Contacts and calendar syncing issue

I have both an iPhone 3G and 3Gs with the latest software.
In the past, if I had conflicting or different contacts in either my address book or iPhone, iTunes would ask me which is correct before syncing. Now, it just syncs whatever it thinks is correct.
Does anyone know how to activate the warning window that asks me which contact is correct?
I've had a few contacts already deleted and I'm sick of it.
Automatically syncing is turned off both on the info tab and on the preferences. None of the "Advanced" options are checked on the Info tab...
I have no idea why iTunes stopped asking me which contact / calendar is correct.
Help!

That warning dialog is actually managed by iSync. Launch Applications > iSync, select iSync menu > Preferences, check the box to Show Data Change Alert... and set the pop-up to 'any'.

  • Contacts and calendar syncing independent of iCloud Drive?

I assume contacts and calendar syncing is independent of the use of iCloud Drive?
In other words: on iOS7 and older, you cannot use iCloud Drive  but you can sync contacts and calender with iOS8 devices (and Yosemite). Correct?

    Hey lexvo;
That is correct. For more information on iCloud Drive and iCloud Contacts, check out the following resources:

  • Why arent my contacts and calendar syncing

i just got a new macbook, i turn on icloud on all my devices but other then pictures, nothing is syncing onto the macbook.... what am i doing wrong, or not doing?

Are you using iCloud? If so, did you somehow log into www.icloud.com and accidently delete Contacts and/or Calendar entries? Or did you uncheck iCloud as a source for Contacts and Calendars in those applications? Maybe only 'On My Mac' is selected in those apps and that is empty for Contacts and Calendars.

  • Contact and Calendar sync problems on iPhone and iPad

Here is the deal. I have an iPhone and iPad. Everytime I sync one, then the other I get the message that the iPhone or iPad is sync'd with a different user. I am the only one on this PC and only one account. And the Contacts and Calendar are unchecked for sync every time. I have to manually check them. It is like my iPad and iPhone do not like to be sync'd to the same Apple account. I want information for contacts and calendar to be the same on both. Advice????

Synced with a different user, or with a different iTunes library?
You are syncing contacts and calendar events with which supported address book and calendar app on your computer?
The iTunes account has nothing to do with syncing contacts and calendar events with a supported address book and calendar app on your computer, but it does have something to do with syncing iTunes content.

  • Alternative "Cloud" for Contacts and Calendar Sync

After trying and giving up on Mobileme i am looking for an alternative to sync my OUTLOOK calendar and contacts between Home PC (Outlook 2003) Work PC (Exchange 2003 and Outlook 2007) and my Iphone, I really dont care how its done but i just want real time sync if possible (Paid or Free).
Thank you in advance for any help.
    Mark

    Mark,
If you have an Exchange Server you should use Active Sync, this gives you real time calendar, contacts and mail sync to your works mail server. You can then configure you home PC to connect to Exchange using Outlook Over Internet (OOI) access, this way everything syncs up to Exchange.
A common mis-understanding is that people assume your home PC has to be part of your work Domain for OOI to work, this is not true as long as you import the security certificate from the server.

  • Sync Services: Advanced troubleshooting for contact and calendar syncing

Apple has posted a new technical note outlining procedures for dealing with contact and event synchronization anomalies when the following conditions apply, and a reset has not resolved the issues:
    • your issue does not involve MobileMe
    • you have already reset MobileMe
    • you've already performed the Reset Sync History procedure
Recommendations are categorized by their relationship to calendar data and contacts, and links to each procedure can be found in the technical note.

These errors seem to be due to syncing via iCloud and iTunes Apple advises to use one or the other, see reference link: If you see duplicate contacts after setting up iCloud Contacts - Apple Support.
Before correcting these duplication errors I highly recommend backing up your info. see reference link:
Archive or make copies of your iCloud data - Apple Support  to backup your info.  Make sure to backup iCal, Address Book, Mail, etc. before and after de-duplicating.

