Contacts and calendar showing double - because of MobileMe?

I got mobile me and the contacts and calendar updated wirelessly as expected, however the last time I plugged in my iPhone to my computer, the iPhone synced with all information (contacts, calendar, itunes, photos, etc.) and now both my contacts and calendars are showing double on my iPhone. Is there a way to fix this?
the calendars show two boxes on my iPhone: "From my Mac" and another "(email)(Mobile Me)". I assume this is why there are duplicates, however I do not know how to delete or get rid of it. I thought Mobile Me would simply update information from the Mac, not add to it.
The contacts have the same two boxes and show all my groups of contacts twice.
Am I not supposed to sync with my mac now that I have mobile me? How do I get rid of these duplicates now?
Thank you,
Kim

  • Why are my contacts and calendars showing up on my daughter's iphone after I updated?  Help!

Why are my contacts and calendar showing up on my daughter's iphone after I updated?  Is there anyway to remove them or stop
them from going directly to her phone?  Help!!!!  Thanks guys

So, am I to conclude from all this that the best thing for one iMac and multiple family devices (2 x iphones, 1 x itouch, 2 x ipods) is to set up itunes account for each family member.  We don't use iCloud except for my (primary iphone)
We had similar problems to the above, and since the recent 6.0.1 update we've started getting each others texts, on top of my wife and I's contacts being replicated to our young son's itouch, and a seemingly random redistribution of apps.

  • Export contacts and calendar to microsoft outlook

How do I export contacts and calendar to microsoft outlook?  Everything is correct on icloud and my phone but outlook calendar and contacts got wiped out.  Perhaps during a retore of the phone?  I've tried all sorts of setting changes with the help of IT but nothing works.  Using an export function from icloud only exports one contact at a time even thought I select all. When I use the icloud control panel to write a file, it bombs out regardless of whether I select all contacts and calendars or selected ones.  At one point I accidentally merged contacts and calendar entries (double and quadruple contacts).  I've manually corrected both contacts and calendar entries on icloud so that it and my phone are now correct, but the outlook contacts and calendar are remain empty and will not sync.  I've spent days on this debarkle.

same problem here. let me know if you find a solution.

  • Lost my contacts and calendar since update and statesThe iPhone cannot be synced because there is not enough free space to hold all of the items in the iTunes library (additional 1 MB required).e

I lost my contacts and calendar, and photos since the iOS update and and it states that my iPhone cannot be synced because there is not enough free space to hold all of the items in the iTunes library (additional 1 MB required).   Also it shows that I am over capacity on my Capacity ruler but how do I unload some of that stuff so that I can increase my capacity and perhaps get this synching to work again.
    So frustrating!!

On your iPhone go to settings>general>about and next to "Available" if you dont have much space then you will need to delete stuff on the phone to make room to take photos by deleting stuff on the phone.
In terms of syncing change what you are syncing and decide what you would really want and not want on your phone which would make what is syncing to the phone smaller.

  • Double Contact and Calendar Entries

I have an iPhone 4 running iOS5 and an iMac running OS 10.6.8.  I foolishly got caught up in the iCloud fervor and converted my Mobile me account to iCloud - BIG MISTAKE.  I can still sync Contacts and Calendars, wirelessly (very slick), using iTunes. On the Calendar on the iMac, all previous Events are entered twice.  Not the end of the world, but messy.  Newly entered Events don't double enter, so far so good.  BIG problem is that on the iPhone, all my Contacts and Groups are entered TWICE; this does not carry over to the iPhone.  Settings on the iPhone > iCloud are Contacts ON, Calendar OFF.  I think that the double contacts appeared when I turned OFF Contacts on the iPhone.  When I did a Sync, it said that there were 608 Contacts on the iPhone that should be updated on the iMac.  I opted not to Sync them, hence no double enteries on computer.  How do I get rid of the double Contact enteries on my iPhone?  I know the easy solution would be to install Lion on the computer and Sync with the Cloud, but I have way too many PowerPC apps to make this practical or affordable.

If you are syncing with iTunes, you do not want to sync via iCloud (and vice-versa).
OOn yoru computer System prefs iCloud and tick Contacts.
    Select the iPhone in iTunes.
Click the Info tab and uncheck Sync contacts (because you do not want them to sync via iTunes).

and sync the data from my Mac TO MobileMe. This overrides the data on the server with the data on the Mac. Now the iPhone syncs fine.

