Contact Sheet II Function CS - Resolution altering from pixels/inch to pixels/cm

I am using CS3 with MAC OS X 10.4.11 when I create a contact sheet using File>Automate>Contact Sheet II, I set the 'Resolution' to 72 Pixels/Inch however once the contact sheet is created and I check the image size it has been reset to 28.346 Pixels/cm. This did not happen in CS2
Does anyone know why this is happening? It is annoying as I have to manually reset the Resolution to Pixels/Inch for each Contact Sheet
Thanks heaps
Di

Hi Ramon,
Thanks for your suggestion, however the Preferences> Units and Rulers setting does not have anything to do with the Contact Sheet function. The Contact Sheet function itself asks for the Units (which I set to 'cm' as I want to specify the contact sheet dimensions in cm's). The 'Resolution' is a separate setting that I set to 'Pixels/Inch'. I have a friend who is doing exactly the same thing as me and the Resolution gets set correctly as 'per/inch' in the final contact sheet. Their Unit/Rulers preference setting is CM so this proves that it is not related to the contact sheet function.
The reason I don't think that the preferences is the issue is because this behavior is happening on 3 separate installations on 3 separate machines.
I will try this anyway and see how I go?
Cheers
Di

  • HELP! Different colors in Single print vs Contact Sheet print

Aperture 1.5.1, G5, 10.4.8, Apple 30" display, Kodak 1400 Dye Sub printer, Canon 350D, shooting RAW.
I have a few pictures and I want to print them. They are baby pictures so picture a little baby in standard issue baby yellow tee shirt and wrapped in baby yellow blanket.
I select four pix and go to print images. In Single Images I set it up as Kodak 1400, Color sync profile Kodak 1400 Glossy, no color correction and changes in printer settings. I then do a preview and the images are prepared and displayed in Preview and they look fine.
With the same four images, in Contact Sheet I set it up as Kodak 1400, Color sync profile Kodak 1400 Glossy, no color correction and changes in printer settings. I then do a preview and the images are prepared and displayed in Preview and they look like ****. Baby's yellow cloths are blown out to almost white. The off white wall behind mother and baby is blue.
I've tried several setups and tweaks and I always get the same result. One print on a page looks great, contact sheets look like ****. It's like the contact sheet setup is using completely different color settings than the single sheet setup.
Unfortunately you can't morph a working single sheet into a contact sheet. They have to start from different places (create new single vs create new contact)

  • 64bit Contact sheet II in Bridge CS5

    Hello, Adobe....
    are you listening to anybody????
MANY of us use the contact sheet II plugin every day... it is ridiculous to have to restart in 32 bit to use this....
Do any of the developers of this app actually take photographs and deliver them to clients or editors???
WHAT IN THE WORLD ARE YOU THINKING???
Has anyone started a petition to fix this?  I'm already pining for CS4 except that I need ACR updated... yes, once again I am starting to hate adobe
    tom

    Hello, Adobe....
    are you listening to anybody????
As you might know or not, this is a user to user forum and if you want to address Adobe you should contact them directly.
Besides that it is a well known fact that Adobe discontinued the development of the contact sheet script long ago, I believe with CS4 but the script for PS did not change since CS1 or even before as I try to recall.
The replaced this with the Adobe Output Module (AOM) in Bridge itself (Workspace 'Output' or the rightest icon top left icon row in Bridge window) and in CS5 you have a lot of options to create a contact sheet to your own wishes. You can't save as jpeg but you can as a PDF.  In the AOM itself you can choose various settings but if you have Acrobat Pro you also can do a lot more with this contact sheet.
AOM is still far from perfection but the difference between the first and the second version is huge, which you can't say from the Contact sheet script.
As a service they still deliver the script as a Goodie but you really should give the AOM a second (or even maybe a first) look to explore it. I to was one of the people that did not like the discontinuing of the contact sheet script but that is for me long forgotten and I use the Output Module very often and always to satisfaction.
As said, there is enough room for improvement for the AOM but since I got to know it a bit better I really don't have the need for the old script anymore, (and nor do my clients, designers and editors btw ).

