Contacts Duplicating when synced...

I just bought the iphone last week and I backup my contacts using Windows Contact Manager (I don't know anything else I would use, thats just what popped up when I plugged in my iphone) but for some reason whenever I sync my iphone to the itunes it syncs with the Contact manager (which I want it to do since I'm always changing and adding my contacts) but it always creates a second entry for any businesses I have. If I sync my phone 5 times, most of the contacts will be fine but I will see 5 different entries exactly the same of anything I have as a business. Any ideas?

J Liotta,
You may want to reset your sync history:
1. Open iTunes
2. On the Edit menu, click Preferences.
3. Click the Syncing tab.
4. Click the Reset Sync History button.
If you are still having duplicate contacts, try some of the other troubleshooting steps in this article:

Hope this helps,

  • Keeping Contacts & Apps when syncing iPhone with new computer

I just got a new netbook with Windows 7 Starter. I would like to transition from using my current work laptop to the netbook as the manager of my iPhone. When I try to sync my iPhone with the new computer it says that my iPhone's library is linked to another computer. It appears that all of my contacts and apps will be erased if I sync these items on the netbook.
Does anyone know a way that I can keep this information without erasing? I already erased my music content from the iPhone. I foresee a real problem since this netbook doesn't have Outlook and all my contact information is in that format. I also don't want to have my apps all wiped out. Thanks for the help.

iTunes content can be synced or manually managed with an iTunes library on a single computer, and photos can be transferred to the iPhone via the iTunes sync process from a single computer only. When transferring iTunes content and photos from another computer, all iTunes content and photos transferred from a different computer will be erased from your iPhone first.
No other content is touched or erased when doing so including iPhone contacts especially if you don't select to sync contacts with a supported application on a new computer.
iTunes includes an option to transfer iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store, but this is for iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store only. With your iPhone connected and without syncing, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPhone. If you haven't activated the new computer with your iTunes account with iTunes, you should do so before doing this.
With Windows, contacts can be synced with Outlook 2003 or 2007 along with calendar events, or with Windows Contacts for syncing contacts only.
If you don't have Outlook 2003 or 2007 available on the new computer, you will have Windows Contacts available. Before syncing contacts with Windows Contacts, enter one contact in Windows Contacts. Make the contact up if needed, which can be deleted later. This will provide a merge prompt with the first sync with Windows Contacts, which you want to select.
There is no Outlook format or Apple address book format with contacts. You can sync contacts with Outlook 2003 or 2007 or with Windows Contacts on a PC, and sync contacts with Apple's address book on a Mac.
Contact, calendar events, and Safari bookmarks can be synced with the supported applications on multiple computers. With two Windows computers, with two Macs, or with a Windows computer and a Mac.

  • Tunes to Contacts deleted when sync

My biggets frustration is that I have allocatd tunes/songs to varios contacts.  Everytime I sync it removes these....HELP

    See user guide page 10ff:
    Contacts
You can sync contacts with applications such as Mac OS X Address Book, Microsoft
Address Book, Google Address Book, Windows Address Book (Outlook Express),
Vista Contacts, or Microsoft Outlook 2003 or 2007 on a PC. (On a Mac, you can sync
contacts with multiple applications. On a PC, you can sync contacts with only one
    application at a time.)
If you sync with Yahoo! Address Book, you only need to click Configure to enter your
new login information when you change your Yahoo! ID or password after you’ve
    set up syncing.

Set up your contacts on your pc as desired, select "delete info on iphone once" in the info pane in itunes when your phone is connected. Your contacts will be synced from our pc to your phone. After the sync you should have the same info on pc and phone.

  • IPhone Contacts Deleted when Syncing

Help!! My iPhone contacts were deleted when syncing. And only kept a few from my Address Book. Is there a way I can restore them? Please Help! Thanks.

Me too. Although I don't see what MobileMe has to do with it, I don't use it.

  • Why have I got some groups in Contacts duplicated since syncing via iCloud.

I need help duplicating some groups in my Contacts folder since syncing my new  iPhone with iCloud?

With the exception of photo stream, iCloud doesn't sync your apps or photos between devices. You will continue to sync this content via iTunes in the same way as you do now.
Photo stream allows you to sync your most recent photos between all devices, you have the option to use photostream or not.

  • Contacts double when syncing iMac & iPhone 3G

When syncing my iMac (10.6.4) with my iPhone 3G, some of the contacts double on each device and I need to delete them after the sync is complete. I do not use mobileMe.How do I avoid the doubling up of contacts in the address book of each?

    Welcome to the discussions,
did you already try to reset the sync history in iSync on your Mac? Then set up your contacts on your Mac as desired and replace the contacts on the phone during the following sync, using this option from the info pane, advanced section.

