Contact Sheet Problem

Here is the scenario:
I start out with my standard contact sheet layout (saved)...6 columns, 6 rows, 8pt type, show file names, etc.
The file names are usually long and take up two lines. I adjust my vertical and horizontal spacing so that those file names are on two lines.
I update my contact sheet name with those perameters. But...when more than one page is required and I advance to the next page, I have to move my vertical and horizontal sliders to break the file name in to two lines. All this for every page. Even though all the specs for horizontal and vertical spacing are showing as being the same! I simply have to move each slider on every page just slightly...sometimes coming back to the same exact number that was there already! Is this a glitch???

Sorry -- missed your follow-up months ago  .
Let's either fix this or identify it as a bug.
Are you running the most recent version of Aperture?
Have you tried selecting another A4 setting?
Does it happen with another printer selected?
And -- although this is clear from your excellent description, I want to double-check -- the layout presented by Aperture is, for example, "7,8, blank, blank, 9, 10", and is not "7, 8, blank, blank, 11, 12"?  In other words, Aperture is laying out "n + b" photo locations where "n" equals the number of Images selected and "b" equals the number of blanks Aperture is adding?

  • CS4 Bridge - Image and Contact Sheet Problems (Windoze)

Problem #1: Out of shear chance, the first directory that I picked on that contains press images, resulted in Bridge not displaying thumbnails, or even being able to work with the image, because Bridge declares that the JPEG file is not a JPEG image. But, here is the kicker, when creating the thumbnails, it does briefly display a thumbnail before replacing it with the JPEG icon. There is nothing wrong with the images as Photoshop CS4 has no problem working with the same images. Double-clicking on the JPEG icon in Bridge results is it calling Photoshop to display the image. Lastly the images were created with Photoshop CS3 on a MAC, as indicated in the EXIF data. I haven't tracked down a pattern yet, as I just installed the software last night. Even so, there is no way that Bridge should have trouble reading CS3 produced JPEG images, but it does.
Problem #2: With the old contact sheet method, one could tell the plugin to include all sub-directories. I can't find a way to get Bridge to do the same thing. If it is there, it certainly is not user friendly. There was nothing online, or in the manual, about how to do that. While I like the idea of producing a PDF of the contact sheets, getting there is not so simple. I'm new to Bridge, having never having the need to use it prior to this release.
Any help with these two problems will be appreciated.

If Bridge can not show the thumbnail, Output workspace can not generate the PDF or web gallery for this image. Because it use the Bridge's DOM to process those images.
For the subfolder issue, you could use the Bridge's 'Show Items from sub-folder'. You could find this option from the directly path list at the tool bar, or from Menu View->Show Items from submenu.

  • Contact Sheet problems with LR 1.3.1 for MAC

    Hey,
When I'm saving my contact sheets as PDF files in "Draft Mode Printing" mode about 20% of all the images comes out blurry. It looks just like they are out of focus, this occurs every time I do contact sheets in LR and uses "Draft Mode Printing" Sometimes its less then 20% sometimes its more.
I run LR on a Macbook Pro wih 4 Gb RAM, OS X, 3,5 Gb harddisk space left on computer.
Do anyone else have problems with this?
    /Martin!

If you make contacts with full quality, same thing? How many images per page?
You are very close to the edge in running out of HD space needed for VM and scratch space, if not already over the theoretical limit.....

  • Print Images' Contact Sheet problems from specific camera...

I have printed a couple contact sheets (Print Images > Contact Sheet), and all the thumbnails for RAW files from a Panasonic DMC-LX2 all come out squooshed into a square, no matter what the actual orientation of the file is. I have forced an update of the previews and there is no change. Is this a common problem for others? In the preview for printing single images to a page, the images appear normal, but with contact sheets the images from this camera come out square. No problems with my Canon files or other JPGs.
I suspect there is no work-around, but ask just in case. It would be nice if there is, as the contact sheets are for a copyright registration, and the square makes the image possibly illegible in the eyes of a future court, if it ever got to that.

