Contacts list in mail

Is there a way to have mail list all your contact in mail when you click the to? I would like to see a list of all my contacts instead of entering a letter and then the names poping up and you chooseing the name or names you want to send the email to.

Yes. Right click in the toolbar area of the composing screen and select "customize toolbar". Drag the address icon into the toolbar. Then you can press that for address dialog.

I wish everyone would be forced to learn how to create BCC groups!!!
I have 'friends' and family that have been using email and computers for 20 yrs that resist so I had to stop asking "don't put my email address out there in TO: for everyone, and use a BCCs!"
And afterall, it is EASY / easier and that way you can keep a group informed about updates in lives of everyone.
There is also a setting in Facebook for Secret that only a group can see, so you can also have private group communications. Yes, I have my doubts, some days I think NSA invented Facebook/Twitter to lull people into turning over the keys to the car and make their work easier.

Hi. I honestly am not sure how I transferred it (I am dealing with several issues in getting the new iMac set up right now) . . . I think I exported from one and imported to the other. Using OD as a simple contact list for mail

A probably stupid question but ... : is it possible to add, in Open Directory, informations like e-mail or mobile phone number WITHOUT creating an account in Open Directory ?
This is what i'm trying to do :
we have an OS X server with Open Directory and mail configured. Users access to their mail trough imap, are authenticated through the OD, and are using Thunderbird as a mail client. These users are new in our company, and we had to host their mailboxes on a separate system, not linked in any manner to our coporate mail system and -that's the problem- our corporate directory.
Thunderbird can be configured to access the LDAP directory on the OSX server, but the directory contains only the informations we entered for each account created in OD.
The question is then : is it possible to populate OD with informations extracted from our corporate directory WITHOUT having to create an account in OD for each contact ?
I've seen a thread speaking about passenger utility. This might be a workaround if I finally have to create an account for each, but it is too powerfull :)) my problem is very simple, I don't have any problem of password migration and so on ! I just want to populate OD with the name, firstname, mail adress and phone number of ... let's say .... 1200 persons !

If you have 1200 accounts to create, Passenger is going to save you a huge amount of time on that task. As to it being too powerful, it would be nice if there were a few more features added to it to provide a bit more functionality.
To answer your question about account creation, yes you must create an account to be able to store user info such as e-mail addresses. You don't have to assigned home directories to the users, passwords, or even allow them to login to the account, but you must create the container object to hold the user information.

Mail delivery and Marketing contact list

Hi Experts,
I have sent some mails with marketing campaign. In Marketing contact list all mails seem to have been sent successfully, but indeed most of them have caused some kind of mail delivery error.
Is it standard behaviour that a delivery problem does not occurr in the report?????
What do I have to do to make the report reflect the delivery problem?

Once again:
In SAP Library I found that one of the features of Marketing contact list is to show Transmission status of the personalized mail.
In my case this is not working, because it does not show a mail reboted due to invalid mail (for example: name.surname@company).
There is a lot of information about bounce management, but it explains how to do follow-up to those mails. It does not explain how to show them in the report.

Retrieving Contacts List on iPad Mail

Can anyone tell me how to look up the Contacts list in Mail. The settings for contacts are about sort and display. I haven't been able to see my list of contacts and/or choose from it to send email on iPad?

I've tried that but all I get is 2 ancient contacts. To the left of the heading - Contacts- it says Groups. Is that part of the problem?

I just installed Lion. A bit behind, I know, but my Mac Pro is too old for Mountain Lion so I'm done upgrading the OS. Here's my question. I want a particular contact to appear first in the contact list. Before Lion, I put an asterisk before his name in my address book and it appeared at the top of the contact list in mail. It no longer works. Can anyone tell me if there's a way to do this? Thanks

Address Book in 10.6.8 (which your post says you are using) has a Delete Card item in the Edit menu. If you want to get rin of a complete card, use it. If you have more than one address on an individual's contact card as here:
click the Edit button at the bottom of the card to put it in edit mode:
then click the minus sign beside any that you want rid of.
Make sure that you clear them from the Previous Recipients window too.

Never heard of that. I suspect it thinks that's an email address and you're seeing that screen b/c you don't have an email account setup on your iPhone.
Assuming the number is valid, try a reset by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.

Iphone 4 automatically sending nuisance/ viral e-mail messages from my yahoo account to members of my phone/ e-mail/ facebook contact list. What can I do to stop this?

This has occurred on 2 different occassions. In both cases, I can not identify a viral email that I would have opened that could have started this as we are very cautious about opening unknown emails, and definately NEVER double click on links that come through in nuisance/ spam type e-mails.
This morning was the second time that it appears my iphone was somehow involved in automatically sending out a mass nuisance message to all my contacts (phone contacts/ facebook contacts/ yahoo contacts). The email contained no message - except for a single link to an unknown destination of course since I refuse to dbl click on it to see what I have sent out to my friends.
This is the second time it has happened. I have posted on facebook to all my friends to not open the message. I have deleted ALL my contacts from both my phone and from yahoo contact list. I even deleted facebook and all it's info. from my phone to remove their contact lists. I don't want this to keep happening to my friends. The only thing I haven't deleted is my phone contacts (phone numbers) but I am assuming it may very well happen again since the automatic message was also sent to my phone contacts. (Not sure how that even happens - an auto email to a phone number?)
I have been reading on this site that it is nearly impossible to get a virus on your iphone - however, what other explanation is there? I don't have a PC - I don't have any Windows products in my home. We own 1 ipad and 2 iphones at the moment. I never access my yahoo account from anywhere but my MAC products. if it's a message coming from your yahoo account, it means that your account has been compromised, not your phone itself. i would suggest changing the password for your email account

Hi macmac57. I don't memorize my numbers anymore, so I know how important it is to have all your contacts on your phone at all times. Did an update occur or a new application download when your contacts disappeared? Have you been backing up your device with your computer? You can try to restore your contacts from your last backup. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
Are you syncing your iPhone between multiple computers? This can sometimes create issues with your contacts. http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1474

Firefox does not have a contact list. Any contact list that you have will be part of the email service that you are using, you will need to check with the support for that email service to see if they offer such a feature.
