How do I view contacts by group in E63? I tried scrolling right in the contacts list and all that came up were the connection options (voice call, send text message, etc.)? I really need this function as I need to group contacts by country for ease of search. Thank you.

It was easy on my sony ericssonn....do i need to download an app?

There is no group send option like you are looking for.
To send to a group you have to pick each person you want to send to and send as a group that way. Then don't delete that SMS thread and you can reuse it again later.
As for an app, well SMS works via your carrier and the OS, not something an App can do unless the app send the data to them (a third party) and then they relay it to the carrier. Do you really want to be sending your SMS to some 3rd party first?

  • How can I stop my iPhone from synching my contacts and groups lists twice?

How can I stop my iPhone from synching my contacts and groups lists twice....I am using iCloud but am not sure how correct this duplication.

Go into Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars. Is this happening at the bottom in the signature section, or in the header of the mail where your email address is? If it is the signature, then go to the Signature area of the Mail settings. If this is in the header, then go to the account in question and edit your account information to include your name instead of Johnny.

how do you get your contacts into groups?

When you ask a question, please include the version of Mac OS X on your computer. iOS is not a Mac operating system.
Assuming you are running OS 10.9.1:
Open Contacts. Click File in the menu bar and select New Group. Enter the name of the group in Contacts on the left.
Go back to All Contacts (on the left) then drag and drop the names you want in that group on to the folder you just named.
Repeat as necessary for other groups.
Note that the names remain, as they should, in All Contacts, even after you have added them to a group.. You can delete a group if you want. The names will still remain in All Contacts.

  • Ios 8.3 will not allow me to add a contact to group message

ios 8.3 will not allow me to add a contact to group message.  When I touch "Details" on a group message (says "Group MMS" at the top), THERE IS NO OPTION TO ADD CONTACT.  Why not?  iPhone 6.

I had tried that previously with no results. So, I changed the password with the provider. Next I resubmitted the ID and password, ignoring the Yahoo button, but instead choosing the Other button. It was successful. Sometimes it's necessary to change the playing field, rather than put up with the potholes. Thanks for your help.

  • Contacts and groups

is there a maximum number of contacts? is there a max # of contacts per group?
i want to set up some large email lists - if there is a max on verizon.net , will it work if i do it in outlook?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

For your verizon.net addressbook, you have a max of 300 entries. That includes individuals AND groups. So if you have 38 contacts and two groups, that makes 40 entries. If you use an email client, you will not have this restriction.
You cannot send to more than 100 contacts at a time using Verizon's servers, and no more than 500 in an hour. This is stated in their email policy here.
The following limits apply with respect to the sending of e-mail from your verizon.net e-mail account. These rules are in place in order to help fight spam (i.e., unsolicited e-mail). For more information on Verizon Online's efforts to fight spam, please see the Verizon Online Anti-Spam Policy.
You may not include more than 100 recipients in a single email. Messages will not be sent to any recipients in excess of 100.
You may not exceed 500 recipients in 1 hour. Exceeding 500 recipients in 1 hour will result in the suspension of your ability to send email for 24 hours. This does not affect your ability to receive email.
It is important to note that the restrictions on the number of recipients/messages apply regardless of whether you use verizon.net or an email client. If you need to send more messages, I'd suggest finding another outgoing server to use.

  • 2 contact lists ( Groups )

I have a complicated problem On my i phone 5s.
i have 2 contact lists ( Groups ) one under the name of I Cloud (750 contacts ) and the other under e-mail name( 650 contact ) some contacts are duplicated in both groups , the problem that i clouds only sync those contact under its name i can't find the other contact list over i cloud . anyone know how can i link both groups or copy the other contact list to i cloud

To copy the contacts from your email account to iCloud, do the following:
Go to Settings>iCloud, turn Contacts to Off, choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (any iCloud contacts will still be in iCloud).
Download the app My Contacts Backup.  (If you have more than 500 contacts to transfer from your email account, you will need the “Pro” version.)  Use the app to back up the remaining contacts on your phone (from the email account) as a vCard attachment to an email that you send to yourself.  Confirm that you have received the email.
Go to Settings>iCloud and turn Contacts back to On.
Go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Default Account (in the Contacts section) and set this to iCloud.
Go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars…tap the email account that you are syncing contacts with and turn off contacts syncing with this account (otherwise you will see duplicate contacts on your device).
Open the My Contacts Backup email and tap the attachment to import the contacts from the other accounts back to your device, and to iCloud.
All your contacts should now be in iCloud.  Since you mentioned that there were some contacts were in both your email account and your iCloud account, you will probably have some duplicates in iCloud now that you have consolidated them there.  If that's the case you'll have to go to icloud.com and manually delete these duplicates.

  • Assigning contact to groups

I can easily assign my contacts to one or more groups (using drag and drop) on the desktop application. How can I assign a new contact to one or more groups on my iphone 3g?
    Thanks, Martin

I don't know how this makes sense; a contact can be in many groups. Generally an appointment is only in one calendar.
You can always assign contacts to groups by dragging them to the group in Contacts.

  • ITunes, Sync Contacts, Selected groups is grayed out.

iTunes, Sync Contacts, Selected groups is grayed out.  I have a number of groups in my Contacts for different mobile phones.  After updating iTunes and the OS I can not click on Selected groups.  Does anyone know how to make this available?