HAs this already been discussed and fixed? hopefully?
It appears to be a bug.

  • Printing file & caption on contact sheet- Problem seeing full string

I am attempting to print a two column, 4 row contact sheet with file name & caption below the image. I can tweak the cell spacing vertical size slider which reduces the size of the image and can see all the file name & caption, which may be 2-3 lines.  I have selected file & caption along with a space after the string in the photo info section on the right and clicked done, then control clicked and saved template settings. I can print that sheet with all info. When I switch to another group of images using that saved template, all I can see is a single line of text. If I slightly tweak the vertical size slider, the image becomes a bit smaller and I can see the full text string, but in order to see full file & caption info, I have to tweak the slider for each sheet. If I go back to the previous group of images, the image is larger, I see a single line of text and I have to re-tweak the vertical size slider. I have a large number of sheets to print with file & caption info. How do I configure settings so I can save the full text string and don't have to tweak each sheet.

    Ben3C,
I have found the same problem.  What I have done is saved a template with the number of colums and rows desired.  I went into the 'Photo Info'under the Page area and using custom set up what I want to be printed below each image.  As I said, this is saved as a template.  Then when I select a group of images to print I select the previously displayed template.  This is when the caption will revert to only one line.  Then just select a different template (I usually select the filename.  Then reselect your custome template that you built.  All the lines of the caption will then show and print.  I have printed contact sheets with up to 10 rows of information and Lightroom will automatically resize the image so both the image and caption will fit within the cell area.
    Hope this helps  -- dbmazz

  • Contact Sheet image rotation problem

When using the Contact Sheet f
unction of CS4, some of the images are rotated 180
degrees on the sheet.  Some of them are right side up and some are rotate
    d.  Changing the "rotate for best fit" checkbox has no
    affect.
    Has anyone else had
    this problem??
    Thanks.

    Hi captianbob,
Make sure that you have not selecte primary only (look in the edit menu, can be toggle with the S key)
You can promote or demote images in the stack, see the Stacks menu.
You can always create an album or smart album and use that to play you slideshow.
Just an advice, if you have multible questions you should make seperate posts.
    Best regards - Per.

  • Contact Sheet Printing Problems

I have been trying to print contact sheets starting with version 1.1 and I'm still not able to print them in 2.1.
Ligthroom will generate the file but the printers (I tried 3 printers) are reporting error messages (Status Error - Printing). The file just stay in the queue for ever or I delete it. First I thought it had to be a printer problem so I tried to print the contact sheets in Draft Mode. That worked and everything was fine except the quality of the pictures on the contact sheet was so bad - unusable.
Now I have tried different relosutions from 150 to 250 and nothing works. Well, not quite nothing. I can print out one contact sheet with up to 20 pictures, but as soon as I need more than one sheet it fails.
I'm also running into the same problem with color shifts printing from Lightroom compared to Photoshop. Also, the speed seems to be very slow. I have about 30,000 slides in my library and I'm constantly waiting until LR catches up.

I was experiencing the same thing (in 4.1RC2). Tried to print a 158-image contact sheet (4 pgs), and it would want to render every image first.
    Here's my solution:
I went back to the Library module, selected all the photos I wanted to print, and made sure they all had standard previews rendered. Then I was able to go back and print as draft (to printer, pdf, and jpg) with lightning speed.
    Hope that helps,
    Cory
    **UPDATE**
Today I tried to print another contact sheet, with all previews rendered, and it's being slow again. Apparently my solution doesn't really work 100%. Yeah, it's like Jeckyll and Hyde...

