Contacts do not come up when searching through Contacts App

I'm connected to an exchange server. Email, calendar, notes, all come through ok. Even though you can't sort notes by name which is a pain at least they are there. Work decided to give me an Apple iphone over my long trusted Blackberry which I miss horribly. Using the Iphone is more like a toy then anything and its messaging features seem to be all geared towards texting and imessage. Anyway when I load the CONTACTS app and start to search for a user it will not find that user. If I open up the mail app and start an email and start searching for a user, the user will come up fine. It is pulling that from the exchange server fine. I want to know why the CONTACT app isn't doing the same? It is not pulling from the Exchange server. I have deleted the account, created it again, made sure my contacts are to sync, everything I could think of. This prohibits me from looking at a contacts information, which you can't do from within the MAIL app. I also can't add a contact because I can't bring any up. Is this another "bug" that I'm beginning to find out between Iphone and Exchange possibly? Why would the MAIL app bring down the contact(s) I was searching for fine, but the CONTACT app won't? I tool a couple of hours and went through every setting possible and still at the same position I was when I started. I do not use icloud. Any suggestions on this? I have an Iphone 5S.

I have found the solution. There is another "group" called "Exchange Active Sync GAB" which means Global Address Book. You can't put a check mark on this group but you can select it once then prompts you for a search. If you input a search name that is in the Global Address Book it will take a about 10 seconds before it finds it and brings it up. We have over 30,000 addresses and groups in our Global, so it is quite large. I was under the assumption that when I checked ALL CONTACTS that group would be included, but it is not. If I ever want to go back to my own saved contacts I would need to go back into the groups area and select ALL CONTACTS. I wish I could do a search with them all together, but apparently the iphone can't do that right now. This is where I really miss by Blackberry. Blackberry did messaging really well and with the track pad it was a breeze to navigate and operate it. I guess I just miss that and have to get use to the iphone. Kind of weird all high school teenagers have the same exact phone we use in the corporate business world. I think Apple should keep making the iphone but start a new business line model for employees at work in a company. In my opinion there shouldn't be one phone model for ages 10-65. Anyway, just a thought.