Best I’ve been able to figure out via trying and searching:
It appears only groups in a cloud service can be selected, so if one doesn’t have iCloud groups or groups on some other supported cloud service, the option is grayed out.
    Big Brother wants it all.
Fortunately I don’t need many contacts on my iOS device since I use it little.
But it’s still annoying to be locked out ’cause me try to avoid Big Brother much as possible.
    What a world!

  • How do I move a contact from group A to group B

How can I move or manage my contacts between multiple groups

    Hello Buzzbeer2,
It sounds like you would like to move a contact from one group to another.  You can do this by dragging the contact from one group to the other and then deleting the contact from the original group.
Use the steps below to achieve this:
    Add contacts to a group
    Click All Contacts.
Drag one or more contacts from the All Contacts list to another group on the left.
You can add a contact to more than one group.
To select several adjacent contacts, click the first one, then Shift-click the last one. To select multiple nonadjacent contacts, Command-click them on a Mac or Control-click them on a Windows computer.
iCloud: Create a group and add contacts to it
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2667
Step 1 above says to select All Contacts, but you can also drag a contact from another group.  Once you have added the contact to the appropriate group, you can remove it from the previous group by following these steps:
Remove a contact from a group
Select the group the contact belongs to.  If you don’t see your groups, click the Groups button.
Choose Edit > Remove From Group.  The contact is removed from the group but stays in Contacts.
Contacts: Edit or delete contacts and groups

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Best,
    Sheila M.

  • I need help with my contacts in Groups

I have one question with Contacts on your iPhone I already have contacts in groups but when I press done on the top right of the screen it just shows all contacts but I want them in groups which I already have it set up but I think not the right way and this is with icloud because I want my contacts in groups so like Family and then if I want to get to a contact that is family that group would open up or friends and so on the same way as I said with Family Thanks!!
I hope that's not to confusing let me know

Here's an article that explains how to create contact groups in the Contacts app on your Mac: http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/how-to-organize-contacts-into-groups-in-mo untain-l.html.  Once you have created the groups you want, sync your mac with iCloud and these groups will appear on your phone.  This guide explains how to sync your mac with iCloud: http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/mac.html.
After you start syncing your Mac with iCloud, make sure you stop syncing the same data using iTunes.  If you don't, you'll end up with duplicates.  Make sure you don't check Sync Contacts or Sync Calendars, Mail or Bookmarks on the Info tab of your iTunes sync settings if you are syncing these with iCloud now.

  • I would like set up my contacts into groups.

I would like set up my contacts into groups.
There seems to be no way to do this in either iOS or OSX.  Android figured this out and I see no reason why Apple can't give us the capability to group medical contacts for example into an easily accessible group without having to resort to using Dr. as the first part of the last name in order to have them in a convenient group.
There are many posts that ask for this and Apple seems to have no desire to give us something useful in the entire spectrum of software while fiddling around with watches etc.

In the Contacts app in OS X click the "+" at the bottom and choose New Group. Once groups are created just drag the entries into the group list on the left in the Contacts app. You may have to go to the Contacts View menu and click Show Groups.
You cannot create groups in iOS, or assign contacts to groups using the built-in Contacts app. However, there are several 3rd party apps that allow you to move contacts among groups. I use Speed Names, but there are several others that people have told me are easier to use.

  • What do I do about contacts and groups not synced from iPhone to iCloud?

I've been syncing my contacts with my Mac (Snow Leopard, not Lion) via iTunes for years now. It's worked well enough, but I don't sync with my Mac that often (typically weeks between syncs), so I've worried a little bit about losing data entered on my iPhone before it gets on my Mac.
Before: Mac <-iTunes contacts sync-> iPhone
A week or so ago I backed up contacts, calendars and my whole iPhone (and my Mac) then upgraded my iPhone to iOS 5. It took a while (hours) but seemed to work.
Then I set up iCloud contact syncing.
    What I intended: Mac <-iTunes contacts sync-> iPhone <-iCloud contacts sync-> iCloud
After setting up iCloud contact sync, the trouble began.
I looked at my iPhone contacts and saw that instead of the half dozen groups they were organized into before, they were all in one iCloud group. I found I could make new groups and assign contacts to them on iCloud and they'd sync, but I'm not interested in redoing work organizing hundreds of contacts that iOS and iCloud lost for me.
Shortly I discovered that some contacts were just missing. Poof. Gone after the iCloud sync.
I've hesitated before syncing with my Mac again. I don't want to have the messed up groups and the deleted contacts propogate back to my Mac.
I've also hesitated because I don't see a way to disable iTunes contact syncing before actually plugging in my iPhone — the options for managing what gets synced only seem to appear when the iPhone is connected, and sync starts automatically.
    Suggestions for how to proceed?
    Thanks!

I found out how to disable automatic syncing:
In the device’s Summary pane, you can set iTunes to automatically sync your device when it’s attached to your computer. To temporarily override this setting, hold down Command and Option (Mac) or Shift and Control (PC) until you see your iPhone appear in the sidebar.
I'm still looking for suggestions about how to proceed to get contacts with groups synced.
    Thanks again!
