Contacts App locks up every time
Hello All
I have about 300 contacts right now. I had 1700, but it killed the responsiveness of my phone so I had to pare it down, but that's another topic for another day...
Anyway, when I select the "Contact" icon from my home screen, the app opens up, I see the contacts, but the phone locks up for about 10 seconds, and then is fine. If I open my contacts from the "phone" app, it opens right up and I can browse my contacts immediately. Any thoughts?
518 contacts here. The Contacts app used to freeze up on me and shut down sometimes but now it just seems to bog a little when searching or jumping by letter. But nonetheless its a little slow.

I have Photoshop Elements 10 on a new Mac, using Yosemite 10.1.1 - PE locks up every time I try to sign in. This software was restored to this computer from Time Machine after a theft of my old Mac. How can I fix this? It keeps telling me that there are missing files, too. If I upgrade to Elements 12 or beyond, will this fix the problem?
You can't sign in because there is nothing to sign in to. For PSE 10 the only sign in was to photoshop.com, which has been dead and gone for a year and half. Just skip the sign in. Reinstalling will not change this.

PSE is locking up because it's looking interminably for the non-existent photoshop.com server. -
Preview locks up every time I try to print a pdf.
Hello all, got a problem that popped up this afternoon, hopefully I can get some help. I've been using preview since I installed lion last week without issue. This morning I was printing from it with no problem, all of the sudden now it locks up every time I try to print, I have to use option, command, esc. to get out of the program. I've been searching quite a bit and can't find a solution, would appreciate any help, thanks!
I have been having this issue as well - permissions settings (in other posts) didn't fix it.
I went into system preferences and set the default printer as a one of my brother printers instead of "last used" (which was pointing to my canon)... I can now print in Preview to PDF or my other printers but if i select my printer as the canon - it locks up again -so at least that narrows it down and i am now able to print to PDF (and my other printers) from preview. hope it helps somone to get access to other printers and the pdf functionin Preview (haven't checked textedit yet) -
I'm not able to download free apps from App Store. Every time I try a message encounters me showing some billing information. That doesn't make any sense as I just need to download free app. What should I do? Please guide me someone.
If you only want the free apps, take a look here:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2534
Read the steps carefully as the order in which you follow them is critical. Note that you can do this only when creating a new Apple ID. You cannot use an existing ID.
You will of course not be able to get anything other than the free apps without entering in some sort of payment method (credit card, prepaid iTunes card, gift certificate, etc.)
Regards.

How do I stop apps from reloading every time I unlock my iPhone?
How do I stop apps from reloading every time I unlock my iPhone? I have an iPhone 4 and at least 95% of the time I unlock it, some apps act as though they are reinstalling. It only lasts for about 3 seconds if that but it makes me feel like something is wrong with it. Does anyone else have this problem??

Could you explain what you mean by this? What is happening that makes you think they're reinstalling? -

iPhoto 9.4.3 locks up every time I try to do cards or photo books. Any solutions?
As a test launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library. Import some photos and test to see if the same problem persists. Does it?

Safari locks up every time I try to log into a website
This just began happening about a week ago. It does not matter which website, but almost every time I submit a login form to any website Safari locks up and I must force it to quite. This has happened on Twitter, Hootsuite, Facebook, online banking and at least a dozen other sites. I can connect fine using third party authorizations like Google.

