Contact sheet with variable rows/columns

I'm interested in an InDesign Contact Sheet script/plug-in that is capable of creating a contact sheet with variable rows and columns, allowing amages to be placed at 100%. For example, say I have 20 images all of various dimensions. I'd like to place each one on an ID page at 100% while fitting as many on a single page as possible. So if one of the images was 8in x 10in then it would be the only image on the page, assuming a page size of 8.5 x 11. If smaller images were included in the same batch though, they would be placed as many across and as many down as could fit. Any images larger than the select page size would scale to fit on the page.
All of the existing solutions I've found so far force you to choose the number of rows and columns and then images are scaled to meet those requirements.
Does anyone know if such a solution is out there?

A stand-alone app that can do the same thing, essentially create scatter proofs, may work as well. If anyone knows of such a thing I'd be interested to hear.

  • How to insert a table with variable rows in smart form

    Hi all,
    How to insert a table with variable rows in smart form?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Regards,
    Mahesh.

    Hi,
    Right click the mouse->create->table
    If you want 5 columns, you need to declare 5 cells in one line type of the table
    Click on Table -> Details, then do the following
    Line Type 1 2 3 4 5
    L1 2mm 3mm etc
    Here specify the width of the columns as many as you want..
    then in the header/main area of the table, click create Table Line, Rowtype is L1, automatically 5 cells will come,In each cell create a text element, display the variable to be printed there.

  • Contact Sheet with Photo ID?

    Hello fine folks,
    I want to print out the contents of a photo album onto a contact sheet. Bingo ... iPhoto gives me that option.
    But a digital contact sheet without photo file numbers is pretty much useless. Is there any way to print a contact sheet that contains the photo file name?
    Many thanks!

    John:
    There are a couple of workarounds to get a contact sheet with title.
    1 - Create a gallery with the File->Export->Web Page menu option and select the option for titles in the gallery page. You can set the number of columns and other info. You don't have to worry about the media pages as you won't be using them. Then open the resulting galley page in Safari and print from there. There's a free 3rd party application,Galerie, that will produce a much nicer gallery page that the default iPhoto one. There's also BetterHTMLExport which has some terrific themes and lots of control.
    2 - Create an iPhoto book using the Year Book theme. You can have from 1 to 32 pictures per page and the titles will automatically be put below each photo. Then start a print of the book but actually save it as a pdf file. Then you can use preview to print individual pages.The caveat to this method is that the pages will be in landscape orientation.

  • Contact sheet with Photoshop CS5 Windows 7

    Hello
    As I tried to make some contact sheets with Photoshop CS5, I found that this functions disappeared from the "Automatization" menu (I had it in Photoshop CS3)
    How could I do ? Is there some special "plugin" to do that ?
    I use a french version of Photoshop CS5 running on Windows 7
    Thanks   Have a good day

    Yes, do try the bridge version and also you can download the Optional plugins for cs5,
    which includes the old contact sheet II, but please READ the instructions before installing.

  • Building contact sheets with CS5

    I am trying to build contact sheets with Bridge in CS5. The feature works great except if you have an odd number of images, the last of the images are built into the contact sheet at a much larger size and not kept proportional to the first images in the contact sheets ie: if you are building 8x11 contact sheets with 18 images and you want 8 images per sheet, the first two sheets are great and the last sheet with the final 2 images have the images at a much larger size relative to the first 16 images. Is there a way to have bridge maintain the correct image proportion on all contact sheets short of creating "dummy" images that divide by 8 for instance giving you an equal number?

    Hi,
    You can also try asking here if no one replies to this post (Bridge Windows forum):
    http://forums.adobe.com/community/bridge/bridge_windows
    I don't have enough experience with the Bridge Output Module options to suggest anything, sorry. If you post in the Bridge forum and don't get any replies in a week, ping back here and I'll see if I can get some answers for you.
    regards,

  • How to print contact sheet with file names

    I want to print a photo contact sheet with file names. Is this possible with any standard Mac app?

    I'd like to print the Album name at the top of each contact sheet I produce from that album - is this possible within iphoto '08 or do I need to print to a pdf and then edit that pdf with acrobat pro for example.

  • How can I print a contact sheet with a repeated row of images?