  • Lost contacts and calendar, possibly MobileMe related

My wife just lost all contacts and calendar from her iPhone 4. She had been bothered by repeated requests by the phone for her MobileMe password. As far as she knew, she was not a MobileMe user, so our son disabled the MobileMe account on the phone. After this, the contacts and calendar were gone. She has tried online and phone help, as well as a visit to an Apple Store, with no luck. Is it possible that her data still exist and can be recovered?

She obviously has a MobileMe account or there would be no MobileMe account to disable on her iPhone. And if her contacts are now gone, this means she was syncing contacts over the air on her iPhone with her MobileMe online address book. When turning contacts off for over the air syncing on the iPhone and when deleting or disabling the account on the iPhone, contacts synced over the air go with it or are removed from the iPhone.
Her contacts should be available with her MobileMe online address book unless she signed up for a MobileMe trial account for 60 days and didn't purchase the account allowing it to expire.
Regardless, her contacts should be available on her computer as well. If the contacts are available in an address book app that is supported for syncing contacts with the iPhone, she can sync contacts direct with the supported address book app on her computer via the iTunes sync process.

  • I had a MobileMe account before... after upgrading to iOS 5, should I keep my account info under iCloud (settings) AND under mail, contacts and calendars (in Settings as well) or only keep the info under the new iCloud setting section?

That's not the correct port. It should be 993 for incoming.
If you signed into iCloud from the System Preferences, it should automatically create the iCloud account for you in Mail. Sounds like it is an account you already had set up for MMe in Mail.
Open Mail preferences, open the Accounts tab, disable that account in the advanced pane.
Open Sys Prefs, open the iCloud tab, and sign out of iCloud. Then sign back in and see if a new iCloud account is automatically created.

  • TS2776 Any ideas why my Outlook 2010 is syncing with iCloud for e-mail but not for contacts and calendars?  I am not a novice user and have done all the obvious things. The situation is odd because the original calendars all came from Outlook in the first

I use iMac, iPad and iPhone but also an HP laptop. I have used Macs since 1986 so I am not a novice. I set up my iCloud account, moving from MobileMe recently and everything works fine on my Apple devices. The bizarre thing is I can see all my e-mail accounts via iCloud in Outlook but the contacts and calendars are not syncing in Outlook even though the original calendar material came from Outlook (the contacts data is all from the iMac). I've tried all the obvious things and read most of the articles on the Apple Support website. All the relevant boxes are checked on the iCloud dashboard on each device but I just wondered if I was missing something obvious. I'm sure some of you will have had the same expereince and solved it. Can you help me?
    Thanks in anticipation!

  • Issue with Contacts and Calendar on my wife's iCloud account

    Hi everyone,
My wife and I have both apple IDs that we used with MobileMe. I can access mail, contacts, calendar etc on icloud.com after transfering from mobileme, but my wife only sees email. No contacts or Calendar there. She has all in her iPod Touch under her ID, and we have them all in both our Macbook Pro and iMac.
Any idea how/why the contacts and calendar does not show up on hers? We share all data, so I have no idea why one would have them while the other doesn't. Maybe because I was the first one to sign up for mobileme? I don't know.
I searched the forum but couldn't find anyone with the same issue... many with apple IDs, but nothing like this.
    Thanks for your help!

    Hi David,
I am experiencing something similar... I moved mobileme to icloud, after completion I thought everything was ok, but now after one hour all my contacts have disappeard... trying to look what's going on

  • Syncing email, contacts and calendars

Feeling a little overwhelmed with my problem as a recent Mac convert. Have tried to do research on this issue but have had no luck finding a solution that works for me. Not entirely sure this question is in the right category but here goes:
I have a personal gmail account and a home-business email through a domain. I am running MS Outlook 2011 on my Mac Book Air and using a Blackberry Bold 9900.
I want my Outlook and Bold to sync with my emails, contacts and calendars seemlessly. They are not. I have had nothing but problems with contacts that are entered in my BB then don't show up in Outlook. Or calendar invitations that are quadrupled in my BB because I added it to Outlook.
Does anyone have an elegant solution so that everything syncs between everything without dropping items or duplication?

