtone (whether custom or default with the phone) does not work. I have created a custom ringtone and can choose is as the default for all calls and it works fine as do any of the ringtones listed under sounds. I just cannot successfully assign a specific ringtone to a specific contact. Have reset; checked for duplicates; scoured the internet and found nothing that works. The phone software is current. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I found that the Task Manager by Rhythm Software was responsible for causing this problem. I removed the Task Manager and restarted my phone, and now I do not have a problem with assigned ringtones. -
On my new Iphone 4S my custom ringtones will not work when assigned to a contact, the ring always rings through to the Marimba default ringtone.

You may have a different problem than that of our friend here: it's probably a speck of dust or a piece of lint caught in the jack hole on the top part of your iPhone. Try this (and I'm not kidding, it's worked for me several times): bring the jack hole of your iPhone to your lips, and suck air through it. Do it several times, until you feel a little something hitting your tongue or the back of your mouth.
I know it sounds crazy, but I've had this same problem repeatedly since I got my iPhone in January; I'd keep my phone in my trousers pocket, and some tiny piece of lint would get caught in the jack hole, creating a false contact there and leading the phone to "think" that earphones were plugged in, hence no ringtone, nor music going through the external speaker. I read about this hint somewhere, and tried it just prior to bringing the phone back to the nearest Apple Store, and it worked. Now, every time my phone goes mute for no obvious reason, I suck air through the jack hole, and sure enough, it finds its voice back... -

I added a new contact to my iPhone 5, and after a day or two tried to find it from contacts. Resolt? NOWHERE..!!
I made all steps, before i write this question here. Tried almost(!) every help i found at sites. but didn't work.
Finally, I deleted the contact from my iPhone5, and added it at first at contacts. I made sync, and the new contact came to my phone..!
Please, what is wrong..??? This anomaly drives me crazy..!

PS. Before "Mavericks" was Mountain Lion, without problem...

First call I made I was told if I paid $79.00 I would receive assistance for a year.
They could fix my problem through my pc.
Well not paying.
Phone 1-800-APPLE and was told that because didn't pay for call display through
my provider it isn't going to work for me.
Seems they don't advise you of that when you are making a decision on buying a phone.
They at least could have put a *note saying function only works under specific conditions.
I would have checked that out first thing.
Lesson learned I guess. Now my provider supplies that option free for new plans but won't
apply it to mine. So much for customer service. This all within a couple of months.
Now if anyone has any information that would change what I was told please let me know.

My contacts appear to be fine. When I try to type in a letter in the look-up box to bring me to the contact name, it does not go to the correct letter I type in.
My keyboard types the correct letter in the look-up box but it does not take me to the contacts that start with that letter.
I tried 4.1.4 (no e) and found the same problem. I ran the palmhotsyncsetup.exe and it appears that all of the contacts synced.
I am frustrated so any direction would be appreciated.
Post relates to: Palm m500I am also having the same trouble. Using Palm Desktop 6.2.2 by Access on two Win 7 compters that as far as I know are the same. Using a Treo 655p between the two computers, sync working perfectly with bluetooth. In Contacts on one computer the lookup works perfectly, yet on the other computer the lookup which used to work began to bring up its own selection of contacts regardless of what I put in the lookup field. This problem was mentioned in the forum 11-12-2009 by Laurentiu but as fare as I could find was ignored. I even exported the contacts from the working machine, created a new user on the non-working machine and then imported the contacts and it still fails. I was hoping that doing this would regenerate the index, but that does not seem to be the problem either.
This seems to be either a problem relating to the Palm Desktop itself or maybe an add-in of some sorts, I wonder if I will need to re-install? Interesting (and good) that the other computer continues to work fine. -

Hi, i am unable to get contact search to work even after enabling it on the call screen. adaptive search under settings has also been turned on. can someone help?
Try the soft reset and if that does not help, do a hard reset. But remember to back up your device with Nokia suite.
Hard Reset:
Once backed up, enter *#7370# and when prompted, enter 12345 as the default passcode.