    Hi there,
    I am hoping that it is possible with my version of iPhoto to print a contact sheet on which I need to have a row of 8 pictures that then repeat down the entire page.
    I understand how to set the slider for the number of "rows" across the page. But, how do I then get these 8 pictures to repeat on the same piece of paper?
    I am an art teacher...need to do this for a project for my class!
    thanks for any help that may lead me to success...
    peace,
    Robin

    A contact sheet can only put each photo once on the page. I can't think of a way to do it in iPhoto.
    I was able to do what you describe in Photoshop Elements. If you have access to that program you can give it a try.
    In Photoshop Elements, open all 8 photos.
    Choose File->Contact Sheet II
    Source Images Use: Current Open Documents
    Thumbnails: Place across first, Columns: 8, Rows 1 (Use Auto Spacing)
    Uncheck "Use Filename as Caption" unless you want the names.
    Click OK.
    You then need to move the row of photos to the top of the page with the move tool. Then while holding down the option and shift keys, use the move tool to drag copies repeatedly until you've filled the page.

  • Contact sheet with name of images

    i saw a couple of references to this. one involved printing out of aperture to pdf, one involved image buddy and one appeared to involve exporting to html.
    is there a good way to get a set of contact sheets out with the names of the files so I can review them?
    i believe I am looking for something like a photoshop capability that lets me spec number of columns and rows and text size etc.
    thanks for any help on getting there.
    - Jon

    Check out the utility of the built-in "Contact Sheet" preset in the print dialog before you look elsewhere.  You can specify number of columns and rows and print metadata below each image (as well as lots of other options).
    Don't know from your message whether you are planning to print or review on a computer.  I assume you can't just review the images in Aperture?

  • How to create a Contact Sheet with Adobe Photoshop CS5 from a disc with images in different folders

    I got a disc with images files (mainly ai and psd files) in different folders and subfolders, how can I create a contact sheet including all the image files in different folders. (It seems that Adobe Bridge can only create a contact sheet by clicking the image files directly but not a folder including the images files)
    thx!

    Use the optional Contact Sheet II plugin which is found in Adobe's Downloads:
    1) search for contact sheet in PS CS5 help
    2) choose the first result and read carefully about the Photoshop Optional Plug-In Picture Packager
    3) follow the instructions to download the zip file and note the location that you download it to.
    4) follow the instructions to install the files.
    I'm not sure how PS CS5 will handle ai vector image files or if you have to batch convert them to raster images first before using Contact Sheet II.  Contact Sheet II allows you to choose a folder and Include All SubFolders as an option so you could create a Contact Sheet folder and copy all of your desired folders into that folder which will become subfolders of the main folder you choose for your contact sheet.

  • Resizing a JList with variable row heights, not updating the "picture"

    Firstly I would like to apologize for posting this Swing question here, but I was unable to find the Swing category, if someone could direct me to that I would be most grateful.
    Ok, so in abstract what I am trying to do is have a JList with resizable rows to act as a row header for a JTable (exactly like the row headers in OO Calc or MS Excel).
    What I have is a RowHeaderRenderer:
    public class RowHeaderRenderer extends JLabel implements ListCellRendererand it has a private member:
    private Vector<Integer>        _rowHeights            = new Vector<Integer>();which contains a list of all the variable row heights.
    Then there is my getListCellRendererComponent method:
        public Component getListCellRendererComponent(    JList         list,
                                                          Object        value,
                                                          int           index,
                                                          boolean       isSelected,
                                                          boolean       cellHasFocus)
            // Make sure the value is not null
            if(value == null)
                this.setText("");
            else
                this.setText(value.toString());
            // This is where height of the row is actually changed
            // This method is fed values from the _rowHeights vector
            this.setPreferredSize(new Dimension(this.getPreferredSize().width, _rowHeights.elementAt(index)));
            return this;
        }And then I have a row header:
    public class RowHeader extends JList implements TableModelListener, MouseListener, MouseMotionListenerand you may be interested in its constructor:
        public RowHeader(JTable table)
            _table = table;
            _rowHeaderRenderer = new RowHeaderRenderer(_table);
            this.setFixedCellWidth                        (50);
            this.setCellRenderer                        (_rowHeaderRenderer);
            // TODO: grab this value from the parent view table
            JScrollPane panel = new JScrollPane();
            this.setBackground(panel.getBackground());
            this.addMouseMotionListener                    (this);
            this.addMouseListener                        (this);
            this.setModel                                (new DefaultListModel());
            table.getModel().addTableModelListener        (this);
            this.tableChanged                            (new TableModelEvent(_table.getModel()));
        }and as you can see from my mouse dragged event:
        public void mouseDragged(MouseEvent e)
            if(_resizing == true)
                int resizingRowHeight = _rowHeaderRenderer.getRowHeight(_resizingRow);
                _rowHeaderRenderer.setRowHeight(_resizingRow, resizingRowHeight + (e.getPoint().y - _cursorPreviousY));
                _cursorPreviousY = e.getPoint().y;
        }all I am doing is passing the rowHeaderRenderer the values the currently resizing row should be, which works fine. The values are being changed and are accurate.
    The issue I am having is that while this dragging is going on the row does not appear to be resizing. In other words the "picture" of the row remains unchanged even though I change the values in the renderer. I tried calling:
    this.validate();and
    this.repaint();at the end of that mousedDragged method, but to no avail, neither of them worked.
    Again, I verified that I am passing the correct data in the RowHeaderRenderer.
    So, anyone have any ideas how I should get the image of the RowHeader (JList) to update after calling my MouseDragged event?
    Thank you for your time,
    Brandon

