Contact Sheet Photos

Can you individually orient photos in a contact sheet

The starting point here, is which way round the images appear in the Filmstrip and generally. If you want to use a button, that's set in Library, as SausalitoDog says.
However the arrows may not appear for you. For grid view, there is an item "Rotation" that would need to be checked in the view options for how the image cells appear. For loupe view, the Toolbar has to be showing - it toggles on and off with the T key shortcut. Next, the user can select what controls appear on the Toolbar - there's a little triangular arrow at the right hand side, accessing a menu. Rotate needs to be checked there, for the arrows to show.
Or you can use the Ctrl + [ or ] (square bracket) key shortcut after highlighting an image in the filmstrip, even while in the Print module.
The specific orientation controls you have in Print, are firstly the shape of the containing image cell (whether it is itself portrait, landscape or square), and secondly whether Auto Rotate is checked or not (this is found in "image settings", along with Zoom to Fill).
Often contact sheet layouts use an exactly square image cell, in which case checking Auto Rotate makes no difference, and the image always appears as seen in the Filmstrip.
Say you wanted to force all the images on a contact sheet to appear portrait for printing, then you would need to achieve a portrait rather than square cell size, and to check Auto Rotate.
LR always makes the image as big as it can within the constraints that you set. So:
If Zoom to Fill is not checked, and Auto Rotate off, you see all of each image, centred and sized to fit for both width and height. With Auto Rotate on, it's the same, except an individual image will turn 90 degrees where the longer edges of the image and the cell, allow it to scale bigger that way.
If Zoom to Fill is checked, and Auto Rotate off, you see every image enlarged so as to show no white space in the cell, cropping off the surplus on-the-fly. With Auto Rotate on, it's the same, except an individual image will turn 90 degrees where the shorter edges of the image and the cell, allow it to scale bigger that way.

  • Contact Sheet, Photo Collage, or Photo Book?

Request help to better understand PSE6 capability and to identify the right option to use:
    A. Contact Sheet Option
I have 138 pictures that I can print using "contact sheet" with landscape page setup and 6 pictures per page. I can separately select to include dates and captions. The result looks great! The issue is that I can not save the collection of contact sheets as a PDF or as any kind of file that I can electronically send to anyone, or recall, edit, or print again.
    B. Photo Book Option.
The photo book option puts one picture on one page and 4 on the next. Never six pictures on one page. And I also have to fiddle with frame size, etc to compensate for portait vs lanscape pictures. It also will not let me include dates. It can, however, be saved as a PDF.
    C. The photo collage option
The photo collage option lets you select between 21 picture/page options. However none of them include 4 or 6 pictures per page, and half of them are for angled picture placements. It also will not include dates. but it can be saved as a PDF.
What I think I really want is option A (Contact Sheet) with the ability to PDF or save the resultant set of contact sheets in one file.
Am I understanding the problem and the capability right?
I'm using PSE6 with a one year old Dell Vostro 1510 with Vista and 4 meg memory.
    Thanks for your guidance,
    Ron

You can try using one of the free pdf makers such as PDF reDirect. (google to find many choices).
When you install one of these you get a pdf maker as a printer option. Simply choose the pdf maker as your printer when you hit print and you will get a pdf.

  • Trying to create a contact sheet for passport photos....HELP!

Aperture 3 and iMac are both new to me and after a lot of research, I finally figured out how to make a contact sheet for my passport photo so that I don't have to pay 10.00 for a measly 2x2 photo at Walgreen's. I went to file>print>selected the 8x10 borderless size and adjusted the picture so that I would be able to print 20 2x2 photos on one sheet. PERFECT....but....I don't really want to print it myself ( I don't have any photo paper right now )...I want to SAVE the image I created and upload it to Walgreen's so that they can print it. Then, I will cut out the 2x2 photo that I need. The only problem right now is that I cannot figure out how to SAVE the image to my computer, either in iPhoto or Aperture 3. If anyone knows, can you please help me out with this. OR if there is another way to create the image in another area of Aperture 3 I would like to know how!
Thanks for any help you can provide

Once in print after you have the layout you want select the Print button. This will bring up the  system print window (not actually print the image yet).
At the bottom of the new window is a button PDF select that. From that pulldown you can elect to save the print image as a pdf or better yet for your need you can save  as a JPG (or TIFF)
Once you have it saved as a JPG you can upload to Walgreen;s

  • How do I select more than one photo for a contact sheet

I am trying to print more than one photo per contact sheet (to save photo paper!) Iphoto help says to select the photos you want on the contact sheet and also to select how many photos you want on the "options" button on the contact sheet style selection. I cannot find either option in Iphoto.
    Thanks in advance,

Before you select "Print," hold down the shift key and click on each photo that you want on the contact sheet.
Then select "Print" with Style "Contact Sheet." The resulting window allows you to select the quantity of contact sheets that you want to print.

