Contact uses a tracfone, does not receive text messages but sent messages show on iPhone 6
As recently as 2 weeks ago, text messages where working to and from this contact. His carrier with Tracfone is AT&T.
I've already done some troubleshooting:
I am able to receive messages from my contact with the Tracfone, and it appears to send the message. But he never receives it.
He is able to send/receive messages from other contacts - including contacts with plans, and contacts with straighttalk/prepaid.
I am able to send/receive texts from other contacts - including those with plans and those with prepaid.straighttalk/prepaid.
He is not able to receive a group message from me, although other contacts do.
I am able to send/receive group messages from other contacts - including those with plans and those with prepaid.
I have tried with iMessage turned on and with it turned off.
I have tried with MMS messaging turned on and with it turned off.
I've verified the number is not listed as blocked.
I've deleted and recreated the contact and verified the number is correct.
Cellular data is enabled, as is LTE voice & Data.
I have service, and have not received any red exclamation points indicating failed to send.
I've already tried turning the device on and off.
Bunifufu, we appreciate you providing us with your phone type details. That is definitely odd that this is occurring. Just in case, what type of phone does the other user own? While it is strange they aren't receiving your messages, and that your phone displays sent. (Especially if the other person uses an iPhone and iMessaging too) There may be an issue on their end if it is indeed sending correctly on your end. when sending email using MAIL to pc users from 27" IMAC, recipient receives the email and attachments, but does not receive my note/text in email?
any ideas?If they are using Outlook, that is likely the problem.
There are two settings in the Edit>Attachments, Always send windows-friendly and attachments at end of message.
Also, set the message as Plain Text (Format menu).
Outlook has always been crappy with anything but Exchange email. They haven't fixed it in about ten years, so I wouldn't expect any changes in the future. -
I switched to Verizon in March 2014, from AT&T. I traded in my old iPhone4 for a Galaxy 4. Ever since, I am not getting text messages from anyone who has an iPhone unless they WORK for Verizon. I have deleted my phone from my apple profile and I don't own any other apple products. I switched to an Android because I was tired of Apple's proprietary ways. It seems not matter what I do, and I have done EVERYTHING suggested here on these forums. No luck. I am so frustrated. I have a very large family and almost everyone else has an iPhone. Even if they don't, I am not getting all their messages. I like the new Galaxy, but believe I have made a huge mistake switching carriers and phones, even though I hate Apple products.

ITunes does not recognise my iPad and it keeps showing as iPhone
Do not know wha to do. I have tried several times to restart the computer as well as iPad. When connected to the computer iTunes it does ot recognise iPad though it is listed as one of he devices and used to work OK in the past. The iPad is shown like iPhone and it even shows all application etc as iPhone. Any advise?

The problem is that my phone sometimes doesn't make phone calls, receive ones or send message( imessage and text message) properly. Try testing the iPhone without any accessories.

First time use of camera does not make a sound but use again then shutter sound can be heard

It IS in fact "New" as it started a couple of days ago - AND - something indeed has changed = "... updated to iOS 8.1" - BUT - a little unclear about the context of "... when (f)irst released all ok" part? are these two separate statements? "... updated to iOS 8.1 when it [was] first released" and "all was OK prior that point" and then started misbehaving right after the update? - OR are you saying that when "updated to iOS 8.1 [WHEN IT WAS] first released, all was OK - as in the shutter-snap sound worked fine and THEN suddenly began misbehaving"
In these forums, it may be to your advantage to try not using IDevice 'texting' practice of being brief... in here, MORE is more better.
If the update was the beginning of the issue, that may be added to the list of strange things that happen to some and not to others.
I would suggest a visit to the Genius Bar if one is nearby, but older iPhone may only get you so far if you don't stick by your claim that "everything was fine until I updated my iOS 8 version"

I have a new IPhone5c and do not receive texts or calls sent from my daughter's phone; I'll call this phone 2. We did not have this problem with my old Envy Touch. Verizon is our provider. Can you troubleshoot? My other daughter has a new IPhone5c too. She receives calls and texts from sent from phone 2. Any tips for remedying this problem?
Thank you.Turn off iMessage in your phones settings. Apple devices can only use iMessage to other Apple devices.
Turning off iMessage will allow the messages to go as regular text messages. -
Just got the Samsung Galaxy s5 and am very frustrated that I am not receiving text messages that were supposedly sent to me. Also, it says 'sent' but it is never delivered. Or it might get delivered but mine still just shows being sent. I re-started that phone and disabled my texting on my old iphone as some have suggested. I'm ready to go back to the iphone just because of this issue. Please fix this Verizon!
I'll tell you it is some marketing coup that a problem Apple has created and has control over is being passed off on Verizon.
This problem is the result of you migrating from iMessage, a messaging platform controlled completely by Apple, back to a more mainstream messaging system of SMS/MMS. Verizon has no control over other iPhones "thinking" you are still using iMessage. NOTHING Verizon can do will fix this problem.
Try texting the word "stop" to 48369. Others have reported this has worked. Doing this should de-register your number with the iMessage system. You should receive a confirmation reply. It may take a day or 2 for other iPhones to completely register that your number is no longer associated with iMessage. You can also try calling Apple support and let them know you are not receiving messages from iPhone users after switching to an android phone from an iPhone. -
Can't access contacts, not receiving texts, not all calls come through....
I downloaded the required update to my Motorola Droid Bionic this morning. Ever since I can't get into my contacts. For over 8 hours when I click on the contacts icon, I see a message: "Contact list is being updated." I am not receiving text messages and only occasionally do I receive incoming phone calls. I can call out however. Most of my emails aren't coming through either. I've tried turning off and removing the battery. Any suggestions? Thanks.

At any rate ... you might try a system cache clear:
Power down phone
Hold volume up/down & power simultaneously until you see the Boot Mode Selection Menu
Use volume down to navigate to 'Recovery', use volume up to select
Should see screen with triangle and exclamation point next to an Android
Press volume up/down simultaneously to go into system recovery
Use volume rocker to navigate to 'wipe cache' and use power button to select
Once finished, use volume rocker to navigate to 'reboot system now' and use power button to select -

My phone is not receiving text messages and depending on where I am it also does not send, it gives me a message failure. Then if I send it as a text message instead of imessage it will go.
Any ideas how to fix it?contact your wireless provider. txt messages is their service.

On an iPhone your iMessages will go to your phone number.
You can select another email to use on iPod or iPad.
Go to settings
Messages
Send and receive
Check your phone number and uncheck the common Apple ID you share so your messages will not go to other devices. -
My MOTO X was working fine, then all of a sudden, I can not receive text messages. I have checked the settings and they look correct to me, and I have done everything the web site recommends, except wiping the phone and starting over, to try and fix it. Has anyone else had this issue, and how did you resolve it?

Go to Mail Preferences
Click on the General tab
Set "Check for New Messages:" to "Every Minute"

Wi-Fi is not required for iMessage. Internet access is required for iMessage which includes when the iPhone is connected to the cellular network.
If an iMessage cannot be sent, it will fail to send and you will be prompted to send as an SMS if text only.
