Contacts either duplicate or gone since cloud upgrade.

Okay Verizon.  I am at my wits end here.  Upgraded to cloud, followed wizard and only choice my contacts and a few select files to be uploaded.  Next day all my contacts on my phone are duplicated.  As I understand the info cloud is supposed to automatically replace backup assistant but mine is still on phone so I think that must be the problem.  Remove backup assistant from phone, next day I have no contacts at all.  Luckily they are online so I sync.  After sync only part of contacts are there.  From what I an tell anything put on phone in last several months are gone.  Also things like groups and photo assigned to contacts are gone.  I spent over 30 mins putting this info back and literally as I make last fix the phone goes back to home screen by itself and when I go back to contacts every contact is gone again.  I have synced, imported from a year+ old backup save when I got the phone, and even manually put in the contacts, all is fine for a day or so, then they are either duplicated or gone. 
To add to my frustration Verizon support has been worthless.  Nothing even near on topic comes up when I search.  Even this site asks me to pick where to put the post without any guidance as to where it should go.  I hope someone sees this that can help.

As Jake suggested go with Google if you have an Android phone enter your Gmail account and from there you can do two things you can set up your contacts on the Online Site and then sync them to your phone or set the contacts up on your phone and when your done, Go onto the Main online site and there you can check all your contacts,  re-adjust & update them if needed all on the main Gmail site and once your finished it will sync to phone and make the necessary corrections..

    I use a large number of keyboard shortcuts (the ones accessed in System Preferences -> Keyboard -> Text).
    Since the upgrade to Yosemite, the personal ones I've created (and which are still visible in the menu) do not work any longer.
    The default ones from Apple, however, still function properly.
    What do I have to do to get these working again?
    I've tried obvious things like re-creating the personal ones. No go.

    Hello, I have an iPhone and iTunes installed on my PC--which is running Windows XP Home Edition 2002 SP2, and I only sync my Contacts and Calendar using the sync functionality through iTunes and MS Outlook 2007. I was on iTunes 7.4 and everything worked fine. I just upgraded to iTunes 7.6, and now I can not get my new contacts and calendar info from Outlook to sync with my iPhone anymore. I get this error message:

    Thanks, but as I've said I've tried all of that described in the reference you've kindly given. I don't have a local cache, and hence no PST files. The only one I have is an OST file which I have checked for integrity using the Microsoft supplied tools. I have switched to local PST (a suggestion given in another thread), and found that not to work either, so have switched back to non cached. I have even renamed the OST file to .BAK, and had it rebuilt. Again to no avail. There is a bona fide bug here. The http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306635 article does only say "This may be due to the format of the Outlook Personal Storage File (.PST)", so I guess as the operative word is "may", its not a guarantee of this being the solution.
    Also I'm not syncing my contacts, I'm only doing the calendar nothing else.
    Additionally, this used to work, so your hypothesis, of the "bad data", being synced in 7.6 and then not being able to be subsequently budged is a definate goer I think. But the trick would be to work out what the bad data is. I'm assuming the source of the bad data is the iphone, so I've deleted old calendar in outlook entries I know to have come from the iPhone, that has, as yet, been a fruitless exercise.
    I do thank you though for your help though, I'll be scouring the internet for any tidbits of information which might help, and I'll post them back here if I find the solution, or anything which may help others unfortunate enough to be in this situation.

  • [SOLVED] CUPS-printers gone since last upgrade

    Last weekend I upgraded my system and everything went smoothly. A day or two later I noticed, that printers on remote machines are no more available, not even visible. They work fine on the machines they are connected to but are not even visible from my machine.
    One printer is an old HP LaserJet 5L at an old sidux distro, where cups is of version 1.4. It worked for ages and hasn't been touched in any way since sidux has gone.
    The other printer is a HP LaserJet P2055d at an archlinux server installation, which is up to date as my (client) machine is. So. latest cups (ver. 1.6).
    Until last weekend the connection to those printers was easy, I even had not to go through the Add Printer wizard of cups (using Firefox). The printer always were visible and IIRC coul be added with a click on an oK button. Until now to go through the Add-Printer wizard was only necessary for SAMBA printers: Other network printer, choose Windows Printer via SAMBA  etc.
    SAMBA printers work, however.
    So I thought I go through that wizard for my remote cUPS printers too. But no success: Printer not available, wrong URI and the like.
    Sorry for my lengthy post, but I don't know were to look first and what to check. The cups config files don't seem to habe been changed, so I'm a bit lost and need some pointers.

    with Cups 1.6 the avahi-daemon has to be up and running before cupsd is started. Is this the case with your configuration?
    No, so I have corrected the rc.conf of the server machine, stopped cupsd, restarted avahi-daemon, started cupsd. No success. Did this on server and client machine. Shouldn't my client machine be able to find that printer when I press Find New printer?
    Okay, Plan B: I've always had difficulties to see which protocol to use and how the URI should look like if I use the Add Printer wizard. Any pointers besides the cups documentation (which is rahter hard to understand)?