  • How can I create a PDF contact sheet of photos in finder

I'm trying to create an automator workflow/action (or service) that will allow me to select a set of photos in the finder and then create a PDF contact sheet that will include the Photo filename. I know that I can select photos and open in preview, but these do not include the filename with the photo in the saved PDF.
I'm a newbie with Automator, but i gave it a try myself.
In the Automator PDF Library, there is an action called "New PDF contact sheet", however I can't seem to be able to get it to work. I dragged that action to the workflow and then added "Get Selected Finder Items" before that.
It appears to run it--an "application"/window appears titled "MakePDF" and it appears to run through the selected photos. However, at the end (after it asks for the file name to save it with), it says that "The action “New PDF Contact Sheet” encountered an error--check the actions properties and try running the workflow again".
What am I leaving out of the workflow?

There is a bug in the *New PDF Contact Sheet* action in that it is looking for the Leopard version of a file that moved and changed in Snow Leopard.
Snow Leopard has a newer version of a support application MakePDF.app in the */System/Library/Image Capture/Automatic Tasks* folder, but as mentioned the *New PDF Contact Sheet* action seems to still require the older version of the application, which in Leopard is located in the */System/Library/Image Capture/Tools* folder. If you have access to a Leopard installation, you can copy the MakePDF.app from Leopard and place it into the same location in Snow Leopard (/System/Library/Image Capture/Tools) - this will get the action working again.

  • Is there a way to export your photo links from Illustrator (CS6) to a contact sheet?

So I've got this project where I'm making a set of images and placing about 300 photos with each set.  In order to avoid duplication and to track which photos were used where, I'm having to take screen shots of the links panel (scrolling down and taking another for each batch of images on each file).  This is a really clunky way to track these files and a contact sheet would be a lot easier to work with.  Is there a way to export the links to a contact sheet in Illustrator?

    - select your images
    - open the Document Info Panel, check "Selection Only", "Linked Images" and click on "Save..."

  • Can I Print a Contact Sheet of Photos in a Calendar?

I'm making personalized calendars for many different people.  I don't want to put in the same photos I had in their calendar for 2011.  Is there a way I can print a contact sheet of the photos I had in the 2011 calendar ( I still have it saved in Projects), so I don't use the same photos?  It's very tedious going back & forth, back & forth as I creat each new calendar.
    Many thanks.

  • Manual photo placement contact sheet

Using iPhoto, I am trying to print a contact sheet with the photos in a specific order.
I have them in an album and I arranged them as I want them printed.  Upon printing to PDF, the images scramble.
I have tried, but without success, the following:
Tried setting the sort to "manual"
Tried "batch changing" the dates and re-dated them sequentially by one minute and then clicked "sort by date".
Tried changing the file name and clicked "sort by file name".
Have spent hours trying to fix this. At my wits end!
My goal is to print 5 contact sheets with comparable photos in identical locations.  Specifically, each contact sheet depicts a house on the market.  There are 5 houses = 5 contact sheets.  The upper left corner picture on every contact sheet is the house's front exterior.  The upper right picture is that house's kitchen and so on....so that we can lay out all the printed contact sheets and compare quickly.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Banana

Use a word processor like Pages to do this.

  • Why is my Aperture contact sheet missing photos?

I have 437 photos selected.  I choose Print>Contact Sheets.   I choose 4 rows/6 columns.   But no matter what I do, Aperture will only load 16 images per page.   The next page will also have 16 images.   I have tweaked the number of columns and rows but this does not fix it.   Any ideas?

What are your settings for Row Spacing, Column Spacing, and Margins?
Do you have anything set to show in the Metadata & Page Options section?
Are you waiting long enough for the print preview to generate the page previews?  It can take a minute or longer.