Funny (not ha ha)....I've been working a similar situation for a few years now.  I'm an IT guy, and my goal years ago was to sync my calendar and contacts with EVERY device I have (work outlook, home outlook (on 3 different systems) and whatever phone I've got).  Apple had a GREAT answer.... their MobileMe solution.  Was supposed to be great - a single place to sync everything together, BUT it didn't work right.  So much that I ran from it when it would refuse to change things on just about any device.  It would actually put all my contacts back if I attempted to delete them all.  weird....finally dumped it.
    So....round 2.
I started using my work Outlook (exchange) as my 'master', changing that, and letting all other devices be slave.
This worked for awhile, but got taxing to try and update from a single source.  I would archive my data on a regular basis ' just in case'.
Anyway....after multiple device changes, etc.  Here's where I'm at today - and working VERY well:
I sync all my devices with my work Outlook (Exchange).  <---- key in this effort.
All my devices Outlook (exchange) at work, Outlook at home Windows (XP or 7 desktop), Windows laptop,  MacBook Air (running SL, and now Lion), iPod touch, iPad, HP Touchpad and an iPhone. (I was Windows phone before and no difference).   I've used 3 different windows phones, and now 3 different iphones.  I can change data anywhere, on any device, and everything updates within a couple of minutes, since everydevice syncs with the master, the master updates and sends out to all other devices.
Now, for Blackberry, that would depend on if you sync wirelessly through a BES Server.  If you do, again, everything would be the same and wirelessly sync everywhere.
If you sync using the desktop manager - makes it tougher, but still should work fine - it's just there is a time/entry delay because you can only change data you change on your BB with the rest of the network when you sync manually via cable (not the best solution). I did that for a few years, before smartphones hit the market.  I used to used a Palm, or HP iPaq and would sync wired.  What a pain.
This new solution has worked for me for a few years...very happy, and the end device shouldn't matter.
I'd like to hear more detail on what exactly isn't working.
    Cheers.

  • Contacts and calendar events disappearing and reappearing

I have three issues, two of which I think are related.
    1.
My contacts disappear on my iPhone 3G. I am set up with MobileMe to auto sync and I don't know if that is getting screwed up somehow? The contact are on my Mac lap top when I go look (thank goodness), and I force a sync and they transfer to my phone fine. This has happened twice now. I have copied my contacts as vCards and saved that file in the downloads folder just in case they get lost on both my laptop and my iPhone - I also do a regular full laptop backup to my Time Machine - is there anything else I should be doing to back up my contact and calendar data?
    2. (possibly related to 1.)
When I am looking at my iCal in the weekly view on my laptop, sometimes several of my appointments are not visible. It is only when I try to put an appointment in that is at the same time as the invisible ones that they suddenly reappear.
    3. One of my contacts will not sync from my iPhone to my lap top? It used to be in both places but for some reason it is now only on my iPhone and even when I sync, it doesn't come into my laptop Address Book.
    Help please!!!

i am having what i think is a very similar problem in that my Exchange (you seem to use only mobileme) contacts partially disappear. i discover this when i check my sms message list and find that many messages show only the phone number when earlier the name was there. a check of the contacts list shows that some have disappeared.
i restarted the phone and checked immediately but it was still gone but after a few minutes they came back.
my theory is that something is going on with messy exchange server syncs with my iphone that could be causing the process to break midway but after a while the phone automatically syncs again.
this issue appears quite rarely for me but enough to be noticed and to be annoying.

  • Any ideas for how to sync to Exchange 2003 - contacts and calendar

    Hi
I am still searching for a mechanism to give me the sync solution I want, which is as follows:
At work I have a PC running Outlook 2003 via an Exchange Server 2003 setup.
At home I have an iMac running Snow Leopard
In the middle I have an iPhone 3G
I want to sync Calendar and Contacts across all three machines.
I want to sync work email between the Exchange server and the iphone, but do NOT need this to sync on my iMac at home
    That's it.
At the moment I can sync email, calendars and contacts successfully between the Exchange server and iPhone, using the over-the-air Exchange Sync on the iPhone. But sadly my iMac will not sync contacts and calendars to the exchange server 2003 as Snow Leopard only supports exchange 2007.
Ironically (because I don't need this bit to work) I have managed to get my iMac to sync with my Exchange server EMAIL, by selecting the Exchange IMAP option when setting up the mail account on my iMac (as opposed to the Exchange 2007 option). However, I cannot get iCal or Address book to sync with Exchange 2003, regardless of the options I select when setting up the new accounts in Address book or iCal. I guess these just do not work with Exchange 2003
I know that I cannot use mobileme as a solution, as you cannot have two over-the-air syncs going on, and I need to maintain my iphone link to the exchange server via activesync
I also know that using itunes to sync via the cable will not work, as this creates separate contacts and calendar files on the iphone and so does not provide the syncing solution I seek.
I have tried using google to act as the middle man between my iMac and Exchange server data - getting the iMac to sync to Google Calandar and Google Address Book, and then using a third party piece of software called gsyncit to sync from google to the .ost outlook file on my PC workstation. This works some of the time, but keeps crashing and leaving me with multiple duplicates to have to sort out - much too much hard work on a regular basis.
So I still do not have a solution. Unfortunately upgrading to Exchange server 2007 is not a solution.....
    Any new ideas out there
    Thanks