Hi...
Go to ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
For Lion v10.7x: To find the Home folder in OS X Lion, open the Finder, hold the Option key, and choose Go > Library
Move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Try Safari.
If that didn't help ...
This has happened on Twitter, Hootsuite, Facebook, online banking and at least a dozen other sites.
Open Keychain Access located in /Applications/Utilities
Select Password on the left. Use the search field top right corner of that window to find all the sites you have problems with. Once you locate the keychain, right or control click the keychain then click Delete.
Then from the Keychain Access menu bar click Keychain Access > Keychain First Aid
Quit then relaunch Safari.
/Applications/Cobook.app/Contents/MacOS/Cobook
Using a third party contacts app rather than the native Mac OS X pre installed Address Book located in your Applications folder may not be helping matters any.
/Applications/Akamai
You don't need the Adami software. Use Download AppCleaner for Mac
http://superuser.com/questions/77591/how-do-i-get-rid-of-adobe-download-akamai-s oftware-on-a-mac -
I only sign in to iTunes' store about once a week or so. But during each of my last 3 attempts (on different days, several days apart) on my first attempt to enter my password and hit submit, I am immediately told that my Apple account has been locked for security reasons and it wants to take me to a page to reset my 'forgotten' password. I am using the CORRECT password.
Perhaps someone else is trying to break into my account or is mis-entering theirs but my account should not be getting locked like this. It is very frustrating to have to go through the reset password procedure each and every time I want to go into the store. It seems to me that Apple really doesn't want me to buy any more apps from them as they keep refusing me entry into my own account, each and every time I have tried to use it, for the past few weeks. I am not their best customer, but they aren't giving me much of a welcome invitation to become one, if I'm going to be treated like this.
I just bought my iPhone 4 less than 2 months ago. I paid extra money to upgrade early, just to get this phone because it was so highly recommended by everyone I spoke with in different stores (BestBuy and Verizon). I even bought the 2 year upgrade to my Apple services in case I needed to ever call them, and so far I haven't had to, yet. But I definitely will call them if this isn't straightened out.
It looks like this other user could be tracked and an email could be sent to them from Apple to let them know what they are doing - trying to sign into the wrong account, and are locking somebody else out of their own account because of their error....and to remind them of their correct information or how to get it and to write it down or save it somewhere so they don't keep on doing this.
I have seen literally DOZENS of other people in these discussions with exactly the same issue that I'm having so it is NOT an isolated incident, and it seems to be a growing problem as Apple's sales and user base continues to grow, so this problem is seriously needing to be addressed in some way, and soon, before they start losing new customers because of it. If I was still within my original 14 day return period with this phone, I would definitely be returning it and buying an Android model because of how frustrating this is to me. If my bank was doing this to me, I'd have already switched banks by now if they hadn't fixed it - just to give an example of how I feel about this. For what it's worth, you posted this in 2011, and here in 2014 I am still having this same issue. Over the last two days, I have had to unlock my apple account 8 times. I didn't get any new devices. I haven't initiated a password reset. I didn't forget my password. I set up two factor authentication and have been able to do the unlocking with the key and using a code sent to one of my devices.
That all works.
It's this having to unlock my account every time I go to use any of my devices. And I have many: iMac, iPad, iPad2, iPad mini, iPhone 5s, iPod touch (daughter), and my old iPhone 4 being used as an ipod touch now. They are all synced, and all was working just fine.
I have initiated an incident with Apple (again) but I know they are just going to suggest I change my Apple ID. It's a simple one, and one that I am sure others think is theirs. I don't want to change it. I shouldn't have to. Apple should be able to tell me who is trying to use it, or at least from where.
Thanks for listening,
Melissa -
Contacts app stops all the time i open it.
Every time i try to connect to my Xperia Z2 Contacts app or Phone, it automatically bugs it and i have 2 errors messages, depending on the time :
- the Contacts application has unfortunatly stopped
or
- the com.andriod.phone processing has unfortunatly stopped
And when i finally manage to call someone, it cuts the call within the next 60sec....
Any guess how to stop that happening ? Where the pb is coming from ? It is really becoming an hassle not to be able to telephone on a telephone.
Thank you all,
Jet K

Hi Hussain,
Thanks for the reply
What do you mean by clear data ? Reinitiate the phone = erase everything ?
If I do so, how can i keep all my data and reinstal them later one ?
Thanks
No. I mean if you go into settings, then Apps, then go in the All tab then look for Contacts, click on it, then scroll down and click the clear data.
Do the same for Phone.
Before you do this try backing up your contacts. But you have to do this through the Contacts app itself so I think it's going to be hard.
If you can access contacts, then go into it, click the three dots at the bottom and select 'Export Conatacts'.
Hope this helps. -
Safari locks up every time I try to delete a bookmark
Every time I try to delete a bookmark in Safari the computer locks up. It doesn't matter what method I use to get rid of the bookmark, it locks everything up and I have to force quit the app. This has happened on the last 3 computers (an older Mac Pro and 2 iMacs). But it seemed to work ok on my MacBook Air. I recently upgraded to Yosemite, but this has gone on long before that. I gave up using Safari and use Chrome but was hoping with the new OS I could weed out some old bookmarks.
Any suggestions?
Thansks, SueLaunch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select

Hiding Aperture Locks it Every Time
When I open an Aperture image in Photoshop for additional editing I prefer to have all other apps hidden. Hiding Aperture causes it to lock up to the degree that I can do nothing within Aperture. Happens every time. It will respond to Cmd-Q, so I quit and restart. Nothing is lost except my time. Ideas? Fix? Workaround? Thanks!
Message was edited by: David IlligDoes Aperture beep or flash when you bring it forward and try to access it? if so Aperture may be putting up a information window which is hidden behind. Sometimes opening and closing other windows will bring the information window to the front.
If thats not the case or doesn't help try turning spaces on and see if that helps. There was another thread not to long ago where some users were saying that Aperture would stop importing if it wasn't the focus window.