  • I have a contact sheet of photos how can I quickly import the individual photos from the 9 photo contact sheet without edit each one then having to reimport contact sheet

I have a full contact sheet of 9 photos which I have imported. How do I take each individual photo and save it without having to edit from the contact sheet each time as this forces me to reimport the contact?

You can't. If you have a sheet with 9 shots on it and you want to make 9 individual shots you'll need to either
    Import 9 times
    Or
    Duplicate 8 times
    And crop accordingly.

  • Can I print a contact sheet that includes the caption for each photo using Photoshop Elements 13 for Mac. I previously used Photoshop Elements 6 for the PC and could do this.

I just switched to a Mac and installed Photoshop Elements 13. I previously worked with many years with Photoshop Elements 6 on a PC where I used the contact sheet function -- with each's photo's caption included -- to print print a collection of 400+ member photos for a club I belong to. This worked beautifully. I assumed I'd still have this ability with my new software, but can't figure out how to do it. Help.

Try using psd.  Some rerports indicate some confustion between the apps with TIFF.  See:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/15921933#15921933
I cannot confirm, nor test, since I use PS CS5, and not Elements.

  • Contact Sheet with Photo ID?

    Hello fine folks,
I want to print out the contents of a photo album onto a contact sheet. Bingo ... iPhoto gives me that option.
But a digital contact sheet without photo file numbers is pretty much useless. Is there any way to print a contact sheet that contains the photo file name?
    Many thanks!
    G4 933   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    John:
There are a couple of workarounds to get a contact sheet with title.
1 - Create a gallery with the File->Export->Web Page menu option and select the option for titles in the gallery page. You can set the number of columns and other info. You don't have to worry about the media pages as you won't be using them. Then open the resulting galley page in Safari and print from there. There's a free 3rd party application,Galerie, that will produce a much nicer gallery page that the default iPhoto one. There's also BetterHTMLExport which has some terrific themes and lots of control.
2 - Create an iPhoto book using the Year Book theme. You can have from 1 to 32 pictures per page and the titles will automatically be put below each photo. Then start a print of the book but actually save it as a pdf file. Then you can use preview to print individual pages. The caveat to this method is that the pages will be in landscape orientation.

  • Photo contact sheet

I have folders with bunches of photos that I need to review. In Windows Explorer I could print out a contact sheet of the photos so I can tell at a glance what I have.
Is it possible to do this in finder or any other program?

Just to add a bit to buckster's suggestion--
Once your photos are in iPhoto you can then print a contact sheet from iPhoto. From iPhoto help:
To print photos as a contact sheet:
Select the photos you want to print.
    Choose File > Print.
Choose a print setting from the Presets pop-up menu.
Choose Contact Sheet from the Style pop-up menu. The preview area shows how your photos will look when you print them.
Select options for the style you chose.
For example, you can select how many photos to print across each row of a contact sheet or show the title of each photo.
Photoshop Elements is cheap, will allow you to do anything with your photos a non-pro could possibly want to do, and also will print a contact sheet. If you are getting into photography I stongly recommend you get yourself a copy.

  • Photo order on contact sheets

Once I'm done editing photos I burn a copy of all my originals and their edited versions onto a DVD. I store the DVD with contact sheets showing its contents. The originals and edited versions are stacked in Lightroom, so before I make the contact sheet I expand all my stacks. Even though my photos are sorted by capture time in Lightroom, this sorting does not carry over onto my contact sheets. I can't figure out what order they are in on the contact sheet, and it makes it hard to look through hundreds of images to find one. Any suggestions?

Yes, the iTunes/Aperture integration seems a bit weak right now... I've been having some of the same issues, and have thus far given up on fixing them.
Note that is not exclusively an tv problem, rather it's an issue with the integration between iTunes and Aperture... I have the same issues syncing photos to my iPod and iPod nano as well.
Another important issue with Aperture and iTunes is that if you only choose selected albums to sync, and then go into Aperture and re-order those albums and/or create new ones, the selected items for synchronization will get completely messed up... I ended up replacing most of my expected photo content on my tv without realizing it as I was reorganizing my Aperture library and a completely different set of albums got selected for synchronization in iTunes.
There are definitely some bugs to be worked out there....