I don't think there will be a solution to this. Exchange 2003 just isn't supported.

  • How do we sync contacts and calendars (ONLY) between two iCloud accounts, two iPhones and one iMac with two user accounts?

This is complex.  Until today we had one iMac with two user accounts - one for me and the other for my wife.  We sync'd our calendars and contacts between our two user accounts using my iCloud account, thereby keeping our schedules coordinated and our contacts information always the same between us.  Also, as I had an iPhone, I sync'd my phone with my iCloud account, thereby keeping the contacts and calendars in the two user accounts on the iMac AND my iPhone sync'd.  (I also sync'd other things, like Notes and Mail and Safari settings, between my iPhone and my user account on the iMac, but my wife did not want to be burdened with all my emails showing up in her email account and I wasn't interested in hers, etc., so we didn't sync anything between us other than calendars and contacts.)
We've finally bought my wife an iPhone and set up an iCloud account for her.  And of course she now wants to sync several items from HER account on our iMac to HER iPhone, but I don't want them, just as she doesn't want all of my other stuff.  But we still want our mutual calendars and contacts to sync to HER new iPhone, just like they already do to mine.  But I can't figure out how to CHANGE her iMac user account from using MY iCloud account on the iMac to using HER new iCloud account, and then having HER iCloud account speak to MY iCloud account but share JUST our calendars and contacts.
Originally I tried a workaround by simply having her iPhone log into my iCloud account.  That works great for the calendars and the contacts.  But...she can't sync anything else from her iMac account to her new iPhone because she's presently "forced" to use my iCloud account.  And neither of us want to sync our other things to each other's iMac accounts or iPhones.  Also as we're both using my iCloud account, in things like the Find My iPhone app, the Cloud is seeking two phones labeled with my name and none with her's.  So we definitely don't want this as the set-up and communications network between our devices.
We want to set up our users on the iMac to sync to our SEPARATE AND DIFFERENT iCloud accounts and then have those iCloud accounts sync calendars and contacts (ONLY) between themselves, and then push that data to our separate iPhones (or the other way, from either of our iPhones to the individual accounts on our iMac and the other person's iPhone).  Does this description make sense to you?  I've diagramed it nicely using Keynote, but even thiough I can draw it, I can't figure out how to set up and configure all the devices to make it work.  If you would like me to send the Keynote slides (just two of them - the current and desired configurations - please send your email address to me at [email protected] and I'll be happy to forward it to you.
If anyone can help me set this up I'd be most appreciative!  Thanks so much.  Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all readers in this community!

    BobT.
I had the same problem, and decided to look into it last night.
First of all, the solution I would like to have is for Apple to allow for selection of iCloud accounts per application, i.e. Contacts to one, Photo Stream to another. I believe this would be the most straight forward solution for the problem we are facing.
Since this is not an option I came up with a workaround. I was most interested in solving this for Contacts, so this is what I tested for. Now I have all 3 devices with the same contacts.
    1) Turn off iCloud for Contacts on all devices. On the device that has the Contacts list that you would like to propagate to all others select to keep the contacts, and on the others select not to keep them.
Note that the current backups still exist on iCloud, so in case something goes wrong you can still turn the iCloud for Contacts back on to get your current Contacts back.
    2) In iTunes, sync All Contacts with the phones, starting with the one with the Contacts content you chose to keep.
From this point on, the 3 devices should sync contacts with each other.
This, of course, will stop your iCloud backups of Contacts, but I don't think this is really needed. You are already storing copies of your Conacts on 3 devices, which for good parts of the day are likely not all co-located. You also potentially have Time Machine backups turned on, which would mean there is a 4th copy there as well. For the case of Contacts iCloud only complicates matter ... that is until Apple implements the solution I first wrote about.
