Contact Sheet image rotation problem

When using the Contact Sheet f
unction of CS4, some of the images are rotated 180
degrees on the sheet.  Some of them are right side up and some are rotate
d.  Changing the "rotate for best fit" checkbox has no
affect.
Has anyone else had
this problem??
Thanks.
Jim

Hi captianbob,
Make sure that you have not selecte primary only (look in the edit menu, can be toggle with the S key)
You can promote or demote images in the stack, see the Stacks menu.
You can always create an album or smart album and use that to play you slideshow.
Just an advice, if you have multible questions you should make seperate posts.
Best regards - Per.

  • Contact sheet images are grayed out

    I have made an album of black and white images and want to print them as a series of contact sheets. The sheets look good when customized, but when I tell it to print, all but the first two of the previewed images are grayed out and not worth printing. Is this an iPhoto or a printer problem or something I'm missing? The images were converted from B&W film negatives. This happens whether using the Macbook Pro or the Macbook.

    what color profile do they have? If it is gray scale it will not work - they must have sRGB as the color profile for use with iPhoto (they will still display and print black and white)

  • Image Rotation Problem in LR 3.2RC

    Anyone else having an issue with image rotation in Lightroom 3.2C?
    Here's what happens:
    I import images from my card. There are a combination of images taken horizontally and vertically. The vertical images come in sideways (horizontally). This is no big deal: maybe the cameras I was using in this case (Olympus E-PL1 and Panasonic GF1) don't properly mark the orientation.
    So, in Grid view,  I select one of the improperly orientated images and click the "Rotate Photo Left" arrow in the toolbar. Here's where it gets weird. Instead of rotating the image 90-degrees counter clockwise, the thumbnail rotates about 45-degrees, so now it's crooked in Grid view. However, on my second monitor, the image now looks properly orientated.
    I've tried rotating using the menu (Photo menu / Rotate Left) and got the same result. If I repeatedly rotate, it ends up in all sorts of odd positions in grid mode.
    What's up with this? Is it just me?

    Restarted Lightroom and all looks good now. I'll be interested to see if the problem returns next time I import images.
    UPDATE: I spoke too soon. Closed LR3 and opened it again. No, the cockeyed thumbnails are not saved at their odd angles. But they still don't match the image shown on my 2nd monitor (or on my main monitor either if I go to Loupe View). The Grid view image might show the vertical image lying on its side (horizontal), even though the 2nd monitor shows it in the correct orientation.
    This happens with horizontal images too if I try to rotate them - something I tried just now but wouldn't normally need to do.
    Trying to rotate the thumbnail again results in the cockeyed thumbnail. If I then CLICK on that thumbnail, it straightens out, but never in the correct orientation. Here's a screen grab:
    Something seriously wrong here. Something that NEVER happend in Lightroom 3 until I installed version 3.2RC. So, I doubt that it's a video card problem - looks like a bug to me.

  • Image rotator problem on Dreamweaver site

    Hi I am running into a problem on my main index site. If you look at the image rotator on the very top of the page http://oldfortestates.com/index.htm via firefox (only that browser) you will see that there is a flashback of some of the images before it moves to the next image. I tried everything and can't figure it out. However if you look at the page http://oldfortestates.com/index_test.htm where I took out the info of the body of the page you will see that it is working fine and there is no flashback, however as soon as I include the information in the body the images once again do the same flashback. I need to find a way to have the full page without the flashback. Any assistance would be appreciated.

    I realized that it is the exfeat addon which is causing the problem below. Once it is on the page it interfers with the image rotator to the top. There must be a way for it to work without the interference.

  • Photoshop CS5 Image Rotation Problem

    Hi:
    I have recently found out that I am having a problem with image rotation in CS5.  If I have a Background layer and jump the layer to duplicate it and then set the jumped layer to Flip Horizontal both the jumped layer AND the Background layer are flipped horizontally as if they are linked in some way.  The only work around that I could come up with was to duplicate the document, flip the layer in the duplicate and then combine the documents.  It works but what a pain.  As anybody else experienced this problem?
    Herman R.

    Charles:
    My Background was locked and only the jumped layer was selected.
    However, the "problem" grows more intriguing.  I tried using Duplicate Layer rather Command J (is there a difference between these two??) and was pleasantly surprised to find that the problem disappeared!!  I then went back to Command J and still had the same problem.  To make a long story short, I went back and forth several time and then even the jumped layer worked as it should.  It was as if it had "learned" the correct behavior!  I tested it now ony several documents and all is fine.  Does this make any sense to you?

  • Image Rotate Problem?

