  • How do I stop my contacts syncing with Outlook 2011?

Hi - I have been using Outlook 2011 but I want to stop using it because it's really buggy.  I have opened sync services in Outlook and unchecked all, but how do I make my contacts sync with Address book again?  At present they will not

What is syncing between them ? If calendars, contacts, safari favourites then are you using the same iCloud account on both devices and have them enabled in Settings > iCloud on both ?
If apps, music, and/or ibooks that you buy on one device are automatically downloading on the other device then do you have automatic downloads enabled for them in Settings > iTunes & App Store on your phone/iPad ?

  • Calendar and Contact syncing with Outlook

I have I tunes 8.0.1.11 and Touch software 2.1. Up until one of the last updates (not sure which they come so quickly) my Touch with sync perfectly with Outlook. Lately it has not been syncing. I had a trial Mobile Me which I removed by uninstalling the program and the control panel but it still does not work properly. If I uncheck the sync boxes in the info tab and click apply and then recheck the boxes the entire calendar and contacts will sync, but that's pretty clumsy and takes too long. What can I do to get it working back to the old way? There must be a remnant of Mobile Me somewhere in my system.

I too have not been able to get Notes to sync with Outlook. I updated to v3.0 today, and when I tried to sync my iPod Touch to my PC, iTunes basically refused to sync Notes. It was odd: I would select the box for syncing Notes, and when I initiated a sync by clicking on Apply, the selection checkmark on Notes would uncheck during the sync. It did all the other syncs normally, to Outlook Calendar and Contacts, plus my music and apps. Plus, other aspects of functionality in v3.0 work quite well, e.g., copy and paste. In any case, I got no syncing of Notes in this new version. I created new notes in both platforms, plus activated OneNote on the PC, just in case. Nada. I also have not noticed any new "handheld synchronization" folder under Notes, either. I will try the reboot mentioned by Mac users that has been found to be necessary for the sync to work with Macs.

  • Only half my contacts sync with Outlook 2013!!

I have an iPhone 4 (OS 7.1) with 950 contacts on it. I am wanting to back them up. It seems I can only back up to outlook or windows contacts. I have chosen Outlook and it syncs about half of my contacts fine. I am not sure what has happened to the remaining contacts!!!! I have spent 3 hours trying to resolve this but with no luck. The only other thing to note is my Apple ID is different to my work email ...but not sure that makes a difference!!! Also, as these are work contacts our corporate guidelines say that we cannot us iCloud.
    Please someone help!! :-(

    Hello Jonno F
Check out the article below for more information on trying to import your contacts that are on your iPhone to your computer. I know you said you are not allowed to use iCloud for syncing contacts, but it might by synced with another service. To look for that, go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars and look at your mail accounts and if one of them says contacts, then those will be on that syncing service.  You can also view them when you are in the Contacts App and tap Groups in the upper right hand corner. It will then display any groups as well as any other separation of Contacts through different accounts and locally stored contacts.

  • OVI Contacts sync with Outlook

    Hi,
Is there a way to import my contacts entries from Outlook to the OVI application?  I tried several times but it only works the opposite way round.
    thanks,
    stefan

I decided to try the latest PC Suite 7.1.18.0, same problem. Given that both Nokia suites use pretty much the same underlying PCSync utility, I suspect it was a glitch between PCSync and Outlook 2007 and the way the contacts are flagged/timestamped as you upgrade the versions of Outlook AND PCSync.
Initially I had synced my N78 contacts with the Switch tool from my E50. On the PC side, I upgraded from an older Outlook to Outlook 2007 AND to the new nokia suites. Seems that changing both software pieces at the same time is a no-no.
Manual merge (applies when you have few contacts - 150 in my case):
    1. Create a new contacts folder on Outlook (say DummyContacts) and sync into it (one way) all your mobile contacts.
    2. Then on Outlook 2007, copy & paste the contacts from DummyContacts into your primary Contacts folder. Make sure that "duplicate contact detection" is on before you cut & paste. Outlook will take you thru all the contacts that were updated on both sides, so that you can verify the conflicts. The notes field is appended to, so you'll have to edit any contacts with notes after the copy/paste.
    3. Erase all contacts from your mobile, sync into it (one way) the contacts from Outlook.
After that, the 2-way sync seems to work, both with Ovi and PC suites.