    I was able to fix this some time ago. Here is the solution:
         public void mouseDragged(MouseEvent e)
              if(_resizing == true)
                   int newHeight = _previousHeight + (e.getPoint().y - _cursorPreviousY);
                   if(newHeight < _minRowHeight)
                        newHeight = _minRowHeight;
                   _rowHeaderRenderer.setRowHeight(_resizingRow, newHeight);
                   _table.setRowHeight(_resizingRow, newHeight);
              this.updateUI();
         }

  • Contact Sheet with no extensions

    I am producing a graduation edition with hundreds of senior photos. All the photos are cropped the same size, grayscaled and named alphabetically. I would like to produce a contact sheet because it puts the names underneath the photo but it also includes the file extension. Using this method is much faster than placing individual photos on the page and re-typing names. I am using PhotoShop CS3. Is there a way to make this work?

    Unziping the CSX-1_3.zip file produces two first-level folders: csx and csx-1_3. In the csx folder look for a README.txt file that gives manual installation instructions. This might work for you instead of running the InstallCSX script. (I installed my csx last year and have forgotten if I used the script or manual installation.)
    The manual install procedure also is in the CSX.pdf documentation file in the csx directory plus more info on files in the package.

  • Printing one image on a contact sheet with different gamma settings

    Hi,
    I am currently using Aperture 1.1, and I would like to print out a contact sheet of one image (each with a different gamma setting) to my Epson R800 printer. Any idea on how to do this? Also, I seem to be somewhat limited in my printing options, is it possible to print out say two or three images on one sheet?

    Not without actually duplicating the intended images for the print.

  • Tagging Contact Sheets With Keywords

    I have 81 contact sheets, each containing 250 small images. Is there a way to use Bridge to tag the individual thumbnail images with keywords for later reference?
    And, for that matter, can someone suggest a way to break up the thumbnails into individual images?

    Why would you want to make a contact sheet of individual thumbnails and then try to figure out a way to break up the contact sheet into individual thumbnails?
    Each contact sheet is made from a video file. Each sheet contains stills from a video file, one pic for every five seconds.
    I am just trying to come up with a way to log all the visuals in a group of 81 video files. I'd like to be able to search for, say, all of the pictures of a building, or the sky, or a teakettle, or someone hugging, or the guy named Dom, and so on.

  • Start with more rows/columns in Numbers?

    How can I have the blank numbers template automatically start with more rows and columns? Currently for a new document, it defaults to 22 rows and 9 columns. I would like to start each document with more of each.

    Hi reese,
    Open the blank inbuilt template, add rows and columns to suit, then Save As Template. That will appear under My Templates in the Template Chooser. To automatically start with that custom template,
    Numbers > Preferences > General > for New Documents
    BTW, if you have that preference set, File > New (command n) will also open that custom template.
    Also, New From Template Chooser will disappear from the File Menu. To use Template Chooser, hold down the option key when accessing the File Menu.
    Regards,
    Ian.