    I'm using Jimi Rotate class to rotate the image. It is rotating the image. But what happens black lines are added around the image.
    How to solve this problem?
    public Image rotateImage(BufferedImage bi, int pos)
            ImageProducer source = bi.getSource();
            Rotate rot;
            if(pos == 0)
                rot = new Rotate(90);
            else
                rot = new Rotate(-90);
            FilteredImageSource fis = new FilteredImageSource(source, rot);
            return new JimiCanvas().createImage(fis);
    }

    I have tried with another code also for rotate image. It is working properly. But what happens while using remote desktop connection and using this application to rotate the image. The Image is changing into Blue Color. Sometime In single PC itself I'm getting this problem.
    How to solve this problem.
    public Image rotateImage(BufferedImage bi, int pos)
            new_bi = new BufferedImage(bi.getHeight(),bi.getWidth(),bi.SCALE_FAST);
            Graphics2D g2d = new_bi.createGraphics();
            AffineTransform at = g2d.getTransform();
            AffineTransform rotation = new AffineTransform();
            if(pos == 0)
                rotation.rotate( (-1) * Math.PI / 2, bi.getWidth() / 2, bi.getHeight() / 2);
            else
                rotation.rotate( Math.PI / 2, bi.getWidth() / 2, bi.getHeight() / 2);
            g2d.transform(rotation);
            if(pos == 0)
                g2d.drawImage( bi, null, (bi.getWidth() / 2 - new_bi.getWidth() / 2 ) * -1, (bi.getHeight() / 2 - new_bi.getHeight() / 2));
            else
                g2d.drawImage( bi, null, (bi.getWidth() / 2 - new_bi.getWidth() / 2 ), (bi.getHeight() / 2 - new_bi.getHeight() / 2) * -1);
            g2d.setTransform(at);
            return new JimiCanvas().createImage(new_bi.getSource());
    }

  • LR 3 Contact Sheet Caption Problem

    I am using LR 3.0 on a Win XP machine.  I want to print a multiple line caption below each picture on a multi-row, multi-column contact sheet using the single image contact sheet layout style.  I have set up a preset in the photo info panel with the information I want and how I want it to appear below each image on the contact sheet.
    My problem is after I have everything set as I want and see in the first page when I select another set of images or another page the preview will only show the first line of the multi-line caption.  I have to make some change to any one item in the layout panel such as change a margin or cell spacing or change to another layout and back in the photo info panel for all lines of the caption to appear. If this is not done, the actual print will only show one line of the caption.  The multi-line caption worked fine in LR 2.
    I have searched forums, blogs, etc for help and have not found an answer to my problem.  Has anyone experience this problem and found a solution?

    Hi there
    Seems like it is a bug - if so you can report it to Apple by choosing Provide Aperture Trial Feedback from the Aperture menu within the program.
    Printing seems to be the main thing from prevent AP3 from being useful to me currently, inability to make presets 'stick', border printing around an image even when no border is selected. There's probably more problems in printing but I'm kind of disheartened to use it to find any more, it's cost me a lot of wasted time already.
    Take care

  • Creating InDesign Contact Sheets

    I just upgraded to CS3 from CS2.
    I am trying to use Bridge to create InDesign contact sheets.
    The problem is when I am in Bridge CS3 and go to Tools > InDesign > Create InDesign Contact Sheets, I can not get Bridge CS3 to recognize photos in sub folders.
    Bridge CS2 had a "Files" button that would open a window that had a "Include Sub Folders" button. That button has been removed in Bridge CS3.
    Any ideas on how to tell Bridge CS3 to include sub folders when creating InDesign contact sheets.
    Thanks

    It can be a little convoluted from a logic perspective, but search for "filename does not equal" and, to find all files, set the value to something stupid like "#@#@#@#@"
    Check "Include All Subfolders". If there's any chance you haven't browsed all of the subfolders in bridge (to build the caches for those subfolders), check the "Include Non-indexed Files (may be slow)" checkbox.
    I wrote the Contact Sheet script as a contractor for Adobe. I removed the "Files" button because Bridge actually does a much better job of filtering and finding files than the "Find" button ever could.
    The "Find" button encouraged people to not use Bridge to its best advantage. I got a number of emails from folks wanting more functionality in the "Find" button than was possible (via scripting) when everything they needed was available in Bridge!
    By the way, I am planning on releasing a updated and more feature-rich contact sheet (for InDesign) script in the coming weeks. Check my web site for it in mid-late October.

  • Image rotation in contact sheet

    Hi
    I've just come accross a problem when creating a contact sheet with images that were organised and rotated using Bridge.
    When creating contact sheets I like to have the thumbnails rotated the correct way up. So I deselect 'rotate for best fit' but after the process is finished I realise that the sheet has been created with the thumbnails in landscape view regardless of the images that are portrait.
    I've also tried selecting the 'rotate for best fit' but the same thing happens.
    Can anyone help me?

