Contacts and iCloud question(s)-

1) I have TWO iCloud accounts – one with a user “me.com” from my MM migration and a gmail.com user name from when I set up iCloud originally. My iMac is connected to both accounts but is showing that the me.com address is my “primary” iCloud account. I can log in to iCloud via the web on both accounts. Is there any way to get rid of one of them? I can see this becoming a big problem later and believe that this may be part of my other problem…
2) I have a new iPhone with all my contacts from my old iPhone. I deleted the contacts on my iMac in the hopes that I can transfer/sync from my iPhone to my iMac. When I deleted my contacts from my iMac it deleted all the contacts in iCloud (I know, I know...). All the suggestions where you go through iTunes and turn off the auto sync and manually sync the contacts in the hopes that the contacts are ‘merged’ has not worked. All I want to do is get the contacts from my phone onto my iMac and or iCloud so my contacts can propagate to the other devices – is there an easy way of doing this or am I just waiting for my empty address book in iCloud to wipe out my iPhone contacts?

Update...
1) Second account abandoned and all devices pointing to 'main' iCloud account.
2) Turned off iCloud sync on iPhone and iPad - turned off iPhone and iPad (they have the same contact list roughly) - turned on iPhone - turned on iCloud sync of contacts - hit "Merge" - success. Contacts are now in iCloud and on iMac as well as all of my other devices ~ **whew**

On your iOS device tap Settings > iCloud. Turn Contacts off.

Me too, I want to be able to synch other devices with my laptop but on trying it has deleted all contacts on my blackberry and will not synch either calendar or contacts.

Difficulty keeping Google Contacts and iCloud in sync

I have an iPhone, an iPad, and a Gmail account. I'd like to keep my contacts consistent across all of them, but I'm finding this to be very difficult.
I followed the instructions on here which seemed to work for editing linked contacts. But there is a problem with this approach: when using my iphone, I can only add contacts on one of the two accounts (either gmail or icloud) but not both at the same time. If I'm in "all contacts" and click the add contact button, it will only add a contact in the account designated as "default account" in the iOS contact settings.
Is there a better way to keep all contacts synced?

Since you are using Google, you might consider not trying to add iCloud in the mix, and just sync your Google contacts to your iDevices. There are many web pages which will walk you through how to setup your Google account on your iPhone or iPad as if it were an Exchange account. Going that route, you can then select to sync your contacts over the air between Google and your mobile device. I used that for about a year, then I made the full switch to iCloud.I've debated about going back, but I haven't gotten that desperate yet.

First, you two should have different IDs for icloud if you currently don't. If one of you turned off icloud syncing of contacts while having the device connected to the other's icloud account, then you probably were told that this would delete the data on the device and would you like to merge the icloud contacts with those currently on the device (which may have included the other set of contacts). If you said yes, then the two sets of contacts were merged. If you both now have your own IDs set for icloud, then go through the contacts and delete those you don't want. Once they are merged (mixed), there's no easy way to clean up the mess.

Facebook contacts and icloud issue

Let me get these specs out first, 5s with 8.1.1. Ive contacted apple and since its not their app I understand so Im reaching out to the community for help. I have my icloud contacts on my phone but with facebook they are supposed to be linked together including profile pics. Had this on my android and its a fun feature I enjoy. Now my problem is this, they dont sync like they are supposed to. Each contact has that persons fb profile in the contact but nothing more. When I show all my fb contacts on my phone profile pics from users that I dont have saved with phone contact info, etc..that info shows up including pictures, but icloud contact info it just shows the grey box with initals. Cant merge them either from Icloud. Hope this made sense the way I wrote it. Thanks.

iCloud is only supposed to sync contacts in iCloud. It's not supposed to sync Yahoo, Facebook and Hotmail. Those are separate services which have their own sync functions you setup independently.

Welcome to the Apple community.
Unfortunately you cannot unmerge your data, you will have to separate it manually once you have created and logged into your own iCloud accounts for each user. It is using the same iCloud account that has caused your data to become merged.

Contacts and Google question

Can someone describe to me how your contacts and synching them with Google work? I noticed today that some contacts were missing on my iPhone after I deleted than re-set up my phone with Microsoft Exchange. Most numbers and calendars will all synched.
I assumed that any contact you enter in your phone would automatically get stored with Google and re-synch anytime. Thanks for clarification.
*Also, aside from Google synching, are there also contacts in iTunes that are synching with my phone?

* ITunes are just a tool to sync with default program that can contain contacts. For mac it can be Address book or Contacts. for windows - outlook, yahoo, Google, windows contacts.

HT1267 ive synced with my house mates itunes and have lost my contacts and icloud is now his account how do i fix this?

What do you mean by "edit icloud accounts"?
Were you backing up to iCloud? If you were, just wipe it (Settings>General>Resets>Erase All Content and Settings) and restore it from your iCloud backup.

Syncing Contacts Using iCloud Question

I have an iPhone 4 and the latest 32gb iPad running 6.0. I have had the phone for about 18 months and the iPad for about 3 months. Contact sync is turned ON on both devices but I am missing several contacts on the iPad that are on the phone. Any suggestions? Thanks for any help.

Trouble with contacts and icloud

When I add a new contact to my iphone it does not save it to my icloud. I have it linked to my icloud and I still have to manually add my contacts on the icloud website. How can I get my contacts to automatically sync to icloud?

Check Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars...scroll down to the Contacts section and tap Default Account. Be sure this is set to your iCloud account and not something else like an exchange account. If you don't see the Default Account setting in the contacts section, or if you do but your iCloud account is already selected there, go to Settings>iCloud and turn Contacts to Off. When prompted, choose to Keep on iPhone. Then turn it back On and see if it syncs properly now.

IPad contacts and iCloud

In iCloud I have 1207 contacts, which are mirrored on my iPad if I show only iCloud contacts. However, if I select show only "On my iPad" contacts I have a total of 1220, and if I choose to show all contacts I have a total of 1232 contacts. I assume I have created a number of contacts on my iPad, but is there an easy way to see only the contacts that aren't in iCloud?

That could be the reason, or I might have added some records to iPad contacts rather than iCloud. But what I'd like to know is how do I see only the ones that are just in "On my iPad" I think there may not be a way.

I have a problem coordinating my iPhone5 contact list. I have my iCloud contacts on my outlook but they don't sync with my phone. I signon to ICloud on my PC and the contacts are a combination of all sources...I want what is on my Outlook iCloud directory but am unable to sync it...so frustrated

Multiple GMail Accounts Contacts and Calendar Questions

I have a few GMail accounts, one of which I just created to keep a cleaned up version of my contacts on which leads me to my first question.
Is there a way to set the iPhone 3G up to be able to use my Contact list from GMail account A and yet when I click on Mail it gathers mail from GMail account B?
Also has anyone been able to setup Push communication with Google Calendar to be able to sync Google Calendar back and forth with the iPhone 3G without using software like Outlook?

Someone must have multiple GMail accounts; I am going to tamper around tonight and see what I can come up with but my main GMail account has contacts that don't need to be on my phone (and I can cut my list in half easily by getting rid of them).

Can you help me with contacts and iCloud?

I updated my MacBook Pro and my contacts are messed up. I have hundreds of contacts on my Mac (saved to a thumb drive) and only 3 in my iCloud account.