  • LR 3 Contact Sheet Caption Problem

I am using LR 3.0 on a Win XP machine.  I want to print a multiple line caption below each picture on a multi-row, multi-column contact sheet using the single image contact sheet layout style.  I have set up a preset in the photo info panel with the information I want and how I want it to appear below each image on the contact sheet.
My problem is after I have everything set as I want and see in the first page when I select another set of images or another page the preview will only show the first line of the multi-line caption.  I have to make some change to any one item in the layout panel such as change a margin or cell spacing or change to another layout and back in the photo info panel for all lines of the caption to appear. If this is not done, the actual print will only show one line of the caption.  The multi-line caption worked fine in LR 2.
I have searched forums, blogs, etc for help and have not found an answer to my problem.  Has anyone experience this problem and found a solution?

    Hi there
Seems like it is a bug - if so you can report it to Apple by choosing Provide Aperture Trial Feedback from the Aperture menu within the program.
Printing seems to be the main thing from prevent AP3 from being useful to me currently, inability to make presets 'stick', border printing around an image even when no border is selected. There's probably more problems in printing but I'm kind of disheartened to use it to find any more, it's cost me a lot of wasted time already.
    Take care

  • Caption problem with Contact Sheet II plugin

I'm using the current version of Photoshop CC (2014.2.1) and suddenly have a caption anomaly that is quite annoying. When creating contact sheets using Contact Sheet II no matter what setting I request for caption font sizes it created the contact sheet with 2.2 pt. text. I've never had an issue. I tried resetting the type tool itself but that made mo different I normally set the captions to 10 to 12 pt.
This issue just began in the last week. I did update to the new Mac os (Yosemite) in the last ten days.
Any idea as to what is going on? Thanks for any help.
    Scott Weaver

    I believe that's a bug in photoshop cc 2014.2 and cc 2014.2.1

  • Problem building contact sheets in bridge

I am trying to build contact sheets with Bridge in CS5. The feature works great except if you have an odd number of images, the last of the images are built into the contact sheet at a much larger size and not kept proportional to the first images in the contact sheets ie: if you are building 8x11 contact sheets with 18 images and you want 8 images per sheet, the first two sheets are great and the last sheet with the final 2 images have the images at a much larger size relative to the first 16 images. Is there a way to have bridge maintain the correct image proportion on all contact sheets short of creating "dummy" images that divide by 8 for instance giving you an equal number?

Here is a copy of my screen as I use it. Please note that I also changed my settings to the same as you show
in your screenshot with no success. I am thinking there must be something maybe in my preferances that might
    need to be changed.

  • Program error when Making Contact Sheet from Bridge

I had been making contact sheet from the bridge using CS3 with no problem till a week ago when after completing the contact sheet, I get an error message saying that there was a program error, and photoshop locks up. I have to force quit. I am using a G5 dual 2.5 and 2 Gigs of RAM. I tried reinstalling without any luck.
    Any ideas?

Does it work in a new User Account?
Have you tried cleaning-out your Caches (use Cocktail); or trashing Prefs.?

  • Adobe Bridge CS5, error when creating contact sheet "There is insufficient disk space..."

I am running Bridge CS5 for the first time and I receive this error when attempting to create a contact sheet. "There is insufficient disk space to complete this operation." The image files I am using are web optimized and very small. The error even occurs when attempting one small image. I have gone back to using Bridge CS4 and it works just fine. Any help?
    Thanks!

I think I narrowed this down to having a network volume mounted with a share name of "Users".  The strange thing is even you if unmount the volume you will still have problems.  However, if you avoid mounting the volume entirely (from boot) it will be OK.
The solution, it appears, is to rename the sharepoint to something other than "Users".  This worked for us.  I'm not sure if it matters whether the server is Windows or Mac OS.  In our case the sharepoint was an AFP volume on Mac OS.
We had other errors related to Bridge such as "unable to create folder" and the path in the message appeared to be /Users/currentUser/.....  which made no sense at all.  However, if Bridge was internally trying to use /Volumes/Users (the mounted sharepoint), it would not only not find "currentUser", but it would not have permissions to create that folder either.
So, another possible solution could be to grant file creation rights on the network volume "Users".  Another not-so-great idea.
    Hope that helps someone else!