  • Nokia X2: Calendar and contacts sync with outlook....

    hey there
i have a nokia x2 and i got myself a new outlook.com account just in order to finally have my emails, my contacts and my calendar synch using the outlook.com app.
    1 email synchronisation works fine
2 contacts sync seem not to be possible.
     - contacts can be edited only on outlook.com, but not via app. could you confirm this? I wonder why and if an update will solve this issue. what am i supposed to do in order to synch my contacts if i add a new contact or email or whatever on my nokia x2? add it manually to the outlook.com adress buch? this is not feasable!
    - besides the birthday is not displayed on nokia x2 alltough being present on the database of nokia x2 (i can export it with the contact using the export function)
3 calendar synch works only from outlook.com to nokia x2. if i add a new event on nokia x2, this one event doesn't get sync on outlook.com. any idea what goes wrong or what i am supposed to do to fix this?
nokia/microsoft colleagues please help, i am using only your stuff, it cannot be that it does't work even when using ONLY microsoft programs
    thx
    ed

    Little update
2 calendar --> there is a workaround that makes calendar synch working (using exchange account and also outlook.com app). if you turn off the local calendar and  if you edit directly the exchange calendar, it works (create, edit and delete).  synch between local und exchange calendar doesn't work, no way.
    2 contacts: no workaround
     - using outlook.com app you can't edit contacts and birthdays don't get displayed
    - using exchange server you can edit the contacts locally bur all changes doesn't get synchronised with outlook.com. birthdays are displayed.
    - new problem: contact groups don't get synchronised in any direction!!
microsoft / nokia people kindly help..

  • Ovi Suite 2 and 3 contact sync with Outlook 2007 i...

    Hi all,
    New user of an e71.
    I have Windows 7 32 bit
    Outlook 2007
I have tried both versions of Ovi Suite (2 and 3), and the contact sync is absolutely terrible.  I have no confidence that I am getting the proper info at either place.  It either munges the contact at the phone, or in Outlook.
A simple fix for this would be to follow RIM's lead, and allow OVI to choose (before the sync), which side wins when in conflict.  (or stop the sync on each conflict, and allow us to choose the one which is correct)
Anyhow, after fighting OVI for over two weeks, I uninstalled OVI and tried PC Suite 7 for the first time, and it synced my contacts and all other notes, tasks, and calendar items like magic.
Love the GUI on OVI Suite, but I can't keep fighting this sync issue.

  • Contacts Sync with Outlook - Missing Indexes

I wonder if anybody can help as I've run out of ideas. In the last week or so, my Blackberry (Curve 9300) is not syncing properly with my Outlook (2007) contacts. All records go across if I look in the database, and yet an undetermined number are not indexed (I don't see them in the BB contact address book when I search). I've deleted the address book and reloaded it on the Blackberry, but it doesn't make a difference. The odd thing is that it's not always the same records.
I've made no changes to my system or my BB.
    Has anybody any ideas?
    regards
    Guy

At this time I do not know of a way to sync "sub folders" of contacts in Outlook. Even the 3rd party programs or MobileMe does not allow for sub-folders. There are programs that allow you to create groups, but only sync from the main contact folder.

  • ICloud Contacts Sync with Outlook 2007

I have an iPhone5 and an iPad2. I have been using iCloud to sync Contacts between these two devices for a few days without any problems.
Today I installed iCloud Control Panel on my PC (running Windows 7 and Outlook 2007) to let me keep Contacts in sync between my iPhone5, iPad2 and Outlook.
Everything seems to be working correctly and Contacts are in sync between all three devices. However, in Outlook I see a message at the bottom of the window which says "Synchronising Hierarchy" - there is a rotating icon to the right of the message. This message has been displayed for the last 3 hours.
Does this indicate some aspect of sync is still in progress or is there a problem?
Thanks in anticipation of your help.

On his phone, sign in Settings>iCloud and enable Mail so that he can have his own email address. Then add your account in Settings>Mail, Contacts & Calendars and enable Contacts and Calendars. They will then appear on his phone alongside any syncing he has set up. This will keep your emails separate, or you can add Mail as well so that you can both access that if you want. You can add his account in the same way on your phone and enable any data types you want to sync.