  • Contact sheet 2 for bridge CS5

Contact Sheet 2 for Bridge has disappear from Bridge CS 5. Does someone know where I can get the plugin? Right know I have to go back to Bridge CS4 which is pretty annoying in my process. Thanks

Contact Sheet 2 for Bridge has disappear from Bridge CS 5. Does someone know
where I can get the plugin? Right know I have to go back to Bridge CS4 which
is pretty annoying in my process. Thanks
It did not disappear from CS5 but already from CS4 and has been replaced
    with the Output Module.
Only downside of the Output Module is you can only save them as a PDF file
but for the rest you have far more options to create your own customized
template (and in CS5 save this templates) for far more superior contact
    sheets.
You did already placed the old contact script in the CS4 edition by
yourself. There is a workaround to get it again in CS5 only you have to use
PSCS5 in 32-bit mode because the old and long ago discontinued Contact Sheet
script is not compatible with the 64 bit mode PSCS5 is written in.
    Find your CS4 Contactsheet plugin (Apllications / PSCS4 / Plug-ins/Automate/
ContactSheetII.plugin) and copy this to the same path in CS5
Wiith PSCS5 closed select the application icon and choose get info. Inhere
put a checkmark in front of 'start in 32 bit mode'.
See also this Knowledge base article:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4047
To be honest, I was not pleased either first time they dropped
ContactSheetII. But after heaving explored the Output Module in Bridge and
getting used to it's nice options I really don't want to go back to the old
    script...

  • I have several issues that I hope you can help me out with. I am a professional photographer with a Mac with OS X 10.9.4: - I can only make ONE contact sheet in CS6 (from AUTOMATE) from pictures indicated in Bridge. If I want to make another contact sheet

I have several issues that I hope you can help me out with. I am a professional photographer with a Mac with OS X 10.9.4:
    - I can only make ONE contact sheet in CS6 (from AUTOMATE) from pictures indicated in Bridge. If I want to make another contact sheet I need to shut down and restart CS6.
    - Camera RAW: if I change any setting in Camera RAW (except exposure), having first optimized the exposure, the exposure will automatically return to zero. Sometimes when I've set exposure and cropped the picture in Camera RAW Plug-In, the effects are lost just by opening the picture in CS6.
    - Sometimes if I crop a picture in Camera RAW, it may be impossible to open it again from Bridge!
    - I cannot do lens corrections in Camera RAW, at all. The Camera RAW comment is that "it cannot load the correct lens type". Why?

Are you writing that when you select  a large number of images in the bridge  like a hundred thumbnails  when you then use Bridge menu Tools>Photoshop>Contact Sheet II that Photoshop only produces a single contact sheet for the first few thumbnails and fails to produce additional contact sheets for the other selected thumbnails? Photoshop contact sheet II script should create as many contact sheet as needed  for the numbers of thumbnails selected.  Perhaps the script is hung or you have exhausted  your machine resources.
ACR Crop tool does not crop the RAW file it records crop settings to be used during the conversion process.    Camera RAW DATA is not altered.  The only changes made to RAW Files is ACR Metadata may be added.  Anything you do in ACR can be un-done in ACR.    If you can not open a RAW File in ACR the Files is either corrupt or from a new camera ACR does not support yet.  ACR should not corrupt RAW files.
If you do not have a lens profile for ACR I think you should still be able to do lens correction manually in ACR.
Some of what you write I don't follow could you post some screen captures of your problems often a picture helps.

  • Creating pdf contact sheets at screen resolution using aperture/photoshop

Can anyone advise me on how to create a pdf document of contact sheets- low resolution [72 screen res]that is less time consuming than the present work flow described below?
At present I export jpegs 450pxl 72dpi from aperture. create contact sheets in photoshop and then
create a pdf in photoshop. Average number of images per client is approx 800-1000,
The pdf I have created with aperture has a resolutuin of 300dpi- which is a large file to email etc. I have tried reimporting the 450pxl jpegs but aperture still creates the document at 300dpi.
    Is it possible ...
1/. to solely use aperture to create low res pdf's
2/. If not is it possible to create an action in photoshop [or use automator] to speed up the process described above?
I do have a little experience using actions in photoshop but am by no means an experienced user.

Awesome! I didnt even know aperture could do that
Now another quick question on this topic, if im using RAW files, does aperture need to convert the file to jpeg or tiff (like it does if you export version as jpeg)?
If it does, that may be a problem as it takes forever for aperture on my macbook to convert raws and save as jpegs, like a good minute or two per photo, and if i have 200odd photos....not good, people will crack it waiting and leave.
Or does it print as raw? Cause im pretty sure my printer (or any printer) can not print raw files. Will try it tonight on my printer but a heads up will be useful.
I could just shoot in hi-res jpeg, but id rather shoot raw incase they want a large poster size print etc.
    Thanks.

  • Contact Sheet II from RAW files?

I'd like to be able to use the Contact Sheet II to make a print as early in the composite Workflow as I can, before opening the RAW images in ACR. Is it possible to make a Contact Sheet II while the images are still RAW files? From Bridge 6, they appear in PS 6 as Layers. I'd appreciate any help. Thanks.

PC users can install CS5 Contact Sheet II plugin into CS6 to get Picture Package back there are 64 bit and 32 bit versions for the PC. Mac users can not install CS5 Contact Sheet II plugin into CS6 for there is only a CS5 32 bit Contact Sheet II plugin for mac and there is only a 64 bit CS6 Photoshop for a mac.