  • Contacts lost when sync'ing iPhone

I recently added a new outlook email account.  This came with an empty Contacts folder.  When I sync'd my iPhone 6, my contacts were erased when iTunes sync'd with the empty Contacts folder.  I tried directing iTunes in Settings/ Contacts to sync with the proper email Contacts folder, but no joy.  My only solution to get back my contacts on the iPhone was to delete the new email account and resync.... my contacts were restored, but now I do not have access to the new email account.  Anyone know how to direct the sync of Contacts?

I've been afraid to push the button and apparently for good reason. I managed to loose the iPhone contacts. Darn!! I'm pretty sure I got the directions correct. The one fake contact on the computer showed up on the iPhone but no contacts made it to the computer from the iPhone.
I have a variety of archives, but there's an issue there too. None have the .abbu extension, instead they have .abcddb extensions. They are greyed when attempting an import. I duplicated one and changed the extension to .abbu and thought I was on to something when the associated icon changed to show an AB file, but while it was selectable for import, it only went into the ether.
    Any thoughts?

  • How to avoid getting old contacts added when syncing to a phone?

I'm trying to sync my contacts between Address Book and my Sony Ericsson D750i (identical to the K750i). I have been able to sync contacts (from one group) once successful to the phone. Now when I do another sync after some changes on the Mac, iSync wants to add a large number of contacts to the Address Book. (I suspect that this is related to the message that iSync displays while syncing: "getting contacts from Backup conduit".) When I allow the changes I get a number of old contacts that I had delete a while ago. Some are even corrupted.
How can I avoid this? Is there some additional backup somewhere which I would have to delete?

i guess i'll just stay on 5.1 and 10.8.1 forever than

  • IPod Contact repeats when sync with MS windows

I have installed the Ipod into my MS windows and tried to sync up the contacts in office outlook. However, each time I reconnect my Ipod onto the PC, it would duplicate the contacts. I can't seems to delete the duplication nor am I able to reload. Is there anyone whom has the same problem or any kind Apple staff ould provide assistance?

    hi!
    I have the same issue.
It is a glitch from the actual device or firmware itself. And Apple is taking its time to fix it. I replaced my iPod U2 twice and still have the same problem, on top of having a very crapy sound, when I compare it to my 4G iPod U2.
I think something is wrong in the design of the 5th generation hardware itself.
Let's wait for news from Cuppertino.

  • Spaces in contact numbers when syncing from outloo...

When entering numbers in Outlook in international format and syncing with S60 phones you get spaces in the numbers which prevents the phone recognising callers.
Does anyone know how to prevent outlook from adding the spaces or getting the mail for exchange synchronisation to remove them.
Or does anyone have another solution to allow the phone to recognise callers whilst synchronising with outlook/exchange?
    Thanks
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Thank you for your help.
I have just resolved the problem by setting my phone and modem options in control panel so my location is incorrect.
Outlook adds a space in numbers for your own country.
i.e. for the uk which has the country code 44
    You get:
    +44 1234567899
For all other countries no space in inserted.
    +311234567890
Every other phone I have had ignores spaces in the number but with my E61 I have to set my pc to the incorrect local.
    Problem solved.
Hopefully Nokia will fix or at least not repeat this bug in phones. Anyone know where you can log issues with Nokia? I don;t need them to fix this now but as a programmer I know that without customer feedback it's hard to test and discover bugs like this.
    Thanks for you help.
    Regards
    Alex

  • I can't find the 'contacts' icon after syncing

Iphone 4s does not show an icon/app for Contacts.  When syncing I ticked the box for contacts.

Not the iTunes on your phone. I meant the iTunes on your computer. I'm sure you'll find it there.....if not, do a reset of your phone (you will not lose anything).....just press the SLEEP button and the HOME button at the same time ...CONTINUE TO HOLD UNTIL YOU SEE THE APPLE LOGO....then release the buttons....and your phone will re-boot.

  • Contacts duplicated numerous times when syncing iPhone 4

Since updating to iOS5, when syncing my wife's iPhone 4, many of her contacts are duplicated numerous times.  She has Windows 7 and uses MS Outlook for contacts and calendar.  Contacts in her Outlook file are not duplicated.  I can manually delete the duplications, but the next sync repeats the duplications.  How do I stop this madness?

I have the same problem. Using an iPhone 3G.
Events made on the iPhone multiply every time the iPhone is synced with the Macbook. Events made in iCal on the Macbook pro do not seem to double up when synced with the iPhone.
When creating events on the iPhone I usually set the events to repeat every day (until i complete the event and then I delete it)
Hope some one can offer some insight.

    Hi,
    You have 2 solutions:
1 - You can use 2 differents icloud account
2 - You use the same account but you don't sync yours contacts.
You configure that in  Settings > icloud
You activate or desactivate what you want.
    Have a nice day.