  • Gmail/Exchange email and calendar syncing issues

I have wiped my email accounts several times and entered in my data in the various ways as shown through the forums but my email accounts do no sync properly whether it is manual or active synced.
I read my emails in my gmail and my Microsoft exchange account and will delete or file them away but then when I check my accounts on my desktop, they are not synced as I've done so on my phone. I've also noticed that my calendars are not synced correctly either.
Could someone help me understand why and how these issues can be fixed? I'm in meetings for most of the day so I rely on my phone to keep me mobile. Was this a bad purchase?!?!

How do you have your Microsoft Exchange account configured on your BlackBerry Z10? Are you using ActiveSync, BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES), IMAP or POP?

  • Will local (cloudless) contacts and calendar sync  be possible in future ?

Local adressbook and calendar synchronisation seems to be gone with OS X Mavericks. Is there any hope to get it back?  Or are there other possibilities to synch without using iCloud?

my feedback on apples page. i can only encourage people who bother to do the same:
    Hi dear
I would like to express how MUCH it annoys me, that synch by USB/WiFi isn't possible anymore under Mavericks.
You know, I really love Apple products. I think there are great. But sometimes your greatness becomes a weakness. When it goes too far pushing customers on what Apple thinks is necessary.
Guy honestly - my data are my data. I don't mistrust you. I don't mistrust anybody. I simply don't want to have my calendar, contacts or any other data in a cloud. Not iCloud nor Amazon nor anything.
Sure, I can rollback to mountain lion, use it together with my iPhone until it's not supported anymore and then change to a competitor.
I know - little threat for you. ;-) But it's not about that. It's about a sensitiv topic. There is a fair amount of people how doesn't like being patronized in such a way.
I hope it was underestimated how sensitiv many people about their data are and not just a strategical decision accepting that many don't like it. If latter is the case please let me know. Then I can act accordningly.
Much more I hope synchronizing of calendar and contacts inbetween iphone/itune with USB/WiFi will be possible again like it was.
I am looking forward to your feedback.

  • Contacts and Calendar unable to sync

Yesterday my iPhone started having a problem syncing Contacts and Calendars. As far as I know, I changed no settings on either my phone or my computer to cause this to happen. I'm using a Mac with OSX Tiger, syncing through the USB cable with iTunes.
I first found that my calendars would not sync in either direction (iCal > phone or vice versa). The "Sync calendars" box was definitely checked, but when I tried to sync, it skips over the calendar sync process altogether (it used to display "Syncing calendars..." for a few seconds in the top of the iTunes window back before it stopped working, but not anymore).
I did a restore on my phone, losing my contacts and calendars that were already on there, and discovered that the contacts weren't syncing as well (despite most definitely being set to sync in iTunes), leaving me with a blank contact list. Other things such as Applications and Photos are able to sync perfectly fine. Here are things I've tried after reading some discussions, to no avail:
-Restoring the phone (both to a backup and as a new iPhone)
-Unchecking/rechecking "Sync Calendars/Contacts" boxes in iTunes, including experimenting with "all contacts" vs certain groups of contacts and calendars
-Resetting my Sync history in iSync
-Creating a new user account, with test contacts and calendar appointments (also failed to transfer)
    -Hard resetting the phone
None of these seems to have helped the problem. It's as if my computer doesn't realize that I've checked the boxes to sync anything under the "Info" tab in iTunes.
Any ideas that I haven't tried yet? Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi Thomas,
Did contacts and calendar sync in another user account?
Have you installed any software that takes over syncing on your Mac? Maybe software that would let you sync a Windows Mobile phone.
If the issue is happening in all user accounts, try reinstalling iTunes as described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1224
If the issue is only happening in one user account, there may be an issue with the SyncServices folder which is described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1865

