Contacts and Skype, problems.

When I try to add a contact in Mac Mail, the Skype application suddenly starts instead. Does anyone know how to prevent or change this?

Ok I just talked to support via chat and apparently this is a known iPhone mobile App issue.  This is exactly what he said to me: "I was informed that this issue already have a ticket to our engineers and they are already working on this one. This has something to do with the latest version of Skype for tablets and mobiles.  We may release another version of Skype app so once an update is avaialble, update the app on your phone ASAP." Hope this ease some frustration.

    I am using 8320. I have been having problems with opening websites and accessing MSN and Skype (Yahoo Messenger works) recently. The technical officer from my ISP just solved my website browsing problem by doing a hard reset but MSN and Skype are still refusing to work. For MSN, I always to log in but right after that it says there is an internal error and I should try later. This has been going on for a couple of weeks so I don't think it is a server problem. I was also able to use Skpe one week ago. 
    What should I do now? The technical officer said I am left with my last option, which is to do a "wipe_handheld" (everything will be erased!!).

    you can try using another application for Blackberry
    that will allow you to connect to the MSN network.
    I don't know of any, maybe webmessenger something ?

  • FaceTime and Skype problem

    Hey guys, I need help cos I'm seriously getting ticked off ! I moved from the UK to Florida in March .. Up til then my FaceTime and Skype worked perfectly as I was using both to talk to my now wife every day for hours. Since March and updating to iOS 6.1.3 and now the new ios7 updates neither one will work when calling any other apple device. This has also stopped working on my ipod and iPhone. If I FaceTime anyone it freezes instantly and no call lasts longer than a few seconds. Same with Skype. But if I use my iPad to Skype a PC then it works fine. This is really frustrating me and have tried all the normal fixes even spoke to Brighthouse on the weekend as Apple told me that it could be my router, but as Brighthouse stated, my speed of internet is just over more than what I pay for and if my PC will Skype to Skype plus if my iPad will Skype to PC then it's not the internet. Anyone else come across this ?

    Back up all data.
    Launch the Font Book application and validate all fonts. You must select the fonts in order to validate them. See the built-in help and this support article for instructions. If Font Book finds any issues, resolve them.
    From the application's menu bar, select
    File ▹ Restore Standard Fonts...
    You'll be prompted to confirm, and then to enter your administrator login password.
    Boot in safe mode to rebuild the font caches. Boot again as usual and test.
    Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t boot in safe mode. In that case, ask for instructions.
    Also note that if you deactivate or remove any built-in fonts, for instance by using a third-party font manager, the system may become unstable.

  • Ipad and skype problem

    When I use skype on our new Ipad my video works, but the person I can not see the person I am shatting with.  It just continues to say "initating contact".  I have read about other having this problem, but is there a solution?  Thanks!

  • Lumia 720 and Skype problems

    I keep on having problems with brand new 720 an Skype app. It does not happen everytime, but:
    - I'm able to freeze the device just by making few calls (ie. to test service).
    - sometimes also anwering a call breaks: voice is active but phone screen shows black screen with "Loading..." text.
    Anyone else experiencing similar problems ?

    Welcome to the forum!
    You can try the following tips:
    1. Close any running applications in the background that requires internet connection. This can also be one of the reasons why the phone freezes. 
    2. Make sure you have a stable connection to avoid disruption of calls and showing the black screen with "Loading..." text. 
    If the above mentioned tips didn't help, you can also try pressing and holding both the volume down button and the power key for 10 seconds to reset your phone. Note that your files are safe while doing this.

    Hello i have recently updated to mountion lion 10.8.5 but the problem is everything works except my photobooth .facetime... and other video/ camera options ...
    tried resetting the smc...taking the battery out ..etc and i also know it isnt a hardware problem because it was working just fine before the update..Is anyone else having this same problem?

    if you've done an SMC reset and the issue still persists in all the applications that use the internal camera there may be a hardware issue.
    you need to see if the internal camera is listed in the system profile:
    click on black apple, about this mac, more info, system report and under the hardware section. click on USB look to the left and make sure the HD facetime camera is showing up there if it's not the mac needs serviced so take to apple store or service provider to have it looked at for repair.

  • C1-01 Contacts and Date problems

    Hi,
    Just got a C1 and can't transfer anything over using the neat Bluetooth 'phone switch' facility.  I am trying to get details from my old Nokia 6230i.  It pairs okay, but says 'Data transfer not possible.  Check data connection.'  I tried it with a Nokia 5300 and it was able to import contacts but not text or MMS messages.  Any ideas?
    Another minor question.  I turned off display date and can't work out how to switch it back on.  There doesn't seem to be an option in 'display' or 'date and dime'. It has gone from the main desktop and the home screen.  Thanks.