    Based on your post, you're using the InDesign contact sheet.
    Bridge does not rotate the image. It sets a metadata flag. Photoshop recognizes this flag, InDesign CS3 does not (I haven't tried it in CS4 yet).
    I will be writing a new version of the contact sheet script over the next few weeks.
    The features I will be adding:
    Ability to save multiple dialog settings
    Improved dialogs
    Heed rotation metadata
    Bring back the ability to include subfolders
    Regards
    Bob

  • CS4 Bridge - Image and Contact Sheet Problems (Windoze)

    Problem #1: Out of shear chance, the first directory that I picked on that contains press images, resulted in Bridge not displaying thumbnails, or even being able to work with the image, because Bridge declares that the JPEG file is not a JPEG image. But, here is the kicker, when creating the thumbnails, it does briefly display a thumbnail before replacing it with the JPEG icon. There is nothing wrong with the images as Photoshop CS4 has no problem working with the same images. Double-clicking on the JPEG icon in Bridge results is it calling Photoshop to display the image. Lastly the images were created with Photoshop CS3 on a MAC, as indicated in the EXIF data. I haven't tracked down a pattern yet, as I just installed the software last night. Even so, there is no way that Bridge should have trouble reading CS3 produced JPEG images, but it does.
    Problem #2: With the old contact sheet method, one could tell the plugin to include all sub-directories. I can't find a way to get Bridge to do the same thing. If it is there, it certainly is not user friendly. There was nothing online, or in the manual, about how to do that. While I like the idea of producing a PDF of the contact sheets, getting there is not so simple. I'm new to Bridge, having never having the need to use it prior to this release.
    Any help with these two problems will be appreciated.

    If Bridge can not show the thumbnail, Output workspace can not generate the PDF or web gallery for this image. Because it use the Bridge's DOM to process those images.
    For the subfolder issue, you could use the Bridge's 'Show Items from sub-folder'. You could find this option from the directly path list at the tool bar, or from Menu View->Show Items from submenu.

  • Print Images' Contact Sheet problems from specific camera...

    I have printed a couple contact sheets (Print Images > Contact Sheet), and all the thumbnails for RAW files from a Panasonic DMC-LX2 all come out squooshed into a square, no matter what the actual orientation of the file is. I have forced an update of the previews and there is no change. Is this a common problem for others? In the preview for printing single images to a page, the images appear normal, but with contact sheets the images from this camera come out square. No problems with my Canon files or other JPGs.
    I suspect there is no work-around, but ask just in case. It would be nice if there is, as the contact sheets are for a copyright registration, and the square makes the image possibly illegible in the eyes of a future court, if it ever got to that.

    HAs this already been discussed and fixed? hopefully?
    It appears to be a bug.

  • I cannot find images for contact sheet printing.

    I have been printing hundreds of contact sheets and from time to time when I add pictures for contact sheet, I am unable to find the images I want even though they are open and in the project bin and in the same folder.  I may find two but not the other two and so on.  They all are the same size.  Thanks.

    You need to go into more detail about your problem. Perhaps you can provide screenshots of your dilemma with the software and provide more information that may help people answer your question. If not, you can always try reading the manual.

  • Contact Sheet problems with LR 1.3.1 for MAC

    Hey,
    When I'm saving my contact sheets as PDF files in "Draft Mode Printing" mode about 20% of all the images comes out blurry. It looks just like they are out of focus, this occurs every time I do contact sheets in LR and uses "Draft Mode Printing" Sometimes its less then 20% sometimes its more.
    I run LR on a Macbook Pro wih 4 Gb RAM, OS X, 3,5 Gb harddisk space left on computer.
    Do anyone else have problems with this?
    /Martin!

    If you make contacts with full quality, same thing? How many images per page?
    You are very close to the edge in running out of HD space needed for VM and scratch space, if not already over the theoretical limit.....

  • Bridge to InDesign contact sheets (CS3) creating frames around the images

    Forgive me if this topic should not be here.
    We use the contact sheets to ID from Bridge script quite a lot at work (when it works -> CS2). Since upgrading to CS3 it works (hooray) however, it creates two boxes with a black stroke around each image. Removing them manually is a schlep (I was reading this forum in the hopes of finding a script to run that will remove them faster).
    Is there a way I could edit the script to stop it creating the boxes in the first place?
    Does anyone else have this problem?

    Hi Bob,
    we found your script (I think it was yours) but it only removes one of the boxes I think.
    Hi Robert,
    We are mostly working on Macs, but scripting directly in ID would be great.
    Thanks!

  • Lightroom 4 contact sheet print crashes with over 12 images - Please help.

    Lightroom 4 consistently crashes every time I attempt to print a contact sheet containing over 12 images. Any less and the task is completed without error, any more and it inevitably crashes. Any thoughts?
    My workaround has been to export the images and create large contact sheets in Photoshop CS6, but this takes twice as long.
    This is a daily task and is significantly disrupting my workflow. Please help.
    Regards,
    Eliot

    So, I had this problem tonight after experiencing no problems with Lightroom 4 previously. I noticed that in the print dialog box, where you can select to print "all" the pages or a page range, the page range radial was highlighted and the defined page range was "7" to "7". I was only printing one image so I changed the print range to "1" to "1". And it did the trick. Crazy, eh?