  • Contact Sheets from Multiple Folders: Can it be done?

CS3 Photoshop had a function under Automate, that allowed you to make contact sheets of images within a specific folder and include subfolders within that.
Im not seeing that in CS4.
Im not seeing it in Bridge CS4 either.
    Is it still possible?
    And how if it is?

I had been making contact sheet from the bridge using CS3 with no problem till a week ago when after completing the contact sheet, I get an error message saying that there was a program error, and photoshop locks up. • I can't install "Contact Sheet II" from the optional plug-ins

I went to this page to download, install and most importantly of all use the "contact sheet" feature (a feature that was - for some mysterious reason - "removed as an update" on CS5!)

When I tried to install the plug-ins, however, this message came up :
    http://www.solidfiles.com/d/6eb800b218/
This is a perfectly fine example of a feature that was great and was removed during an update. What is really the point of an update that removes features, I don't know... surely it's not the weight of the script! (900ko)

  • I have a contact sheet of photos how can I quickly import the individual photos from the 9 photo contact sheet without edit each one then having to reimport contact sheet

I have a full contact sheet of 9 photos which I have imported. How do I take each individual photo and save it without having to edit from the contact sheet each time as this forces me to reimport the contact?

You can't. If you have a sheet with 9 shots on it and you want to make 9 individual shots you'll need to either
    Import 9 times
    Or
    Duplicate 8 times
    And crop accordingly.

  • Print Images' Contact Sheet problems from specific camera...

I have printed a couple contact sheets (Print Images > Contact Sheet), and all the thumbnails for RAW files from a Panasonic DMC-LX2 all come out squooshed into a square, no matter what the actual orientation of the file is. I have forced an update of the previews and there is no change. Is this a common problem for others? In the preview for printing single images to a page, the images appear normal, but with contact sheets the images from this camera come out square. No problems with my Canon files or other JPGs.
I suspect there is no work-around, but ask just in case. It would be nice if there is, as the contact sheets are for a copyright registration, and the square makes the image possibly illegible in the eyes of a future court, if it ever got to that.

HAs this already been discussed and fixed? hopefully?
It appears to be a bug.

  • Contact sheets. Am I asking too much from LR

In my workflow I need to get 'printed' contact sheets out ASAP for public to look at, note file numbers, then view on screen > hopefully purchase.
I have produced a contact template 16up and on average we print 10-18 sheets at a time.
The time it takes to print is not viable (anything from 2 minutes (rare) - 20 minutes, average 15 mins +)
I have set to draft mode printing, increased my RAM to 12GB (from 4)
and the average file is about 3000 pixels.
I have set the Activity Monitor (Mac 10.8.4) to watch and there seems to be no 'page outs'
and the CPU and free space seem to be within their limits.
I have also tried to PDF and to Jpeg file, but this seems to take as long.
Also tried on LR3, LR4.4 & LR5 Trial, no difference.
Am I asking too much of my OS or LR.
    Any input appreciated
    Thanks
    P.S.
saw 1 or 2 other posts suggesting Draft Mode made a massive difference even to big files, but not to mine.
Pages seem to load fairly quick at first, then hang.
May be my imagination, but the time to print seems to be increasing

After much searching I think I may have found the solution ?
We were creating 1:1 previews by editing the photos before printing to contact sheets.
The 1:1 Previews is what seemed to be causing the hold up.
    So to remedy this
In Library > Library Menu > Previews > Discard 1:1 Previews > All photos
It then printed out the contact sheets at a fair rate of knots.
(I believe once you go back to loupe and zoom in, it then creates the 1:1 Preview again)
22 pages with 349 images ave. 3,500 pixels per photo = 12 seconds (compared to 20 mins to never),
    obviously + printing time.
    Quick silly question though ??
I take it if I have minimal preview settings this will not infringe the quality of the larger printed copies ?
(I take it, it is just that, a preview ?)
I would also have thought that LR would have found a solution to this before now
or at least provided some sort of info / tutorial / remedy.
Looking at the results from people having problems with this goes way back to LR2/LR3.

I can not figure out nor am I sure it can be done with these programs but if someone out there can tell me how I would be very happy. I have several jobs I need contacts on I have been printing contact sheets and then handwriting the file numbers. To old fashion for me. HELP

    1. In the browser pane in Aperture, select the images you need.
    2. File>Print...
    3. On the left-hand side of the print dialog, click on 'Sample Contact Sheet Preset'.
    4. In the layout options there is a drop-down menu for which metadata set you want to show below the images. You may get away with using 'Name Only' which gives you the current Version Name, otherwise you may have to make a new metadata set* containing just the filename.