    My company do Lync and Skype federation that I found the problem below:
    1. If user has used Microsoft Lync and federate with Skype by using Microsoft Account, it connected. but If Skype user is not Microsoft Account, they have used Skype ID. they shows Presence Unknown.
    2. Some Skype user that used Microsoft Account, they will not receive invitation. when Lync user invite Skype user. 

    1. The Skype ID must be associated with a Microsoft ID in order to work. This is why you receive "Presence Unknown" with non-Microsoft ID enabled accounts. See here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn440172.aspx specifically:
    "All Skype users wishing to connect to a Lync user must have a Microsoft Account associated with their Skype IDs and sign in using the
    Microsoft Account.  This can be enabled within the Skype client."
    2. Do those Skype users have a Microsoft account paired with their Skype ID? If not, they won't receive an invitation, because the invite
    is never sent to them. Can you give more detail on the users that don't receive the invite, is there something they have in common?

  • Skype V. 7.6 (409) Mac audio and video problems

    I am getting inconsistent problems with audio and video. Here are the problems when calling three different contacts.
    1. Audio to Audio worked fine with my first contact, but trying to add video crashed the audio. This happened when I tried to add video, and also when the other person tried to add video. These same problems persisted regardless of who called whom. In the end, we had a good audio to audio conversation and were also able to send messages and share files without problems.
    2. My audio and video were received by the second contact, but I could not receive audio or video from them. These same problems persisted regardless of who called whom. In the end, I used audio and video while the other person typed messages in response.
    3. My audio and video were received by the third contact, and I could receive their video, but they could not hear my audio. These same problems persisted regardless of who called whom. We didn't bother trying to continue our conversation.  
    So, I checked all my settings to ensure audio and video were properly set up. Also, I made a successful skype test call. It is very puzzling to me since the results were inconsistent with each of these contacts. If the same problem existed at my end, then I could expect a hardware or driver issue on my computer, but sometimes the other person had the problem, I think. Can anyone help? Cheers

    Standard troubleshooting...
    1. Try a Restart by pressing the sleep/lock button until you see the slider.  Slide to power off.  Restart by pressing the sleep/lock button until you see the Apple logo.
    2. Try a Reset by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.
    3. Remove apps from Recently Used (multi-tasking) list...
    - From any Home Screen, double tap the home button to bring up the Recents List
    - Swipe up on the app preview card to remove it from the list
    - Press the home button when done.
    4. If still a problem restore with your backup.
    5. If still a problem restore as new, i.e. without your backup. See how it runs with nothing synced to it.
    6. If still a problem, it's likely a hardware issue.

    Try a reset by pressing and holding the home and power buttons for 15-20 seconds until the white Apple logo appears.

    Did you check your security software settings? eliminating conflicts from third-party security software.

  • Following the most recent IOS IPhone update our Iphone calendars, contacts and messages have all merged. This problem has never happened before. We all use the same Itunes account as a family and one AppleID. Does anyone know the cause of this problem?

    We have 4 Iphones. As a family we have happily shared the same ITunes account and one AppleID. After the most recent iPhone IOS update all our contacts and calendars have merged and we randomly receive some messages that one of us has sent to another contact.
    This is causing chaos.
    Can anyone help me with:
    1. Has anyone experienced a similar problem recently?
    2. The records to the individual phones have not been saved been saved separately. After this merging of all the data into one composite record, is there anyway to reverse the change and restore the phones to just their individual records?
    3. I guess that the cause may be the common AppleID. I have tried to create my own AppleID but my personal email address is already linked to the existing AppleID so I am blocked from setting up a separate AppleID in my own name. Does anyone know how I can get around this block?
    4. Would it be better to create a separate Apple ICloud address for each of us as well? How do I do this?

    This is exactly what happens when sharing a single Apple ID for iCloud and iMessage.  Why would you expect any different?

    As I said in the other thread that you posted in the other forum, your friend clearly has not restored the iPad correctly. I suggest that you undertake another restore and start again.

    Welcome to the Apple community.
    Given what you've have described, your friend cannot have restored the iPad correctly. You need to decide whether you are willing to delete his contacts manually, or carry out another restore. Personally I think I would go for the restore.
