  • IOS 8 contact sharing

My wife and I have one set of contacts which we share for family business and work. The new iOS 8 does not allow us to share contacts across different Apple IDs. Since contact sharing is so important to our lives, family, and business, most of the family sharing options are worthless to me since we cannot share contacts. Is there anyway to share contacts across different Apple IDs. Currently we are using just one Apple ID for the new iOS 8 system. That pretty much makes find my friends worthless to us.

With iOS 7 you would open your camera roll or album, select the photo you wanted, click on send as a message, then it would take you to the text screen where you could see the photo being sent as it asked you for the recipient's phone. Now when I click on send as a message it takes me to the text screen, but as you can see, the photo is not attached. Same thing with a contact…I can click on "share contact as a text message" but when it takes me to the text screen, nothing is attached.

  • Contact sharing in OS 3.0 - privacy issue?

It's great that "Contact Sharing" is now available in 3.0, but how do I select which fields in the contact info I wish to share??
From what I can tell, the default setting is to send everything (including the notes field) which strikes me as absurd!? I make notes on almost every contact in my address book which are very personal and clearly I would be unlikely to want to share these... what i want to share is just name/phone number/address etc.
Is this just an oversight or am I missing an obvious piece of functionality??

hmmm, so it's an inherent limitation of using the vCard protocol? shame, it kinda makes it unuseable for me.
are you saying that you keep an edited duplicate of every card in your address book with minimal info solely for the purpose of being able to send them via vCard should the need arise?
if so, wow. that's quite a workaround...
i think i'll just find a paid app that allows me to edit the info i send.
Apple, if you're reading this, it would be great if you could figure out a way to have an option to trim the notes field from vCards before sharing them - this would be the optimal solution.

  • Error message with pics and contact sharing

all text messages that include a photo or a contact sharing info come across with the message" you can visit my text message at www.mms.... or something to this extent. MMS is turned on and I am using a 3gs iphone with the latest update

If you are in the U.S., your iPhone is running the current firmware and you have installed AT&T's carrier update for the iPhone which is required for this - done via iTunes, contact AT&T customer or technical support to check if MMS is provisioned for your line/number.

  • Contacts shared via iMessage not added after "create new"

Shan someone shares a contact with me thru iMessage, I try to add it to my contact list by tapping it in the conversation and selecting "create new contact". A small window appears with a preview of the new contact info. When I press "done" nothing happens. The window disappears, the contact is not in my contact list.  iMessage search for that contact name does not return anything. IPad search does not return on the contact name either.
    On/off, reset do not fix.

    Hi!
    An update
We tried the things mentioned in this SDN thread, but it is still the same error ( ESH_COCKPIT returns error - Connection GUID xxx has no connection data )
First we ran ESH_DELETE_DATA_FOR_LOGSYS and then we deleted the entries in the tables ESH_OM_LOGSYS and ESH_OM_LOGSYSA.

  • Outlook 2013 not properly indexing shared contacts

I'm having an issue where Outlook 2013 does not appear to be properly indexing most shared contacts. These contacts can be found using the "advanced
find", but this is a bit cumbersome and not the desired solution since this is a feature we use to use very frequently in Outlook 2010 without issue. More details:
    Account is Office365
    Connected via domain
    Contacts shared via GAB
An advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

    Hi,
Since they can be found in “advanced find”, I believe the index on the Exchange side is fine. You may also ask this question on Outlook forum:

  • I want to sync my Outlook calendar with iCloud but NOT my contacts

I use Outlook at home (on a PC using Windows 7) and that's where the vast majority of my work is done.
I would like to use iCloud on the PC to synchronize my Outlook calendar with my other iOS devices (iPhone, iPad), but I do NOT want my contacts shared.
When I go to the iCloud control panel on my PC, there is a single box to select Calendar and Contacts - but I don't see a way to do calendar and not contacts.
Does anyone know how this can be done?

    Not possible.

  • Location of Contacts Server Files

    Hi,
Where are the files placed on the server when a user creates/imports/manages their Contacts on a Mountain Lion Server Contacts Server?
Example: I have a Mountain Lion Server running the latest 10.8.2 updates with Contacts sharing turned on in the Server app.
Client user on another machine adds the server to their Contacts book and begins putting contacts into their account, creating groups on the server and placing contacts into those groups.
I want to back this up on the server side of things, so that I don't need access to all the clients.
    Thanks in advance.

You do NOT want to change the bundled CSS files. Create your own CSS and include it in the template after the built-in CSS include. Any classes you create in your own file of the same name and specificity as the built-in classes will override those classes. For example:<style type="text/css">
    td.myclass{color:red}
    td.myclass{color:blue}
</style>The color of the text in a table cell with the class "myclass" will be blue, not red, since the same class was defined twice, it will use the one that came last on the page.
If you change the classes in the built-in template CSS files, you'll change them for everyone using your APEX instance, which is not a particularly good thing to do.

  • How to share contact including photo between iPhones?

I tried iMessage and e-mailing a vCard, but neither method transfers the contact along with their photo between an iP5 and an iP4.
    What is the correct method?