  • Iphone contact's phone number not synced with Outlook

    Hi,
I have a contact with 4 phone numbers. That contact syncs with outlook in most cases (e. g. a change in a "note" is transfered both ways correctly).
But: The "private" phone number never shows up in Outlook.
I already reset the sync history.
Any other ideas are warmly appreciated!
    Ulrich
PS. Itunes syncs with Outlook 2007

Well, I fixed it myself. In Outlook, I checked each appointment for a bad reminder time. My default time is 30 minutes. ONE entry showed 0 minutes. I changed it to 30, synced, and lo and behold, I have my calendar back! I can't believe that is all it took.

  • Syncing with outlook

This is an often asked question, but something for which I have yet to see a satisfactory answer.  I am running Windows XP Professional.  I also have Outlook 2003 on my desktop.  I do not use Microsoft Exchange Server.  I have an iPod Nano, an iPad 2, and an iPod Shuffle.  I am running iTunes 10 and have the latest OS for iPad 2 (4.3.1?).
I also have a Blackberry Storm.  I have been effortlessly syncing contacts, notes and calendar onto my Blackberry via Blackberry Desktop Manager and Outlook over USB for many years now.  There is nothing wrong with my Outlook, my contact, notes or calendar entries.  In fact, I have been reliably syncing and backing up this information over two desktop computers.
Can someone explain to me why iTunes and Outlook refuse to sync the above items onto my iPod Nano and iPad 2?  It is a consistent and persistent problem.  I have tried everything suggested on the World Wide Web to remedy this situation.  I've uninstalled and reinstalled Outlook and iTunes.  I have checked the Apple add-in in the Coms menu in Outlook.  I have de-selected all other add-ins.  I have replaced the the libleay, ssleay and sqlite3 files in Windows\system32 files.  I have installed the latest Open SSL files.
I have reset sync history ad infinitum.  I have checked the iTunes calendar, notes and contacts sync with Outlook options.
I have done it all, and nothing works.
I am convinced this is a known technical issue which Apple has refused to address or has been unable to address.  Instead of offering a proper patch or resolving the issue, they have instead blamed the users for the problems.  This is not right.  Apple products are not cheap and they are expected to work out of the box with little configuring.  This is what Apple has advertised for many years as a competitive advantage.  But if simple tasks like syncing data is such a problem, how savvy can Apple be?  Fact is, everyone else seems to be getting it right.  Why not Apple?
Does anyone have a solution to this problem?  Why is it that every other company can get their devices to sync with the most used email, contacts and calendar system in the world, but the so called technology experts and "simplicity" experts can't get their expensive and vaunted devices to work on this same system.
Someone....does anyone have a solution to this problem?????

I just bought an iPad2. I have XP and Office/Outlook 2003 like a lot of people. I've been a big fan over the years of Pocket Informant (WebIS software) and have been using it successfully with my windows mobile devices but am now switching to the iPad2 for obvious reasons. The developers at WebIS have been terrific over the years and responsive to user feedback. They dropped Microsoft like a bad habit when they changed their API and have had iPhone and iPad versions of Pocket Informant out for a few releases now http://www.pocketinformant.com/products_info.php?p_id=pocketinformant_ipad. Their Windows version they no longer support and offer it for free. Pocket Informant comes from excellent roots. Web IS has a number of ways to sync your Apple device with Windows Outlook including using intermediaries such as Google and ToodleDo. They also have developed their own app WebIS Desktop Sync. Check it out towards the bottom of this page http://www.pocketinformant.com/products_info.php?p_id=pocketinformant_iphone&tab _id=sync
I'm exploring this issue myself and this is the way I'm headed. Hope this helps.

  • How to Sync iphone 5 contacts/calendar with Outlook 2007

I used to have an iphone 3gs and upgraded to a 5 recently. Since then I can't sync outlook contacts/calendar like I used to.
All I want to do is sync outlook with the iphone so that I have the same data on my Windows7 PC as on the iPhone. I used to just hit sync in itunes and presto it would sync both ways. i.e new phone entries would be copied to outlook and new outlook enteries copied to the iphone.
Now in itunes "info". I  only see an option that sync's to the cloud only. I don't want to sync to the cloud because the old way was better for me.
Besides the cloud doesn't seem to work. The phone information gets uploaded to the cloud but the outlook information doesn't get updated? When I open up the cloud in Win7 using icloud I can see all the contacts on my phone but how do I get them to sync with Outlook and vice versa?
I've read so much information on the subject I'm blue in the face but have not found a solution.
Your help would be appreciated, Thank You.