    Sorry I don't have an answer for you.  I kind of doubt Apple has added a solution for that yet, since your Facebook account is not yet synced through iCloud; it is set up independantly on each device.
    However I hope you can help me, I cannot figure out how to manually link contacts on my Mac; there is no Add Link button like there is on the phone...

    Have you made sure it is active.

    You cannot use iCloud with Leopard 10.5.8. The minimum requirement is Lion 10.7.2. If you have been syncing your contacts with iCloud you can only have been doing it by some sort of unsupported hack, and if it doesn't work it's unlikely to be possible to find an explanation. If you have been using other (compliant) devices by trying to sync using both iTunes and iCloud you are likely to get duplicates.
    A computer old enough running Leopard may well not be upgradeable to Lion or Mountain Lion, but if you can do so this is the only way you are going to be able to make proper use of iCloud.
    The requirements for Lion are:
    Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
    2GB of memory
    OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
    7GB of available space
    To purchase it you will have to ring Apple at the number given at the bottom left of this page.

    I am receiving duplicate e-mails on my iPhone since the upgrade to 3.0 when retrieving over the air or from wi-fi. I have an original iPhone (2G) with 16g. I have 3 e-mail accounts, 2 are from gmail (both giving me duplicates) and 1 from ATT (no duplicates). The e-mail service with gmail on my MacBook are using IMAP, whereas the ATT mail is POP. e-Mail on my MacBook is just fine, as it is if I retrieve via the net from gmail. Only duplicates appear on my iPhone.
    If I delete just one of the e-mails, it actually deletes both. So I have to choose to keep both, or both get deleted.
    Any solutions out there to this, or is Apple addressing??

    I'm having the same issue with a POP account on my iPhone 3G S with OS 3.0 (I didn't have this before with the same account config on a 2.x 3G, which I upgraded.) My GMail and Yahoo! mail accounts seem to be OK (although I don't get as much mail at either of those).
    The duplicate issue comes and goes; not every message is duplicated on my iPhone. None of the messages are actually duplicated on the POP server.

    Hi, Thanks for the info.  I can't get the First Aid window to appear. I went into the "Trash" and emptied everything in there (some duplicate versions of photos etc. and I deleted the map page and remade the map.  Mow the book duplicates?
    I have one other problem that happened after upgrading to Yosemite.  The print quality on 4 previous books I submitted was pretty poor. I contacted the Apple Store, they said to upgrade to Yosemite as all of their printers were geared to that op system. They gave me a credit for one book, told me to upgrade, remake the book and resubmit and see what it looked like the second time around.  When I clicked on "Buy Book", then "Preview" everything was good.  I previewed the book to make sure that the spacings / borders etc. were all good as I have always done, and then closed the Adobe window / PDF and clicked "Continue".  The next page appeared like normal with my billing info etc. and I clicked "Continue".  Normally at this point a window drops down saying that the order had been received and that the data was loading. This time a window dropped down for a brief second and disappeared and then I got an error message that the "connection had been lost, try again later".  I found out that the credit card billing went through to the credit card company but the book data did not.  I had to go through a bunch of hoops to get the charges deleted on my credit card account and finally got that solved. I went back and tried again with the book. Same thing happened, same error, only this time I noticed a small text and a spinning wheel just above the browser at the bottom of the page saying "loading".  I let it run and finally it quit, about half an hour later I got an email from the Apple store saying the book was being processed and supplying an order number.  Usually, before I switched to Yosemite, I would submit, "buy book", preview and continue. A window would drop down saying the book had been submitted. Then I'd get an email with the order number saying I had up to 90 minutes to cancel the order.  This time I got none of that - only the order email about 30 minutes later?? Since then, I tried a second book with the same results (but knew what to look for this time, so I let it run through the step).  I got emails yesterday providing tracking info for both books so obviously they were printed and shipped okay. Any ideas?

    Then your basic issues are: too little RAM, incompatible software, dysfunctional installation.
    Add more RAM or kill as many programs that you use until the computer is running normally.

    I did it by going to my old Photoshop CC Plugins folder and copying it aand then pasteing it in the Phtoshop CC 2014 folder. All mine came back and worked.

    Under Settings->Messages->Send & Receive
    1) is your Apple ID listed there?
    2)  Under "You can be reached..." is your phone number appearing at the top of the list and does it have a checkmark next to it?
    3) Under "Start New Conversation From" is the checkmark next to your phone number?

    Thanks for the reply. My button was after the last tab until I upgraded. What I did was restore to default tool bar and the button was there. I then re customized my tool bar the way it was.