True, but of course, they may not already have a photo if they don't have the contact info. I'd say that was more likly the case.
My wife, for instance, doesn't keep photos of all of our friends on her phone, but does sometimes need a copy of the contact info I have.
I imagine that mostly, the photo would be useful and if the recipient of the contact info does indeed have their own photo, they can substitute it easily.
Less easy however, by quite some way, is the need to use a photo received by e-mail separately, because you also can't copy/paste an image from an e-mail into a contact.
You need to save the image into the Camera Roll and then choose it from within the Contacts app.
Also, who's to say the sender of the contact info actually has the image to send by e-mail in the first place? Often the one attached to the contact is the only version on the phone.
Contact Sharing is supposed to be very simple and this missing function makes it a more complex procedure IMHO.
Don't get me wrong, I love my iP5 (I don't sleep with it or anything), as I did the iP4 before that and the iP3GS before that, but this missing feature is a real shame considering the cost of these devices and their otherwise excellent "ease of use".
I must admit, I do find it quite interesting on here that no matter how poor an implimentation is on the iPhone, everyone is extremely protective of Apple, to the point of coming up with half reasons for a simple feature not to exist.
I shall feed back to Apple.

    hmmmmm.
do you have a feel for the times at which the crashes have occurred?
if so, let's have a look in your Event logs to see if there's any info showing up in there about the crashes.
right-click "My Computer" and select "Manage". click "Event Viewer".
have a look through the Application and System logs to see if there are any error or warning events that consistently coincide with the itunes crashes.
if you find a candidate type of event (or events), click on an example of each one to bring up a small window. note down the Source, Event ID and Description of each event, and report back with your findings.

  • Lumia 620 contacts

Hello! I think I'm missing some important features on WP8 Lumia 620, I can't copy my contacts to my SIM, I can't have contacts only in the phone memory without sync to external servers, mainly microsoft live. Am I correct? When are they going to fix this bug or come up with apps to sort it? I think you can't have your contacts shared on a server there's privacy and security issues, the server can be hacked, have problems, whatever happens it's unsafe. I'd rather prefer manage my contacts on my own. Anyone else wishing to have a choice if to sync or not sync? Or maybe I'm missing something...anyone?
    Cheers

Do you think a lawyer would share his court cases in windows live using office? or add their client list in windows live? I'm not sure you are understanding the problem, it's a question of sharing, damage and losses, beside that there's also privacy issues, for these reasons I'd add a choice. For myself I prefer to keep my personal things in my pocket, computer and my drawers rather than online. The online banking it's totally different because the bank is responsible for any fraudolent action or losses of data and money from their servers and again investments are not passing through any online banking....anyway having said that ...android gives you that choice. Online banking is also taken more seriousely ..hopefully, they are not collecting and reselling your details to third parties and security measures are much more than for normal servers, infact it's usually the client rather than the bank server leaking information. And anyway I like choices, freedom and have a device that can do whatever I want and I choose to do.

  • Public Folders with Contacts vs Address Book

Which is the better approach: public folders with contacts or setting up an address book?
I want to set up some sort of address book to hold details of some of our major clients. Rather than each person maintaining his/her own address list the plan is for everyone to maintain a single list. As soon as we deal with a "new" contact at
one of our clients that person's details go into the central list and we all benefit.
In the past we've used public folders. However, it seems to me that they are quite a hassle with OWA so i was wondering why we don't simply create a new address book with:
New-AddressList -Name "MyCo – Customers" -RecipientFilter "(CustomAttribute1 -eq 'MyCo') -and (ObjectClass -eq 'Group')" -RecipientContainer "ad.ilbs.co/Habitats/myco"
    or should I use New-OfflineAddressBook -Name ...
Our team run a variety of systems (Windows and Mac) and a variety of phones (mostly IOS and Android)
    Roger

    Hi Roger,
According to your description, you want to share the contact which is created by each client users in OWA and Outlook to all other domain users for contact sharing. Is it right?
If that is the case, the Public Folder is an option to achieve this as you mentioned. For address list in server side, only the administrators who have related permission to Exchange server can create an address list in Exchange server generally.
For client users, they can’t create the address list for all other users using, though the contact folder permission is set to reviewer for all other users.
If you are using Public Folder contact (default folder permission set to Author), each user can create contacts in this folder and the contact can be visible for all users. Then the client user can do the following settings in Outlook to
manually add the Public Contact to address book:
    1. In Outlook, open Public Folder.
    2. Right-click Public Contact folder, select Properties.
    3. In Outlook Address Book tab, check Show this folder as an e-mail Address Book.
    4. Click OK to save the setting.
Then the Public Contact folder should be added in the Address Book.

  • What is the maximum number of contacts Address Book will support?

We are a small business who have recently switched over to Kerio Connect. We are currently using Mac Address Book to store & share contacts (sharing via MobileMe), but have been told by our IT support company that we have too many contacts (approx. 4500) and Address Book will not support this many. They have said that this is why we are having issues with contacts emails and phone numbers scrambling. Is there a limit to the amount of contacts that Address Book will support?

Having values shuffle in the fashion described is indicative of a database corruption or an application bug, and that can (also) effect performance.  I'd suggest trying to get a footprint of that problem, and then report it to Apple.
And there is no "lol" matter here.  4500 is a comparatively large number of contacts for Address Book Server, and no, AB doesn't tend to scale all that well and isn't (per information attributed to Apple) intended as a shared contact store.
See this thread and (as you'll learn as you read that thread) make certain your DNS configuration is valid.  Within that thread, specifically see Dr Timbo's post circa Dec 14, 2010 7:31 PM in that thread, and Strontium90's post circa Dec 23, 2010 3:03 PM.
Just because there's an SQL database underneath doesn't imply that the design will scale, nor that the application will have acceptable performance.  It's possible for an SQL database to have millions of records and to run fast, and it's equally possible for a database to have several dozen records and the application can run slowly.