  • Contacts and calendar wont sync on iphone 4

I can no longer sync calendars and contacts on my iphone 4. Running the latest iTunes and iPhone software. Running all the latest Snow Leopard updates.
It used to work - not sure what caused it to break. I have spent hours trouble shooting, viewing forums, google searches etc.
I have recently upgraded from Leopard to Snow Leopard roughly about the same time the issue started to exist - not exactly sure when it first started to appear, so don't really know if it is the upgrade that caused it or not.
When syncing, it freezes when trying to synch contacts. If I turn off Contacts synching, then it freeze while trying to sync calendars. If I turn off both Contact and Calendar Sync, the rest of the phone syncs fine. Only occurs with Contacts and Calendars.
I have tried following the steps from this document: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2481
Basically exporting contacts, deleting them and reimporting them. This did not solve the problem.
I have tried whipping the iphone clean and restoring from backup - this did not solve the problem.
I have tried whipping the iphone and creating a new iphone account and synching was still an issue.
I don't know what else I can do to solve this issue.
    Please help.

Hi, could you specify what you did. It appears that nothing on my iPhone syncs any more. I have an iMac and iPhone 4 running the latest system updates. Thanks!

  • HT1386 Can you assist me with sync from my iphone to pc?  I want my data to merge, but contacts and calendar are  not updating

Where are the settings to merge data (calendar and contacts) when syncing phone to pc?

    Hello Mary,
It is definitely inconvenient when your contacts are not syning over correctly.  If you are using iTunes to sync Outlook to your iPhone, I recommend the following article to troubleshoot the issue:
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Troubleshooting contact and calendar syncing via USB on Windows

  • Contacts and calendar won't sync.

Itunes page says contacts and calendar sync over the air thru Mobile mel. I don't use Mobile Me! Not since that colossal introduction nearly froze my phone. How do I get it changed back to a hard sync through itunes? And, Why can't I send mail using wifi only (with edge turned off) Works on my buddy's phone but not mine!

If you have deleted your MM email account from your iPhone and you have synced your iPhone with iTunes since - the email account settings should no longer be included with your iPhone's backup.
Sync your iPhone with iTunes followed by restoring your iPhone with iTunes from your iPhone's backup. This must be followed by a sync. If your MM email account settings are restored with your iPhone's backup, this means something is wrong with your iPhone's backup. You can check this before syncing. Check under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences to see if syncing direct with the Address Book and iCal on your Mac via the iTunes sync process is available again.
Did you transfer the email account settings for your Cox account from your Mac to your iPhone via the iTunes sync process? If so and after restoring your iPhone with iTunes from your iPhone's backup doesn't resolve the sending problem with your Cox account, delete the account from your iPhone and try manually recreating the account. If this works, be sure to deselect transferring the account settings from your Mac to your iPhone via the iTunes sync process or any changes made when manually recreating the account on your iPhone will be overwritten.

  • Contacts and Calendar Generating Error Logs

Although my contacts and calendar sync perfectly with my Gmail account, I get error messages in the Console when using my early 08 MacBook Pro but not on my mid 2011 Mac Mini. I have two way verfification enabled with my Google accounts. Below are the relevant error messages from the Console. I changed my username to "username" in the listings. Is there any way to stop these error messages? The error messages don't seem to be valid since everything syncs properly with my Android phone and my Gmail account regardless of if I add or delete from either Apple or Google. Also my Mac Mini doesn't display these error messages. I'm ending up with a bloated log file because of this. Both computers are using OS X 10.8.4

After upgrading to Mavericks the log messages did change for Google as well other items. I think all these "error" messages are of no real consequence in most cases. If you use the Console App you will definitely see more items just in booting up than anyone would care to see. I think the log only holds a couple of days worth of items or at least only displays that much. I get Air Play errors even though I don't use Air Play or just because I don't as an example of other error messages that don't really matter. I never had a problem with my Calendar working with Google's calendar other than the update sometimes took a while to reach the Android phone or the MacBook.
So, the solution for me is to ignore the Console logs unless I have a problem with something. Maybe then, it might be of some use. I'm not going to worry about the small amount of disk space the log takes up.
However, I wouldn't say anyone should have to update to Mavericks just to change the Console log messages. The latest update of Mavericks is finally working nicely with my Android phone and my Gmail but it was not so for my Gmail in the beginning with Apple Mail - but that it another story.