If you have [accidentally] enabled iCloud sync on your iPhone, note that you first need to turn that off in order to be able to sync again via iTunes instead. iCloud sync and iTunes sync when it comes to contacts and calendars, are cannot be run simultaneously. Settings > iCloud > toggle the switches to OFF
You can alternatively read this for another offline method of syncing iphone contacts to outlook without needing to switch off your iCloud sync in first place.

  • IPhone no longer syncs with Outlook Contacts/Calendar

For months I was syncing with my computer at home for music and videos, then I bring my iPhone to work and sync my Outlook Contacts and Calendar.
Now, when I plug in my iPhone on my work computer, everything operates as it used to, it still says it's syncing contacts, then syncing the calendar, but after it's done, when I look at the calendar or contacts in my iPhone, nothing has changed. It's simply not syncing with Outlook anymore, even though the status bar at the top of iTunes says it is syncing.

It appears I have solved the issue myself and thought I would share the solution in case anyone runs into this problem.
In Outlook, I only have one profile. However, Outlook somehow had some settings changed where it prompted me for which profile I wanted to use each time I started Outlook (even though I only have one profile). Because it was prompting me to choose when I start Outlook, I am guessing that when iTunes tried to access Outlook, it was also prompting iTunes to choose which profile to use as well. Since iTunes didn't know which profile, it wasn't syncing properly (note, iTunes never asks you which profile you want to use).
To fix this, I went to the control panel, double clicked the mail icon, clicked the button that says "Show Profiles". I highlighted the only profile I have listed in the drop-down menu and checked the box that says "Always use this profile".
I then sync'd iTunes with my phone and the calendar and contacts finally updated!

  • CompanionLink sync calendar, contact, notes with Outlook over USB?

For years, I've been wrestling with the choice of what to migrate to from my hobbly 1st generation iPod Touch.  A replacement for my cellphone and the Touch, augmented with a data plan.  I am not a natural fan of the Apple cult design philosophy, nor the cavalier security model of Android.  Furthermore, I have modest no-nonsense requirements in terms of apps -- I need a secure and efficient to organize my info and priorities, not play Mario Brothers over the web with my garage door opener, or some other frivolous distraction.
The advent of Blackberry 10 was a huge relief.  However, I've been reading about the wrinkle with nonwireless 2-way syncing with Outlook, encompassing calendar, contacts, and notes.  The latest rumours I've found online about the ETA is end of 2013, and I'm not sure how much uncertainty there is in that forecast.  Consequently, I decided to explore the option of buying CompanionLink.  I have only found one personal anecdote during my web search, and I'll refrain from describing it here.  To get an idea of the quality of the solutio, it was suggested to me to post on a CompanionLink forum, but that might not be the best way to get a balanced view of the product.  I figure that a Blackberry forum would be more objective.
Can anyone who has jumped into the CompanionLink pool please share their anecdote of how well it works?  Anything that you consider worthwhile, as I may not be able to anticipate all the potentially significant points.
A particular behaviour that I'm hoping won't be in CompanionLink is what I experienced in syncing between Outlook and the iPod Touch via the iTunes app on the PC.  If an item (e.g. a note) changed both on Outlook on the PC and on the device, the user must choose which one is the correct one, and must make this choice on the fly.  If the conflicted item contained a lot of information, it would be hard to make the comparison on the fly.  The correct way to handle this would be to allow the user to choose that both versions of the item kept, effectively yielding two instances of the item.  The user can then use text comparison tools to reconcile the two versions e.g.  vim, diff, Word, etc.  Palm replicated conflicted items, but they've been out of the picture for a long time.
Thanks for any anecdotes on CompanionLink.
Afternote: Oh, and if anyone can point to past examples of a platform vendor changing hands, an the fate of the platforms, thanks for sharing that, too.  It is an overwhelming factor in how I decide to go forward.

I totally agree. It would seem that since they sync all of the other parts of Outlook they would do the same for Notes. In fact if you think about it, they are not backing up the built in Notes so it probably was the last item on the list of todos. Probably in the next release of iTunes.
A work around would be to create a contact for the more important notes and then do a sync. Use Notes for the last name and the subject for the first name. That way they would be close together.
